  2. The Death and Life of Linette Sola Linette was a kind soul, she grew up without her parents but was taken in by those who cared. Growing up she always enjoyed reading various stories and looking at maps, so much so that at age 18 she set off with her dearest friend Eloisee Veiel von Minitz (previously Rohesia) to explore the world. After just a year of travelling, at age 19 Linette settled down in the Margraviate of Velen after seeing a paper about the place and meeting former Margravine Guinevere Lucia. Despite having settled down, her adventurous heart still called, and so she let it lead. She often frequented places such as the Duchy of Minitz, the Duchy of Adria, Hayhollow By-Water, and the Kingdom of Norland. Some notable friends she made along this journey are Myrios Veiel, Axel Veiel, Doderic Dengalberry, Marione Clovet, Duchess Henriette Barclay, and various other lovely acquaintances around the world. She loved to talk about all the people she held dear and met along her adventures, even to the extent of keeping a signature book for anyone she met or those she wanted to sign. Linette never found romantical love, but she watched as people around her did. She often longed for more, but rarely let that show to anyone. Later in her life she joined the Black Dawn Hunter's Association in Hyspia, where she hoped she would find the missing piece of her life. Unfortunately, shortly after joining this association is when she died. While spending the day in the Duchy of Minitz, she fell off a bridge into the river near the entrance. It is suspected her foot got caught and she couldn't swim to the surface, and this is how she perished, though since nobody truly saw her die, there is uncertainty of what events actually took place. Some suspect foul play due to varying unreleased factors, so it is unclear what truly happened. Linette will be remembered by her best friend Eloisee Veiel von Minitz, along with many other friends she has made along the way in the journey of life. Linette Sola's Will states that her belongings shall go to Herald Eloisee Veiel von Minitz, and whomever Eloisee sees fit. (OOC - A funeral will soon be held for Linette in the Margraviate of Velen, details to come.) (OOC - Attached is a photograph of Linette and Eloisee)

  5. I'm the first to say that I have little to no experience on this topic as I'm a new player on the server and a brand new halfling (as of a few days ago), but the fact that (from what I've read) activity checks like this could greatly discourage new and old players from playing anywhere at all seems to me like it's a bad move in general. I don't know the ins and outs of this server or community, not even close, but I'm sure there is a better solution. The only one that comes to mind currently is polling different communities for how active they are and their player base, although I'm not sure if that would work well or not. As others have said, it's sad to see great roleplayers feel burnt out for something that is meant to be good wholesome fun. (I realize much of what I typed has already been stated, but I felt compelled to add another comment under this perhaps in the chance that staff might be more swayed.)

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) Stepping away from the older woman, Linette responds "I was just passing through, I don't mean any harm." Keeping her hand near her dagger, her eyes gaze around at the inside of tent, looking for every possible exit. "I really must go.." she says cautiously, trying not to upset the woman. "But if you insist on me telling my story.. then I suppose I must oblige." She tells the woman about her previous travels, her childhood growing up in a big city, her training to be a knight, and an encounter that may have been her last. When finished, she sighed and spoke once more, "I intend to keep travelling, but maybe one day I'll settle down in a nice little town with some friends I've met along the way."
