  1. name a single scenario where d20ing someone the right thing to do. i don't want to hear "they were bad faith," because if you're d20ing them, you're not any better.

    all this is to say, pls get rid of d20ing

      Sorry I can't hear you over the sound of my 20 soulbind tokens

      People soulbind their ENTIRE inventories. Like even items which have zero roleplay value. I've seen people with 10+ soulbinds at one time. Like what are we doing? I personally PK on first death for all of my characters, because I like the stakes and I like the thrill. If other people don't, that's... fine... but LOTC exists in a world which is meant to have violence, bloodshed, and evil. There has to be some consequence to death because as it stands people just show no fear in combat whatsoever because they have no risk if they die.

      My experience with conflict on LotC has made me quite centric toward d20ing people out of the principle that if they are bad faith, a punishment or consequence will make them more hospitable the next time. I found this to be true, multiple times.
      (Which is why I keep doing it.)

      My thought-process is;

      -Have they acted out of bad faith?
      -Have they returned from monk-revival constantly?
      -Did they refuse to accept /heads request?

      -Do they have an entire inventory full of soulbinds?

      Unfortunately, like Unwillingly mentioned, there is no consequence to character death. So I tend to remind people that there are consequences. If it comes to the event that the player roleplays their character smugly, unafraid of the consequence of death (because of their soulbinds etc) i d20 them. They lose it all. Because players who do NOT PK, and consistently avoid roleplay consequences for their own OOC bias, need to feel the consequence OOCly. So it gets to their heads.
      At the end of the day the items are simply pixels, however. They're not your pixels. They're your characters. If you sob over them and start crying over a d20, regretting the risk, more-than-likely so would your character. And people forget to consider that.

      I used to be a shitter though, and forced druids / other players to give me their soulbounded items via the threat of D20. Alot of people do not d20 others for their items. They do it out of principle, and that IMO is the peak of LotC culture. :)
