    Ban Reason

Inappropriate Language and Toxicity During Raid

What circumstances led to this ban?

I’ll keep this relatively short because having been over 7 months ago, I don’t remember very much.

The incident occurred in a raid against Balian when I and a party of Ferrymen ended up in a CRP altercation. While the defenders wanted to continue with CRP, we fought to call PvP, and eventually roleplay was paused to wait for mod ruling. In sheer frustration and lack of good judgment, I began to act out of line and became unnecessarily hostile to the defending side. While I don’t remember exactly what was said, I can recall attacking people personally and harshly, and acting outright vulgarly. Even after having been asked to stop by fellow Ferrymen, I continued, and after the raid was canceled in light of my actions, I was rightfully banned.

Are there aspects of the ban you agree and/or disagree with?

Firstly, I apologize for acting and escalating a situation the way I did. I also apologize to those people who I directly attacked. It was absolutely uncalled for, and it was selfish of me to do so.

No, I agree with my ban in its entirety. I believe in that moment I presented myself as a person unfit for the server, and the decision to ban me was absolutely warranted. I understand that LoTC for many is an escape from real life, and when I act in such a way for the sake of some selfish laughs, the server loses its comforting essence.

What motivates you to return to LOTC?

I’ve been on the server for over five years now, and over that time I've made several friends with whom I'd like to return and play with again. While at times I've obviously shown bad character, LoTC has been a source of happiness for me over the years, and I really do wish to continue that. At the end of the day, 7 months isn’t a very long time, but I hope you can understand that I truly have reflected on my actions and am a better – and more mature – person. This ban has helped me realize the environment I should strive to make LoTC.

  2. Iscesi, from the distant whereabouts of his holiday retreat, watched as the envelope flew down a lengthy chimney, the only thing serving an entrance to he and his isolation. He pressed his thumb against the Ferrymen sigil, and having been the only word of his faction in years, he instantly, and albeit slowly, read aloud the contents to his only companion on the isle - a feline named Meow.

He hadn't known of this peace, it was something unlike the Ferrymen, so rightfully he concluded his dreary absence must have provoked this armistice. No fighting force is a good force without their best warrior.

    "...no clear oppressor... horrible people..."

He muttered, only bothering to skim the rest until reaching the edict,

    "FACE MY MEN"

Oh, how he thought! This must mean his key to freedom. Surely a scallywag would come in due time to save him from this barbaric and cruel punishment - for what, he really didn't know - to return on the Ferrymen fighting line.

And so, he comforted himself in the firm cushion, and will wait there until his savior makes sign.

Fishron, the subject of sailor superstition and mythos - inhabitant of wretched seas and thought to be the sole hand of sunken galleons and vessels alike. Accounts of the vile and scabrous beast dub tusks piercing its swine-like facade - a colossal body with wings extruding the pasty emerald hue of what could only be centuries of sea debris built upon its stocky figure. With only a single fin to flaunt the illusion of a familiar animal, Fishron will lure sea laborers off hunting routes to thrash their frail and rickety wooden vessels until capsizing into the harsh abyss below.

Since the first tales of Fishron arose years ago, fishermen, whalers, and hunters alike have attempted the endeavor of poaching the beast - with promises of riches and wealth to parade should it be done. Numerous times have fleets doubled in size, all to commence voyage and never be seen again.

But there tells of a single sailor who faced the beast head on and lived to tell the tale - a whaler by the name of Vance Wellerman. Aboard a hunting ship over a hundred years ago did the man humbly work before the night of great peril struck. He recalls howling winds and waves larger than the ship itself, and the grieving cries of fellow crewmen suffering the brutal creature in the waters overboard. Luckily did Vance find and flee on a door before the ship went under, views of Fishron terrorizing the men he called brothers just under the horizon.

Six days were spent traversing the unforgiving seas on merely a flimsy wooden door - starving, thirsty and frail. Upon landfall would Vance return to the city of Freeport where he recalled the memories of the agonizing event. They mocked, laughed, and degraded the man - it was their fault for sailing to a storm. For years he attempted to salvage his respect - but to no avail, Vance forever lived to prove Fishron’s existence - to which he did not succeed before his time.

I, Duke Wellerman, son of Vance Wellerman, live to redeem my father and justify the existence of Fishron. A life of taunting and mocking enveloped him into a forever hiding. I will succeed in his name, and shall begin by offering a bounty of

    500 MINAE

To any sailor who returns the beast of Fishron to I - dead or alive.

I can be found by the docks of Petra.

    Ban Reason

    Inappropriate OOC Behavior

What circumstances led to this ban?

Myself and others in a raid party entered Celia’nor with intent to cause general roleplay-havoc. While grouped at the city entrance, an innocent bystander asked in LOOC what was going on. I responded with, “rape roleplay.”

What seemed like an admittedly dark joke in the moment soon showed to have significant consequences. I had failed to consider how what I said really impacts the nature of the server and its community. I would especially like to make my apology on this given the current situation that’s been brought to the server. Jokes on this topic have no place on the server and I would greatly like to apologize for my use of them.

Are there aspects of the ban you agree and/or disagree with?

There are no aspects of this ban which I disagree with. It was wrong of me to blatantly ignore the server’s rules which reflect poorly on not only myself, but those I was with and the server itself. I didn’t display the standard of maturity I am capable of and should be showing on LoTC.

While four months is not enough to mold a new person out of someone, I believe it can allow for them to reflect on their actions. Since my ban, I have spoken with members of the community and have begun to understand the impression these actions leave and how a ban has served as a time to better myself. I personally would also be disgusted with the jokes I made if I were to hear them now.

What motivates you to return to LOTC?

LoTC has served me as an opportunity to meet new people which I have continued to befriend even outside of Minecraft.

This server is at a constant change, and is something I hope to continue to see as I have done for the past four years. With a new map, I wish to return to the server and show that I am capable of being a good player on the server.

    Attach other relevant information.

I would like to apologize to the player I directly may have insulted, as well as everyone else involved in the situation. I sincerely hope that you can forgive me and that we can interact with each other again in the future on better terms, but I understand if this will take more time. If anyone from this incident would like to speak with me or receive a more personal apology, feel free to add me on discord and I’ll be happy to talk.

Inappropriate OOC Behavior (My minecraft will not open up for some reason, can't take a screenshot)

What circumstances led to this ban?

Myself and a raid-party entered Celia’nor with intent to halt and cause general malicious havoc. While having a player halted at the gatehouse, a player innocently asked in LOOC what the situation was - I responded with, “rape roleplay”.

In the moment, the comment seemed harmless, and I thought it could be interpreted as such; though upon reflection I've realized the true harm these actions have on the community. Simply said, to avoid a ban in the future is censoring my language in chat. These measures clearly cause danger to the community and are easily avoidable through consideration before action.

Are there aspects of the ban you agree and/or disagree with?

I completely understand and agree with all aspects surrounding the details of my ban. Not only was what I said harmful to the community in general, but I shed a bad image on myself and the party in which I was with. Having thought it was just an innocent joke, I clearly didn’t display the true maturity I am capable of and should be displaying on LoTC.

After the fact of my ban, a player I had been raiding with explained how these events truly did impact the server, myself, and the image of our faction. I reflected upon that and realized the truth of my misconduct, and how a ban will serve as a time to further reflect and better myself.

What motivates you to return to LOTC?

This group that I had been with at the time of my ban I consider more than just people I roleplay with, but friends outside of the server. I met them, learned from them, and enjoyed time with them on LoTC, and that’s something I truly value and wish to continue. The server is at a constant change, something I want to resume experiencing having been playing for nearly four years now.

Besides having friends on the server, LoTC has taught me numerous things about myself and has bettered me as a person. I’ve done many things I regret and have reflected on and think the server has much more to provide to me. This time away from the server has been for the better, and has changed the way I view LoTC.

I sincerely apologize to anyone who I may have offended - especially who I spoke to directly.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Transfiguration

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Transfiguration is a voidal magic designed around combining elements of the void with the physical world. This includes things like physically changing the shape of an object, or putting magical energy into an item to create an enchantment. Transfiguration can also be used to create wards or disenchant items by removing magical energy from the physical world. All of this is accomplished by the manipulation of the natural mana that exists within objects in the mortal world, and requires a great amount of knowledge on how the world and its properties function for full effect. The vast complexity of this magic ultimately requires that it takes two slots as opposed to most voidal magics taking one slot.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Transfiguration is divided up into several different abilities involving the connection of magic and the real world -

Voidal feeling is the use of magical energy to evaluate the attributes of an item. The object must be unliving in order for this to work properly, so it cannot be done on people or creatures. For this spell, the mage must drain from their own mana into the object they want to evaluate, and slowly allow it to inspect all the workings and details of the item. Once completed, the mana is brought back to the mage who can gain the information about the object. It is a long process that requires a distraction free environment (non-combative).

Transmutation works off of the information gained through Voidal feeling, and is used to manipulate an object. In order to do this, the mage must use their own mana to manipulate the natural mana within the object they want to change, and alter its physical features. This can be manipulating its permanent traits like shape, and density, or even something like changing its temperature and position. It also allows for the fusion and fission of materials, which are combining and separating through magical means. The size of the transmutated object is related to how long it takes to change, with bigger objects taking longer. It is non-combative.

Enchanting permanently inserts magic into an item, to give it the ability of replicating a spell and its own limited mana pool. There are three main levels of enchantment, Lesser, Potent and Grand. Each one contains a different level of magic in the objects. Lesser enchantments can't offer any combat advantage, and are very small magical effects. Potent enchantments are any spells up to tier 3 that can be used in combat. Tier 4 and 5 spells require Grand enchantments. It is impossible to make an enchantment without understanding the material that is being enchanted and the magic used for enchanting. A transfigurationist who wants to make a water evocation enchantment needs to either know water evocation, or work with someone who does through co-enchanting.

Warding and Abjuration are the only combative spells in transfiguration. A ward shield is a shield of anti-magic energy that can deactivate any spells that collide against it. This is done by the mana of the shield pulling apart the mana that is condensed into the spell. Ward shields can only protect against magics that the transfigurationist knows or has known at some point. Abjuration works in a similar way except instead of an active shield, it is a projectile the speed of an arrow and size of a baseball that can collide and stop oncoming spells.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

Iscesi inhaled deeply, preparing to take on a great amount of mana. He stayed calm as he reached out and connected with the voidal plane, establishing an anchor. His eyes flared with magical energy, and purple wisps enveloped him demonstrating a magical aura.

Iscesi carefully placed his hand over a piece of steel, allowing mana to flow from his fingers and penetrate the steel. He strained himself just enough to ensure there would be enough mana to mingle with the mana of the object entirely.

After a few moments, Iscesi pulled back his hand slightly. He pulled the mana back upwards, having it evacuate the steel and return to him.

As it returned, he analyzed the information within the mana, allowing him to complete the voidal feeling of the piece of steel and learn the properties of its natural magical energy.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

Isecsi looked to his student and carefully placed his hand over the bar of steel. "To properly voidally feel an item you need to combine your energy with yours. Think of it as becoming a part of you." He slowly exuded his mana into the bar. "You want to be gentle with it, use enough mana that you can feel the substance adequately but don't over exert yourself or try to force it. It's a friendly experience."

Iscesi continued hovering his hand over the bar, making sure the mana was doing it's work. "It can take a while, especially with more complicated materials, but patience is important when getting to know someone." he explained.

Once he felt that all the mana he had put into the material had analyzed the steel successfully, he slowly began to lift his hand and withdraw the mana. "Pull back the mana once you're done, and listen to what it tells you as it returns. It is the key element that holds all the understanding." he explained.

Iscesi completed withdrawing his mana and moved his hand away again. "And now, I understand the innate properties of this steel. Any questions?"

    Student asks questions

    Iscesi answers the questions.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

I would inform them of their mistake and make sure they know the way they should actually use the magic. If they were to do it outside of a lesson, I would have them tell me what they did and make sure they understand exactly what's wrong with it, and also make them apologize to the other side if they were in combat so they know not to make the mistake again. If it became a repeated issue, I would drop them from my TA.
