    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: To avoid Powergaming, players are encouraged to alter their phrasing to suggest an 'attempt' at an attack, and by allowing the opposing player to emote in response to such an attempt.
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: metagaming, as it involves leveraging knowledge that exists outside the character's experience in the roleplay narrative. This practice undermines the integrity of any roleplay conducted with unfairly gained information.

Roleplay Scenario:

Born among the Highlander folk of the northern frontiers, Janos of Varghem was not of great nobility but of stubborn will and a fierce devotion to the Canon. From boyhood he learned war at the edge of axe and flame, defending his village from raiders and beasts. The hardships of his youth forged him into a commander of men, one who valued faith, loyalty, and the sword in equal measure.

As he grew, Janos pledged himself to the service of both God and kingdom, leading levies and knights alike in countless skirmishes against those who would see mankind undone. Though scarred and weary, he gained renown as a stalwart defender, a banner of hope to the weak and downtrodden.

Yet victory came with cost. After years of ceaseless war, his heart grew restless. With peace uncertain and the realms of Aevos ever shifting, Janos now sets forth from his homeland—seeking new battles, new causes, and perhaps, redemption.

For reasons such as:

  • Sorry Choom, you need to make an original character! Your character draws heavily from "Jackie Welles" from Cyberpunk 2077. Feel free to edit your current application to reflect an original character. No need to edit your Powergaming and Metagaming answer and response and physical description. Remember to make your backstory six sentences, including an action in response to the original prompt. I've included the prompt for your reference to help.


    Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

  • Please be aware LOTC is a different universe than the LOTR with our own lore and cultures, please remove any mention of 'the Haradrim people', a suggestion, maybe Janos was a member of a local militia, defending his village from bandits? Please make sure to frame a response to the original prompt, with some dialogue. I've attached below to help!

  • You're so nearly there! I understand it may be difficult to grip such a big universe but please avoid making yourself some renowned figure or leader: people on this server have lot's of history so if you were to come in saying you were a leader of people when none have heard of you it would be a violent clash to ideals! Overall try to make yourself a person: you could well have just been a soldier or mercenary trying make ends meet, but a battle weary ex-leader is far fetched!

 

You have 48 hours to make these changes otherwise I will unfortunately have to deny your application. When you have finished please message me on the forums or contact me on Discord @itsjustmemorgan to let me know so I can review it!
