Laerdya decides not to muster a snarky comment on the events unfolding. The said comment would have likely turned into a massive monologue about hypocrisy of most of the Elves. She instead opts to walk about the city of Haelun'or, scheming her schemes of a farm, and the bounty that follows.

"It will be interesting what transpires in Haelun'or." A Mali comment after hearing the news within the lands of Savoy "It will remain to be seen if some of the citizens of Haelun'or will embrace this, or lash out like undeveloped children."

Laerdya looked upon the missive and gave an approving nod, remarking to herself within private "The time has been long overdue for 'Aheral that are able to provide for the state, and the ability to defend it to have their home, I wonder if the Haelun'orian's would prefer to submit or continue to perish."

An Elfess in a farm far away looks over the missive with her dulled eyes, and simply sat the missive aside, returning to her messy writings. A flurry of thoughts which brought on a sigh.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Animati are non-magical constructs made of clockwork, they can take various forms though proper care must be taken to ensure the construct is able to function efficiently, for example, an Animati that is designed to be bulky compared to a standard humanoid would need legs made to accommodate the extra weight. Animati can be built with additional limbs, however, the strength will be split between the limbs, though it can be ‘circumvented’ by ensuring the Animati frame is larger and making a bigger heart, this does not come without downsides of the frame taking heavy damage. The Animati must have their specific senses and abilities ‘constructed’, such as sight, smell, sound, talking, awareness and even the mind, which can be various levels depending on the craftsman, they could be simple servants only capable of following inputs by their creators, or having descendent level intellect.

Generally, Animii are constructs that mimic Descendant design, pulley systems that act as muscles that can snap which would be akin to a torn muscle, the alchemical fluid that flows through an Animii gives it life, however, it is unable to clot like Descendant Blood.

The joints are generally some of the weaker parts of an Animii frame, as it can not be built with a material that is inflexible, lest the design of the Animii be rendered impractical. They can also wear armour that a Descendant could practically wear, and if the armour would hinder a Descendant, such as restricting movement, the Animii would also find restricted movement. While Animii do not have stamina like Descendants, pushing past their limits would begin entering into Overclocking (covered below). 

The Heart, referred to as the ‘Gear Heart’ or ‘Clock Heart’ is what brings ‘life’ to the Animati, once this is activated it begins to circulate an alchemical fluid. If this is destroyed it the Animii will perish, it is possible for it to be salvaged so it can be remade, in which the Animii will suffer some memory loss, but complete destruction or loss will mean the Animii would have to be restarted. Should an Animii lose enough Alchemical fluid it would also cease functioning. They often have a much harder time with taking damage as they are unable to naturally heal, or benefit from healing that might stem from magic, requiring repair lest the damage hinders them greatly, though they may patch themselves up with pastes to prevent immediate shut down. 

Animati can be fitted with gadgets, which can range from incorporated pens, attached weapons, etc. However, there are several factions that must be accounted for, such as weight, and if the design of a mounted weapon would hinder the movement of the Animii frame.

The Obedience Vessel is something that a craftsman may construct for their Animii, while Animii might have free will, this ensures utter loyalty to those ‘bonded’ to this vessel and fully acknowledge the creator as the creator. This is simply achieved by the creator adding 20 millilitres of blood in the fluids, the blood originating from the creator or those they wish to have sway over the Animii. An Animii with multiple masters would have a priority of command, the first person ‘registered’ having higher priority over those who lesser numbers.

Animati have the ability to Overclock, which pushes them past their usual limits, however, this causes internal damage which would kill the Animii depending on the Overclock and how long it pushes itself. There is Minor and Major Overclocking, both increase speed and strength, with differing strength. Should the Animii cease Overclocking before it was at the point of Heart Failure, they will be either be at half their physical capabilities for two IRL hours, or completely out of commission for four IRL hours.

While an Animati’s mind and behaviour maybe somewhat akin to Descendants, having sharper minds that allow for them to intake information easier, they still need to be taught basic things to even begin to function, how to walk, read, write, and even speak. 

This means Animati can not be masters at skills they have not taken time to learn, much like a normal Descendant. These constructs are still capable of creativity and they can develop personalities of their own, likely influenced by their interactions with their creator or environment.

The construct would stand at 6ft, its form based around a feminine humanoid. Most of the Animati features are hidden, as it would wear an outfit that is a mix of dark brown with dark purple, along with a dark gold trim, and a cloudy yellow cloak draped down it’s back. It wears a hood and has a  fabric face mask that covers the nose and anything under such. The Animati’s face has features akin to a female ‘Aheral mouth, nose, ears and glowing violet eyes. It carries a full metal face mask that has slots for the eyes to see through, and is smoothed out, leaving no visible features.

Laerdya looks over the missive idly as she came into possession of the paper, commenting "Finally, an Elf that actually can accomplish what she sets out to do, rather than complain of stagnation."

Laerdya raised a brow as she discovered the unfinished letter within her mailbox at her farm house, her fingers carefully pick it up as then moved to head indoors. She took a seat as she laid the letter out on the table to read, her light blue eyes reading over the letter twice over. The woman's expression was unchanging, though the few sentences had great effect upon Laerdya, as she folded the letter neatly to preserve somewhere safely. She spoke softly, aware of how spirits of those that have past might wander 

"You understood what will take some 'Thill life times to understand, that our way of life must be worked towards, not expect to be delivered on a platter, unlike some others who merely complain and never work towards the change they want. I know what others might think of you, considering that you were Musin, however, none truly understand the world as I, it makes no difference between the greatest of powers or entity that exist in the lands, and the lowliest of flies. Only the actions it takes is what truly matters. Rest well, llir." 

Laerdya pondered a few moments over the letter, as she slotted it safely into a draw, shutting it shortly after. She never thought much of herself as a leader, more so an advisor, after all, her path was different from that of a leader, and her insight suited for the role she fashioned for herself. Though there is more than one way to lead change, through guidance and assistance, ink and quill, blood and steel, but she knew one thing for sure, a group of people that must go through understanding must do so at their own pace, refusal will simply lead to ruin. Though some ideas ran through her mind.

She came to a stop as she pulled a seat out to sit upon it, thinking about her prior thoughts, as she mutters out one more comment.

"Ironic the thoughts you inspired in me, when most fail to make a substantial, coherent thought, and they believe themselves above the turning chaos of the world."
 
 

Laerdya looked over the missive again within the comfort of her home from prying eyes outside the Jade State, six jars upon a table, as a single un-gloved hand rubbed the grains of alchemical powder from one of these jars she'd produced a few Elven days ago with her teacher, looking over the words, as she pondered the situation the Silver State had found itself in.

"Perhaps a song?" she quietly asks herself, as she put the missive aside to focus on her studies, thoughts for later and others to speak to. Humming as she shifted focus.

I've heard many stories of players getting dossed, doxxed or sent disturbing images, and these were done entirely by the people to get their way on what happened with their MC RP mineman character or nation/group. Even with the suggestion of anonymizing details from evidence that could be used for harassment I'd assume the abuser would still have access to it, and I don't think it is exactly hard to get around an IP ban, I think maybe having a listing somewhere that just shows if a player is ToSed or not would be good, most of the time the community finds out about it one way or another. Either way, when it comes to making suggestions to these kinds of situations we have to assume the utter worse could happen, so we can better prevent it and stop it before it spirals further.

This is just straight up a bad idea, as it allows the abusers to identify who reported them and who didn't, depending on the severity of the individual who got banned can lead to stuff like doxxing and blackmailing off the server grounds and other horrible shit.

I brought Aether back in 2019 roughly, before many of the issues I have with LotC mounted upon each other, you can donate to a server (or spend time and effort on it) and still have issues with what unfolds. LotC is a strange place, I've had fun and I know others have had fun on the server, and then on the other times I and others simply haven't, and when situations like these happen, a change in culture needs to happen, I think some complaints about things being swept under the rug is not admins intentionally sweeping things under the rug, as I was DMing Joel just before we were talking about how more resources need to be available, we need to teach players how to be safe online when engaging in online communities, we need to offer the various communities within LotC the ability to self-moderate properly, this should have been done years ago, so while I may have lashed out at Joel today, he is not the problem at the end of the day, this is an issue that has been with administration, as far as I can tell, since the forming of the server, it requires the team to come together and actually provide meaningful options and resources to the community so in future none of these situations ever occur to this scale, no more promises an actual change, hopefully with the safety procedures that comes to pass.

While I might hate what happens on LotC in general, be it missteps of staff, or despicable treatment players endure by horrible people, not talking about such only will foster a worse community for LotC in the long run, time and time again, players see certain situations that have happened and wonder why x hasn't been banned for y and just begins forming a toxic culture, as it just seems the most effective way to deal with these situations is thrown whatever you can to the forums to cause a storm that can not be ignored. Though I do not care much for LotC in general, I still care about those in the community, I still have plenty of friends on the server, and just remaining silent about any of this only puts them and others who are vulnerable at risk to predators, it is the duty of all to maintain a safe environment, to be mindful and offer support when required.

Even if the person wasn't a friend, and I wasn't involved in the situation and only heard about, I would have lashed out all the same, I don't think it is fit for anyone to be in a position you are, and then rub in the face of a player a horrible situation they went through that was reported to admins. I honestly considered one of you the better admins up until recently, despite that not all the time our views aligning, despite some of my concerns about you. I don't know what it is, but ever since the whole basketball meme happened you've just lost it, I don't know what else I can say. Despite attempting to paraphrase my three years of frustration of watching friends or strangers alike having to go through these exact situations, to me only doing it because you happened to make a shitty remark to one of my friends (and let us be honest here, you haven't really done yourself many favors with the community over the past month). 

I honestly hope after you step down shit goes better for you, as I said people make mistakes, no one is entirely perfect, myself included as my messages are contradicting due my conflicting feelings, but LotC has that ability to draw out the worst in people, and ultimately, I don't believe in some cases it is out of malicious intentions, you had a good drive and at least had vision for the server, you got shit done. You at least in some form cared about the community imo. 

Idk what else to say or what to put, I just hope a productive step forward is taken, I just tire from all this drama (yes, by replying I acknowledge I am taking part in it, but it is hard to remain quiet after being so for about three years). I just want people to have fun.

But to refocus as I said, not much is there to offer in the form of recourse when situations like this unfold, most of the time it just ends up to people complaining about how/why people aren't banned and trying to get the evidence, but from what I've seen in a recent situation (and not so recent), if you give people a slap, they will be far more cautious proceeding forward, and limit the chances for the 'hard evidence' to be recorded.  My anger in this situation isn't purely directed Joel, as honestly, Joel isn't the only admin who has made mistakes (which is only human, no one is perfect) and for better or worse, current admins and future admins will inherent their predecessors actions and works, flaws and all. 

I feel often times from my talks with some of the admins I've had, that they don't really care for LotC, that it is honestly nothing more than 'CV fodder', as being able to say you manage a community that has 300~ daily unique visitors is no small feat, and as a result, I feel more care is given to the 'image of LotC' than the state of the server itself, and ultimately why I just feel in a paradoxical manner, radical, disruptive response is the only way to help LotC, we only need to crawl through the forums and find these instances are not unique, and happen time and time again, which begs the question, if we can not trust admins to handle these cases properly, who are we to trust.

Now that ramble is out of the way, another reason why I did what I did was the treatment of one of my friends by Joel, I can't remember the full details, so I won't go try to delve into them, but it was utterly disgusting to hear and just annoys me, I feel referencing a shitty situation a player went through just because they pissed you off is just gross, months on end I watched this situation unfold, as I ******* begged and pleaded for a scumbag to be removed from the server for his deranged treatment of another individual. How is this meant to build confidence in any player if situations like these if they're ******* weaponized against the players. How am I meant to believe any promises of change is meant to happen when an admin told us they banned that individual, when in fact, they are self-banned. 

So the purpose of me sending that screenshot was not in an attempt to slander those in the Discord, most of you are still cool, and I understand being kicked if that is what actually happened. I will say, people in that Discord were doing their best to get rid of KP from the server. But for your question of if it was worth it, hopefully, I just want people to be safe in this community, I don't want people to go through terrible suffering over a minecraft server, and ultimately, I honestly believe the only way that can happen is with a clean slate and proper procedures established ASAP. Though really one can only hope.

Laerdya looked about as she came across the missive, before taking one for herself to read in private. She read over the words and felt they were echoing of things said prior by many as she thought to herself  "Plenty have and will repeat this statement, time and time again, regardless of the type of Mali they are. Yet despite this 'communal' desire, our kind remains divided, for this to happen, many malian will have to surrender their power, as some should, many of our nations lie battered and dying, yet many cling to the lofty dream of their nations that have been driven into the grave of reviving, all they offer is assurances and worthless promises that will be broken, that things will improve. Perhaps we'd already reached the potential height we could have long ago and are just simply walking ghosts, waiting for time to claim the malian as it should." She came to a rise from the seat she was resting in, as her figure moved towards a kitchen to gather some food, several ideas begin to take root in the woman's mind, as she then remarked to herself "Perhaps one worthy may rise, who cares to listen to advice given to them, who is able to defeat ages worth of systems built up to protect petty rulers who care not for their people, only the little power they hold. Though, the odds are stacked against them.." She quietly adds, her mind turned away from the missive now.

A Mali'Aheral was within a deep slumber as this dream occurred to her, much clearer compared to the strange twisting and turnings of her usual wanderings of her sleep. It stuck with her even when she awoke, wondering the meaning of such, a divine looking figure she'd never beheld before along with a strange omen, it was interesting to her nevertheless, given her recent infatuation of divine beings, she would speak with others to try and discover the meaning of such. "Let us hope this provides as a boon. Though I feel this is warning."

**** it, one struggle, we don't want LotC to be Lord of the Craft anymore, this **** is Lord of the Ball now. 

Seriously, why would you ban this, it may have been 'modern' but it could have easily been toned down, and it isn't unlike in real life for sporting to have existed, soccer was invented back in ancient China. This is generally sad to see happen, as this was honestly really refreshing to see even though I hadn't taken any part in it.

Laerdya had the missive read to her, speaking with the Mali who wrote the missive in the tavern, she found the concept interesting to say the least. She wandered home after the discussion, still having a copy of the missive of her own. She sat and pondered in front of the fire place within her small home, the possibilities of all the future outcomes of this went through her mind, the woman dwelled upon such for sometime before she got up, remarking "A Silver Soul will be found." She went off to find some a few individuals to show them the missive and discuss.

An 'Ame looked through the missive as it passed into her hands, gazing over the words written upon the paper before tucking it aside as she pondered to herself "Our kind remains shattered and broken no matter where one looks, children of our kind tortured by filthy zealots, and many hung up, as if we serve as trophies to be displayed, yet the only response most of our kind can offer is just words, no action, no lead, no example for Malian to follow." Her thoughts paused as she whistled for her horse, jumping up into the saddle before she began to ride off "Perhaps I shall pay Fenn a visit and see if much has changed since I last met them." She thought, though it was likely, the woman was going to wander until she found other Mali she deemed suitable to band together with, but perhaps things could be different from she would originally think.

A Mali'Aheral looked over these words as she sat somewhere private, and just simply pondered on these words, a wealth of possibilities and ideas begin to form in her mind. "Very interesting.." Is all she remarked quietly to herself.
