  1. Could we have a meter and daily needed funds shown on front page please? On tera nova they have a long term funds collected for better software and equipment, and a monthly upkeep meter showing the comunity that their server is and will be alive next month.

Not seeing these meters except on that link isnt helping the cause. Availer click this

I'm 32 and this game is an escape I play to relax and unwind. Alittle transparency with such a large server community is required unless you are footing the bill yourself. But this isnt the case, show us the money! And not in a twitch link .... playing league of legends. wtf? How is this showcasing Lotc?

If I wanted to watch lets play I'd be in youtube. *lets out a big sigh .

When I see a meter and something in stone I'll assist the server the best I can but right now I'm reluctant to send my earned money when all I have to go off of is a meter on another website.

Not be an idiot but, I have nothing to do with the money so don't but the blame on me concerning where the money goes. You really don't understand the reason why we're raising $400 specifically for the anti-ddos as an emergency and for that reason we have done a 24 hour livestream. You cant have LoTC for 24 hours on the stream.

It seems that you still hold the misconception that money was stolen yada yada and would still like to bring that up even though things have been cleared. Server has been alive the past month because we paid from our pockets, we don't like to flaunt it but that's what's happened.

Hello there everybody. I'm sure you are all aware of the DDoS issues that we've been having lately. We've exhausted most of our techniques to fight the DDoS attack, with Vaquxine our lead Technical Developer and Programmer working very hard to negate the attacks. However, we're facing a DDoS attack that's too strong and well protected to simply disarm via software. We're running on an expensive Dedicated Server on the Limestone networks that costs around $1,000 a month to run. A lot of the bandwidth we have to pay for is DDoS bandwidth and it's costing us and the community dearly. We can't simply allow the server to stay down, it's not fair for our donators, it's not fair for our community and it's not fair for all staff members who have spent hours labouring on LoTC.

There's one way to negate this attack and it's to rent a hardware modification that will filter the DDoS. At the current speeds, we will need a DDoS filter that costs exactly $400 for one month that will negate 1GB/s of DDoS traffic. At worst the server will go down for 10 seconds and come back up again if we are hit hard by a DDoS.

For that reason we're doing a Livestream Community Fundraiser. Members of staff will be taking it turns to entertain our community through exploring Asulon, searching through our amazing forums and reading your incredible posts, playing online games together or simply answering some of your questions. So we ask you to support us! Even if it's just by watching the stream and taking part! We hope to run the stream for 24 hours starting 12AM GMT +1.

    24hours.png

So check out our Livestream in the embedded video above OR you can visit us on

    www.twitch.tv/thelordofthecraft.

These donations will work to increase your VIP rank or give you VIP if you don't have it. So make sure to make an in-game Modrequest after your donation. For more information on our donation packages check our donation page linked above.

If you have any questions feel free to message the staff on the Livestream or come and meet us on Teamspeak!

  3. Ignore the attacks. Donate on a casual level as we have all along. Let them blow all of their daddy's precious money on DDOS attacks. When the server goes down, stimulate role-play and discussion on the forums, write lore, improve the Wiki. Get out and get some fresh air. Show them that we will enjoy ourselves regardless. Show them that their attacks mean nothing to us. Put them in their place like the dog they are and show them that we will carry on without them.

Make 3:00 PM onward be the most miserable hours they will ever face, investing so much of their time, energy and money towards a lonely and pitiful act that will be met with nothing but the laughter, comradery and indifference of the very community they despise.

If we negotiate, they win. If we exhaust our funds, they win. If we become divided in our allegiances and blinded in our perception of the matter at hand, they win. We've maintained hundreds of supporters for a year now and they're all alone. Let's just do what we do. Disregard them and work around it. $200-$4,000 a month? No. $50,000? No. Too rich for my blood. We don't negotiate with terrorists. Endure it until they peter out.

I'm retired and have too little at stake here to make a truly sound and unbiased judgment, but there's my rant.

P.S. If that doesn't work, I have a wealthy uncle in Uganda that just passed away, leaving me his estate. I'll see what I can do.

That's all nice and dandy when you say it like that. But ignoring DDoS, ok. Writing lore? For what? There won't be a server online for you too write lore for. DDoSing isn't a full-time job, it's an easy thing to do and keep consistent until a community dies. There's no disagreement that they are "dogs" but pretending it's not affecting us is simply silly. It is affecting us, it's affecting the donations we get as well, we've not had enough money to pay for this months hosting because of the lack of donations and the player count is a lot less than usual. We don't have many players coming in either.

If the DDoS continues at this rate without fixing it, we don't know what will happen to LoTC.

  4. Thanks for your suggestion. But Vaquxine is a very very capable software engineer.

    - The server is hosted on a proffesional dedicated server that is costing overall almost $1,000 a month.

    - We have tried absolutely every single form of mitigation.

    - This is not a simple DDoS attack. The DDoSers are using Severs not botnets, they've spoofed the ips and nullrout our connection at 100mb/s, they then spike it to 6gb/s for a few seconds to take the servers down. They're behind proxies and of course, we've contacted the authorities. These servers are also most likely USA based servers. Blocking IPs wont work.

Just to answer a few question. We've exhausted every software based fix possible.

  5. To answer some questions, a good video recorder would be Fraps.

You can use any footage on the competition video and if you are using footage from other videos you must get permission from the producer.

You can use any royalty free music, we are not limited in that regards.

You can do whatever you want with the prize money.

    Hope that clears it up!

  6. This isn't a thread to discuss whether or not your happy with your donation perks. You can always write an articulate and elaborate thread in the support and feedback forum. As a reply to what you said, I hope you donated for the community not for Minas, just as staff members have donated thousands of hours of their time for the community.

  7. Good evenin' ladies, gentlemen, gentleboys and ladygirls. We've got a great competition for our community today. A Youtube Video Review competition.

  8. I don't understand why players think it's ok to criticize the choices the development team makes to such a ridicilious level. We have created an amazing RP experience so far and it's only been improving. Why not trust the development team and allow them to continue development or discuss things in a civil and educated manner. Furthermore, you are very fortunate to have the ability to discuss issues with the GM team and the development and have a say in the development of this incredible world. It's unacceptable that you speak to these hard working people who are creating an experience free of charge and are spending hours working and developing this world in such a disrespectful manner. Playing here is a PRIVELAGE not a RIGHT and it can be revoked at any time.

  9. Your very poorly informed on Donation perks. Bedrock donators do not get mining until bedrock across the world. They get an extra 10 coords in the y-axis like other donators which they deserve as this is a ship that needs to float.

For those saying the skill system is horrible RP I really suggest you read older threads and articles about the importance of the skill system in building an RP enviroment, creating community and making people more reliant on each other. Less Mary Sues, more struggle and a lot better richer RP for that reason.

  10. Pay to win-In other words, a new member can waltz in and shove some money about and boom. All sorts of things are available to him because he has the privilege to put his money into the game.

What would be available to him? The ability to have access to 20 or 30 more skill points from the pool of 275. Bearing in mind that the maximum any skill can become using skill points is 30, therefore he can not get over 30 in any skill regardless, it's no real advantage, just a small perk which he deserves for sacrificing money to keep this community going.

I'm not saying that the donator perks idea is bad. But I already have issue with a number of things with it, chief among them being that a community that boasts being totally strict rp should not endorse ooc means of character devlopment or advancement (ie giving them the Lord title, or affording them a huge plot of land just for paying some money.

OOC Character Development is the primary means of how a character develops. You develop your character before you enter the world, you think about what you do OOC, not everything you do is integrated in-game. Furthermore, Lordship titles are given through RP and can be revoked at any moment. The plots of lands aren't huge and it's not JUST for PAYING SOME MONEY, it's a huge donation that is really needed by the community. If it's just paying some money why don't you donate?

My hugest issue, and this is both with the skill points suggestion and even without it, is that so many of the so-called "perks" of becoming a donator totally and utterly separates somebody who doesn't donate from the donator. If I had my way the only perks to becoming a donator would be a nice colored name and some minas. Everything else is unfair because alot of it is unattainable through normal rp means, which means that it is in itself an OOC assertion of not only value but also total denial of rp in general.

Of course it will separate them, but theyre relatively harmless perks and you can easily get access to all donator perks in-game through RP interaction, there is nothing YOU CAN NOT GET except the coloured name.

From what I understand I have to pay you real money to open a shop in character? That is utterly absurd! This is an rp community. Any character should be able to pay their city a certain amount of minas a month to maintain their shop.

Donators are given the ability to create AUTOMATIC shops which are not part of RP in the first place and for that reason we don't want many of them littering our world. It's better that most of the trade is through RP and that is why we limited it. However automatic shops are important to keeping the economy going.

Protected plots of land, lockable chests and gates and the like also detract from rp. Any and all people should have the right to lock any chest or door that they've placed. However thanks to the so-called "perks" only the "special people" have access to it.

Lockable chests are very important, and plots of land do not detract from RP. Not any person can lock a chest, not even in real life, and if thieves had the ability to break into whatever they wanted then the server would become anarchy.

The digging limit is absurd. If there is a limit for anyone, it should be for all. If not, then none for all. This is a classic example of OOC assertion over RP.

What your saying doesn't make sense.

Skill points should be earned, not bought. This is why we say pay to win because somebody could just purchase 50 points and up their swordsman to 100 on day one. It's obvious what I mean when I say "win"; I don't mean winning some sort of prize, but more that any character can get max stats without rping as long as they pay the right price for it.

You dont understand how skill points work.

Making a kingdom or nation: I really don't even need to argue with this. If you don't have the support, donating shouldn't give you the right to try and make a nation. at all.

It doesnt give you the right to make a kingdom of nation, your information is outdated.-

And to whoever said that talking against the donator perks is ignoring the rules.....that doesn't make sense. Any member has the right to state their opinion in the community because we are what drive the community. Just as members instigate new rules, they can also instigate rule changes if the whole of the community feels strongly enough. If you need proof, look no further than the beginning of this thread-we wanted the skill system back for a while and thanks to a poll held it was reinstated (although I'm sure plans were in effect already the public opinion cinched it).

It was reinstated because we paid for more expensive hardware thanks to peoples donations. Therefore Minecraft could actually run the script without issues, the skill system is a staff based designed game mechanic.
