    Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

             

    Wonks are toad/frog-like creatures which share traits with both descendants and their amphibian counterparts. They possess long frog-like tongues, can breath, and see underwater all with ease, though may not speak underwater, as they may drown doing that. There are two primary subspecies of wonks, those being the Toad and Frog wonks. The former holds more toad-like characteristics, such as lumpy skin, and are shorter and darker, not exceeding [4’7”] though not being shorter than [4’1”]. Frog Wonks, on the other hand, have much smoother skin and are much lankier and a bit taller than their toad counterparts. These wonks may not exceed [5’0”] nor go under [4’6”], and may be more colorful than Toad Wonks, typically having lighter shades of skin. A majority of Wonks live to be about a hundred and twenty years old, and due to their lesser souls, cannot learn or practice most forms of magic. Wonks typically like more wet and moist environments, especially in their older years, as they become more dependent on water to survive.

    That’s where issues start to come in. You have a magical curse that can’t be removed by Paladins and will get these new people classified as ‘dark’ or ‘undead’ or whatever else due to this aging curse. I don’t think this has been fully thought through, tbh.


    I guess it’s sort of like the descendant race curses, such as elven infertility or human aging, in this case being a more severe form of the latter. Not necessarily something one can just flick away with a simple holy spell.
