Characteristics of Druzyna members -=-=-=-=- 1.Introduction and brief description -=-=-=-=- What is the Guild located in the settlement of Ledna, or as the village is now called - Brunfell? Nothing more than a group of people with similar interests - hunting and living in the forest closer to nature, forming a different community. Druzyna – as it is officially called in the language of the Kos clan (meaning a team/ group under someone's leadership) – is a hunting guild operating throughout the Kingdom of Norland, led by the Kos clan as its founders. -=-=-=-=- -=-=-=-=- 2.History and activities -=-=-=-=- Founded by Falibor Kos, it is not known exactly when, because no one thought to write down the date in any document. He organized hunts in the forests surrounding the settlement, mainly targeting the packs of wolves that roamed the area. The guild itself also had a history of skirmishes with local bandits who harassed the surrounding areas - all of which were victorious. At present, its leader, Falibor's son, Raciborz Kos, is focusing on increasing the number of members and the number of hunts for local animals and beasts, as well as bandits roaming the kingdom. -=-=-=-=- 3. Main characteristics and traditions, items and weapons -=-=-=-=- The traditions of the Druzyna largely coincide with those of the Kosevar people. Nevertheless, it is worth repeating the most important points: Lowy - This ritual concerns coming of age - it is believed that only after an event called “Lowy” can a boy or girl reach adulthood according to the traditions of the Kos clan. It is assumed that it is impossible not to take up this challenge. If someone fails, the rest of the group is obliged to exclude that person from social life and force them to leave the community. In case of refusal, the punishment is death, as that person is considered unworthy of bearing the name Kos or Druzynik (member of Guild). What does this event look like? A young man or woman, aged fifteen, receives only a hunting knife and then sets off alone into the forest for a month, where he must avoid contact with people and persevere until the end of his trial. Only then can he return to the community and become a full member. Narada - This is a traditional meeting of the entire community of a settlement or clan - and in this case, a guild - to discuss current issues (held annually) or when necessary (at the request of the Druzynik). At the Narada, every adult has the right to vote, but the final decision will always belong to the Vodz/Huntmaster. -=-=-=-=- -=-=-=-=- Firrst spearr forrging - This is one of the newer traditions, belonging more to the guild itself than to the Kos clan, but clan members still follow it as members of the guild. What does it involve? After their first hunt, a full member of the guild goes to the local smithy, where, together with a master craftsman, they forge the tip of their new spear - intended for fighting in defense of their brothers and for hunting. This weapon becomes an extension of their body, and caring for it is a duty that testifies to their character. Blood oath - This is probably nothing unusual among tribal communities, but for the members of the Team it has a clear value. There are two types of blood oaths: Initiation - consists of officially joining the Druzyna after the first hunt, where, in the presence of other Druzyna members, one makes a sacrifice of one's blood, which is sealed with a sacrifice from each other member. This symbolizes the creation of a brotherhood that will last for the rest of one's life. Blood debt - When a member of the Druzyna suffers an insult, loses a member of their clan, or wishes to avenge another member of the Druzyna, they take a blood oath, which other members of the Druzyna may join. It is not mandatory, but once taken, revenge must be carried out with no turning back. -=-=-=-=- -=-=-=-=- Kosevar spears - As mentioned earlier, spears are the main weapon of the Hunters. They are part of themselves and contain key information about their owners. They must bear the year of forging, the master craftsman, and the name or nickname of their owner - all engraved on the shaft in the ancient language of the Kosevars. Basic weapons - The most important weapons for combat are the axe and shield. Some may ask why hunters need such tools. The answer is simple. Druzyna members sometimes clash with bandits or other enemies. When this happens, they stand in a tight row, shield to shield, forming an iconic wall of shields. They use axes as weapons to chop down their opponents. -=-=-=-=- -=-=-=-=- Hunter bows - These are composite bows made by Druzyniks skilled in this art. It takes many months to make one, but it is a valuable weapon due to its lethal range of up to 500 meters and its striking power. -=-=-=-=- 4. Hunting - what it looks like -=-=-=-=- Characteristics of hunts - There are three types of hunts conducted by the Druzyna: Annual hunts - Convened only by the Huntmaster of the Kos clan. Their targets are usually wild animals living in the vicinity of the Team's headquarters. War hunts - Also convened by the Huntmaster of the Kos clan. However, their target is not animals, but people who threaten the Druzyna or stand in its way. War hunts often coincide with annual hunts. Special hunts - Any sworn member of the Druzyna can organize a hunting expedition - these are simply ordinary hunts for game under his leadership. They do not require the consent of the Huntmaster. -=-=-=-=- -=-=-=-=- 5. Druzyna member ranks -=-=-=-=- Rekrut - Is a man who has just decided to associate with the Druzyna. He must prove his worth through training and the blood of wild animals and enemies of the Guild to proceed with his oath. Anyone can become one if he is interested Lowca- A Lowca is none other than a sworn recruit who has already proven his skills on the hunt and in his duties. However, it testifies to the honor of the Lowca he has proven. He needs to take a blood oath. Harcownik- This is a Lowca who has taken an oath and gained approval in his actions from the Huntmaster of Druzyna. He also crafted his Spear. It cannot be someone who is physically and mentally weak. He must set an example for others with his life, be good to those he fights for and put his life on the line Zwiadowca - He is something like a younger officer. He has the right to command junior ranks and leads them into hunts. To become a Zwiadowca you must gain the approval of the leader of Druzyna guild - The Huntmaster Dzikkus - This is a Zwiadowca man who has proven his dedication, demonstrated honor and skill. He can command people and take matters into his own hands. He is a senior officer who leads in the absence of the Hunmaster. There can only be two of them. Vodz Druzyny/Huntmaster - It can only be someone from the Kos clan, who commands all Guild hunters. -=-=-=-=-

Then he walked his lonely path, among tall trees and rustling leaves. Often alone with the prey... though not always. This also proved to be his downfall and his promise at the same time. -=-=-=-=- Misunderstood and betrayed by those he had hoped for, he sank into loneliness and sadness at the end of his days. He had no leg, no arm—he had no will after what had happened. He set off alone on his last mission. Armed with pure hatred and a clan war axe, he headed into the forest. However, it was not wolves or other animals that killed him, but bandits. Ordinary bandits. He fought bravely, but he didn't stand a chance. They got him. Three arrows pierced his armor, and he knew it was over. He wanted to fight to the end, but he had to end his life with one last word to hs son - Raciborz. -=-=-=-=- With his last ounce of strength, he crawled toward the gates of Ledna. There he met his beloved son. The young man ran up to him with a terrified look on his face and fell to his knees beside him. They both knew it was the end. -=-=-=-=- "Rememberr, moi syn... Flavius is theirrr name... rrevenge... is in the hands of moi descendants... ourr klan" he said in a tired voice, spitting blood. Then he died in his son's arms. The young warrior lifted his father's motionless body, shedding a few tears that moistened the ground, and carried him home. "They will pay moi ojciec...in moi life orr next!" - he shouted in his home -=-=-=-=- They buried him next to the house, with a gravestone and a cross, so that he could join his ancestors...   4. Kosevars banner CULTURE OF KOSEVARS SUBCULTURE OF LECHIANS INTRODUCTION The Kos people are an honorable folk who originate from the Lechian tribe. They are warriors, hunters, and brewers. They are brave people, loyal to their God and their beliefs. They are exceptionally proud and stubborn. Due to many years of cultural mixing and the fact that their tribesmen lived far apart, this part of the people developed certain characteristics that led to a partial change in their basic behavior. Hence, today's representatives of the Kos clan already refer to themselves as different from the rest of the Lechians, although when asked, they consider them their brothers. -=-=-=-=- HISTORY Time of Vistulia The beginnings of this small group can be traced back to the formation of the Kos clan, from which it takes its name. This took place on the continent of Almaris, where the first of the Kos - Dalebor, settled in a place that would later go down in history as Vistulia. At that time, they were no different from the rest of their tribesmen, but it was from this moment that changes began to take place, leading to the partial separation we see today. In their original homeland, the clan performed military functions, guarding the law. Fundamental changes could already be observed at that time, but the Kos still had no intention of not identifying themselves with the Lechians. It was only subsequent events that slowly began to bring about change. The Norrth Legion and the fall When Vistulia fell, the Kos clan was the only one that remained more or less organized. They moved to their new home in the Kingdom of Norland, where they founded a settlement and a mercenary unit called the Norrth Legion. Despite their best efforts, the remnants of the clan and Vistulia itself succumbed to time and fell apart. It was said that the last of the Kos died then, which many years later turned out to be untrue. The rebirth of the clan and the rise of Ledna Many springs passed before Tadeusz found his way back to the continent of Aevos. Old legends about their first home smoldered in his mind. Hence, he spent his entire life planning its reconstruction. So he returned to the place where his ancestors had once been accepted, to the Kingdom of Norland. There, in the year 193 of the Second Era, together with his loyal friends and tribesmen, he built a settlement called Ledna, which became the new home of the clan. Separation The following years were marked by progressive changes within the clan itself and the realization that they were no longer the same as generations before them. The Kos clan stepped down from their position as Vodz of the Ledna settlement to focus on their development and expansion. Thus, at the moment of immigration to Azuraz, the two leading members of the clan, came to the conclusion that they were now so different from their first ancestors that they should not refer to themselves as Lechian, but as a separate branch - the Lechian Kosses. -=-=-=-=- Kosevars wojs WAR CULTURE Significant differences can be seen in the very nature of warfare. The Kosevars have abandoned horses as a means of combat. They form infantry units composed of heavily armed foot soldiers armed with round shields and sharp axes. Sometimes warriors also carry swords, but this is rather rare. The culture of war has also changed. Both women and men, from an early age – that is, from the moment they are able to carry an axe – begin their demanding training, which lasts until the end of their lives. Honor and fighting to the very end are most valued on the battlefield. It does not matter whether Kosevar can win or not. He must fight to the end and die if necessary. -=-=-=-=- Kosevar Cydr TRADITIONS AND BEHAVIOR Like their ancestors, some still consider themselves farmers who fill their bellies with hard work in the fields - as a nation of peasants. However, the Kosevars are a little different from that part of the Lechian population. They do continue to work in the fields, but they work only for themselves, recognizing no lords or tributes - they consider this humiliating and shy away from such tributes. For generations, they have consistently cultivated the tradition of brewing as a point of honor. They are masters of both beer brewing and the production of high-proof alcohol. Each generation of this group adds another brick to this already long tradition. The Kosevars have also become excellent hunters, who consider hunting to be practically sacred, a part of their soul. This can be seen, for example, in the fact that they have created a hunting guild, which is very active in the Kingdom of Norland. In addition, young warriors aged 15 are required to go into the forest alone and survive there for a month to prove their skills and that they are ready to become adults. The same applies to coming of age - it is believed that it is after the event called “Łowy” that a boy or girl reaches adulthood. It is assumed that it is impossible not to complete this challenge. It is a traditional form of meeting dating back to the beginning of time - that is, Vistulia. The Kosevars people are quite hot-tempered by nature. They take all insults deeply and always want to repay the harm done to them. When it comes to remembering... they will remember everything bad for the rest of their lives. The same applies to good events, of course, but by nature they hate their enemies more than they love their friends. They are also exceptionally honorable people; if they say something, it is sacred to them — a promise must be kept. It is impossible not to notice that the Kosevars are not averse to alcohol; on the contrary, they have a great weakness for it. They can also be considered excellent companions over a drink and in the dark corners of a tavern when a fight breaks out. They are good company if the glasses have been emptied for several hours. -=-=-=-=- Old Lechian - Kosevar church THE QUESTION OF RELIGION The differences are also religious in nature. Although the Kosevars remain faithful to Canonism, they are not as radical as the rest of the Lechians. They believe that everyone has the right to their own faith and do not force them to change it. The only thing they do not tolerate are attacks on their faith - then they will certainly defend their God with axes and shields. The second issue – and here the culture of the Kingdom of Norland certainly has an influence – is that they worship their ancestors in a much greater way than simply as the deceased. They believe that they follow them after death and that the souls of their deceased and fallen ancestors literally reside within them. Thus, they treat graves with special reverence – all members of the clan must be buried in exactly the same place – where the clan currently lives. -=-=-=-=- LANGUAGE The original language of the Lechians is also used by the Kosevars. However, they use an accent typical of another tribe - they double every ‘r’, just like the Radghastian people, with whom they had previous contact. Apart from that, they look quite different, usually being strongly muscled and stocky in build. Most of them have longer hair tied in a ponytail or hanging down, regardless of gender. When it comes to clothing, not much has changed. A significant portion of the Kosevars still prefer traditional Lechians attire. However, some have noticeably rejected it in favor of Nordic clothing. The most preferred item of clothing, however, is armor, which all clan members proudly wear day and night, regardless of the situation. -=-=-=-=- Kosevar settlement - without dry moat ARCHITECTURE In terms of buildings, the Kosevars live in small wooden settlements surrounded by palisades and dry moats. Sometimes they also build small stone strongholds, but they do so as a last resort and not on their own, but with the support of other peoples. They also prefer free-standing buildings, which is why they do not live in large and crowded cities on a daily basis. -=-=-=-=- Kosevars during Narada STRUCTURE The Kosevars live in a clan structure. Each clan is headed by a Vodz, who has virtually absolute power over the actions of his clan. This function is passed down from generation to generation. The rest of the hierarchy is based on military merit and service to the clan, in accordance with the military ranks that have always existed in clan structures. Underage clan members do not count, as they have no right to vote. Above the clan structure is the tribal structure. It consists of several clans, each headed by a Vodz. Among them, a Naczelny Vodz is elected. He has full authority over all the actions of the tribe. However, his power is not hereditary. After Naczelnik 's death, his successor is elected from among the Vodz. Several warriors are also elected from the tribe, who have various functions, both at the clan and tribe levels. These are the same functions: Wojmistr - deals with everything related to military matters Palatyn - deals with matters related to law and crime. Skarbnik - deals with the economy of the clan/tribe. These three people, together with the Vodz, form the Mala Narada at the clan level and the Durra Narada at the tribe level. It is an advisory body to the ruler of the clan/tribe. -=-=-=-=-

Reformation of Kos clan -=-=-=-=- -=-=-=-=- Coming back to home -=-=-=-=- After many years since Falibor suddenly left his beloved home village, the rider's slender silhouette flashed on a hill near Ledna. He rode slowly, he was weary he had made a long journey, after all, so tragic for the no longer young Kos. The village as he remembered it hadn't changed much. A few stalls with some goods had appeared, the banners of his clan had disappeared, and thick layers of snow lay everywhere. After all, he had left with no word, probably considered long dead or insane. He didn't care about all that, he didn't remember, or maybe didn't want to remember why he left. All he knew was that some members of his clan had done exactly the same thing. He stood in front of his father and grandfather's house, a tear ran down his cheek, he didn't even notice it. The last bit of his shattered soul must have been reminded of itself when he finally saw his old home. He reached toward his horse, taking two small bundles from it. The joy and sorrow of his life. He returned with memories to his journey, his many years of wandering, where for a while he was given the chance to find the light, but lost it in such a tragic and brutal way. After all, just a spring ago, everything was finally beginning to make sense to the weary Kos. But God had other plans for the warrior. He recalled her warmth, remembered her love and simplicity, remembered how she had given him two little children...he also remembered her tragic death. An accident in the journey, the wrong way, it didn't matter in the least now. He had lost his soul over her body, but he himself could not leave yet. That's why he came back, probably only because of that. After all, where else could he go? -=-=-=-=- Changes in the clan -=-=-=-=- However, the years in exile were not completely in vain. Kos, living mostly alone, outside the cities, not often seeing other people, has perfected the art of hunting. Hence what follows: - As part of the Kos clan's existence, a hunting team 'druzyna' is being formed to conduct regular hunts to cultivate the clan's ancient and new traditions. - The clan chief is again eager to welcome unrelated people into the ranks if they prove their skills in fighting and hunting. - Both Falibor and every other member of the clan pledge allegiance to Ledna and its current chief, with his blood and the blood of others he is willing to fulfill the oath. - The ‘druzyna’ hunts may be attended by willing warriors and hunters, if the clan leader agrees. - Titles for the team remain the same as for Ledna's militia, as do the armors. -=-=-=-=- Joining -=-=-=-=- All those who are willing to join the clan must receive permission from the clan's chief and then prove their fighting and hunting skills, currently living in Ledna in Norland.

Therefore, the current clan Vodz, Falibor Kos, after many years decided to recreate a tradition so close to his ancestors - which is a competition in drinking strong Lechian-Radaghastian alcohol! -=-=-=-=- What does the competition consist of? On nothing but promoting and drinking regional alcohol from Ledna! The winner will be the one who drinks the most and stays on his legs the longest. Everyone gathers on that beautiful night (or several in a row) and celebrates by drinking to the happiness of their friends and loved ones. All this surrounded by a good atmosphere is a great chance to get to know the inside of another person and make lifelong friendships! -=-=-=-=- All right, but what can be won in these competitions, if that's what they are? The one who has fought the longest will receive the honorary title of Lednian, according to the same old tradition, a few bottles of the best vodka and a small gift from the leader of the settlement! Clan Kos Clan of Norland -=-=-=-=- “In Bog ourr Strrength, Shielded by ourr Sworrds, Vodka is ourr Frriend.” -=-=-=-=- History The Kos Clan began in a true sense at the founding of the settlement of Vistulia, on Almaris. The founder of the clan proper was Dalebor Kos, who was once in service to the Jazlowiecki family before going on to become a famed warrior in service to the Vilchyc Clan - the rulers of Vistulia. While much of Vistulia was populated by Radaghastian people, the Kos of the time had origins in Lechian culture, and they would strongly adhere to that culture over the decades. Despite the prosperity of Vistulia, the population was all but wiped out by plague, and the Kos Clan left with other survivors. The Clan made their way to the Kingdom of Norland, where they founded the North Legion mercenary group alongside other Vistulian survivors. Their presence supported the Norlandic military efforts and in that time the Kos Clan developed closer ties with the rulers of the Kingdom. With the collapse of that force, the Clan was scattered to the winds. In Aevos, the Kos returned under Tadeusz Kos. Once again under the banner of Norland, he founded the settlement of Ledna, and brought to it friends and allies. With the security provided by their new home and the protection of Norland the settlement grew, until Tadeusz was succeeded in leadership of both Clan and village by his son Dalebor. When Dalebor fell in battle against Darkspawn, his young son Falibor took the reins of leadership and became Chief of the Clan. -=-=-=-=- Characteristics Biolgical members of the Clan are known for their dark blue eyes, a trait that has been found in every generation of blood Kos since the earliest days. The Kos tend toward two notable behaviours. First, they are famed warriors, who prepare for battle from a young age. They maintain Vistulian warfare traditions, with armour in that style and often being armed with large roundshields and axes. The Shieldwall of Kos has protected Ledna and wider Norland many times. Second, the Kos have a great love of alcohol. The village of Ledna is a source of beverages in Norland, and supplies much to the taverns of Vjardengrad. But the Kos Clan members also have a tendency to enjoy consuming those products themselves, always seeking new recipes and distillations to taste and reproduce. It is considered something of a tradition for each generation to add at least one new recipe to their ever growing list. -=-=-=-=- Culture and faith The Kos, while a Lechian people originally, were influenced greatly by the Radaghastian peoples. With the early Kos living among Radaghastians, their accent has worked its way into the mouths of the Clan, which causes them to drag out their ‘r’ sounds. They otherwise maintain many Lechian traditions, in clothing style and home decor. There is a strong Oral tradition among the Clan, preferring to speak their legends as opposed to reading or writing them down. The Clan, despite living in the Red Faith dominated Kingdom of Norland, are traditionally a Canonist people, and believe in the one God of that faith. This they inherited from their Lechian origins, though they are not as fervent in their faith as some Canonist nations, and are tolerant of other religions that do not pose a threat. -=-=-=-=- Motto “In Bog our Strength, Shielded by our Swords, Vodka is our Friend.” The words of Clan Kos tie to their Canonist faith and the activities of the Clan. In Lechian, God is translated as Bog, and so from God/Bog the Clan derive their strength. The Military heritage of the Clan is reflected in the second part, indicating that they defend what they value with their weapons. Finally, they love of alcohol is found in declaring vodka as a friend to the Clan. -=-=-=-=- Structure The Chieftain of the Clan is known as the Vodz, which translates roughly to Chief in their Lechian tongue. This title is traditionally passed from father to son through the main Kos lineage, with daughters taking the position in the absence of a son. The second in command, assistant to the Vodz, is the Vojmistrz. This deputy position is hand picked by the Vodz and serves until death or retirement, though the honour the position carries means that voluntarily leaving is rare. For the rest of the Clan, their hierarchy is closely tied with the militia of Ledna, rooted in the military heritage of the Clan.
