Demetrius' parents were married in Oren, all their children being born and raised in Dobrov. Their first child, Lewis Pyreblood, and the most beloved Pyreblood among his people and his family. Demetrius despised his elder brother, jealous of the way he was praised and rewarded for the littlest things, while he thought himself to be more worthy of such attention. Next was the Pyreblood's eldest daughter, Wilfrieda. Unlike his relationship with Lewis, Demetrius got along extremely well with his sister, and admired her for her incredible potential which was ultimately wasted by his family.

At fifteen, Demetrius finally found what he thought to be his calling. Once he felt certain about this career path, he did not hesitate to begin researching languages as much as possible. He started investing into books and other resources with the little money he had. His sister also helped with his funding, which only added onto the deep respect and appreciation he had for her. Lewis, his eldest brother attempted to offer some money, though Demetrius assumed it was a way to get him to owe his brother, refusing the offer all together. However, Demetrius did manage to find himself a job at a library, and thankfully it payed just for research.

The Pyreblood family followed the common religion of Canonism. However, Demetrius found himself a part of New Adunian Creationism. At twenty-one he left this religion, and refrained from worshipping any gods. Not out of any atheistic beliefs, but out of the feeling that he cannot find a religion that he thought was true, and that none he could find really felt right. He holds no hatred towards the religious. Instead, he actually envies those who have found a religion they feel comfortable in, something he has not been able to accomplish so far.

By twenty-two, Demetrius quickly realised his current job was no longer a viable option if he wished to start travelling the continent. Ultimately, he ended up quitting his job, using his life savings to go find a job somewhere else. However, he didn't think to worry about the specific type of job. Demetrius occasionally returns to Dobrov to visit, though mostly out of nostalgia. He bares no hatred towards his family. Besides Lewis, Demetrius actually adores his kin, including his recently born infant brother who he does not get the chance to see much anymore as the close relationship he held with his family slowly begins to dwindle.

Somewhere around twenty-three, Demetrius finds a job that can not only fund his research, but also allows him to save up some money for the future. He took on the role as a private tutor for rich families- Though, he never had the chance to work for nobles, nor did he want to. Most of his students were rather well behaved, though when in this line of work, you always get that handful that refuse to listen, and instead prefer to defy the authority of their tutor. At 25, after a few years of tolerance and patience, he finally has enough money to start wandering the continent without the worry of starvation.
