  1. Hello denizens of Aegis! We hope you are enjoying your action packed, (or perhaps not), adventure in the beautiful and dangerous world of LoTC. We strive to make your Role-playing experience as best as possible and for that reason the wonderful Wiki was created.

    nancanto.png

The LoTC Wiki was made during the first few weeks of release and is a compilation of information of all sorts of things. It talks about the history, structures, landscapes, cities, even important and notable people. The Wiki is mostly a community effort and YOU are the ones who keep it detailed and beautiful for old and new players alike. Anyone can edit the Wiki.

So if you haven't seen it before, or are interested in helping update the Wiki with information check it out HERE.

What was your first addition or edit to the Wiki?

  2. Wow im sorry but you guys are celebrating over death? REALLY? im sorry but i know what he has done was bad but that doesnt mean you should celebrate that he has died. That just makes you even lower of a man or woman he was.

I'm sure you've had no family members raped or killed by this guy so I won't take what you said at heart. But when a man has been killing people for 42 years, you celebrate his death because the people who died because of him deserve it. Don't disrespect the hundreds and thousands who died by his hand by saying such things about this monster. I'm sure you celebrate Hitlers death, and this man was worse, he killed his own people.

  3. I don't really see any basis for the "celebrations" in the lore. I mean, we just gonna make random parties for nothing in particular IG. Then again, Ghadafi is dead! Availer used his magicks to go to his home town and give em' what he deserved.

You should never forget that this is a game. The world inside will always be influenced by the real world. Mass grouping of players usually isn't very realistic but is very fun. The fun overwhelms the need for realism in these circumstances. Ale for all I say!

  4. Hello everyone, as I'm sure you have all heard, the Tyrant Colonel Gaddafi was found wounded and died earlier today. It's a great day for the Libyan people and for all people in the world who uphold the values of liberty and freedom. Many Martyrs have died in the path of freedom and they will never be forgotten, their incredible feat of bravery and strength will be written down in history forever.

So tonight there will be a series of parties, competitions and giveaways all around Aegis. Think of it as an early Christmas :).

    Don't miss it.

  5. How much would I have to donate to get a graphic up there instead of a message? I can express myself much more with that and they feel more 'Me' :D

I would probably donate over $100 if I got the related package too. And a free pass through the application process :P

There will be a poster with the donators, their names, a graphics and a small quote.

  6. You guys seriously need to make the events occur at a time that caters to all time zones, it'd plain unfair to have such a big event when almost everyone in GMT is asleep.

7 O'Clock GMT is a great time for every time zone.

We think the fairest and best time is a time that has the most users on. Having an event where 250 can attend is better than only 150 attending. We are sorry you are unable to be on during these events but we have more GMT friendly events as well.

  7. Hello denizens of Aegis. I'm writing this while the Library I am in is closing. I have moved into a new apartment from my old hostel home in Brno. For that reason there have not been any major updates in the past week or so simply because the Lead Developer and coder of LoTC has been quite busy. However, the developers have been hard at work with LoTC 2.0 that will be the next huge installment into the World of LoTC. We're hoping for it's release to be bigger and more incredible than when LoTC first released and we are sure everyone is looking forward to a brand new world, with new mechanics, lore and systems.

We will be releasing a myriad of updates while we work on LoTC 2.0 and the Lore is constantly evolving and the world expanding through the hard work and enjoyment of our players and staff. It's been incredible, achieving the player numbers we have achieved with only a 5% acceptance rate means that we have a truly dedicated community. No white-listed server gets the amount of players we do and we're sure that there is no server with such quality and depth. We are proud to be the staff behind this incredible achievement and to have such a loving and supporting community such as yourself.

I will have a internet connection by the 12th of October for those who have noticed my absence. I'll still log in daily through various forms to continue development.

    Thank you.

  8. Dear Players of Aegis,

Thank you all for submitting articles to this competition. The staff of LoTC were in complete awe and absolutely amazed with the level of detail put in every single submission. It was incredibly hard to choose a winning one and in a fairer world we would've chosen all of them. However, after much contemplation we have chosen a winner.

    CONGRATULATIONS BINLOR!

Binlors submission was an incredible and unbiased opinion on The Lord Of The Craft. We loved the way he split the article into various sections. It was so good it could pass off as an online professional review, incredible work. He will be recieving his Gold VIP and 10,000 Minas very shortly. Enjoy the money, make sure not to waste it all on gambling and whoring.

    The Winning Submission

There aren't many Minecraft roleplaying servers, and I find Lord of the Craft to be by far my favourite. I haven't been playing for very long, but I find it to be very enjoyable. These are some of the reasons why:

    Application/Forums

Yes, new players, the application may be long and complicated. It's not impossible to fill out by any means, and I suspect that it was made particularly long just to make it harder to apply. That way the wheat is separated from the chafe, and only people committed enough to type up that huge message will be allowed on. This is a good thing. When applying, the mods can read the application to get a good overview of your personality. If you are the type of person who will fit in on the server (ie someone who enjoys roleplaying for the sake of roleplaying, will not destroy the experience for other players and will immerse themselves fully in the beautiful world created by the players), then you will be welcomed onto a server with other people like you, who enjoy playing and roleplaying, and a server free from griefers, spammers, and people who just don't want to roleplay. If you're one of the latter group, then I'm afraid that you're not really going to enjoy this nserver. Learn to enjoy roleplaying, or choose a different server. There's plenty out there that you'll find more interesting than this one if you don't want to roleplay.

A particular emphasis is placed on your character's background. This is also a good thing. I wrote six paragraphs for mine, although this is much more than necessary (a single, albeit lengthy, paragraph will normally suffice), it allowed me to make a much more developed character who I can now roleplay much more effectively.

Of course, the existence of a specialised forum is also nice in itself. With sections for nearly every possible subject, and focussed on (as you might expect) Minecraft and roleplaying in particular, it is the forum that I decided to do my community playthrough of Lone Wolf on. The playthrough can be found here. [/shameless self advertisement] Anyway, the fact that I chose to do it on this forum (and believe me, this is by no means the only, or even then best, purely roleplaying forum I know of) shows how much faith I had in the community to join in with the roleplaying.

    Mods

Well, I think that the other posts have got it covered, more or less. Inn my experience, though I have had a few annoyances in the past (most notably with them refusing to change my soulstone's home city, which I wanted for roleplaying reasons), on the whole they have been extremely forgiving. They've refunded money that I've lost due to bugs from both the server and vanilla Minecraft, which I really hadn't expected, to be honest. I've also seen them actually interacting with the community, rather than sitting there 'just' moderating.

They are also very fast. When you consider how many requests they must get, and that more are coming in 24/7, it's amazing that I've never had to wait more than half an hour (and the only one that came close to passing that mark was only because I left the game before they got to my request, so they had to wait for me to get back on!)

    Gameplay

Now in my opinion, this is a bit hit and miss. Some features (such as houses, towns, mines, building rules, and roleplaying rules) are spot non, while a few (the skill system in particular) I find less enjoyable. However, these still have important purposes that could not be fulfilled in any easier way, such as slowing character development (preventing diamond picks within a week, for instance). The skill system does also produce a great sense of achievement when you finally complete a goal you've been working towards. I remember how much I celebrated when I finally reached level 30 in Mining, so I could use an iron pick. I can only imagine how I will feel at level 50, for diamonds!

The other great thing is the economy. Many servers have a simple economy that can only be obtained in one or two ways. How do you get gold ingots? Mine them, or get someone to pay you for something. How do you get Deniers in Millenaire? Sell stuff to the villagers. In LotC? Hmm. You can kill monsters for a quick early amount of cash. Or you might join a town guard for more reliable wages. But what if you don't like fighting? Never fear. Maybe mining is more for you? Spend a couple of days getting your mining to level 30, borrow some money, buy an iron pick and a mining permit, and away you go mining iron to sell! Or you could farm, or trade as a travelling merchant, or set up a shop, or build new houses, maybe even a city, or...you get the idea. Basically, the economy's very well designed and set up.

    The World

But what's a roleplaying server, no matter how good the gameplay is, if the world is awful and boring? Fortunately, LotC isn't like that. It's certainly not boring, it doesn't stay the same long enough! Every day, there's something new to explore in my town, whether it's an archery range, a market, or just new housing. And the world does look good. You can see for yourself, you don't need to register to look around the server (just to place and destroy blocks in it). The cities could be further apart, of course. Nearly everyone agrees on that, so the mods are planning to make a new map, move the old cities into it, but further apart, and incidentally make use of the new generator as we do so. This shows not only that my only worry with the world is solved, but that the mods listen to the community. (As if I hadn't already made that clear enough!)

    People/Community

Speaking of which, the community in itself is brilliant. I've played several servers now, and can safely say that I haven't seen any which are more helpful and enjoyable than this one. It doesn't matter what question I ask, or advice I ask for, within a few seconds I will receive an answer. Generally two or three, all saying the same thing, as people rush to give advice first! Whether conversing with a fellow dwarf in IC (In Character) chat, joining in the random subject of the moment in OOC (out of character) chat, or even giving far more thought out posts on the forums, I have been impressed by the way the community responds. I don't think I have seen a single 'lolz NOOB!!!!!!' or similar on this server yet, except being used sarcastically as I did then. Clearly this shows the maturity of the members, who are generally incredibly helpful and kind. I owe my position in an excellent guild with a house of my own building, and access to a guild mine, to the surprise offer by Tesawa to ask if I could join the guild when I applied for a mining job.

This is, basically, a great world with a great community. I try to be honest, and would not be being honest if I claimed that this was 'the ultimate Minecraft server'. Nor would you believe me, and quite rightly so. However, this is certainly the best server I've come across! It's not just me who thinks so, either, don't forget that. It's me, a friend who hates writing yet wrote out the application in full to get it, all nthe commentators below me (and soon to be above me too, no doubt), and the 200 odd players online at any given time, not to mention those who can't get on for whatever reason. So if you're a roleplayer, and like pretending to be a fantasy creature, or have ever enjoyed a game of Dungeons and Dragons, or reread an adventure gamebook to try out another route, and have wished that these things were more available in this digitalised world, then join us at Lord of the Craft! See you there.

  9. Nothing is more sickening than their last attempt at retribution by deleting these places that are part of Aegis. It's an obvious indicator of why they resigned in the first place.

I'm sure people will understand, there are over 25 GMs, two left because of obvious reasons. As the other 25 GMs what they feel about it and they'll show obvious relief. Do not let their propaganda trick you into thinking they were the victims, if they were, the rest of the GM team would follow.
