    In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Make choices based on who your character is, not just what gets the best result. Let them mess up sometimes. Be brave, scared, selfish whatever fits
    In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming takes the fun and fairness out of roleplay. It turns what should be a shared story into more of a strategy game, where players make decisions based on what they know, not what their characters would actually do. And that kind of kills the heart of good roleplay.

Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

“…You’ve… been expecting me?” My voice comes out quieter than I mean it to. I clear my throat. “I don’t even know how I ended up here. I was just following a light in the fog. I thought maybe it was a guidepost or a ferry, not—this.” I shift my weight from one foot to the other, eyes flicking from the floating candles to her face, then back to the exit.

For reasons such as:

  • Your application does not have a Java Edition IGN attached to it, please edit your application to have an IGN (What people see you ingame as, not your launcher), Bedrock edition is not compatible with LOTC and you will not be able to login from that version of Minecraft.

Ensure to include an example in your response, please put what Powergaming is, and what you can do to avoid it. If you're having a hard time writing something down/or don’t know how else to word it, contact a community member. If you need help, please feel free to reach out.
  • Please make sure to include at least full six sentences in your roleplay scenario! If you’re stumped on what to add. I recommend saying where you are from, how was it growing up? Maybe talk about your parents? Etc.
