    What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Alchemy

     

    Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

             

    Alchemy is the use of the Material Alphabet, via breaking down various matter of ‘mundane’ items in the world, via practices akin to Chemistry and biology to gather Symbols from items such as reagent herbs to craft potions. 

     

     

    Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

    Wthin Alchemy itself there is Signs and Symbols and Processes and Reagents. Signs and Symbols make up all the Reagents, in which players can gather Symbols from the various extraction processes born of the five signs, however, before a player can gather the Symbols they must practice Identification first. Once that is done the final process is Mixing, which an alchemist follows a recipe to make a potion or alchemical craft.

             

    There is Further Alchemy that is currently Animatii, Smoggers and Tawkin that are extensions of Alchemy, however, they all require separate FAs to be submitted before a player can utilise those specific elements. Within Alchemy itself, there are open recipes that players are free to discover on their own and there are rare recipes, that must be discovered through Roleplay means and not learned through trial and error, that is to say, they must learn the recipe from another player. 

     

     

    Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

             

    This example emote assumes that the Symbols have already been extracted. The Potion in question is Cough Syrup from Medical Pack 1.

     

    Laerdya makes her way into a medical lab, as she looks about the room she notices a sterile pot waiting by the counter with instructions lying nearby to make some medicine for sore throats. She grabs hold of the pot in question and begins to fill it with water.

     

    Once the Pot was filled she rested it over a nearby fire that was already lowly burning, after which, she began to gather the Symbols she needed from the shelves, 1 Count of Mundane Order, 1 Count of Mundane Sound, and 2 Counts of Peace. She then set them aside nearby, as she looked over to see how hot the pot was.

    Seeing the water was brought to a warm temperature, she began to pour in the Symbols she gathered prior, once they were all in the water base, she reached for a large mixing spoon, and began to stir and stir the mixture until the liquid became clear. Once this was achieved, she simply removed the pot and set it aside to cool.

     

    She takes a moment to gather a bottle as the Syrup begins to cool down, she sets the bottle down and grabs a funnel, putting the funnel in the neck of the bottle, she then lifts the pot and begins to tip it over so the Syrup was all collected in the bottle. Once the pot was empty she set it aside to be cleaned and went off to deliver the Syrup, putting a cork in the top.

    his set of example emotes follows Luminosity Potion under Core Potions, the Symbols are already assumed to have been extracted. 

     

    Laerdya enters the lab with her student in tow, the lab already having been prepared,  with a pot of distilled water on the table, the lid covering it as she instructs “I want you to count out the Symbols of one unit of Light, Endurance, and Swiftness, all extracted through the Mundane Method.” After the instruction was given, she also gathered the Symbols required on a separate work table.

    “Good, Good.” she says after inspecting the Symbols the student had collected “Now we’ll simply pour some of this Distilled Water into bottles,” she says, as she gets a funnel slotting it into the neck of the bottle before lifting up the pot and pours it into the bottle, filling it up. She then sets the Pot down and waits for her student to follow along.

    Now both potions are filled with Distilled Water Laerdya speaks once again “Now that is done, add the Symbols into the mix, and you simply need close the lid and mix it around until it begins to glow.” she states, as she does exactly that, adding the three Mundane Symbols of Light, Endurance, and Swiftness through the neck of the bottle, before closing it off with a cork.

    Seeing that her Student followed suit, she then began to shake the potion around and around to have the Symbols mix in with the Distilled Water, explaining “Some recipes follow this simple process, of using Water or Aqua Vitae as a base, and adding the mixture of Symbols, however, as you learn more complex recipes, they require a specific order of things. So make sure to take notes.” she remarks, and once the Symbols finally mixed into the Water, the Potion began to emit light.

    Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

             

    Given the nature of Alchemy, I’ll make sure to explain it clearly during the first lessons to always check the redlines of potions or other Alchemical crafts and that they are responsible for how their potions get used, if they are specifically power gaming potion effects and I hear of it I will speak with them on the matter and also inform LT about it if they are not already knowing of that fact.

    She couldn’t bear it, all that happened over the last weeks of her life, she was pushed to breaking point. A Demon set out for her, born of an old friend with memories robbed, twisted into a vile beast, determined for whatever suffering it had in store for her. A failed attempt to save Luthien trapped in the Frozen North as she attempted to contend against unnatural forces beyond her. This past Elven week has been naught but running, and running because she was simply cowardly, weak, broken, tired, lost.

     

    She wandered between destinations aimlessly, within the Southern Lands, as she stewed in thought. She saw it, didn’t she, or did she? She knows certain revealed in her attempt to determine who or what this Harrower was, and a terrible voice spoke, ringing through her ears 

     

    “I.. will.. Come.. for all..”

     

    Then following was that terrible flurry of Black Hands that reached out, in an attempt to rend the flesh from her face before she awoken from the vision. All she could think about was what she was writing when Aeolus came to her a long time ago..

     

    The amalgamation of voices spoke to me, as a wave of black hands rushed to me in that horrible dark..

     And so once more, despite how difficult it was with a trembling hand, she veiled her eyes again with fabric..

A Wanderer took comfort in the South, after a failed attempt of saving the woman in question, teary eyes from her own unfortunate circumstances that had unfolded, but she felt one good action deserved another.. She knelt upon the ground, and out from the thin air, a blacken orb formed..

     

    A dream was sent forth to that unfortunate soul, entrapped in the frozen North..

     

    In that Limbo between dreams a voice echoes as it spoke

     

    "Child of the Stars, who is ensnared by vile shadows. Fear not, for I am watchful. I offer this comfort, to set ease to your torment, remain steadfast."

    Vivid dream was followed by the silencing of the voice..

    Luthien then felt herself against a field of grass, their blades comforting and soft against her form, as a gentle breeze rolls over, as a sun rests on the horizon to set, its warm light beams down upon where she found herself, an endless Meadow. Few clouds dotted that sky, as it was painted a warm orange. A peaceful haven in this dreaming, compared to her waking. Clear warm air fills her lungs, as she could dwell in this dream, until she next awoken..

    And when that happened, the smell of Embers fill her nostrils, to herald what would come..

    Then that Wanderer let that Blacken Orb fade into nothingness as she took heavy breaths like instructed before.. She had to remain steadfast herself, to endure the suffering she would face ahead and pray she was strong enough to save them all..

    There are reasons outlining each proposed change below, however, the overall goal of these Amendments is to clarify how Seer functions in terms of Compatibility and make clear the differences between Feat Seer and Slotted Seer compatibility with magics and CAs. The other final reason was simply to update the compatibility list with the new CAs and magics that came after Seer.

    Reasoning: Proposed Changed One.

     

    1) The Witness is designed to infiltrate the world and other divine realms. With the proposed change, this still fits, as it can infiltrate further realms. 

    2) A seer must not willingly regain their eyes. Such, this keeps healing magics like Farseer, and Deific Magics from forcing a Seer into losing their magic. This logic should apply over to CA’s that regenerate. If an Azdrazi who is a Seer is killed, they reform at their Drake Shrine. This is the body fully regenerating. Meaning, their eyes returned. But the Azdrazi did not willingly die. This is applied over to Zar’ei, and Frost Witches as well.
    3) Looking at this, and speaking to MayRndz. A Treelord is fully able to decide what regenerates for their body. Therefore, if a Tree Lord has the slots, they can remain a Seer as they can simply not have their eyeballs regenerate.


    Reasoning: Proposed Change Two.


    All reasoning remains as stated above. With the following added.
    1) Klones must have their eyes removed from their body in order to use their MA Seer. CA’s that regenerate could follow the same logic. Azdrazi, Zar’ei, and Frost Witches can not use their magic until they blind themselves again.

     

    Reasoning: Proposed Change Three: 

    1) If a CA can not retain Seer due to its regeneration and is not able to rip out its eyes to retain an MA. Then all other CA’s with similar regeneration and rebirth mechanics can not retain the ability to possess a Seer MA.

     

    Overall: These three changes, pick whichever one you believe to fit the server best, are simply to help lore stay consistent. 
    TLDR, 1: they have to be slotted before hand, 2: They have to be slotted before hand and become blind again, 3: Frost Witches, Azdrazi, and Zar'ei can not be Seer due to regeneration mechanics.

Kimi who was the main force and writer behind Chi left the server because of how she was treated at the time, and I followed suit, I believe two other Chi Teachers also left the server not because they had issues but because they were focusing on IRL matters such as study, is it really a problem with the magic when various other factors determine if a player sticks around with the server or not?

     

    Admittedly I think when we were handling grandfathers looking back at it we failed to account for different factors on getting magic up and running without much oversight on our part, frankly we did not spread it out far enough to let other groups foster but at the time we were somewhat paranoid as if the wrong people get ahold of the magic and drop the overall perceived quality of a magic it will be destined for a shelving, so what I ask, is it a problem with the magic when two people relatively new to writing and handling a lore piece for the server didn't really do a great job with the distribution of the magic?

    I think another problem I suffered when I was attempting to revive Chi at the time I feel like somewhat my quality of RP or entrance requirements dropped for obtaining, and this was what I felt necessity in order to keep Chi alive and active, but despite that, I still had plenty of people who were trying to schedule meetings with Sun Teachers to get connected as I was a Moon Teacher and couldn't do that, and not to mention, I was actively engaging in RP with Non-Monks and outsiders of Yong Ping via traveling to other places or taking part in events trying to drum up interest, not specifically for the magic itself but the fact we had Monk RP going on. The short of it is, it felt really hard to balance the quality that would be expected of a magic when you treated everyday like its last with a magic getting put on the shelf, which leads to the issue where inactive magics can cause more harm than good.

    The only reason I felt the magic being shelved sucked was purely because I had a lot of fun when I was RPing with it and had some epic moments I wouldn't usually get anywhere else, and given the community's view on Kani being more inactive than Chi, it felt bad that people wouldn't have been able to get those interactions because of OOC mismanagement by inexperience rather than there being a fundamental issue with the magic. I don't know what else to add but I just hope my view point helps in some form, I think my biggest gripe with server is just if you have your own ideas on what type of RP you want to bring or magics you want to introduce is it needs to fall under the requirements of what ST have in mind, and it isn't exactly outlined anywhere, more so in terms of what aesthetics or general archetypes, if I wanted to introduce a Jedi/Sith magic for example, and have 20 people interested for both sides, but it all comes down to the people who determine if it gets introduced or not.

    Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

             

    Phantoms come to be by souls that do not pass on to where they are destined to rest. Various reasons for this occurrence can make this so, the player have plently of freedom to determine what causes a Soul to return from the brink of Ebrietaes. 

     

    Phantoms start off their existence as Revenants otherwise known as Grey Spirits, once they come to a realization about their death and perform Geistreach enough times to get the required soul essence, they may reject the idea of their death, and become a Black Spirit, a Poltergeist, driven feral by their rejection of their nature. However, should a Revenant accept their death, they come a White Spirit, Specter, accepting and moving on from pain they suffered. 

     

    Phantoms have various different appearances, the notable ones that apply are the color that represent the Phantom's stage, Revenants start off greyscaled, and unstable in their visibility (this can not be twisted into true invisibility) and they might have changes that represent their demise, sunken features, mangled attire, etc, their voice also sounds if spoken from a far distance. Poltergeists color are represented from shades of red to black, the 'wound' that caused their entrance into unlife becomes far more of an outstanding display, the area in question could appear rotted and broken, wounds may seep a faux blood, and animalistic traits maybe taken on, fingers akin to claws, sharpened teeth and unwavering gaze akin to a predator, their voices sound among various unsettling emissions, from growls, hisses to wails and rasps. Specters colors are represented by shades in the ranges of white, blue, or yellow, they bear no indication of the wound that stricken them, as they past on from that pain, however, they may appears almost like porcelain or eyes that are solid, displaying no pupil or irises, their voices are harmonic and ethereal in two words, usually calm. Phantoms of all types may make changes to their appearance, however, changes in color are not permitted so freely. 

     

    The Mental State of Phantoms depending where they are at during their state of unlife, Revenants experience a great deal of confusion and pain as their minds are so clouded that may not have full detail of who they were in life. Poltergeists are unable to feel 'positive' emotions besides the exemption of extreme scenario, usually in turmoil and this can lead to violent outbursts and the like, not strictly to be malicious in nature, but more like an animalistic impulse. Any Phantom that has demanifest will be cast adrift from the Material World, reforming from a store of their Ectoplasm, 2 OOC days are required for Revenants while the other two sub types and more advanced form of Phantoms only require 1 OOC day.

     

    Ectoplasm is a metaphysical substance that makes up every spectral being there is, they are entirely composed of it and can shape their appearance form with it, and it allows them to interact with other creatures that are also Spectral as if they were ‘physical’. It also allows them to perform actions such as Telekinesis, and cast themselves closer to Elysian but not entirely which renders them mostly invisible to those of the Material World barring rare expectations.

     

    While immune to most things of the mundane world, such major examples being sickness or material attacks from the like of most Alchemy, this does not mean they can’t harmed, most commonly a Ghost will encounter Aurum, which can tear through them and lines of solid Aurum is impassable to them, while shavings or dust will force them out of invisibility and cause a great deal of pain, the only way a ghost can get past such is if they have possessed a person or object. They’re also extremely weak to Voidal Magics, Xannic Mists, Lutaumancy and those practised in Mysticism. The final weakness worth noting of ghosts is sunlight, not strictly lethal but it is enough to cause discomfort for a ghost to seek the shade or any other form of refuge from the Sun.

    Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

             

    Seers are Descendants who have become blind in one way or another. From desperate pleas exposing the individual’s vulnerability, Vaasek will grant them a ‘Witness’ that bonds with them upon their next slumber. The fledgling Seer will receive a vision in their dream of the player’s design for them to interpret and gain an understanding that in the blessed submission of covering their eyes, they will be granted the Seer’s Second Sight. The Dream in question is usually befitting of a character’s belief, a Dark Elf may believe Luara blessed them with mystical sight or sense, and a Voidal Mage might dream of a Horror offering them ‘Voidal Sensing’, it is up to the player to design the dream and how the persona will understand it. Seers must also uphold three Tenets, do not harm or kill another Seer (Duels and consent do not inflict the abandonment by Vaasek), do not reveal other Seers to non-Seers nor their schemes to those outside their cabal, and finally Seers can not reveal themselves as ‘Seers’ or disclose the inner workings of the magic. The final Tenet simply means you must excuse and ‘contextualize’ the magic, a Druid Seer may claim their ability to see the past and their ability to Scry or Appraise is knowledge granted by communion with the Aspects, and they must never give up that lie, it may be twisted and reinvent, but to undo it is to reveal yourself.

     

    When a Seer becomes bonded, loyalty to their peers and Cabal become above all else. Seers often fall victim to the lies that they spread, and this can fall to an extreme end, a ‘Holy Seer’ who follows the faith of Canon might conspire with Dark Spawn and still believe that they’ve been chosen by a Saint to spread the will of God, this effect also has a consequence with the guises that Seers can craft, as the longer they remain in the guise the more their former life slips past, and they might have doubts about who they truly if they break free from the guise. When Seers see one another, they recognize, and hearing the name of a Seer also gives the lingering feeling of a connection, the sole purpose is to prevent Seers from accidentally coming into conflict. Seers are also granted their own custom Casting Tells, up to a limit of three, one by default, and another two can be gained from bonding to an Altar owned by another Seer or from a guise, the tell is entirely free form but it must be approved by ST beforehand, however, it should always befit of the lie the Seer spreads about themselves, the Casting tell can not have anything mechanical effect such as blocking line of sight or hiding the spell, a fire spell will always look like fire in some form. The Casting Tell can be used to disguise other magics and even CA abilities that the bonded Seer has. The Tell can also have a sound or smell to it.

     

    While Seers can easily fit the standard vocation of a Fortune Teller or Soothsayer, their various abilities allow them to slot into any other role with justification and expand the possible roleplay opportunities that the Seer player can provide, a priest that has become a Seer might say an Angel has granted them vision of a holy artefact and send players on a wild goose chase, or have truthfully divined the location of one for people to hunt down. The possibilities of what Seers can do are endless with the tools provided to promote intrigue while carefully spreading lies to maintain their status.

     

    Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

             

    Seer is broken into two sections, Feat Seer and Slotted Seer. Feat Seer has a limited form of Second Sight, they otherwise showcase no other abilities. They must wear some form of veil in an act of surrender to Vaasek before they can see and usually, the Feat Seer must pretend to be Blind, however, a Feat Seer whose blindness was never known may avoid that requirement and use tinted glasses or the like and keep their blindness a secret. Feat Seers are more often prone to botched translations, which entail disruption to the vision, this can be as haunting as people’s forms ‘altering’ into horrific designs or disorientating, watching psychedelic-like imagery unfold of a clash of colours to the point the Feat Seer might opt to remove their covering. Slotted Seer takes up one to two magic slots, each magic slot being granted from a Ritual of Sanctioning. The First Slot of Seer grants abilities directed towards gathering information and laying the seeds of their first misdirections, being able to Sow Fallacy at T3 upon an individual or object. The second slot grants various rituals that allow a gathering of Seers to expand their capability further to gather information and commit large-scale misdirection by casting a giant illusion over a region or influencing dreams. As they go through the tiers of magic, some of the spells and powers they have become enhanced, notably their Dilated Secondsight, T3 with two slots they gain Truesight, which allows them to see through almost any obfuscation, mundane or magical, but this applies within a 20 block range.

    The spell in question is Scry, the sown item will be referred to in the context of a Tome.

     

    Laerdya clutches her Tome as she enters the empty room, she kneels for a moment before sitting down with her legs across, laying the book open upon her lap, as she begins to focus on her subject, picturing all the details she could about the individual before she began to call upon her power, her eyes becoming awash in glowing Silver as her Tome also emits a similar Silver Light.

    Her thoughts remain on the subject as she remains intently focused, her hands reaching up as they too became aglow with Silver Light, that seeps ethereal strands, wavey in their movements as her hands dance about in the air, before her fingers pinch at non-existent threads in the air, plunking them and pulling them before letting them go after a moment.

     

    This ritual begins its next stage, as her glowing hands begin to funnel those ‘threads’ towards her book, pulling whatever she was grasping at down to the pages, the movements continue until she is satisfied it is enough, and her right hand lays out on the open Tome, fingers sprawled out as she awaits vision.

    Combative Eye Bite is being taught through the Oculi’s Dream Teaching Ability.  

     

    The Student finds themself in a dream of pure white, endless. A Duplicate of themselves appears next to them, facing forth, then after two shadowy figures emit from the ground, standing blankly towards the Student and the Duplicate. They find a non-descript staff in hand, sown. The Student senses to follow the lead of the Duplicate, and the Duplicate begins to focus, prismatic colours unfurl out a single eye, as they stare intently at the target

    The Duplicate’s daze of prismatic colours kept flowing out of the single eye, reaching a grand apex as it simply maintained eye contact with the target in question. They focus more intently, as they are ready to cast their hex.

    Within an instant, a ray of that prismatic colour bursts out the eye, as it soars through the air at high speeds, directed towards the target’s eyes, the target stared blankly ahead and offered no reaction, contact was made by the luxuriant ray.

    Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

             

    During a teaching lesson, it is simply correcting the mistake when it happens, explaining why the spell can’t be used in such a manner and letting them attempt the spell again in training and making sure it was emoted correctly afterwards or making sure they understand the effects of the spell properly if that was the issue. If it happens after teaching I’ll be doing my best to determine the intentions of the student when the power gaming occurred, if they simply misunderstood their abilities I would go over the spell with them again, however, if it was intentional then I’ll reprimand them for poorly using the magic, explaining how it erodes their own experience and how people will likely avoid interacting with them for poor Roleplay and seeing what I can do to correct the issue such as speaking with ST. In a more egregious situation, ST will be contacted immediately about the incident so it can be properly dealt with.

    The Illithids are powerful physic entities that lurk in the void, they seek to break free via way of their firstborn's afflicted people that have been turned into them via way of Cognito hazards as well as forceable infection via another illithid. Their society is fairly monarch-like and militaristic with one Overmind Ruling all other sects of ilithids and several Ascended ones acting as his lutenists as well as his firstborns. Romance is encourages as it allows illithids to gain new knowledge.
