  3. FOR THE HEARTH OF THE HOMELAND. Issued by THE MASTER OF THE ABSTRACT On this 12th day of Gronna ag Droba of 485 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, The Abstract - the phenomena that exists in our world, but does not occur naturally. From the Ghost to the Druid, to the Housemages and the Voidal Mages - things that would not occur, were it not for the tenacity and sometimes, foolishness of Descendantkind. Some things stand to benefit our Kingdom at large, while others pose a risk to bring everything crumbling down - and others yet exist in between, merely a reflection of their users' truest intent. In a time filled with misinformation and lack of information, it is imperative that information be available to the Haeseni, to keep them informed and able to make judgements unburdened by bias in knowledge and to keep them away from the ever-present fear of the unknown. The Office of the Abstract exists to gather information of the Abstract and distribute that information to the Haeseni, as well as act as a wall against that of unnatural origin that seeks to bring harm to the Kingdom. The Office itself is overseen by the Master or Mistress of the Abstract, with several Scholars of the Abstract, as well as any Wards the Master or Mistress takes on. within their purview. QUALIFCATIONS FOR THE SCHOLAR Those considering employment under the Office would do well to note: the nature of work under the Office will incur stresses not purely on the body, but on the mind - in excessive amounts. Those unable to handle such stresses - or incapable of expanding their view of the world - are strongly advised not to consider the office for employment. The Office also strongly discourages those who seek employment to gain access to magic, or any form of tutelage from the office. The purpose of the Office is to guide the Haeseni, not further one’s own capability. Those who retain interest are advised to send a bird to the Master of the Abstract, and arrange a time for a interview should they meet the following, at minimum: ❖ Are above the age of 18 ❖ Possess no condition that might inhibit movement, speech, or use of the senses. ❖ Possess no bias towards race or language. ❖ Are capable of exploring, documenting, and defending oneself. ❖ Are capable of functioning within a group, and independently. Those who do not possess the following may still request a interview, though may be considered less favorably ❖ Prior experience with some form of Magic. ❖ Prolonged experience in Combat, in a variety of conditions and against a range of opponents. In a year's time from the date of publication, The Master of the Abstract will no longer accept requests for an interview. The Office is looking for 3 to 4 individuals to employ as Scholars. ON THE COURT ALCHEMIST AND ASTROLOGER, In addition, the Offices of the Court Astrologer and Court Alchemist have been shifted to reside under the Office of the Abstract. Those seeking employment or opportunities with the Court Alchemist, Lady Alchemy, or Court Astrologer, Ser Sterling Amador. are encouraged to contact them or their offices directly. DLUM VE EDLERVIK AG VE BIRODAL, Her Royal Majesty, Amaya of Venzia, Queen-Consort of Hanseti and Ruska, Princess-Consort of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Solvesborg, Slesvik and Ulgaard, Duchess-Consort of Carnatia and Vanaheim, Margravine-Consort of Korstadt, Rothswald, and Vasiland, Countess-Consort of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Torun, Toruv, Valdev, and Werdenburg, Viscountess-Consort of Varna, Baroness-Consort of Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, Thurant, Venzia and Astfield, Lady of the Westfolk, etcetera His Excellency, Fabian Otto d’Arkent-Kortrevich, Grand Lord of Hanseti-Ruska His Lordship, Doctor Haus Weiss-Vuiller, Master of the Abstract, Deputy Surgeon-General of the Hospital of St. Aymas, Patriarch of House Weiss-Vuiller
  4. THE OFFICE OF THE WARDROBE FOR THE HEARTH OF THE HOMELAND. Issued by THE MASTER OF THE WARDROBE On this 11th day of Msitza ag Dargund of 484 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, A new generation of Haeseni youth has arisen, and thus the door of opportunity opens in lieu of their aspirations. Perhaps our children will be encouraged in the ways of politics, or guided by GODAN to the life of a clergyman or nun. Some may even take up an interest in the arts, one very prevalent form of which is seamstressing that denotes Haeseni culture from others and oftentimes will extend to the numerous Haeseni sub-cultures within the Dual Kingdom. To the youth of the realm, I extend the opportunity to learn seamstressing and the history of cultural couture through a wardship. Such an opportune wardship will involve private tutoring on how to sew various articles of clothing based on the child’s particular interest or culture of origin, which will coincide with bestowed tasks for the ward to complete throughout the duration of his or her wardship. Additionally, lectures and lessons on the various cultures’ influence on Haeseni fashion will be provided to the youths under my tutelage. It is of utmost prevalence to provide an interest in a form of art to the Kingdom’s youth, regardless of one’s station or birth. I encourage those interested, or know someone who might be interested, to send me a letter via crow. It should be noted that a maximum of FOUR WARDS will be accepted, determined at the Master of the Wardrobe's behest. DLUM VE EDLERVIK AG VE BIRODAL, Her Royal Majesty, Amaya of Venzia, Queen-Consort of Hanseti and Ruska, Princess-Consort of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Solvesborg, Slesvik and Ulgaard, Duchess-Consort of Carnatia and Vanaheim, Margravine-Consort of Korstadt, Rothswald, and Vasiland, Countess-Consort of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Torun, Toruv, Valdev, and Werdenburg, Viscountess-Consort of Varna, Baroness-Consort of Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, Thurant, Venzia and Astfield, Lady of the Westfolk, etcetera His Excellency, Fabian Otto d’Arkent-Kortrevich, Grand Lord of Hanseti-Ruska Lord Murtagh Matyas Amador, Master of the Wardrobe of Hanseti-Ruska.
  5. Issued by ESROVA PRIKAZ COUNCIL On this 14th day of Vzmey ag Hyff of 484 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, The upkeep of the Esrova Prikaz is essential to the courts, and it is therefore of immense significance to have enough staff to maintain it without constant observation and management from those above. We are accordingly eager to discover individuals, both new and familiar, who possess an interest in undertaking these responsibilities on behalf of the Courts. Following the implementation of Queen Amaya and Grand Lord Fabian d’Arkent-Kortrevich’s Court Reforms, the Palace Custodian, Lady Allessandra Amador, decrees an immediate re-establishment of the positions, duties, payments, and uniforms of the Esrova Prikaz servants. THE PALACE CUSTODIAN Lady Liridona Amador VIII KUSTOSZ I VE PRIKAZ 499 E.S - Present | 1946 A.H. - Present “The Palace Custodian manages the upkeep and events of the Esrova Prikaz, including oversight of the Servantry, Kitchens, Governors/Governesses, and the habitation of any wards within its walls. The Palace Custodian is further charged with the successful facilitation and hosting of the various events held within the Palace and Royal quarters. This may include balls, dinners, feasts, paint nights, and any other affairs within and around the Palace.” - The Esrova Prikaz Council Publication of 484 E.S. In acknowledgment of the Custodian’s outlined duties within the Esrova Court, the Lady Weiss calls upon the willing members of the Haeseni populace to join the Esrova Prikaz Servantry for the sake of cultural preservation and tradition. THE MASTER OF THE PANTRY Firr Derek Saltmen III HAUCHKHAZYA I VE SPRIKVAYA 503 E.S - Present | 1950 A.H. - Present "The Master of the Pantry is the chef of the highest seniority within the palace, and is accordingly granted a seat upon the Queen’s Advisory Council for their excellence. The Master of the Pantry manages the culinary offerings of the Esrova Palace each day, along with the splendid spreads at social events. The Master is also responsible for fostering and nurturing the culinary traditions of Hanseti-Ruska by instructing the youth in cooking, baking, and mixology, and his work is supplemented by his chefs, court bakers, and assistants." - The Esrova Prikaz Council Publication of 484 E.S. VACANCIES WITHIN THE SERVANTRY BUTLERS AND MAIDS During Courtly events, the presence of dedicated staff is essential to ensure the smooth functioning of the Royal Household and the satisfaction of the guests. Among these staff members, the butlers and maids hold a position of great importance. Butlers collaborate closely with the Palace Chefs to ensure impeccable service and presentation. One of the primary responsibilities of a butler is to present the culinary creations of the Palace chefs and bakers. They meticulously arrange and serve the dishes as directed by the chef, taking care to maintain an elegant and appealing presentation. This requires attention to detail, knowledge of proper table settings, and a keen eye for aesthetics. In addition to their role in food service, butlers and maids also take charge of maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the premises. Their efforts contribute to creating a pristine and welcoming environment for Courtly events. Another crucial aspect of their role is their availability to assist and cater to the specific needs of the Lords and Ladies within the Court. Whether it's fetching a glass of wine or providing general assistance, their attentive and prompt service ensures that the esteemed guests feel attended to and comfortable. COURIERS Within the Esrova Court, couriers bear the crucial responsibility of transporting letters between the Royal Family, the Court Officials, and their correspondents. They must remain vigilant, ready to respond at a moment's notice, and possess a strong understanding of the land, as long journeys may require overnight stays due to the extensive range of letters being sent across various territories. Given that the timely delivery of messages can sometimes be a matter of life and death, couriers should possess or be willing to expound upon attributes of wit, sharpness, and quick thinking. CHEFS AND BAKERS A key position within the Esrova’s servantry is that of the chefs and bakers. They are charged with the upkeep of the Palace’s kitchen, and ensuring the shelves are stocked with ingredients and spices to prepare meals fit for a King. Menus are often organised by the Mistress or Master of the Pantry, while the Chefs and Bakers oversee to guarantee they are capable of following the recipe. At times, however, they may be afforded the leisure to experiment with recipes of their own. DLUM VE EDLERVIK AG VE BIRODAL, Her Royal Majesty, Amaya of Venzia, Queen-Consort of Hanseti and Ruska, Princess-Consort of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Solvesborg, Slesvik and Ulgaard, Duchess-Consort of Carnatia and Vanaheim, Margravine-Consort of Korstadt, Rothswald, and Vasiland, Countess-Consort of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Torun, Toruv, Valdev, and Werdenburg, Viscountess-Consort of Varna, Baroness-Consort of Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, Thurant, Venzia and Astfield, Lady of the Westfolk, etcetera. 6. DEBUTANTE REVIEWS UKEN VE KRAWN I ROZZ Issued by the OFFICE OF VE ESROVA KORT On the 24th day of Tov ag Yermey of 482 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK With the debuts having come to its conclusion during that of our Sixth Lifstala, the Esrova Court has come together to put together a series of reviews of those who debuted. Due to the sheer amount of debuts this season, it has been broken into two, in which this first will cover that of our lovely debutantes. THE DEBUTANTES OF THE SIXTH LIFSTALA ROYAL DEBUTANTES HRH, Princess Adeline Johanna of the Royal House of Alstion Her Royal Highness's debut quite pleased the dais. The Queen herself took particular note of her golden chains upon her dress, and the respect with which she greeted the Court of Hanseti-Ruska; while the Grand Lord noted himself as fond of her use of the Aaunic white rose and laurel motif of her tiara. The Wardrobe the full use of her cloak; the vibrancy of her gown, which quite complemented the Princess’s coloration, and the tasteful simplicity of her gown paired with its fine goldwork. Her Royal Highness’s debut demonstrated a deep sense of confidence rooted in her familial and national origin; the fine respect and etiquette befitting a royal debutante; and, in whole, a remarkable and admirable young woman quite ready to assume her place among the Courts of Man. HRH, Princess Frisketa Medina of the Viceroyal House of de Pelear The Princess debuted in a fitting sapphire blue dress, matched with the according gemstones in her necklace and tiara. She wore a crimson sash, while the look drew much attention to Her Royal Highness’s face. Though it might have been an additional touch to incorporate jewelry complementing the trim of her rich gown, the look was overall one of cultural appreciation and pride. The Queen, as Frisketa is her dearest niece, and the Grand Lord were both quite pleased with the confidence of the Princess, who has certainly flourished since her first days in the Prikaz. MAINLINE NOBILITY HL, Aleksandra Milena of the Ducal House of Ruthern Lady vas Ruthern has been chosen as this season’s Ruskan Rose in no small part for the intense tribute to family that was her presentation; including those souls who are no longer among us, though we wish them eternal peace in the Skies above. Her hammerhead clasps formed her token in a gesture which brought tears to the eyes of all those with compassionate hearts; while her crimson vest formed a nod to the military history of her Ducal House. HL, Stefaniya Ipera of the Ducal House of Ruthern Lady vas Ruthern, the younger, debuted in a gown which quite embodied the theme of a hint of red; its rich cloth a more muted tone, and a mammoth-esque cloak which threatened to swallow the girl, were it not for her confidence in her uniqueness. The Queen was quite pleased with the movement of her dangling ribbons and the square neckline, which further builds a sense of posture. A pleasant, composed debut, giving the House Ruthern two debutants to be quite pleased with this season, and the Court commends both young women on their excellent debuts. HL, Karina Amicia of the Comital House of Ludovar Lady Ludovar’s debut embraced a militaristic aspect, showcasing her priorities to the Kingdom and to potential suitors. The red cape and boots command attention, yes, but do not outweigh her display of familial pride; embroidery, colors, and overall composition balancing excellently. Lady Ludovar quite embodied the recent revitalization of her Comital House’s presence; and demonstrated her own according pride and passions. A commendable debut, found remarkable by all upon the Dais. HL, Karyna Rezalin of the Comital House of Colborn Bunad; hairstyle; and jewelry alike celebrated the Scyfling heritage of the young Lady Colborn, sister to the Count, donned in ornate embroidery and vibrant hues which Her Royal Majesty quite appreciated. The Wardrobe also noted the Lady Colborn’s donning of traditional pearls; one we did not see much of this season, and were delighted to note. Another beautiful Comital debutante; one who represented her family with notable grace and composure, and who is likely to flourish this season. TRH, Eirene Linh of the Comital House of Vuiller The desert flowers which trailed the Countess’s footsteps were both primed to catch the eye of a suitor and a delicate, whimsical honor to her Southern homeland. Her familial colors were further imprinted with her family flower, creating a botanical look quite appreciated by His Excellency and those upon the dais; the Queen herself quite approved of the floral train. The Wardrobe does note that the hue of red could have been matched to better mimic or complement the Countess’s hair; though, the hair piece itself was a magnificent touch, pairing well with her gold accents and necklaces. A lovely, refreshing look from the Southern debutante. HL, Aurora Diane of the Comital House of Vuiller The braids; embroidery; and embellishments provided a lovely, delicate contrast to the otherwise icy look of the Lady Vuiller, while her darker gown contrasted the lighter ginger of her hair in a complement appreciated by the Wardrobe. This choice drew to the beauty of the Lady Vuiller rather than that of the gown itself, while like her kinswoman the Countess, her gold accents matched in a tasteful choice. Two excellent debuts of the House Vuiller, then, and welcome ones from our Friends in the Kingdom of Balian. HL, Serena Viviana of the Comital House of d’Arkent Another daughter of the Balianese Comital peeerage, and one who emerged donned in an heirloom tiara; adorned in opulent pieces which embraced her familial culture and nodded to her mother’s royal heritage. The Wardrobe does note that the Canonist North often advises against putting quite as much on display as the Lady d’Arkent chose to; however, the golden embroidery, the etchings upon the waist fitting, and the slit at the leg which revealed its red accent were all excellently composed. A beautiful, incredibly confident display from the Palatiodora of the Palatio Arancione. HL, Katia Milena of the Baronial House of Godunov Though the Lady Godunov seemed, perhaps, nervous upon her initial debut; somewhat automaton-esque; the floral patterns and embroidery of her gown were intriguing, subtle enough to entice further examination, while its varying colors provided an interesting, complementing view. Her kokoshnik was a confident choice for a Baronial daughter; a thoughtful one, though, which connected nicely to her gown. While red and green may be a somewhat risky complement, the tone and use of gold cleverly subverted such hazards of bold color choices. A put-together and somewhat mysterious debutante of the season, whom the Court looks forward to learning more of among its ranks. HL, Henrietta Anabel of the Baronial House of Stafyr Another debutante who embraces her true self, disregarding any need to conceal who she truly is– even when it comes to potential suitors. The intricate embroidery and vibrant colors of her outfit easily capture attention. Moreover, her choice of jewelry reflects a deep appreciation for cultural traditions. Fascination can be found by the unconventional gems she adorns herself with. Instead of the commonly seen ruby, she opts for the striking Red Beryl, which adds a unique allure to her ensemble. Similarly, she replaces the traditional sapphire with a mesmerizing Aquamarine, creating a harmonious contrast. The combination of the red beryl and a matching red sash forms a cohesive look that showcases her impeccable interpretation of the theme. HL, Kamilla Eryka of the Baronial House of Stafyr Although she appeared nervous, as demonstrated through glances towards family, this further revealed an affectionate bond. Her confidence only grew from such, more and more evident the further she progressed through the event. Her outfit is vibrant and sports the colors of her newly established noble house. The captivating shade of orange in her dress harmoniously pairs with the complementary green hue, resulting in a visually striking combination. The carefully pinned sash adds a delightful contrast to the ensemble, perfectly aligning with the theme of the night. The neckline of her dress is thoughtfully chosen, drawing attention to the additional red jewels along her neck. HL, Anne Eleanor of the Baronial House of von Leopold A debutante sporting her family colors, a significant tribute to her heritage. The gown additionally accentuates her figure adding extra poise as she walks with an air of confidence and a radiant smile. The hue of her dress beautifully compliments the red flower crown, creating a colorful ensemble. The choice of unique flowers in her crown additionally align with the theme. Overall, the combination of her family colors, the exquisite flower crown, and the flattering silhouette of the gown contribute to an alluring and confident presence. HL, Julietta Laurelai of the Baronial House of Haverlock The colors of her outfit harmonize with her overall appearance, leaving one wondering about any subtle nods to her House. However, such a tribute becomes apparent in the cane she carries while approaching the dias. Additionally, she adorns herself with an heirloom circlet, which complements her hairstyle. The thoughtful coordination of colors not only catches the eye, but also showcases a clever adaptation of the hint of red via use of pink. This shade further accentuates natural beauty. Her tiara additionally pairs well with its jewels and her hem. NON-MAINLINE NOBILITY HL, Marija Odilia of the Comital House of Colborn Rumor has it that a powerful perfume played a role in Lady Colborn’s debut, although not able to be noticed by those upon the dias; a lovely and thoughtful inclusion, which we presume welcomed the audience into her debut and, perhaps, further enticed any observant suitors. Nevertheless, the inclusion of Colborn’s familial colors and culture references through the incorporation of the bunad were greatly appreciated by all who set eyes upon it. The intricately designed embroidery on the dress catches attention easily, adding a touch of elegance and artistry. Furthermore, the layered composition of the dress is equally admirable. HL, Astrid Parvana of the Comital House of Colborn Lady Colborn’s pieces were minimal, though clearly chosen with care to have potent representation; particularly her coat-of-arms pin. Her own beauty as well as that of her House’s was not forgotten, as her chosen colors complemented her own coloration quite well, and her demeanor was as respectful and passionate as one might expect. The Lady Colborn stood alongside her cousins in a Scyfling bunad, appreciated by both the Grand Princess and all upon the dais, as it seemed the triplet has quite well coordinated themselves for their joint debut. HL, Maja Tuva of the Comital House of Colborn The House Colborn presented another daughter clearly raised to take great pride in her culture and history, with fine embroidery on both the ribbons of her hair – a touch the Queen herself envied – and upon her bunad. Alongside her sister and cousin, the Colborn women cut a formidable trio; Lady Maja, recently returned from rumored mysterious travels abroad, no exception. Together, the three Ladies Colborn have surely given their House something to celebrate – and potential suitors an array to admire. HL, Nicolette Arika of the Baronial House of Amador Lady Amador showed true care for herself and her canine companion, though the dais would have quite liked to see representations of Lady Amador’s Baronial House in her olivine gown, and though her rubies were a clever hint of red, such a gemstone is traditionally reserved for the Royal and Ducal houses. Despite these notes, Lady Amador’s debut was one of composure and confidence; displaying clear discipline in its execution, and with a demeanor that pleased and impressed those upon the Dais. Her look, though unconventional, was becoming, and her debut surely did her House proud all the same. HL, Ariane Leana of the Baronial House of Stafyr Donning an outfit with her house colors, Lady Stafyr presented a rich and colorful show with clever touches of variety and individual uniqueness. Embroidery, a crimson silk sash, rich yellow sleeves to contrast the outfit overall and varying jewelry pieces of which were each more lovely than the last, arranged to accentuate the outfit perfectly. An individual and tasteful debut; and yet another to do the Baronial House great pride indeed. COMMONER HOUSES Miss Franziska of House Morovar Her debut would not be one you would expect of a commoner, although a pleasant surprise; and perhaps more befitting her since-post as Princess-Consort. The dress is extravagant and flatters her features well. The wings were additionally a unique touch, tying to her family's white Crow; perhaps a gift from her father? The yellows and blues in these pale tones, particularly over the white, denote a pure, light-hearted young woman; excellent traits to highlight at the start of the season, and more to the practical point, complement her raven complexion. Miss Kaida of House Voltonen-Novikov The Dais does hope Firress Kaida was not cold, given her exposed shoulders, but regardless – her hair was beautifully arranged, while the jewelry along her ears and collarbone mimicked it excellently. Her badger broaches tied the look back to her house, showing a sense of familial pride the Dais was very much looking to see, and her emergence was overall composed; respectful; and signifying distinct confidence in herself and her family. Miss Anya of House Volkov Firress Volkov impressed the Dais with a bold spin upon the end of her debut walk; one which invited suitors to look, outright. Her hint of red was precise, outlining her near-pure black gown, complemented further by white trim. This look both highlighted her figure and the colors of her house; a clever composition indeed, and with a dark intensity that undoubtedly set her apart from the rest of the season’s debutantes. Miss Allessandra of House de Vend The fairytale images depicted upon Firress de Vend’s dress are absolutely lovely, and have multiple meanings to them, one of which is her love for books. The colors of her dress almost seemed to change as she walked forward and light hit it, providing a mesmerizing shift. The beads to match, the locket, the girdle - each piece was carefully picked for her debut, only adding more to the outfit she donned overall. Further inspection would show further details of the dress as well, such as the gold lettering within the dress' stitch. A studious dress that captures the attention of onlookers with its complexity and hidden traits. IV JOVEO MAAN Her Royal Majesty, Sofia of Hyspia, Queen Dowager of Hanseti and Ruska, Princess of Hyspia His Excellency, Fabian Otto Kortrevich, Grand Lord of Hanseti-Ruska His Lordship, Murtagh Amador, Master of the Wardrobe
  7. A Fond Farewell For the end of an era @garentoft This post first came about as a recommendation of Tada as a means of honouring and appreciating Gus and future leaders for all the effort put in, out and in-game, for the community of Haense and its players. There is nothing which could be said in prologue that is not said by those who have chosen to contribute, but to be sure: Thank you. “While I’m not usually one for compliments, especially to the people I know well, Gusano of House Arentonio went from my Arch Nemesis and filthy Orenian dog to a dear ally and friend. On a serious note, Gus is an integral part of the Haense community and has the patience and kindness to talk to anyone he meets, he suffered the excruciating task of being a Nation Leader and made it out the other side reasonably well off. He is a great RPer and a chill guy to hang out with.” -DrewDOOD "Gus, our friendship started with me schizoing and msging you at 3am like a lunatic. Since then, it has grown as we talked, learned more about eachother overall and delved into this chaos. Thanks for taking a chance on me! I miss our matching pfps already!" -Tada “While I rarely agree with Gus on anything at all remotely related to minecraft, I still recall he was the first person I didn't already know who really made an effort to welcome me both into Haense and the wider community. Without him, I don't imagine I'd ever have stuck around. I'm always glad to know that he'll be willing to listen to me vent or hang around playing terrible games, and It's hard to deny that he's been a great community leader for ages now. I only hope his newfound freedom and deep seated hatred don't keep him too occupied to come around." -Ben “The first person to offer me a persona going into Haense was Gus (and ofc shay). From day one I was brought into Haense and I felt like all the sudden I had a community. Gus has been so sweet and I'd honestly never have made it into Haense if it weren't for the funny guy Haense knows and loves. He's done an amazing job and worked so hard to see that Haense would grow strong. Even in the times I felt like there was a disconnect and we were in trivial situations. Gus was always solid. Overall great guy. Quite amusing and I'm glad to be apart of the community he helped to create and foster.” -mady07 “During my first while in Haense, it was always intimidating walking up to a new experienced person, for fear of being ignored or walked away from. Gus was one of those people who walked TO me, and helped me to break out of my shell within my first month, and I very much doubt I, as well as many people, would have gotten as far as I have without him. Cheers Gus, hope your new pizza place treats you well" -Fionn “Gus was one of the first people that I met when I joined the server, and he welcomed my friends and I with open arms. Since then, he's become someone I talk to near daily and hang out with off the server (and one of the people who proofreads a lot of my posts). He is very considerate of others and their experiences, and can tiptoe around difficult situations while making people laugh. His PK of Georg is a well deserved break, and I hope you take some time off for yourself, Gus" -Kayla “Gus is a wonderful fella, very kindhearted and well meaning. Always helped me out with Hyspia and most importantly he's a good laugh." -HIGH_FIRE “Gus always put up with my demands for ducks plushies. Thanks to him, Ally got all the ducks she needs for her duck empire in the seven skies. Thank you for all the work you have done for the past few months!” -Smol “When I joined Haense at the end of 2022, I was hesitant I would even stick around let alone make any friends in the community. Yet, Gus was one of the most welcoming to me. Even in the short time we have known each other, I have found that he is always committed to uplifting those around him. There isn't a moment where he isn't cracking up a joke in VC, or spewing some random things that has us going off-topic for ages. He's made me feel apart of something, and I'm so thankful that he has given me the opportunities to start new storylines on the server, whilst also appreciating our newfound friendship. He's done so much for the Haense community over the years. Whilst I never got to witness it all and only his reign as king, I recognise that Gus is an exceptional player and I'm so excited to see what comes next for his narratives. I would say a lot more but I wouldn't want to get all mushy, hahaha, but thank you so much for everything you've done for myself and Haense." -Lisbeth “Gus showed me an incredible amount of kindness and patience once I arrived in Haense, and particularly as I found myself honoured enough to assist in the leading of this community. He stood as a remarkable leader and weaver of a narrative, and I’m so excited for the stories he gets to tell next. Safest travels.” -Critter “Gus has been a massive help not only to me but to others in the Weiss too. He was eager to get involved with new players and helped me, personally, begin grounding myself in the history and lore of the human realms when I was only maybe a month into the server which was a massive bolstering in confidence. He’s been welcoming, inclusive and I cannot thank him enough for the early support and fun. Later, he also showed himself to be massively helpful when I had questions. He’s gladly joined into VCs and answered whatever folks have needed to hear to the fullest of his ability. His laid-back and fun-loving ways have always made him exceptionally easy to work with, providing confidence and fun to those around him as much as he can by emboldening and supporting ideas! And more than any of that, he’s just been a good laugh to hang around with dumb roasts and memey games. Look after yourself Gus and keep being a cool-beans level dude." -Frostdrop1 "To the person that poached me from Norland and introduced me to the community where I met so many people dear to my heart - thank you. I will always be grateful for everything you've done for me and the rest of the community. You've left behind a spectacular legacy and have given the women of this community a space to be leaders, among so many other selfless actions during your tenure, and for that, I greatly appreciate you." -Sarah “Gus has been super helpful and patient with me so many times during hard times for me. And has been a great friend to me and so many others. He always tries his best to make a great community. And I appreciate him a lot.” -MissToni "You're a funny guy" -Seuss "Being a new player to the server only a year or two ago, I recall being extremely anxious to involve myself in the community, but Gus was extremely welcoming, kind, and inclusive toward me. He's genuinely one of the kindest people I've ever met. He's so extremely funny, and I love being able to hang out with him - this appreciation post is insanely overdue, because he deserves every number of thanks from the player base of Haense for all he's done for it. Acting as a peer, palatine, and King, he's gone above and beyond for us just so we have somewhere to creatively express ourselves, and he's sat and spoken to me numerous times when I've been struggling, advising me on anything that I ask of him. He's a great guy, and I'm proud to call him somebody that I can rely on." -Peachy “Cheers for the drinks in Copenhagen, go enjoy yourself properly.” -GMRO “He was the best of us, he was the worst of us and most of all he was my dickhead friend. Peace b!tch” -Nolan
  8. (WITH HONEY) Vol. 1 The Kids Tea, where the kids spill what tea they have seen during the Social Season! Hi there! We just had our first and second parts of Lifstala, the Haeseni social season, and we’re onto the third part soon. I’ve been having lots of fun watching everything, and there’s been… a LOT of things to watch, let’s put it that way. THE MASQUERADE BALL It was loud but fun! The masquerade ball started off the season with dancing, and really, really pretty dresses. Fabian did the Valdev shuffle- that was MY favorite part. I was laughing the whole time! But then, and you won’t believe this- there was a fight! On the first day of Lifstala! A woman slapped a man across the face, and he pulled at her hair. It was like watching little kids fight, it was kind of weird. I wonder why they were fighting? And after the ball, Princess Amaya threw a pie in somebody’s face! I kind of wish I had been there to see THAT. THE ROYAL AND NOBLE DEBUTS The start of the debuts was odder than anything! His Royal Highness, Stefan Edvard rode on a “horse” into the court. But it wasn’t a horse at all, it was somebody in a costume! When His Highness moved to the side, the person in the costume took it off, and revealed… THE KING. It was the strangest thing I’ve ever seen in a court, and that is saying something. I’m worried that the Baby Princess thinks her Papej is a horse now. She got really calm around horses after. But it was after the Debut, at the ball, that all of the chaos really happened. Somebody insulted Hyspians and the Koenas heard it ALL. I’m scared of the IDEA of that. Then, His Majesty George I passed out! There are lots of rumors going around about why. I heard from one person that he was ill from wearing the horse costume for so long. Somebody said that he was too intimidated by Ve Koenas when she was insulted. Hopefully His Majesty doesn’t try wearing a horse costume again. I do…NEIGHt think he could handle it. Signed, The Children of Haense
  9. On Letter Writing, Intentions, and Layout UKEN VE KRAWN I ROZZ Issued by the OFFICE OF VE ESROVA KORT On the 7th day of Vzmey ag Hyff of 481 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, Upon assigning tasks based around letter writing to the wards of the Morrivi Court, it has been brought to our attention that there appears to be some confusion surrounding the layout of a letter and how best to write one, depending on the intentions had. Below the previous work of Queen Isabel and her Court is credited, particularly the section on letter writing, which is greatly expanded upon for further education of our courts and Kingdom. ON PREVIOUS WRITINGS As referenced in Etiquette Reforms in the Royal Court of Hanseti-Ruska, Section II; Letters, published in 353 E.S. during the reign of Queen Isabel: “The art of composing a letter to anyone is a learned talent. Letters and calling cards are expected as a way of gratitude after a family has graciously hosted an event or dinner. Letters are also a way of solidifying courtship. Those particular notes should be crafted mindfully with tone and word choice in mind. Handwriting should be clear, not too large and bold yet possessing some kind of character or style.” These written words still hold true to this day, and we encourage you to read the full section within those reforms from some time ago. Our reason, though, for writing further on this now is not to change what was written but only to expand upon it further; allowing an increased understanding as to the art that is letter writing. THE LAYOUT OF A LETTER The layout of a letter finds its basis in whether it is a formal or informal letter, alongside that of the topic you wish to touch on. SALUTATIONS In any letter, the first part seen is the salutations, of which may contain the names of both parties. Whether you would see the recipient or the sender's name and titles first is dependent upon the status of the recipient and the sender alike, Below is an example, of a Count sending a letter to a Baroness: “The Right Honorable, Count of Oblong, Knight of the Realm and Defender of Haense and its vassals gives his greetings to Her Ladyship, Baroness of the Righthood, Ambassador to Petra -” This, above, is an example of a formal letter - One where the sender is of higher ranking then the recipient and the sender has not spoken to or sent a letter to the recipient previously. If the Count in question instead wished to flatter the Baroness, even if he had not met her previously, it would be written in a way such as this, allowing for a petition based subject instead: “To the inspiring Baroness of the Righthood, Her Ladyship, justful Ambassador to the Petra from the Right Honorable, Count of Oblong, Knight of the Realm and Defender of Haense and its vassals, greetings-” The difference in this introduction is that, compared to the first, it speaks of the perceived virtues of the recipient, despite their lower status - and by listing them first, offers flattery. This is why more often than not, you would see something petitioned afterwards, as a compliment is offered before the request. There are a total of four introductions, the formal neutral, which was listed in the first example above. This lists the higher statused sender first, with no form of flattery within the letter. The second type is formal good, this being where you go for flattery, in which the lower statused recipient is listed first. Each of these can have subsections to it, which can change the letter and its intentions with but a few changes of layout. Formal neutral, though, stays just as that with no subsections as it what one would call truly formal. Under formal good, though, there are a few choices. You may choose in such phases of politeness to list the higher statused individual first, which in this example is you, the Count - With virtuous words used towards the recipient as a form of a flattery meant not to come on too strong, when the recipient is listed second. Another choice is to do as in the example; listing the lower statused recipient first with virtuous words or you may choose not to use virtuous words at all. Each of these three subsections are a form of flattery, often used before making a request, or that of a petition. The other two levels of politeness for introductions that have not been listed yet are on informal letters. In this instance, our example changes, though this time the Count and the Baroness are old friends, those who have spoken and written previously and have known each other for quite some time. Some examples may be given below for reference: “My dear Lady Anabel, -” Or “My Lady, -” Shorter, sweeter and friendlier are these examples above. Should they be used on someone you are not close with, however, it may constitute a great offense. The first example will be kept to the theme of naming and be dubbed as informal good. This in particular boasts several details of note in this short but sweet sentence. It uses the Baroness’s first name, Anabel, and refers to her informally as ‘Lady’ versus that of ‘Baroness’. Additionally, the word ‘dear’ is used beforehand, denoting a close friendship and a care for the recipient. In opposition, is simply ‘My Lady’, which shall be under the informal neutral manner. The sender and recipient are friendly enough to warrant using informal letters, but are not close enough to exchange words as is used in the other example above. The Count refers to her as ‘Lady’, an informal term versus that of ‘Baroness’, with some denotion to their friendship as he also uses the word ‘My’. ON WELL-BEING This next part of the letter is not as interchangeable as the section soon to be touched on; petition, may be, as this section is generally expected to keep up any friendship (in the case of an informal letter) or to keep the recipient in a good mood (in the case of a formal letter). This section of the letter oftentimes sees the sender wishing the recipient good health, prosperous fortune or otherwise. What should be included in this section is more often than not up to the sender, but it should have basis in the intention of the letter. Should this be a formal letter, you’d find the example below fitting: “I have heard news of your recent pursuits in your Ambassadorial duties within Petra and commend them highly. The news on the recently made Pact of the Petrine Crow has spread far and wide, leaving the people in great cheer, which I pray you are much the same. Upon reading your work, I can only hope to hear more in the future.” This, as you can see above, is formal while still offering an amount of flattery to put the recipient into higher spirits. Naturally, of course, for letters more of a discourse type nature - This example can be written differently, in which you are not aiming to put them in any sort of mood, or are even wishing to set them into something more foul. More often than not, though, you shall find yourself checking on their well-being. In another example, you would use this when requesting something from someone; in which a petition is followed afterwards. In this instance, more often than not, you would expect to see someone quoting a proverb about how noble or generous they are, being followed by requesting something: “Your noble pursuits have shown to give freely and yet gain even more - for a generous person such as yourself prospers, refreshing others and thus being refreshed. Such generosity has been noticed in the recent Pact of the Petrine Crow which has spread far and wide, rejuvenating to the people's ears and offering hope for the future.” The example above is formal, yet uses flattery, proverbs and speaks of their noble pursuits, their generosity and just how refreshing it is. When reading this, anyone can tell it is leading up to a request, a petition within the letter written. With that of informal letters, it is a different story in which you may more simply check on their well-being, without as much use of proverbs, flowery language or otherwise, an example of such below: “I hope I write to you of well-mind and health, and that of your family. I’d heard of the pact made with Petra and am happy to see you prospering under your new position!” It can be longer, shorter or otherwise but the example gets the point across. It checks in on her health and even that of her family’s, and comments on how she must be prospering as he mentions having heard of the Pact made - a sign of a job well done. ON NARRATION This next part is where the actual purpose of the letter is expounded upon, in which the sender may speak of their family, difficulties they had at home, relay certain information or otherwise. Below is an example of formal good narration in letter writing: “It is that of the aforementioned future that troubles me so. The yield of the crops this year has been low and famine high, in which your noble pursuits of the Pact of the Petrine Crow may offer the people much needed respite. How they suffer so, seeking the generosity of a noble individual such as yourself, to allow their bellies to be full and hearts warm.” With a narration such as this, it would likely be followed by a petition which will be touched on in a later section. The narration in question touches on several things: that trouble has been had in the lands of which the Count writes from, and that the trouble is based around food - by mention of the Pact, one can gather that there was likely some mention of trade in the pact that would benefit the people in question. Following this, though, is another example in which you would find an informal narration: “I wish things were just as prosperous back home but alas; the food stock has been dwindling due to famine, and I find myself scouring the markets for but a crumb -” This is kept relatively informal, and with how it is written, it would be followed by a petition. ON PETITIONS This part of the letter may be omitted entirely if your letter does not include a request, it can also include pleas, admonishments or otherwise, depending on the intent of the letter in question. In order to keep with the examples given above, we’ll continue in the base of a Count writing a letter to a Baroness. Below is an an example, keeping to the formal good style we have been discussing: “I beg of you in this instance to send even a portion of what was gained in the trade deal made within the Pact of the Petrine Crow so that the people may be renewed, and filled with food to their heart's content - for this famine may continue for some time, and only your generous nature shall stave off further ruin.” The example above is a request, in keeping with the flattery and intentions of the letter being written - It plays on the recipient's good nature, speaks of the trouble of others, and is worded in a way so as to sweet-talk them into receiving the petition in question. Intentions, though, can make or break a letter. Even with the flattery used previously, this part can be changed to be of a threatening nature, as exemplified below: “And yet, it is with that same nobility and that same reputation that has preceded you with the making of the Pact of the Petrine Crow - one that would not be had without the aid of myself. Pay heed to what I demand, munitions as agreed upon within the Pact are to be sent henceforth to the people here.” The example above has altered the tone and intentions of the letter entirely, however keeping still with the formal good manner of writing letters - while putting forth a threat to the Baroness from the Count. ON CONCLUSIONS Considered primarily as the last part of the letter, which is true and yet not at the same time, this section collates the letter’s message, states goodbyes, expresses well-wishes, or if one is maintaining a threatening tone, states the consequences of ignoring your petition. Keeping to the previous examples of a formal good letter, this is an example of a conclusion that may be had: “There is no more to you at this time, for I hope this letter finds you well and that we may speak further in due time. I imagine, though, that I will hear word of your generous actions long before I receive such a letter back. I pray for you at this time, for your good health, and for your continued success, offering GODspeed and GODbless as I bid you my farewell.” This brings us nearly to the end of the written letter, in which further well-wishes are expressed - prayers and flattery alike; all of which keep to the tone and intentions of the letter that is to be sent. Subsequently, following conclusions are that of signatures and a date, so as to show that the letter is authentic. A date or location need not always be separate if it is included in the conclusion of the letter itself. The date of which this is written is more often than not at the top of the letter itself, the signature at the bottom alongside a notation as to where the letter was written, so a response might be penned in turn. To further ensure authenticity, as one wishes to prevent the potential of letter forgery, the letter upon its conclusion shall be folded and stamped with wax, before the personal or familial seal of the sender - based on the intent of the letter - is imprinted into the wax. The wax seal is of great importance, as it is a way of showing identity and proving just who has sent the letter; signed signature or not. LETTER EXAMPLES An example of a formal good letter written by Queen Sofia, based upon the example detailed previously, a Count contacting a Baroness is written below. Petitioning is used, alongside flattery in this example: “To the inspiring Baroness of the Righthood, Her Ladyship, justful Ambassador to the Petra from the Right Honorable, Count of Oblong, Knight of the Realm and Defender of Haense and its vassals, greetings. Your noble pursuits have shown to give freely and yet gain even more - for a generous person such as yourself prospers, refreshing others and thus being refreshed. Such generosity has been noticed in the recent Pact of the Petrine Crow which has spread far and wide, rejuvenating to the people's ears and offering hope for the future. It is that of the aforementioned future that troubles me so. The yield of the crops this year has been low and famine high, in which your noble pursuits of the Pact of the Petrine Crow may offer the people much needed respite. How they suffer so, seeking the generosity of a noble individual such as yourself, to allow their bellies to be full and hearts warm. I beg of you in this instance to send even a portion of what was gained in the trade deal made within the Pact of the Petrine Crow so that the people may be renewed, and filled with food to their heart's content - for this famine may continue for some time, and only your generous nature shall stave off further ruin. There is no more to you at this time, for I hope this letter finds you well and that we may speak further in due time. I imagine, though, that I will hear word of your generous actions long before I receive such a letter back. I pray for you at this time, for your good health, and for your continued success, offering GODspeed and GODbless as I bid you my farewell.” An example of a informal neutral letter by Lady Karyna: “To My Lady, Karina Ludovar I do hope this letter finds you in good health. It has been some time since we have spoken and I wished to reach out as a means of catching up in these dire times. I hope that all is well within the Family of Ludovar. Perhaps at some point, should you be available, we could meet for tea or hot cocoa. GOD knows we need to keep friends near when times are tough. I look forward to your response, may GOD bless you and your family, farewell.” IV JOVEO MAAN Her Royal Majesty, Sofia of Hyspia, Queen-Consort of Hanseti and Ruska, Princess of Hyspia, Princess-Consort of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Slesvik, Solvesborg, and Ulgaard, Duchess-Consort of Carnatia, and Vanaheim, Margravine-Consort of Korstadt, Rothswald and Vasiland, Countess-Consort of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Siegrad, Torun, Toruv, Valdev, and Werdenburg, Viscountess-Consort of Varna, Baroness-Consort of Astfield, Buck, Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, and Thurant. 12. INFORMATIONAL GUIDE UKEN VE KRAWN I ROZZ Issued by the OFFICE OF VE MORRIVI KORT On the 9th day of Joma ag Umund of 479 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK This guide is meant to aid and direct our citizenry in the upcoming Lifstala of Haense, our sixth to date and announce officially the opening of sign-ups for the Haeseni Social Season where those coming of age may announce their intentions to look for a partner and wed. It shall soon be the season of love and romance, and we wish these prospective couples to be fully informed as to what is expected of them and what to expect. ON THE PRESENTATION OF DEBUTANTES AND BACHELORS On the matter of debuts, there are a few things of note for those attending to know this Season; the first is when planning your clothing for the opening presentations, to be aware that this season's theme is ‘A Hint of Red’, in which when debuting you may wear your family colors and fashions with pride but a splash of red must be somewhere on your person. Alongside this, men and women alike are meant to debut. There will be no gawking from the sidelines, full participation is expected from both sides of the coin. Keeping with previous seasons, those of a higher status will debut first - though, families will be announced together in which they present alongside their kin for brevity. In the effort of incorporating a piece of the Queen-Consort Sofia of Hyspias culture, in lieu of asking each potential debutante and bachelor a question this year, a flower or token is requested to be brought and given by the individual to the person they believe has contributed the most to who they are today, as is done in Hyspian Quinceaneras. FURTHER INFORMATION PERTINENT TO APPLICANTS Any Noble worth their salt knows much of this information to follow, but it will be covered nonetheless in this little informational guide. The donning of tiaras is allowed in this for the nobility if they have an ancestor they inherited it from, as it keeps to the etiquette of Coming of Age ceremonies. Be careful not to be alone with another, as it could lead to rumour and scandal. Debutantes and bachelors are expected to be joined by a chaperone should they wish a moment to speak personally. An etiquette class is held before a Saints hour or two before debuts which teaches a majority of what you would need to know for your debut. A Hauchmetvas is for the first-born daughter of any Peer, in which she comes of age and any potential suitors may present themselves. When filling out your application to sign-up, which the form will be attached below, a Peer is the titled head of the household of your family, for example, this being the Viscount Colborn or the Baroness Amador. The heir is the declared heir of that household. If you are neither, you will simply mark that you are neither and specify whether you are a commoner, nobility or royalty in one of the following questions. Otherwise, as to your application, be sure to include your full name, what nation you reside in and any pertinent information for our Lifstala planners. If one wishes to partake in the upcoming Lifstala, one may direct their interest towards the form below. Sign-ups will end on the 5th day of Msitza Ag Dragund of 479 E.S (5th of June 2023) and we will be accepting no more entries thereafter, as the debut list will be published once closed. This upcoming season of Lifstala shall commence upon the 9th day of Vyzney ag Hyff of 481 E.S (9th of June 2023) until the 15th Day of Jula Ag Piov of 482 E.S (15th of June 2023). VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, With the discussion had as to the worry of just how long we shall be residing within this new Underdark, and that of the concerns of what our people will eat during this time, it was decided someone must be appointed in leading expeditions as to this new area, trying what our new environment has to offer and to provide a guide as to what is safe and provides nourishment to eat versus not. Keeping this in mind, this position of Master of Agriculture is being made under the Morrivi Prikaz Courts. This position is temporary, granted for the time being and will be looked at once more as to whether it is needed once we leave this area. MASTER OF AGRICULTURE Ser Sterling Amador @VerminHunter Ser Sterling Amador took charge when the worry was mentioned by troubled citizens and the Queen alike. Setting forth on an expedition, he tried what was there at the risk to his own health, all in the name of the Kingdom. With prior experience in camping, and finding food in strange places, the courts believe him a fine fit as our Master of Agriculture. IV JOVEO MAAN His Royal Majesty, Georg, by the Grace of Godan, King of Hanseti and Ruska, Grand Hetman of the Army, Hochmeister of the Order of the Crow, Prince of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Solvesborg, Slesvik and Ulgaard, Duke of Carnatia and Vanaheim, Margrave of Korstadt, Rothswald and Vasiland, Count of Alban, Siegrad, Werdenburg, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Torun, and Toruv, Viscount of Varna, Baron of Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, Buck, Thurant and Astfield, Lord of the Westfolk, Protector and Lord of the Highlanders, etcetera. 14. Issued by the MORRIVI PRIKAZ COURTS On this 6th day of Joma ag Ugmund of 476 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, With the onslaught of letters that have come with our previous missives, the palace has been busy with varying footsteps and the doors to offices opening and closing as interviews take place. And so those interviews have been fruitful, producing seven new members of our courts, all of which we look forward to just what they do during their tenure. Even so, the courts are still interviewing, still hiring and within the coming Saints days, a missive will be posted to show just which positions have been filled and what we still seek to fill in turn. COURT ADVISOR Her Highness, Princess Hera Munnel @Apotolofo What one would call a colorful and loud individual, spotted across any ballroom floor with a shock of red hair, her Ladyship Hera is someone that is certainly difficult to ignore. Having traveled immensely, and with her penchant of meeting those of even the strangest countenance, she will be an invaluable advisor on matters having to deal with the lands of Almaris, its groups and otherwise. COURT KHAZYA Her Ladyship, Amelya Kortrevich @CupOTea__ Having recently returned to the Capital after an illness in her youth, Her Ladyship seeks to bring people together and inspire others during these troubling times. She has completed extensive research into particular events and customs, and the Court looks forward to just what she produces during her tenure. COURT ASTROLOGER His Lordship, Sterling Amador @VerminHunter The Lord Sterling Amador came recommended by our recently retired Court Astrologer, having helped her previously in drafting her missives on the Haeseni Zodiacs. After a lengthy interview, we naturally realized the why of the recommendation. Knowledgeable not only on what is published upon the missives, but he understands the finer details and appreciates the traditional heart of the Sigmundic Zodiac. His Lordship looks forward to teaching the value of the stars to those within Haense and perhaps even beyond, and we certainly look forward to how he does so. MASTER OF THE ROBES His Lordship, Murtagh Amador @Gutz An individual who has more recently returned from the countryside, with a storied collection of works that will breathe air upon the tender flames of our courts fashion and bring it to greater heights then previous. With a keen interest as to the clothing and jewelry those don in the varying multi-cultural styles across that of Haense, he is sure to be a hit within our courts, setting and documenting many trends. COURT BAKNA Her Ladyship, Marija Colborn @CelestialBoba Her Ladyship would be one of the more obvious appointments, as it’s well-known she had been hired on to bake the cakes, plural, at the royal wedding between King Georg I and the now Queen Sofia of Hyspia. The cakes were inventful, creative and above all, delicious. The courts are eager to see and taste her baking in the future, and just how, if even possible, how her skills grow in the meantime. COURT MUSICIAN Her Ladyship, Astrid Colborn @MutatedPotato The Lady Astrid was a more unorthodox appointment, having come across the Queen after a late meeting - henceforth presenting herself and her will to become that of a Musician for the courts. With agreement set upon, they moved to the ballroom where a series of instruments were presented to choose from, the violin soon chosen. What better to speak for one in an interview on the musical arts then music itself, afterall? A sweet, tender lullaby was played with a voice that could hit the high notes to boot. No questions were needed, exclaiming her maravillosa performance! COURT LIBRARIAN Her Ladyship, Anastasia Kortrevich @Orneth Her Ladyship Anastasia has gone on to show her passion for books, seeking out the caretaker of the Morrivi Prikaz library, and speaking on how she believes them to be a powerful tool for learning and personal growth and how she wishes to show the denizens of Haense just that. With her goals in mind, she spoke of hosting story nights and the like - a lovely pastime. Her ambitions were proven rather quickly and her ability to get things done, as she had immediately got to work in aiding our caretaker with a matter of the books within the library. Having shown her intentions already, we believe she’d make a lovely fit within our courts. COURT SCRIBE Firr, Jonathan O’Kieran @SirB0ng0 Last but certainly not least is the Firr Jonathan, having taken the chance to present himself before the King and Queen at their wedding feast - a sword and an offer alike. His offer amounted to becoming a Scribe for Their Majesties, and having been called upon at a later date for an interview in an official capacity, it was found that he has published many previous works and has made a bit of a name for himself. A name that we only hope grows further during his tenure under our Morrivi Prikaz courts. Her Royal Majesty, Sofia of Hyspia, Queen-Consort of Hanseti and Ruska, Princess of Hyspia, Princess-Consort of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Solvesborg, Slesvik and Ulgaard, Duchess-Consort of Carnatia and Vanaheim, Margravine-Consort of Korstadt, Rothswald and Vasiland, Countess-Consort of Alban, Siegrad, Werdenburg, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Torun, and Toruv, Viscountess-Consort of Varna, Baroness-Consort of Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, Buck, Thurant and Astfield, Lady of the Westfolk, Protector and Lady of the Highlanders, etcetera. His Excellency, Fabian Otto Kortrevich, Grand Lord of Hanseti and Ruska
  15. Issued by the MORRIVI PRIKAZ COURTS On this 6th day of Msitsa ag Dargund of 476 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, Our most recent missive detailed the opening of interviews and the restructuring of the Morrivi Prikaz courts alike, and it has since been fruitful. With many birds flying in across Karosgrad and even beyond, the court is soon to see many appointments once this round of interviews has come to an end. Until then, those that have proven themselves to the Monarchs and their council are appointed today, where they shall begin their positions henceforth. We look forward to their contributions to the growth of our courts, our home, Kingdom and Nation. And in turn, we hope that the people of Haense will support them in whatever endeavors they intend to pursue within Our royal courts. THE COURT ADVISOR Her Highness, Princess Veronica Weiss @Bethinwonderland Her Highness is someone who offers a unique perspective all of her own, whether it’s on politics, how to handle a conflict or otherwise - her competence knows no bounds and she is a valued member of our courts. With her appointment, she is to stay close by the Queen's side, to discuss matters as they are needed with an intent ear. THE COURT ADVISOR Her Royal Highness, Vicereine-Madre Laurelie de Pelear @AnimeWolf0080 Mother to the Queen, her storied history from her birth in the fallen Empire of Oren, the sprouting of the Kingdom of Balian and to her time now within the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska has left her with a unique perspective to bestow upon the Queen and the council, for her wisdom knows no bounds. THE COURT ADVISOR His Lordship, Haus Weiss-Vuiller @PrimnyaQuorum His Lordship is one knowledgeable in multiple aspects, namely that of law and medicine. This has been gained from his time as the Deputy-Surgeon General of the St. Amayas’ Clinic of Karosgrad, alongside that as Jovenaar. Level-headed and supplying logic and logistics to our courts, he’ll make a fine addition to the council. THE MASTER OF THE ABSTRACT His Lordship, Haus Weiss-Vuiller @PrimnyaQuorum The second role for His Lordship to be appointed to within this missive, his knowledge of magical matters has made him indisposable, furthermore with his work as a Mage allowing either magic to delight the denizens of the court or to aid in the varying conflicts raging across Almaris as of current. The discussions between him and the Queen established his duties along the lines of this; keeping awareness of the magical happenings within the kingdom and the world, ensuring magical happenings within the kingdom are kept under control and regulation and furthering the kingdom's understanding of the magical and the abstract. THE MISTRESS OF THE PANTRY Firress, "Nona" Fable Annette Ambrosia @_mady07 A relatively new face to the streets of Karosgrad and yet, one beloved all the same. She clicked in with a cane, a missive and shouted words as she began to feed anyone with a hungry belly within our very streets. Seeing this, the first task assigned to our newly appointed Grand Lord was to bring her into our courts immediately, naming her Mistress of the Pantry. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, The Morrivi Court, the Queen's purview over her nation and realm, has been restructured after the recent retirement of the former Grand Lady, the Lady Viorica Kortrevich. Her work is undeniable during her tenure, seeing to it that it worked efficiently and fluidly alike and for that we thank her. Nevertheless, the now Queen has obtained two promising individuals to contribute to the Morrivi Court’s further growth, promoting from within before she seeks those outside of the current roles. THE GRAND LORD HIS LORDSHIP, FABIAN KORTREVICH @critter His Lordship has proved his dedication to the courts during his tenure as Master of the Hunt, with a keen eye of the details, efficiency in the events he ran and clear communication - three things one should take pride in and that the courts would look for within a Grand Lord or Lady alike. THE LADY CUSTODIAN HER LADYSHIP, ALLESSANDRA DE VEND @Smol Her Ladyship has proven during her tenure as the Lady Chamberlain her work ethic, just how she gets things done and the tidy up-keep of the projects she sees to. It is for this reason the courts sees her better suited to a role as the Lady Custodian, where she is henceforth promoted, with reign over the palace, its servantry and its day to day up-keep. ON INTERVIEWS Due to the restructuring of the courts and the opening and filling of positions anew, interviews are officially open for those who currently hold positions and those who do not alike - to see where they fit best within our Morrivi Prikaz. 17. A GRAND LADY’S FORBEARANCE THE RESIGNATION OF VIORICA KORTREVICH Issued by the GRAND LADY On this 10th day of Grona ag Droba of 476 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, Long have I reigned over the Royal Courts and tended to them with every fiber of effort in my being, instating within this institution many reforms, means of cultural expansion, and a space for the denizens of Haense to freely express themselves by way of the arts and many other creative liberties. It has been seventeen years since I was appointed Grand Lady by their Majesties, Georg I and Esfir of Jerovitz, and although many of these years found me laden with the stress of shouldering the weight of the Royal Courts, the end of my tenure has allowed me to reflect and fully relish in the pride of what I have managed to achieve alongside my councilors and various advisors. However, the cogs of this well-oiled machine must keep turning, and so the cycle begins again as the arrival of new talent graces the Royal Courts. Thus, it is with a somber heart that I must announce my departure from the Royal Courts and in turn, His Majesty’s Aulic Council. It has been a privilege to serve the Kingdom, and it is something that I will pride myself on for the rest of my days on this plane. Nevertheless, I should note that none of this would have been possible without the aid of my family and friends, and thus I must formally extend my thanks to them - especially my brother, the Duke Ruthern. To those who are unaware, I am of common birth - formerly deemed a bastard, and were it not for the efforts of my brother to legitimize me, I would not have achieved what I have. Even still, the circumstances of one’s birth should not bar one from pursuing the vast amount of possibilities present in the Kingdom of Haense, and so I implore you all to think and reflect on this: We are all equal in the eyes of GOD, and thus we are all capable of achieving great things. Do not doubt your capabilities. You are all deeply and greatly cherished, regardless of your origin. And so, I tender my resignation. From the depths of my heart, I thank you Haense, for allowing me the opportunity to serve as your Grand Lady. With duty, comes honor. Krusae zwy Kongzem. IV JOVEO MAAN Her Excellency, Viorica Irena Kortrevich, Grand Lady of Hanseti-Ruska
  18. COUTURE OF THE PEOPLE Issued by the Morrivi Prikaz Advisory Council On this 8th day of Jula ag Piov of 476 E.S. VOLUME II VA VE EDLERVIK, The Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska has gladly become a multicultural place during the reign of His Majesty, Koeng Georg I. Vast groups of people from different origins have arrived in the frozen north to settle, and they have brought their customs in regard to fashion with them. Therefore, the Morrivi Prikaz Advisory Council finds it necessary to continue its publications with which it informs the Haeseni people of the cultures of our residents. Each section has been recorded with deference to those whose expertise each style is. Hanso-Hyspian fashion has become integrated since the coming of the Viceroyal House de Pelear to settle on the Silver Isle, Hanso-Ayrikiv dress has over many generations become commonplace among the Ayr residents of Valwyck, and Hanso-Almannir fashion has recently made an appearance among the courts with the presence of the kin of House Stafyr in the capital. Each style has adapted to the chill air of the Haeseni northern climate, and has, through its integration, been approved as suitable for courtly appearances. Visitors to the Kingdom have been noted to admire the multicultural displays present in each person. HANSO-ALMANNIR FASHION Residing primarily in the House of Stafyr, Hanso-Almannir garb has taken influence during the years that the Almannir people inhabited warmer climates. Commonly, such clothes are of earthy or natural hues, however it is not infrequent for Almannir women to be seen in green, red, brown, or other brighter colors. Commonplace across all attire, however, is the use of gold as a compliment through embroidery, jewelry, or threaded lining. Among Almannir women, the most common adornment is that of the bliaut - or overgown - that often has wide trailing sleeves and and is bound by belts fashioned from plain, gemstone-engraved, or detailed leather. Often, a bliaut is also dressed with beautiful and exotic fur pelts meant to accentuate the garment and its wearer. If one requires further insulation against the cold but without the stubbornness of animal hide, many Almannir women elect a cloth cotehardie - or long, fitted, and buttoned gown - fashioned over an underdress of thick wool. Occasionally, while decoration a cotehardie, one may place an elaborately embroidered surcoat atop it. Women of a more advanced age may choose to wear skirts more akin to cord-gowns with accompanying cloaks laid onto them. It is not uncommon for Almannir women to be spotted wearing pantaloons bound tautly to the legs with twine secured about the ankles and a belt at the hip. These garments are usually accompanied by knee-high boots, and the upper half often bears a decorative tunic with fur pelts or off-shoulder embroidered cloaks. Almannir men dress in rich fineries, covered in thick wools bound by the clutch of study boots and a belt. Alike their female counterparts, a colourful masculine bliaut is common when accompanied by the traditional tunic. Similarly, men frequently dress themselves in loose overgarments accompanied by leather belts and cuffs, and simple tunics are decorated most popularly by lavish cloths, fur capes, animal hides or pelts. Almannir men also wear their own cotehardies, jackets and houppelandes - a lightweight outergarment with a long body and flaring sleeves. Despite having fewer clothing options than women, the men always ensure to show off their elaborate finery through adornment of an accompanying variety of jewellry, belts, hats. With the migration and return to colder weather, Hanso-Almannir people had to adapt to the chill climate through the adoption of furs, an endeavor that is supported by Almannir tendencies towards hunting and falconry. Often, animal pelts and hides are used to decorate a more simple garment such as a belt, or by use as a fur cape. Leather accessories are also favoured. HANSO-HYSPIAN FASHION Following the arrival of the Viceroyal House of de Pelear and their fellow cultural denizens upon the newly renamed Ciudad de Plata, the clothing the Hyspians donned has began to circulate primarily throughout the Capital, alongside some of the warmer areas of our fair nation. These clothes are vibrant, with rich hues, and colorful fabrics that are often seen in many layers that make up an outfit. Sapphire blues have become prominent due to the flourishing mines, and crimson reds make their appearance amongst other primary colors. Naturally, though, when acclimating to Haense and namely that of the Capital of Karosgrad, warmth is paramount. Cardigans with embroidered flowers and ponchos with intricate designs became a staple, silver or aurum chains tying the pieces together. Added layers of vibrant fabrics, belts, buckles, pins, and the like became more notable in turn. Each adornment becomes a fashion statement of their own; the quality of a brooch or pin and its grandeur helps those to tell the individual's status. For those who need something a bit more luxurious, camel furs have become an absolute must-have, with the current Viceroy rumored to have imported hundreds of camels from the deserts of the South with his mad obsession with them. Camel skins have seen use in cloaks, the occasional hat, or along the inner lining of a dress or pants. Furthermore, Hyspian clothing holds a common theme of square necklines, various jewelry, and embroidery holding symbolism to that of the Hyspian people and of the church, and each layer of fabric is more colorful than the last. HANSO-AYRIKIV FASHION Ayrikiv culture has been deeply embedded within House Baruch’s roots since its earliest days, though the distinctive clothing and customs that notably correspond with the House’s traditions have yet to be formally established. The word ‘tartan’ refers to the fabric characterized by interlocking stripes running up, down, and even diagonally on a weave of cloth. It is usually made of thick wool and the embroidered designs bear significant meanings to those who don the patterns. Most notably, House Baruch and their descendants are well-known for bedecking themselves with fashions such as these, though there are two distinctive patterns that hold particular significance within Ayrikiv culture: the argyle and sillitoe patterns. The argyle pattern is worn by the wiser and older members of House Baruch and often denote authority or power, whilst the sillitoe (checked) pattern is more commonly seen amongst the general Ayrikiv population. Ayrikiv women usually don patterned corsets and vests, whereas younger girls adorn themselves with thick woolen Ghillie shirts paired with long tartan-patterned skirts. Sashes and shawls bearing the pattern are also frequently seen amongst courtiers and are typically lined with fur to keep warm in the frigid cold of the northern reaches of Valwyck. Wealthier women may don ornate clasps or pins upon their shawls to symbolize their own status. Ayrikiv men, on the other hand, fashion themselves with Ghillie shirts as well, although most notably the men don kilts. Kilts are the most popularized staple of Ayrikiv fashion, and usually, only men wear them - though a woman might don one on a hunting trip with her kin. These kilts are always checked or striped with a specialized tartan pattern unique to the wearer and lined with fur to keep warm as per Haeseni tradition. CLOSING REMARKS Haense’s vibrant liveliness in recent years has allowed the varying subcultures of her people to flourish and thrive. It is the hope of the Morrivi Prikaz Advisory Council that these cultures may continue to do so, so that the cultural enrichment of our glorious Dual-Kingdom will continue in the years to come. We hope that these publishings might instill pride in the citizens of the Dual-Kingdom, for the richness of Hanseti-Ruska’s cultures are ever-growing, and such is something that we on the Morrivi Prikaz Council pride ourselves on. IV JOVEO MAAN Her Excellency, Viorica Irena Kortrevich, Grand Lady of Hanseti-Ruska Her Highness, Sofia Camila de Pelear, Princess of Hyspia, Court Custodian of Hanseti-Ruska Her Ladyship, Laetitia d’Abbassia, Former Mistress of the Robes Firress Olessya Amador, Head Assistant to the Mistress of the Robes Her Ladyship, Elia Eryka Colborn-Stafyr, Curator of Crown Jewels Her Ladyship, Anabel Elia Colborn, Keeper of the Book of House Colborn
  19. THE PRE-SEASON FAIR OF 474 E.S. Issued by the GRAND LADY On this 10th day of Vzmey ag Hyff of 474 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK, Bearing in mind the approaching Social Season, the Morrivi Prikaz Advisory Council has decided to integrate into tradition a new type of Haeseni celebration: Ve Wyrsavest, a jubilant fair intended to honor the upcoming Social Season. Spanning over the course of three months, the up-and-coming nobles of this flourishing generation may display their strength, familial pride, and optionally, the pursuit of courtship should they seek it preceding the official Haeseni Social Season, now officially dubbed Ve Sovestna. The Wyrsavest is also intended to usher in a new era of pride and good relations amongst the Haeseni families, noble or common, as a formal precursor to the Sovestna Season. What was once known as Ve Lifstala has been redubbed Ve Sovestna so that the former connotations of this momentous occasion may be re-established and formally instated; Rather than primarily centering the Season’s celebrations around courtship and marriage, Ve Sovestna will place emphasis on the celebration of Haeseni unity, one’s ascension to adulthood, and familial pride. However, courtships will subsequently - and are certainly encouraged to - blossom during Ve Sovestna to further strengthen the unity of the Haeseni people. THE VORENBURG FEST (Saturday, April 29th, 6:30 PM EST) Wyrsavest will commence by way of a jointly-hosted festival on Lake Voron. House Colborn and House Kortrevich have banded together to commemorate the very first Wyrsavest with a festival boasting a number of Highlandic games such as water-wrestling, cow-wrangling, log-tossing, tug-a-war, and so on. It is encouraged that each family puts forth a champion to represent their respective House, for the sake of celebrating familial pride and Haeseni strength on this day. THE KAROSGRADI JOUST (Sunday, April 30th, 5:00 PM EST) The second month of Wyrsavest will indulge in an age-old tradition loved by many Haeseni: jousting. Hosted in the Hippodrome in Karosgrad, Haense, champions will joust under a designated familial banner. Should a participant in the joust desire to befriend or court an individual, they may ask for their favor. A favor is a beflowered wreath, intricately woven with differing blooms that bear certain meanings. The meanings of these varying blossoms will, of course, demonstrate the underlying intentions of the one who bestows it unto their champion. THE QUEENSWOOD HUNT (Monday, May 1st, 7:00 PM EST) To conclude the Wyrsavest, the Master of the Hunt will personally lead a hunting party into the Queenswood. Each attendee will be encouraged to form teams with those they wish to pursue a friendship or courtship with and thus venture into the forest in pairs or groups. Once the hunt has succinctly concluded, hunters will be guided into the lodge for an evening of drinking and merriment. To further facilitate blossoming relations, pelts or other souvenirs garnered from the hunt may be presented as a token of friendship or an extension of one’s affections. IV JOVEO MAAN Her Excellency, Viorica Irena Kortrevich, Grand Lady of Hanseti-Ruska
  20. COUTURE OF THE PEOPLE Issued by the Morrivi Prikaz Advisory Council On this 10th day of Tov ag Yermey of 470 E.S. VOLUME I A VE EDLERVIK, The reign of His Majesty, Koeng Georg I has heralded a new era of fashion befitting the grandeur of his influence, and the prosperity the Dual Kingdom has experienced under his rule. Henceforth, new publications are presented to keep the Haeseni people informed on the present state of dress. Fashion has proved increasingly fluid in recent years; with furs remaining present, of course; to combat the ever-present chill in Hanseti-Ruska. Rhenyari influences have remained since the era of the late Koenas Amadea of Susa as well, however. Hanso-Ruskan styles of dress are most present in houses of Karovic descent; however, the influences of such fashions have declined in comparison to Rhenyar and broader northern styles. Courtiers and visitors to the Haeseni Courts are free to wear what they wish, however, so long as their attire is suitable for a Courtly setting. The purpose of this document is to detail the some of the most prevalent styles of dress, excluding that of Hyspian, Ayrikiv, and Almannir fashions, which will be presented in Volume II. GENERAL HAESENI FASHION The most common style of dress within the Dual Kingdom is characterized by furs and hardy leathers, with notable pops of color following the surge of Rhenyari influence during Amadea of Susa’s reign. However, most Haeseni people have reverted to their northern roots, donning layers upon layers of thick wool for the purpose of warmth - though it is safe to say that one's sense of style is hardly sacrificed as these outfits are accessorized with belts, colorful fabrics, and jewels. One’s attire typically denotes their cultural roots and familial pride, which is of utmost importance within the Morrivi Prikaz Courts. Because of this, it is somewhat difficult to pinpoint exactly what the average Haeseni might wear in modern times due to the vast expanse of cultures and influences within our Court. The general characteristics of attire that are most frequently prioritized typically revolve around comfort and warmth, first and foremost, especially during the harsher winter months of the year. HANSO-SCYFLING FASHION The traditional garment worn by Scyfling ladies is a bunad. These dresses are lavishly embroidered and are often worn with other accessories such as shawls, scarves, bonnets, and characteristically thick belts. There are a variety of bunad styles seen within the Dual Kingdom, particularly the Scyebunad, the Goresbunad, and Thelirbunad - all bearing slight variations in their respective designs. A woman’s hairstyle and headwear are particularly unique to the Scyfling culture, with flower crowns interwoven by ribbons seen most frequently upon a lady’s head regardless of her social status; though women of higher status may wear crowns produced of precious metals for their weddings. Although this style of fashion and its associated customs are less prevalent in Haense, they have made a strong resurgence due to the House Colborn’s presence within Haeseni society. HANSO-RHENYARI FASHION Influences of Rhenyari fashion can be dated from the reign of the late Amadea of Susa, mother to Koeng Georg I. While the fashion of Ba’as is tailored to a warmer climate, its influences have merged with Haense’s to suit the harsher climate of the north – such as thicker fabrics and linens suited to colder climates and the inclusion of furs. Thus, a new subculture of Haeseni fashion emerges: Hanso-Rhenyari. Coats are fitting to the form and lined with furs, adorned with not only elaborate embroidery but jewels and gemstones as well. While jewelry in menswear is often limited to a wedding band and a simple aurum ring bearing his family’s sigil, the influence of Rhenyari fashion has popularized the expansion of what sorts of jewelry are deemed ‘fashionable’ for men far beyond the aforementioned. HANSO-RUSKAN FASHION Sanguss Gowns are a traditional dress worn by women of all classes; consisting of a Sarafan, a dress shirt or blouse, and (optionally) a belt. These are commonly made with fabrics such as cotton, wool, and linen – with wealthier women (and by extension the more formal variation of the Sanguss gown, the Sanbej) donning gowns made of silk, velvet, and cashmere. They also display elaborate embroidery, most prominently of elements found in nature. Belts are more commonly worn by children, but are not limited to the youth alone. They are seen as fashionable by all as an accessory and used as an accent to the hue of ladies’ gowns. Married women tie their belts to the front-right to indicate such, and unmarried ladies do the same at the front-left. Women who are courting or betrothed tie theirs in the front-center; and children tie their belts in the back. Kokoshniks are a staple accessory for the Ladies belonging to the upper nobility. They are a very thick, glittering variation of the tiara, which are commonly worn by ladies of noble and royal birth. The Kokoshnik is also a sign of piety for these ladies, as told in the legend of the first time one was worn publicly. Veils are a more common accessory, and also a symbol of piety. They are most commonly worn by mothers, wives, and matrons; but are worn by most adult women in situations wherein piety and/or modesty would be highly regarded, such as during a session of Royal Court, debutante balls, weddings, funerals, mass, etc. Shawls are less commonly seen, though still fairly common, worn to add a pop of color to a lady’s outfit while simultaneously providing warmth. Most shawls are lined with hearty furs so that courtiers may brave the cold temperatures of Hanseti-Ruska. HANSO-WALDENIAN FASHION Dirndls are dresses worn by women of all statuses, though like with Sangusses the materials used vary based on their wealth. The Dirndl consists of a blouse, a bodice, a skirt, and an apron. The belts are used similarly to signify marital status as with the Sanguss dresses, with the difference being that children tie their dresses in the center-front, and widows tying theirs in the back. Embroidery, shawls, and other accessories are also commonly seen depending on if the wearer can afford such. These garments are seen as casual, and improper to wear in formal situations. Kampfrau gowns are formal garments, most notable for the ‘slashes’ of patterns decorating the hems and sleeves. An additional garment, the Gollar, is draped over the neck and shoulders. The materials used depend on the lady’s status, and a lady of high status would be encouraged to avoid garments such as cotton due to such being regarded as ‘common.’ Bauschwig gowns are seen amongst only the wealthiest of noblewomen at formal occasions. They are elaborately embroidered and decorated; with the most iconic features of the gown being the high collar, poofy sleeves, open bodice (with straight-lacing), and the “brustfleck”, which is often encrusted with gemstones and embroidered with thread of gold and silver. A variety of headdresses and other headwear are donned, with a brief list including: The Wulsthaube, a headdress consisting of three layers (a veil, an undercap, and a padded cushion to secure the former two layers to the ladies’ head.) The Tellerbarret, a hat that is flat and wide and may be worn atop a Wulsthaube. Decorations such as feathers are most common, though precious gemstones may also be embroidered into the hat itself if the wearer can afford such. The Goldhaube is a headdress reserved for only those of the highest positions within the nobility and royalty; as only Duchesses, Princesses, and Queens are permitted to wear such. The construction of a Goldhaube and the materials needed are costly and elaborate enough that it would be near impossible for someone of a status below the aforementioned to afford one. The threads are made of pure gold, with gemstones oft interwoven into the fabric of the golden garment itself. LOSING REMARKS Fashion has become increasingly fluid with the levels of creativity displayed, and many within the Courts have expressed their admiration regarding such, especially the expression of oneself above all, in lieu of the restrictions of past courtly publications. His Majesty, as well as we within the Morrivi Prikaz Advisory Council, applaud such; and pronounce our sincere and overwhelming approval – with hopes that such trends continue. IV JOVEO MAAN Her Excellency, Viorica Irena Kortreivch, Grand Lady of Hanseti-Ruska Her Ladyship, Laetitia de Rosius d’Abbassia, Member of the Morrivi Prikaz Advisory Council Her Ladyship, Anabel Elia Colborn, Keeper of The Book of House Colborn
  21. EKOVNEN MORRIVI TJASERNARI UKEN VE KRAWN I ROZZ Issued by the QUEEN’S COUNCIL On the 12th day of Joma ag Umund of 449 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK To constantly worry about the upkeep of the Morrivi Prikaz is detrimental to the Courts, therefore it is essential to have enough staff to maintain it without constant micromanaging. It is through this document that we hope to seek out those who are interested in carrying out such tasks. With the beginning of the Reverend Mother Maya’s tenure as Palace Custodian, she decrees an immediate reformation of the positions, duties, payments, and uniforms of the Morrivi Prikaz servants. THE MORRIVI CUSTODIAN THE RIGHT REVEREND, MOTHER MAYA OF VIDAUS VII KUSTOSZ I VE PRIKAZ 444 E.S. - Present | xxxx A.H. - Present Monarch(s): Karl III & Amadea of Susa @milkyi It is the Custodian’s duty to oversee anything concerning the servantry of the Morrivi by delegating specific tasks for each position, such as waiting at feasts, prepping meals in the kitchen, and general upkeep of the Palace, to maintain its pristine condition, as well as ensuring that each member is paid properly and on time. As a member of the Inner Council, they are also tasked to manage the occasions held within the Palace, like feasts and balls. The Custodian is often encouraged to work alongside the Chamberlain to ensure all happenings are run smoothly. AVAILABLE POSTINGS Butlers At every occasion that is held within the Morrivi Prikaz, the butlers must ensure the Royal Household and guests are kept served, well-fed, and filled with wine. Often the butlers work hand-in-hand with the Chefs of the Palace, as they are to dish out the platters that come from within the kitchen at the cook’s behest. The Butler receives a pay of 15 Krawn per task completed. Maids An essential duty of the Maidservant in the Morrivi is to maintain the cleanliness of the establishment by mopping, sweeping, dusting, and making sure each silver platter remains smudge-free. If required, a Maid may also be called upon by the Handmaidens to assist with specific needs of any Lord or Lady found wanting. The Maid receives a pay of 15 Krawn per task completed. Chefs A key position within the Morrivi servantry is that of the chef. They are charged with the upkeep of the Palace’s kitchen, and ensuring the shelves are stocked with ingredients and spices to prepare meals fit for a King. Menus are often organised by the Custodian, while the Chef oversees to guarantee they are capable of following the recipe. But they are afforded the leisure to experiment with recipes of their own. Another duty of the Chef is to direct the Butlers to cater at feasts and replenish the wine barrels. The Chef receives a pay of 15-50 Krawn depending on the quality of the dish/recipe written. Couriers With birds being used more and more for message delivery, courier jobs are becoming less desirable. However, they are most necessary. Birds are not nearly as reliable as men, and risk being shot down to retrieve a message before the recipient receives it. The Courier is tasked with the delivery of letters between the Royal family and those they might converse with. A Courier has to have a strong sense of orientation because longer journeys can necessitate overnight camping. As the timeliness of delivery might be the difference between life and death, wit and sharpness are recommended attributes in such messengers. The Courier receives a pay of 25 Krawn per task completed. IV JOVEO MAAN Her Royal Majesty, AMADEA OF SUSA, Queen-Consort of Hanseti and Ruska, Princess-Consort of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Solvesborg, Slesvik and Ulgaard, Duchess-Consort of Carnatia and Vanaheim, Margravine-Consort of Korstadt, Rothswald and Vasiland, Countess-Consort of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Torun, and Toruv, Viscountess-Consort of Varna, Baroness-Consort of Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, Thurant, Venzia and Astfield, Lady of the Westfolk, Protector of the Highlanders, etcetera. 22. Published by the Crown 9th of Tov ag Yermey, 444 E.S. Lifstala: Debutantes Review Dearest Readers, Moda i ve Kort has served dutifully under the prior rule of Koenas Emma, and shall continue to provide insight on Courtly fashion. Since the rule of Koenas Annika and her efforts to encourage the resurgence of Ruskan wear, the devoted Mistress of the Wardrobe is obliged to continue her service under the household of Koenas Amadea. To build upon legacies and provide regulation of fashion standards is a great honor. Without further ado, we present Moda i ve Kort: The reviewing of this Lifstalas gowns and ladies. ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── Royal Debutantes ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── HSH Analiesa Josefina of the Royal House of Barbanov-Bihar, Princess Royal of Hanseti-Ruska, Duchess of Karosgrad --- Marginally inspired by Rhenyari fashion, the Princess Royal gradually sauntered down the aisle to her mother with a vicious smile. The gown she donned was composed of splendid shapes and vibrant colors which leaves the viewer to assume her extravagant taste. Notable, her veil reflected the depiction of Lady Haense and the Barbanov crown which we must approve of due to its eager length and white hue! Her mother was never the type to inspire pious comportment so we can be delighted that the Princess Royal took after her grandmother. Conversely, upon her head is the Bloodlust’s Diadem, the conventional royal jewel for the debuting Barbanov princess. Overall, it was an alluring fusion of her parental cultures. HIH Octavia Helen of the Royal House of Novellen --- Shrouded in flamboyant mauve and blush hues, the Princess Octavia Helen of the house Novellen paraded in with a muted thump of her heels. We are left confounded on why she is still a Princess for the Imperial House of Novellen was demolished and the designations no longer subsist, could it be a ploy? Nonetheless, the genuine shape of her ensemble was wondrous with lengthy fabric that neared the floor and her red locks tied up in a sleek braid at the back of her head. Strikingly, she bore Anastasia I's bridal kokoshnik and little to no red save for a teeny cape! A shame, for a kingdomless princess, to not bother embracing Lifstala traditions. HRH Persephone Maxima of the Royal House of Novellen --- Her Royal Highness Persephone Maxima was the last of the Royal Debutantes to saunter down the aisle in their respective order. She traveled so far for the prospect of debuting here, in the Morrivi Prikaz, so naturally she went all in. Her clothes emulated the desert flair of Balian with stretching tulle of vermilion hue and a shawl suspended from her shoulders with aurum embellishment near the hems. Over her neckline is a weighter collar of gold with jewels inset into the illustrious piece. Then, on Persephone’s onyx fringe is a gilded Diadem of ruby and sapphire that curled behind either ear to hold the lofty crown to her scalp. ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── Titled Debutantes ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── TRH Emma Henrietta, of the Comital House of Ludovar, Baroness of Juliksberg --- While many girls went in opposite directions, the Ludovar family stayed veridical to the crown and their Barbanov roots. Lady Emma Henrietta, the heir to the County, reminisced of the classical dress shapes under the reign of Queen Annika. The front lacked the depth we were hopeful for; the aberrant button style seemed to be wildly out of place. Even so, the asymmetrical lining of the sleeves sparked interest in the gown, as did the ornate verdant cape she wore. Upon the cape were elaborately embroidered sigils of her house, though one will require to squint harshly in order to discern them. Bearing a fabric kokoshnik composed of deep green and red cloth, opportunely saturated for a woman of her standing. TRH Austina Prudence, of the Baronial House of Aldersberg, Baroness of Aldersberg --- Goodness, the Baroness of Aldersberg, one could say much about her but we rather not give the attention seekers the attention they yearn for. Her dress was reminiscent of common Aldersberg styles with the pale yellow and floral themes found at the hems. Nonetheless, her cape was bright and looked comparatively comfortable to other debutantes' stiff cloaks. Her hair was twisted into formal ringlets with tiny flowers dotted across the champagne curls which accumulated with the Furnestock Tiara which she’d don arrogantly! This of course shocked us, seeing a forign women come to Lifstala and not even follow the etiquette! Shame on her. ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── Mainline Nobility Debutantes ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── HL Annabel Alia of the Ducal House of Baruch --- The first hand-me-down of the season is awarded to Lady Annabel Alia as she begins her walk down the long carpet. Wearing her very own aunt’s debut dress, we wonder if there is any originality in the young lady whatsoever. From the hair to the gown itself, Lady Annabel seems to have a knack for copying. The dress, we saw last social season, is made up of a desaturated heavy wool cape, a tartan sash that overlapped the embroidery on her torso, and a belt of gold strung along her waist to ward the evils of the outside world from her soul. We must appraise her joyous attitude and harmonious behavior before the Queen, for it takes guts to do such. HL Adelajda Ipera of the Ducal House of Ruthern --- The eldest daughter of the Duke of Vidaus was Lady Adelajda Ipera, titled after a famous Ruthern Queen. She strided down the aisle as her name rang out through the courtroom, lightening the air with family honor. She donned a simplistic red gown so one’s attention drifted to her jacket which was of a navy hue lined with rich ermine fur sourced from her uncle Dmitry’s hunting. Atop her her luxuriously styled curls rested a dainty crown belonging to Koenas Elizaveta of Vidaus, made of bright aurum with intricately placed rubies and emeralds, with two hammerhead sharks imprinted into the piece displaying the pride in her house. Her presentation was gracious and well suited for her status. One must congratulate the Duke and Duchess, whom have been in scandal to scandal, on their ability to raise a proper young lady. HL Tatyana Amelya of the Comital House of Ludovar --- Following the theme of her sister, Tatyana Amelya’s garment was composed of a dim crimson fabric with dazzling aurous embellishments nearing the skirts with a panel of white-gold buttons that trailed all the way to the floor. Draped from her right shoulder, implicatively insinuating her single nature, was a stylish blue sash, and on her back followed a dull ebony cape with the Ludovar insignia mended into the fabric. Simultaneously, Tatyana had her hair braided into a crown with blue ribbons like her sash and a stately kokoshnik reposing in the front to consummate the standard lifstala accouterment. A dignified demonstration of her family's influence. HL Esfir Amelya Rose & HL Josefina Theodosya Renée of the Comital House of Kortrevich --- The Hanseni social season is the place where an adolescent lady’s hope is to shine brighter than the rest and to command awe from their peers and the newest Comital family demonstrated their luxurious power with both of the ladies' debuts. Lady Esfir Amelya Rose, the heir to the County, donned profoundly bright colors, leaving us wondering where such vibrancy can be found. Aside from the traditional red, Lady Esfir opted to incorporate yellows, blues, and gold - perhaps every color of the rainbow. The main statement of the lady’s appearance would be that of her accessories. A lovely strand of pearls graced her neck, popping against the more obscure sections of her gown. Atop her head would be a hardened silk board of indigo color, littered with sundry-sized pearls and inset with a rather immense sapphire stone. Chains of gold would sway from the headpiece as she walked alongside her sister. The blue sash which hung from her right shoulder would accommodate as a representation of the lady’s faith and fidelity, following the traditional color symbolism of the courts. Her younger sister, rumored to be an artist, found ways to be just as ingenious as her eldest sister. She culled an immaculate appearance with her extensive brunette hair flowing liberatingly in the otherwise restrained court setting. The dress was of a straightforward red, the color of Lifstala, with an aperture down the center as she didn’t bother to button up which made her appear slightly undignified. Furthermore, the brown bear fur that lined the main dress lightened the mood and gave her a childlike softness in comparison to the rest of the debut dresses. Accompanying the fur was an aurum collar inset with gemstones to designate members of her family. I can only conjecture that the sapphire is for her older sister! HL Mischa Florentina of the Comital House of Lesanov-Falcone --- Colorful, aristocratic, and opulent. Lady Mischa Florentina of the Comital House of Lesanov-Falcone was the pinnacle of foreign beauty. Her braids, the utmost paramount tradition of Lifstala, were orderly and gleamed with health. Her gown was a veridical red with glimmering golden designs. Even her shawl, a warm shade of lush green with draping white covered in floral embellishments, wrapped snugly around her soft shoulders. Yet, humans cannot be impeccable - one may not see it unless they look closely - but Lady Mischa was wearing a half-circlet on the back of her skull! A complete scandal - even for a Ruskan Rose. HL Adelia Calla of the Viscomital House of Darkwood --- Lady Adelia Calla also joined the trend of a monochromatic look, her gown consisting of a clean red color, with a darker, magenta colored sleeve. The sleeves, a unique piece compared to her gown, consisted of mesh fabric which also flowed down in frills. The dress itself bore a deep corset top, with a simple silk skirt, though the proportions of such a gown did not truly enhance the lady’s figure. Another thing to note is that the sash, being the same color as her dress, was hanging from the incorrect shoulder. This could be worrisome for the lady as this could indicate a suitor she already has that we simply do not know of. Accompanied by both her mother and father, Lady Adelia was showing her utmost respect with having both her parents at her side. We certainly found this symbol for love and respect to be a lovely display of the young lady’s character. HL Ada Natalya of the Baronial House of Colborn --- Lady Ada Natalya, heir to Colborn, was unparalleled in her decision of Lifstala debut attire. Instead of a frivolous dress or even pants, she decided on a historic set of armor. This armor belonged to the once Baron of Colborn, Adrian Colborn, and was clearly banged up from fearsome battle. But we couldn’t help but notice how it gleamed in the candlelight of the courtroom which let us know it was clearly well taken care of and polished. Her hair was twisted around dramatically with a large crown of roses weaved in and out of her midnight hued locks. Unsurprisingly, her jaunt towards the dias was self-assured. We dub her: Ada ‘The Dauntless’ Conborn. HL Manon Yvaine of the Baronial House of Ashford de Falstaff, the Star-Lord, the Ghost of Guise, the Grand Auri of the Gardens --- One of the once four de Falstaff girls remained long enough in the cold Hanseni climate to last through their debutantes - and did not disappoint dear reader! No, in fact, she found creative ways to not only respect Ruskan styles but to embrace them in their strange de Falstaff ways. Lady Manon wore something unique if not more traditional then the other ladies, interweaving her own personal flair into her burgundy ruskan apparel. Her piercing blue eyes were hidden by a pair of tinted spectacles, an unusual accessory that we have not yet seen introduced into the season's presentations, mechanical butterflies made of pure gold gracefully flapping their wings as she began her lackluster stroll down the aisle. To see a woman of Orenian descent so readily embrace the culture of her newfound nation is a heartwarming thing, Lady Manon having clearly brushed up on her history! Unlike her sister, she did not make any attempt to steal the spotlight from those who readily deserve it, deciding to wear her hair natural and free without the confines of a veil. HL Aviana of the Baronial House of von Draco --- Lady Aviana wore an extremely simple gown to the presentations, with a dull red fabric enveloping her form - a simple white shrug reposing over her shoulders. The lady herself is rather comely, but I find it a great disappointment she did not take her design just an inch further. Perhaps she could have integrated some more gold embroidery. A gold hairpin, in lieu of silver? Ermine furs, instead of what appeared to be the coat of a wolf. The von Draco herself held an impressive air of confidence, posture straightened and chin inclined in a gesture of self-assurance. I was simply left wanting more! HL Aobh & HL Alruna of the Baronial House of Black'hil --- Lady Aobh surely is magical with her sudden appearance in the Hanseni courts just in time for the Lifstala season! Her dress was mysteriously Ruskan which makes me inquire about her family's history, having never aurally perceived them before. Plentiful magnitudes of polar bear fur coated her collar bone with an emerald necklace of exquisite size in the center which matches the one found on her embroidered kokoshnik. The authentic ensemble is of a warmer red with embellishments of miniature flowers that must have taken months to sew onto the fabric which accompanies the bronze upon her hem, waist, and down the front of the dress. Conclusively, draping from her back is a deep blue cloak affixed to the polar bear fur in the front with her family heirloom crown upon her head. The last debut of the first day shocked the court, Lady Alruna, who appeared as if she was a half-elf jaunted into the court proudly next to her sister! Not to even mention her shawl was maroon at best and her authentic garment was a muddied purple hue. She missed the mark with the color red being the focal point of Lifstala presentations. After all of this, I have to verbalize that at least she spoke with good poise and her hair was nicely braided. ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── Non-Mainline Nobility Debutantes ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── HL Niamh Ainsley & HL Mairi Sofiya of the Ducal House of Baruch --- Two of my grandchildren had the delectation of debuting, but I shall be fair as always in my reviews of their presentations. Baruch has a vast history, culture, and language that must all be addressed to congruously portray themselves when they debut in front of the queen. When one is authentically educated, one can discern the sparkling distinction between these girls compared to others. The eldest of the dyad was Lady Mairi who donned traditional tartan proudly. Her presentation blares of ruby material, but haplessly, fate had other opinions. She connected to and portrayed her culture with pride with the deep red tartan that was laced with pink, black, and if you squint even bits of green! And everyone knows that tartan IS Baruch’s fashion - no one else's. The corset that encompassed her waist was of a burgundy hue and around her sleeves billowed out what looked like fluffy clouds - but we know better - it is simply stunning lacework! Her promenade down the aisle was natural for the first debut of the day, reminding me much of my elegance at her age. Her sister, Lady Niamh wore a lovely gown, but I had the displeasure of learning that this presentation gown was not as special as it was supposed to be. Many courtiers commenced whispering throughout the young madam's debut that she had been wearing this gown for months, and it virtually seemed as if it became a daily occurrence for her! Typically, the women participating in the lifstala season will tailor a unique dress concretely for their presentation walk, and it was very disheartening to see Lady Baruch falter in such a way. She wore an impeccably fine gown of crimson, with pops of green slanting downwards from her waist - her bust ceasing short, with her skin modestly covered by a layer of white silk. I only wished she had preserved the gown for the value of only wearing it at Lifstala. HL Maya Ekaterina, Lady Custodian & HL Franziska Josefine of the Ducal House of Ruthern --- Ruthern girls are infamous for their vigorous personalities, wit, and fearsome grace. Many have made pertinent reforms for the kingdom and wrought strenuously for their positions. These two are no different. When debuting they both walked with sophistication higher than any lady afore, we could verbally express they were better than the Princess Royal herself! Lady Maya Ekaterina, known for her affrighting lack of eyebrows, seemed to sprout them right in time for her debut, though it was not precisely hair that was set atop her brow, but rather a miscolored pencil that seemed to be several shades too light for the lady. Her dress and apron were representatives of her poorer upbringing with sumptuous hand-sewn embroidery along the otherwise achromic mock. The embroiderment was reportedly done by her mother, Bishop Maya, and depicts the saints which speak to the pious nature of the Ruthern adolescence. To enhance her standing, she wore an immense kokoshnik-styled headband that wrapped around her pudgy cheeks with elegant aurum flourishes along with a heftily ponderous golden necklace that held an uncut sapphire within the center. Lady Franziska wore a similar ensemble to match her cousin, but it was just as exceptional. Her overcoat was an effulgent red with dark furs lining the hems with a cerulean top underneath. Her apron was less exhilarating than her cousin but still exemplified exceptional craftsmanship with miniature roses and billowing lines of embroiderment. The skirt was the centerpiece of her gown with stripes of brightly colored fabric sewn together. Her head bore a scarlet kokoshnik with aurum flourishes and blue beads lining the bottom with a pearly veil covering her hair. What’s more, her intricate answer to the Princess Royal’s question sparked much interest in this debut! Her words flowed poetically like a sweet tune. HL Anne Marie of the Comital House of Kaphro --- Lady Anne Marie sauntered as mute as a mouse down the aisle towards the Queen and her companions. Her garment was modest, preserve for the slit down the fabric which revealed the lady’s bare leg! It was clear that those upon the dais did not find the lady’s dress appealing in any way, as they commenced their verbal assault with much haste. The burgundy color of the dress was composed of exceptional quality, matching the dark auburn color of her hair. Placed upon the lady’s feet would be that of snow-colored flats, the velvet fabric shimmering under the candlelight. Her debut ended with her being removed from the courtroom by Ser Walton - luckily the Princess Royal was not given the chance to slap her for she threatened such. HL Anabel Elisa & HL Elia Eryka of the Baronial House of Colborn --- The first day of debuts surprised us with the heir to Colborn dressed in armor, but the second day left us just as exhilarated. Both are heavily bejeweled in their heirlooms to express their affluence and accomplishments. For those who are incognizant, Colborn heirs are chosen not by bloodline but by cultivated achievements so none lack initiative for any could be made heir! We are delectated to admit it is an ingenious system. Taking the saying, “a burning heart” to be veritable, Elia Eryka exhibited a dress that was designated to represent her house’s motto, “family through fire”, the flames embroidered into the fabric representative of this. As is traditional for the historical schyfling house, the dress paid homage to the lady’s roots with an overcoat and Kaedreni-styled embroidery. Atop the young woman's head would be a delicate braid, interwoven with a golden band that was embellished with emeralds of yore. Spinel earrings graced her auditory perceivers as they once did Queen Annabelle Helvets. Perhaps as an ode to our beloved Koenas-Mamej, Elia wore a golden crispin on the back of her head, along with golden armbands which hail from our druid allies. This lady is certainly taking the liberation of gold to its fullest extent. Unlike Elia walking in juxtaposition to her, Lady Anabel Elisa seemed to not precisely know what was going on, much akin to her dress. Albeit the dress itself has a lovely array of colors, the placement of the gold embroidery seemed to simply not fit the style. Upon the left shoulder of Lady Anabel was what we would surmise to be a white mink fur throw. Intricately golden netting would be embroidered onto the neckline and sleeves of the dress in an effort to maintain the lady’s modesty, though we did perceive some skin peeking through the netting beneath the candlelight! ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── Commoner House Debutantes ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───── Miss Ilaria of House Amador --- The charming Miss Ilaria meandered down the red carpet with poise and a radiant grace, though she donned categorically dark colors. Her gown was characterized by its ebony hue and red accents upon the sleeves. A white silken underdress integrated remotely of airiness to the gown, flowing betwixt her footfalls as she curtsied with natural grace. Complimenting the dark hues of her dress, she adorned her collarbone with a chain of darkened aurum. Most eminently, however, she donned a cloth kokoshnik matching the red hue on her sleeves. Miss Anastasia of House Anarion --- The faux Princess, Anastasia Anarion, debuted with a trail of wild animals, musical composition, and fireworks! It was an authentically peculiar sight. Her gown felt straight out of a jungle with wild roses embroidered all over the silk fabrics that trailed effortlessly abaft her. Upon the crown of her head was a gorgeous and delicate tiara composed of gold and sapphires. She felt like a fairy tale, to say the least. The only haplessness is her elfen descendants! As we all know, the Church has heavily outlawed elf and human espousements, children, etc. Poor Anastasia will find it troublesome to get an elven husband in a court filled with humans! Miss Emerentia of House Othaman --- Miss Emerentia performed a rather hasty walk down the aisle, but despite her pace, she still managed to maintain a sense of dignity. Perhaps remotely too idealized, conspicuously, the Othaman girl had practiced this ritual ten times over, her curtsey, however, was untidy. She donned a dull brick-colored smock, cinched in her middle with a corset with an array of aurum buttons. A corset that one can conspicuously visually perceive was afforded by her family’s Orenian lineage. To put it plainly, her gown was nothing short of minimalistic, but that isn’t compulsorily a lamentable thing with the array of intricate dresses we’ve visually perceived thus far - a refreshing optical discernment for very sore ocular perceivers. Her hair was tossed abaft her shoulders and bound with an unexciting plait but was complemented with a bushel of roses tucked abaft her auditory perceiver. Miss Raewyn of House Winter --- Miss Raewyn donned a simplistic dress with a rose hue commonly seen in inexpensive red dyes. Around the elegant woman's shoulders is a tanned fur pinned with a charming aurum brooch. Her sleeves clasped around her wrists and her skirt flowed to the court's floor, flowering like a blooming tulip against the rough ground. Primarily, she was a delicate example of a mundane woman debuting with little to no etiquette but the charm of a farmer's daughter. Miss Viorica Barrow --- Miss Viorica Barrow decided on a rather peculiar dress with sleeves reminiscent of her late mother’s Woldskyevan style, Lady Sorina. The dress was layered in frills of red fabrics with an immensely colossal strap holding up the rather dense textiles. Upon the bottom and lightest skirt are flourishes of a pink embroiderment making a swirling shape reminiscent of wind permeating the breeze. Her blouse and billowing sleeves follow the same pattern with the embroidering and atop her head reposes an ostentatious crown of flowers which teeters on the line of a kokoshnik which one must raise a brow to… considering her bastardy. Signed, HER ROYAL MAJESTY, Amadea of Susa, Queen-consort of Hanseti and Ruska, Princess-consort of Bihar, Dules, Lahy, Muldav, Solvesborg, Slesvik and Ulgaard, Duchess-consort of Carnatia and Vanaheim, Margravine-consort of Korstadt, Rothswald and Vasiland, Countess-consort of Alban, Alimar, Baranya, Graiswald, Karikhov, Karovia, Kaunas, Kavat, Kovachgrad, Kvasz, Markev, Nenzing, Torun, and Toruv, Viscountess-consort of Varna, Baroness-consort of Esenstadt, Kraken’s Watch, Kralta, Krepost, Lorentz, Rytsburg, Thurant, Venzia and Astfield, Lady of the Westfolk, Protector of the Highlanders, etcetera. 24. HANDMAIDENS IN NOBILITY, A GUIDELINE UKEN VE KRAWN I ROZZ Issued by the PRINCESS ROYAL On the 12th day of Joma and Umund of 443 E.S. VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG EDLERVIK Handmaidens have long served the Haeseni Queens and Princesses of yore, though such specifications regarding these handmaidens and who may be granted the privilege of taking one have yet to be established. Thus, the Princess Royal deems it fit to outline the duties and responsibilities of said handmaidens as well as instate proper guidelines on taking handmaidens, so that there is no room for error within the Royal Courts. I. THOSE ENTITLED TO HANDMAIDENS Having the privilege of a handmaiden is one such thing many ladies of the courts grasp for, for having a woman pledge her life in service to you is seen as a most envious thing. The more ladies in waiting that you possess, the more prestigious you are viewed, such is why multiple handmaidens are bestowed to those with a higher standing within the nobility. To be a handmaiden beneath the crown is a most coveted position, with higher standards and expectations placed upon their behaviour and public position, especially if a lady has been granted the honour and privilege of serving beneath the Queen, who is able to take an unlimited amount of handmaidens. Princesses are entitled to three handmaidens, while the Princess Royal is entitled to four. Serving beneath both the Queen and the Princess Royal is a most prestigious place to find oneself working, and should be something that all noblewomen strive for. The consorts and female titleholders of nobility are allowed to take upwards of two ladies-in-waiting, whilst their firstborn daughters may only swear one into service. Women who do not possess parentage of a titled peer are not allowed to take a handmaiden into servitude whatsoever, lest they bend the rules of etiquette and bring shame upon their family name and house. II. WHO MAY BECOME A HANDMAIDEN All women born into nobility are capable of becoming a handmaiden, but in order to serve, they must first be of a lower social standing than the lady who seeks to swear them into servitude. For example, the Princesses of the Kingdom may select any three members of the peerage to act as her handmaidens, whereas the firstborn daughter of a comital lord may only select two daughters of either a baronial or common background. Those outside of the noble classes are capable of being selected as handmaidens, but they must first possess a noble or royal sponsor to corroborate their dedication and well-being in terms of health and personality. Typically, those who are chosen to be the handmaiden of a noblewoman are those who, in the eyes of the lady, have already proven themselves to be reliable, trustworthy, and decent. Handmaidens may also be sought out elsewhere, however, if there is a distinct lack of options within the peerage. III. THE DUTIES OF A HANDMAIDEN A handmaiden is expected to tend to their lady with an attentive and kind disposition, heeding their calls with a willingness to aid their counterpart. Not only must she be willing to lend a helping hand to her lady, but she must also be willing to lend her ear in the most trying of times. Simply put, a handmaiden must emanate loyalty in everything she does. After all, it is a position that, once obtained, is held for life lest the handmaiden obtains a higher station than that of the lady they are serving. Alongside the emotional support that handmaidens are expected to lend their ladies, ladies-in-waiting are expected to help their patrons dress for courtly events, apply their makeup, put their jewellery on, and so on and so forth. They might also deliver messages and pick out their wardrobe. Anything the patron requests of her benefactor, the handmaiden must oblige. IV. THE PRIVILEGES OF A HANDMAIDEN To be selected as a handmaiden for a woman of nobility is a privilege in and of itself, but with this station comes a plethora of boons and additional stations. Should the patron of the hand maiden require more consistent companionship and service from her lady, the patron may provide a living arrangement for the maiden. These living arrangements must be suitable to the maiden’s rank within the kingdom, befitting that of their place within society. As such, the maiden will be able to better consistently assist their patron, strengthening their bond and ensuring proper upstanding assistance. Being handmaiden to a lady gives the maiden a higher standing in society. The honour of such a position brings the maiden up to be more revered in the community and in a sense, the maiden will act as an extension as their patron, representing their honour and esteem. Should someone insult the handmaiden, this would extend to insulting the honour of the patron which can result in a severe offence, should the maiden be higher in station. Being a handmaiden comes with higher station, as does the respect which is expected of others towards them, especially if the lady is a royal handmaiden. The patron of the lady will help with many aspects of life as does the maiden in return for her service. The patron may work to help find the maiden a suitable husband, advocate for their maiden’s character, provide clothing as well as put forth their recommendation for their ladies in matters of courtly appointments. The relationship between a handmaiden and a patron is that of mutual benefit as their companionship grows. Of course, a suitable uniform must be provided for those who wish to serve their patrons in a manner befitting of their status. Should a lady be granted the honour of tending to a patron, they will be granted a dress or brooch to wear for the purpose of demonstrating the honour they’ve earned themselves by serving as a handmaiden within the Royal Courts. The higher the status of their patron, the higher the quality of dress they will be granted. Such is not policed, and is up to the discretion of the patron whether they wish to commit to such a statement. V. THE DISMISSAL OF A HANDMAIDEN The position of handmaiden is seen as one duty which will be lifelong. There is no ability to leave the service of their patron and only will a lady be able to leave service should they be dismissed, causing scandal and dishonour upon the lady, or in the unlikely event that the lady will marry above her patron’s station. As the position of handmaiden is a highly exclusive and coveted title, any dismissal from service is considered a scandal and a stain upon the lady who has been dismissed. Loyalty, trust and respect are the main standards for such a position and should these be broken, the patron may see fit to dismiss their hand maiden. Due to being a representation of their patron’s honour, any crime committed by the lady shall be grounds for immediate dismissal. Should the slight unto the patron be taken to an extreme extent, it is customary for their patron to make public the betrayal upon them, in order to warn any future employer of possible dissent. SIGNED, Her Serene Highness, Analiesa Josefina Barbanov-Bihar Princess Royal of Hanseti-Ruska, Duchess of Karosgrad Her Ladyship, Adelajda Ipera vas Ruthern Handmaiden to Her Serene Highness, the Princess Royal Firress Viorica Irena Barrow Servant to Her Serene Highness, the Princess Royal

THE MASQUERADE OF LOVE A masked evening to shed your own skin, in favour of layers of silk and pearl. The Morrivi ballroom will be transformed into a hazy candlelit dance, where every man and woman shall have their identities hidden throughout the night, masquerading as who they please, donning colours specific to their reason of attendance. The Queen’s Council will delegate an array of servants to assign those in attendance pseudonyms and noble status at the door. For a single night, a lady might just swindle a Prince, but it is only at the end where identities might reveal themselves. (OOC: Friday, 23rd September, 6pm EST) --- OFFICIAL SCHEDULE OF LIFSTALA THE PRESENTATION DAY ONE In accordance with tradition, the presentation of the debuting men and women of Lifstala will mark the official commencement of the Season. Escorts, be they a patriarch, brother, or father, are advised to be in attendance with their relative once called upon before the Crown. Within two Saint’s Days of the presentation, the men shall be called forth individually by the Queen and her Grand Lord within the Trelka hippodrome. (OOC: Monday, 26th September, 4pm EST) HOUSE CALLS Prior to the competitions of the season, those lords and ladies who wish to entertain prospective suitors may host house calls to do so. They are to do this soon after the presentations come to an end to assure the best possible matches. These house calls shall take place in the respective keeps of the Dual-Monarchy, where each suitor is invited to knock upon the door of the family home of the lord or lady they seek to court. Should one of the gentry, foreign entities, or even the peasantry seek to partake, they are invited to make use of either a household within Karosgrad or the Morrivi ward apartments. Those who attend a house call and prove a promising match may find themselves paired in future coupling events throughout the Lifstala. (OOC: Tuesday, 27th September, All Day) A LOVER’S CHASE As night falls, those partaking in the Lifstala are invited to a game of the Hound and Hare; a chase through the Nikirala gardens and the woods surrounding Karosgrad. The ladies are to arrange themselves into a line, and on the sounding of the horn they shall race throughout the grounds as our hares. The men will remain behind until the second sounding of the horn, when they are to give chase to the hare they desire. Should a hound catch a hare, she may offer her favour for a stroll about the gardens. Should she refuse his advances, the hound shall go back to the chase until he finds a hare who finds him more pleasing. JULIA’S COMPANIONS In accordance with Lifstala tradition, a celebration of St. Julia shall be held. For those too intimidated by the prospect of the housecall, an environment to ease the otherwise troublesome soul shall be fostered. Within the gardens of the capital of the Kingdom, the prospective suitors and debutantes shall gather about the gazebo within. A quiz of compatibility will be distributed to all those gathered, and under the watchful eyes of the chaperones present pair shall be formed and encouraged to promenade through the grounds. As the clock strikes each quarter-hour, pairs will be rotated, and the process shall repeat. (OOC: Thursday, 29th September, 6pm EST) THE DUAL DEBUT As the firstborn daughters of both the Duke of Vidaus and Countess of Otistadt have found themselves of age, their two Houses have seen fit to debut the pair together. All prospective suitors are invited to the holdings of His Excellency at the Morivvi Prikaz, where the two ladies shall split the ballroom and host two debuts, with two unique themes. Lady Adelajda has chosen to honour the past of her House with a ‘reaver,’ theme, as the men of House Ruthern were once feared marauders of the coast. She asks that any who attend her debut dress in the hides, furs and armour befitting the rugged northern adventurers of yore. Guests are encouraged to partake in traditional clam diving as well as a hunt for buried treasure. Lastly, His Excellency wishes to make known that any man seeking the first dance with Lady Adelajda must duel his competition and emerge victorious. The Lady Ludovar has selected a more personal theme, this being the ‘fae wilds.’ Those attending her debut are to drape themselves in the colours of the northern forests, such as dark greens and deep browns. Spectacles of magic may be seen on her half of the ballroom, performed by foreign sorcerers and one of our own who claims the foresight of an Oracle. (OOC: Friday, 30th September, 5pm EST) AN EVE OF CONSTELLATIONS With Her Serene Highness having turned of age, it is customary for her to debut into society before the eyes of the courtiers and citizenry alike. As such, the nobility of Haense are invited to an evening beneath the stars atop the Morrivi Prikaz. The theme for the Princess Royal's debut is ‘constellations’, also known as ‘star-signs’, or ‘zodiacs’. The zodiac signs of both Ruskan and Rhenyari culture will be integrated within the ball, to honour both her father and mothers culture. Those in attendance are encouraged to don attire representing their zodiac sign in either respective culture. (OOC: Saturday, 1st October,, 4pm EST) THE HUNT OF THE BOGATYR The men of the season are to assemble in Hallasberg, seat of the most chivalrous Order of the Crow. Once blessed in the chapel, the party is to seek out and slay the vile beast of the Haeseni woods under the watch of a seasoned hunter. As their suitors are armed and armoured, the maidens of the kingdom are to gather in the Morrivi. They are to craft favours and trinkets, to be carried into the wilds as boons of luck and good fortune. (OOC: Sunday, 2nd October, 4pm EST) KOENAS OF THE KRAWN As the commoner population of ve Lifstala increases in size, a new day to celebrate the less fortunate participating shall be added to the calendar. The participant who receives a slice with a crown hidden within will be declared the Koenas, or Koeng of the Krawn. (OOC: Wednesday, 5th October, 5pm EST) PAIRED PORTRAITURE A night dedicated to the arts shall be held during the season to serve as a casual and intimate atmosphere for those partaking. Each shall be paired with another with whom they are to capture one another’s likeness, engaging in conversation, while walking away with multiple portraits in hand. Depending on the time and the number of participants, several rounds will be held and partners rotated with each. (OOC: Thursday, 6th October, 6pm EST) THE MAIDENTILT As the men of the season have had many an opportunity to prove themselves in the kingdom’s tourneys, it is only fair that so too do our beloved maidens. In the Maidentilt, a suitor and a lady share the same horse, with the lord taking the reins and the woman holding the lance. These couples shall face one another in a tournament of jousting, engaging in three tilts per bout. They who strike their opponents the most, or knock them from their horse, win.
