Ysani had a relatively care-free childhood. Her father was a military man and her mother a middle-class mage and her older brother was training to be a scholar. She grew up in a humble but warm house. From a young age she was taught by her father in self-defence and her mother & brother in literature. The turning point was when a travelling troupe stayed in town, the villagers were apathetic to their performances, choosing to dedicate their attentions to Wyrvun but young, curious Ysani snuck out and spied on one of their performances. The dazzling blade dances, haunting songs bewitched her. Despite the protests of those around her, she knew she was destined to create art that would do the Mali’fenn proud and prove to them the beauty in dance and song. Looks: Every night while the troupe was in town, she would sneak out and learn from their dancers, practicing in secret. Eventually they left and but her practices continued. Before she knew, she grew into a beauty that drew others in, regardless of sex. Thankfully, her overprotective older brother saved her from many close calls, one of which lead him to discover her secret practices. Banned from singing and dancing, the incident took away her naivete but not her dreams of travelling far and wide as a bard. However, her family insisted she either enrol in the Coalition of Arcane Magic or join the military and serve the Prince as a ‘good Mali’fenn’ should. Stubborn, she ran away from home and hopped on a trade ship, braving the treacherous waters and finally arriving in Suitica, where she hoped her new life would begin.
