    ON DEFAMATION AND HEARSAY

The circulating newspaper “Hearsay of Haense” has without a doubt made its rounds, shocking each reader with its vile contents slandering many of our country’s finest men and women. It has certainly made its way to the Justiciar’s department. It is only within the interests of safety in the Kingdom that the Office of the Justiciar launches an investigation into the identity and whereabouts of the author or authors of these foul documents.

Denizens who have any information regarding the identity of the author(s) may send a bird to the Duchy of Valwyck or the palace, or schedule a meeting with the Justiciar directly. Rewards for information may apply, and informants will remain anonymous*, their information held in confidence.

To the author(s) of Hearsay directly,

Tales of your misdeeds are told from Valwyck to Yong Ping. Turn yourself into authorities for your crimes against the Haeseni, else face the most severe of consequences for your acts.

*Informants might expect to be called as a witness if any trial takes place regarding Hearsay of Haense.

Thus, information regarding the use or distribution of drugs within the Kingdom is also requested, informants promised confidence until trial and possible reward. If army personnel or denizens see these crimes in public, do your CIVIC DUTY to stop it. This Kingdom will not be corrupted by the malice of these addictive substances. Good people do not smoke Cactus Green or inhale Quartz Powder!

In order to better enforce our law and discover the perpetrators of the crimes listed in this report, the Office of the Justiciar also seeks to employ good subjects of the Crown interested in detective work. Contact the office for more information. Your identity as an agent of the royal detectives may remain secretive.

This Summons, issued on 12th of Gronna and Droba, 360 ES by the Crown and represented by High Justiciar Duke Matyas Baruch,

Compels the Aulic Court to call upon Gustaven von Halsfield, as alleged leader of his Criminal Organization the Black Crow, and all members of the Black Crow, to appear before it and answer the following charges:

217.03: The recruitment for other military organizations, be they foreign or illegal domestic groups, shall constitute a crime without the consent of the Crown, to be punished at the discretion of the Aulic Court.

25:012: Being found to be the creator or leader of a Criminal Organization shall be a severe offence.

425.01: Membership of a group deemed to be a Criminal Organization by the Aulic Council and His Majesty the King will be illegal.

    Arisen from these circumstances:

Gustaven von Halsfield took command of the Haense Adventuring Guild following the resignation of its former leader Alad. Evidence was uncovered of mister von Halsfield reaching out to many people, including Haeseni subjects, to have them join an anti-Orenian militant organization, with no consent of the Crown, and based in Haense (specifically under the guise of his Adventuring Guild, actually called 'the Black Crow'). Those members that swore fealty and apologized to His Majesty are deemed to be pardoned for their participation in the organization.

I swear the contents of this Summons to be true and accurate to the best of my belief before Godan.

    @InfamousGerman

    PREFACE.

“Since the establishment of the House of Vanir in the year 1576, there has been a great many notable Vanirs that have amassed insurmountable amounts of prestige for themselves, which evidently many have failed to be aptly recognized in Haeseni history.

Lord Fiske I, Margrave of Vasiland is among the many members of the honorable house of Vanir that has failed to be mentioned as a notable Lord of Hanseti-Ruska.

In this study, you’ll find the beginnings of Lord Fiske’s life, his family life, and his ultimate turn to become the first vassal lord of House Vanir in the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska ; which hosts a great many noteworthy achievements that have gone unmarked for far too long.

With this study, I seek to dedicate it to the life of the second Lord of House Vanir, Margrave Fiske Vanir. May you read this and be enlightened on the enriched life of the Honorable, Fiske ‘The Bloody’.”

    Matyas Baruch.

    Valwyck, 356 E.S.

    CHILDHOOD.

The young Vanir was born in Kraken’s Watch in the year 1524. Fiske was fathered by Lord Britannus Vanir and mothered by Emilia Vladov. His early youth matured around his younger siblings; brother Lukas Vanir and sister Emma Vanir. With his childhood taking place during a period directly succeeding the Duke’s Wars, his life with his family was spent in exile before his father’s eventually regained nobility as an Imperial vassal.

While it is known that the future patriarch formed sturdy bonds between his two younger siblings; the relationship he shared with his brother Lukas would ultimately transcend well into his adult life.

Before his grasp onto adulthood, Fiske warded underneath his father, Britannus which granted him extensive knowledge of diplomacy that eventually would see benefit as he turned towards elevating his family’s house to that of a Margraviate.

    ~

    MARRIAGE & FAMILY LIFE.

From the very day Fiske was born, his future as the heir to the House of Vanir wasn’t of great certainty after the defeat in the Duke’s War. Similarly it was uncertain for who he’d marry and build a family with. Family records reveal little to no knowledge about the inner workings of the marriage between Lady Halyna Barrow and Lord Fiske Vanir but, it is known that the sea faring House would carry on as the pair parented respectfully four children; Brandon Vanir, Katherine Vanir, Sigmund Vanir and Emilia Vanir.

    LIFE.

Margrave Fiske Vanir, the first Margrave of Vasiland and second Lord of the sea faring House of Vanir began his tenure as patriarch at the mature age of forty-eight as he bore the title Baron of Kraken’s Watch following his father’s death in 1572, which marked the beginning of an eleven year-long reign as the Vanir patriarch ultimately seeing the existence of the Northern Unification.

During Fiske’s long life, he was revered by his compatriots as the true embodiment for what any Haeseni should aspire to be. As the son of Baron Britannus Vanir, the Lord Paramount of the Carnatian League had awfully large shoes to fill. Never wavering the Vanir lord proved doubters beyond reasonable belief and underneath his guidance and instruction, he led thousands of Haeseni troops during both the Riga War and the Krajian Rebellion, all throughout gaining a favorable reputation that continues to be admired by the Haeseni over two hundred years later.

Regardless of the fact of being dubbed Fiske ‘The Bloody’, the staunch Haeseni loyalist’s fervor was never questioned after he led many battles, notably the victorious Siege of Kraken’s Watch, which resulted in the reclaimage of House Vanir’s castle of Kraken’s Watch and subsequently his House’s elevation to be part Haense’s higher nobility(Baruch, Kovachev); the Margraviate of Vasiland.

From the time he was but a boy to the very day of his passing, Lord Fiske Vanir maintained a presence unlike any other, striking fear upon his foes and utilizing his diplomatic knowledge from his father to cleverly weave his way through a war-riddled life. Fiske later in life continued his service to the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska until later passing on the reins to his eldest son, Brandon Vanir.

    ~

    DEATH.

Later in his life, the elder Margrave of Vasiland would reach the senior age of sixty-six before passing peacefully by bedside by way of old age. Despite the little record recounted of the storied life of Margrave Fiske Vanir, it is known that he passed by bedside surrounded by his loved ones including the like of his brother, Palatine Lukas Vanir. Directly following his passing, his eldest son Brandon Vanir succeeded his father as the second Lord of Vanir underneath the vassalage of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska and third Lord of Vanir since his Britannus’ elevation to Imperial nobility.

    Issued By

    THE DUKE OF VALWYCK

    On the 14th of Tov & Yermey, 353 E.S.

    Va ve Jovenaar i Haense,

A multitude of acts are rejected at the behest of the Duma vote, as has been seen in recent years. The Josefian reforms have also brought a period of great change to the procedure of the Duma. However, as the Duma cannot legislate on itself (see Aulic Court Review: Relationship Between the Royal Duma and the Aulic Government), this request for review must be issued.

As a sitting member of the Duma, and peer of the realm, the Duke of Valwyck sees fit to defer to the Aulic Court for a legal opinion on the following:

The Haurul Caezk states that a bill of the Royal Duma must be passed by majority vote and may become law with the confirmation of the Koeng following its majority vote, implicating that it is failed when said bill does not reach these requisites:

    • 212.01: Members of the Duma may submit bills to the Royal Duma that must be passed by majority vote;
    • 212.042: Once passed with a majority vote, a legislative bill shall require assent from the Crown to become binding law;

The question that should be raised is whether or not a bill that has failed to reach these requisites after being introduced in the Duma should have the ability to be reintroduced, unaltered, in the Duma sessions following its failure, including the cohort contrary to the one it was first presented in.

The Aulic Court is thus requested to publish a legal opinion on this matter of Duma procedure.

His Grace, Matyas, Duke of Valwyck

  7. "Thinking? Ah swear, if this boy 'ad an idea, it would die of loneliness." Matyas Baruch huffed as he read the document, ranting to his grandfather Sigmar. "These Wicks only 'ave one oar in the water sometimes. Sedition is sedition, an' treason is treason. LAW AND ORDER must be upheld."

    Our Background

The Baruch Trading Company was an idea formed from Duke Matyas and Maverik Baruch. The House of Baruch had acquired a decent sum from their part in Baruch & Kortrevich Publishing, and subsequently Matyas’ grandfather’s successful “Golden Crow Chronicles”.  Also, the “Baruch’s Bees” shop had some profits as well – the Baruchs had already established themselves as adept businessmen.

With this money, the two cousins afforded a shopfront in New Reza with the idea of selling products oft enjoyed in the much further northern reaches of Haense. They stocked the shelves, hoping to spread aspects of far-northern culture to the Royal City.

    Collection

Baruch Toy Boats - A toy boat, meticulously carved to resemble the boats that sit in the Haeseni northern harbour. The sails are black and gold, the color of the reigning house of Haense, House Barbanov. Details are finally carved into the sides and back of the boat, and a nautical figurehead resembling Lady Haense is carved into the bow. The name, “The Sea Crow” is carved onto the Stern.

Jan Daniels - A clear glass bottle encases a whiskey with rich color, signature of the oak barrels it matures in. Its taste includes an explosion of caramel and vanilla flavors, with the whiskey’s notes of fruit and oak.

Baruch Spittin’ Tobacco - A sack of finely shredded tobacco leaves sweetened with sugarcane. The finely shredded leaves leave a grainy texture perfect for spittin’ tobacco. On the back of the can is instruction. Step 1 - take a chunk out of the sack. Step 2 - place it in the side of your mouth. Step 3 - enjoy.

Baruch Biscuits  - Baruch style biscuits walk the line of being flaky and tender. These crisp delicious biscuits come with a stick of goat cultured butter made by the goats that roam the countryside of Valwyck.

Baruch Toy Whale - A toy Sperm Whale carved out of the whale bone of the slain “Eerie Richard” which was taken down by the Baruch clan on their pristine ship “The Sea Crow”.

Valstadt Castle Snow Globes - This snow globe encases Valstadt Castle, the seat of House Baruch in Valwyck. It captures the frigid essence of the northern keep by including snow which dances around when the globe is shook. (the snow in the globe is artificial and not to be eaten.)

Valwyck Cigars - The Valwyck Cigar is a large, rolled bundle of dried and fermented tobacco leaves. On it, a sticker is wrapped around the top of the cigar with the words ‘Baruch Trading Company’. Because of its size, it can be smoked for upwards of one hour before dying out.

  10. Spoiler

Josef Alimar returned to his chambers, having tucked away his only daughter and given her a peck on the forehead. As he slowly paced to his desk, he stopped frequently to fix each nook – straightening each portrait that was tilted just slightly, positioning every book in a bookshelf to have a pleasing effect, wiping away some dust that might have formed... Finally reaching his desk, he pulled out his will from a shelf that he had organized the day prior and centered the document on the empty table. He leaned back into his chair, sighing, glaring to a painting of him, his father, and his uncle. Slowly, a hand reached to another shelf. One that had been untouched. From it, he pulled a silver dagger. Without even glancing to the weapon, instead preferring to keep his gaze directed at the painting, he shoved it into his throat- ending him rightly.

    “GIVE NOT, YIELD NOT”

    History

Founded in the spring of 1773 following the death of Godfric Alimar ‘The Charred’ at the hands of Scyfling invaders, the Muldav Company was commissioned to the Princely House of Alimar for its years of unparalleled service to the realm, with the assent of His Royal Majesty, Sigismund II, King of Haenseni-Ruska and His Excellency, the Lord-Marshal Erwin Barclay, Duke of Reinmar.

Serving the purpose of utilising newly unearthed military technologies such as the Chatnik Blastbow, an alchemical marvel invented by one Lothar Vladislav Alimar, along with other alchemical weaponry and acting as an extra-Reznian branch of the HRA within the the southern reaches of Haense, the Company can now safeguard the reclaimed territories and clear the lands of any straggling Ruberni barbarians.

Today this band of cossacks serves under the banners of Hanseti-Ruska and Alimar as a unit of scouts and cannoneers in the forested lowlands of Haense, keeping peace in the borderlands and highways of the kingdom.

    OTHAMANIC DOCTRINE

As a part of the HRA, soldiers of the Muldav Company are expected to face the following tenets, the Othamanic Doctrine, else they will face consequences.

You shall hold no other allegiance, and be pure to your oath. Be not corruptible.

Be calm, strong, polite, and resolute. Show valor in the field, and chivalry at home.

Never surrender yourself nor your brothers; bring your honor, or death.

Triumph through discipline. Submit to this law; First my orders, then myself.

Grasp the purpose of each duty, so you may one day take up the torch of leadership.

Against an honorable foe, fight with chivalry, but to the dishonorable, extend no quarter.

Keep true to your people. Offer your life in place of theirs.

Be strong, true, and loyal to his Majesty and the Haense Royal Army.

    THE OATH OF SAINT KARL

Moreover, all initiates who wish to rank up within the Haense Royal Army are expected to take the Oath of Saint Karl. Soldiers of the Muldav Company do not have an exception. They will be expected to recite the following,

To my left I see my fellow brothers, to the right I see the same.

For all in the world, we fight for the peace of this land.

Through God, he gave us stewardship of the realm.

Through stewardship, we gained the knowledge of diligence and prudence.

Through diligence, we may conquer all without fault.

And if I should falter in my course, send me never to the skies above.

If I should succeed, bestow unto me His blessings, forevermore.

For now, I march into a valley through which there is no path.

And the stones cascade behind me, to seal my retreat.

Though in this valley, I find my Brothers, Now I am named Guardian of My Homeland.

Should I falter, my shield shall turn to ash,

    But I shall not falter.

    THE OATH OF SAINT KARL

Golden Crow of Valor, for those who performed beyond what was expected, a miracle through God in service to the Golden Crow of Haense. It is the most supreme of the medals in the Haeseni Royal Army, a medal pinned by His Majesty personally upon its recipient, and additionally granted a sum of minas. The medal is composed of a Golden Crow upon a black field.

Cross of Saint Karl, rarely awarded and not given to those who simply die in battle, but only for those who die as a martyr in service of the Kingdom. It is a medal awarded posthumously to the closest of kin. It is a reminder of Saint Karl Barbanov, the progenitor of the Haeseni State. The medal is composed of a Golden Cross, with the initials K.B. inscribed onto it.

Cross of Woldzmir, awarded to those who have defended their brothers in faith against tremendous odds while facing those of opposing religion, the Cross of Woldzmir is named after the famed warrior-woman Saint Emma Vladov and her strategic prowess during the Schismatic Wars of 1490. The medal is composed of a golden Hussariyan cross on a circular white background.

Sparrow’s Valor, awarded to those who have proven capable in the ability of leading men, Sparrow’s Valor is named after Saint Thomas of Gaekrin, the once Crown Prince of Kaedrin who led countless victories in conquering the Elven State of Malinor and defending against the invading Dwarven Armies in the First Human-Dwarf War. The medal is composed of a black, flying sparrow across a yellow shield.

Vydrian Banner, awarded to those men who rally up and defeat a greater force against all odds. Named after the late Orenian King Andrik Vydra, who took a broken Akovian people and lead them to victory against the violent hordes of Schismatic heretics, Orcish screamers, and Dwarven legionaries, it is a nearly impossible accommodation to achieve but a great honor. The medal is composed of a red gryphon on a black banner ordained in gold.

Bulwark of Tobias, awarded to those who have shown great acts of valor during a defensive siege, the Bulwark of Tobias is named after the famous defense of Mount Augustus led by Tobias ‘Rosebud’ Carrion during the Orenian Civil War of 1456. Chain of Command

The chain of command in the company is similar to that of the Haeseni Royal Army, however all lesser ranks than the Ranks of Command in the Company are different from that of the typical Brotherhood of Saint Karl ranks to avoid more confusion.

The key distinction between the Muldav Company and the rest of the Army is their uniform, tactics and range. Whilst they are incorporated into the H.R.A and regardless of location all members must adhere to the Othomanic Doctrine as well as the direct orders of the Great Crown Commandant and Lord Marshal, the Muldav Company holds direct jurisdiction over the Alimar territories in southern Haense, superior to that of any other Company within the Haeseni Royal Army.

In turn, the Muldav Company holds equal to (or in some cases lesser) jurisdiction in other areas of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska to their counterparts in the wider H.R.A, their main range being the lowlands of Haense and the crossroad portion of the King’s Road, between Reza, the River Ruber and Aldemar.

    SIXTH GRAND PRINCE OF MULDAV

Operating synonymously with the hierarchy of the Haense Royal Army, the Muldav Company is overseen by a Captain like any other, second only to the direct orders of the Great Crown Commandant and the Lord Marshal. Said Captain does, however, serve ceremoniously under the close scrutiny of the ancient Princely House of Alimar, styling their service as at the leisure of its patriarch - concurrently the Grand Prince of Muldav - as the Company’s figurehead. The Grand Prince’s allegiance is to the Crown of Haenseti-Ruska and its governing bodies.

Warden of the Haeseni Lowlands, His Highness Joseph Audemar Alimar is the present keeper of keys, justice and peace in the territory.

  15. Josef Alimar would be absolutely overwhelmed with grief upon hearing of the death of Amelya, just after he had found his dead father. Having never cleared up his petty quarrels with her, he would have to apologize to a ghost... But despite his obvious temper in situations like this, he’d instead lock himself into his room and gently play piano – pieces that Amelya had taught him some time ago.
