  1. If you think its hard then your character really doesnt deserve to be a master blacksmith. You can't be a master blacksmith in a day, it takes your character time. Imagine in two weeks time seeing the way other characters have developed, from neophyte miners turning into legendary or master miners. It's a good way to measure progression. We don't want people becoming master blacksmiths in one in-game day, it doesn't make a lot of sense.

  2. Hey guys, It's me Availer. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying what Aegis has to offer. I would like to officially announce that I am back. However, I will be moving to a different country today at 4PM. I will be settled back very soon. The Development team has been doing an amazing job regardless and we hope you have had a pleasant time on LoTC.

    LoTC 2.0 (Unofficial Name)

I'ld like to tell people that we are working on developing a new continent in the World of Aegis.

It will harbour an incredible new dynamic world, with better biomes, more organised cities, landscapes, lore and nations.

You can not imagine how amazing this new development shall be.

Both continents will be accessible at the same time.

The new continent will tie in with the history and lore of Aegis.

This is the minimal amount of information I can offer at the mean time but a lot is in development and all the developers are very busy. We are still continuing development on the current continent and will continue to develop the plugins and mechanics we've announced before.

I would like to thank all of our Donators past, present and future for allowing this project to continue and flourish. To our community for trusting us and supporting us throughout the past few months. Please remember to vote and to continue to vote daily to help promote LoTC.

I had an amazing time in Libya for anyone who is interested, ran about with an AK47, 14.5MM Turrets mounted on Toyotas and the rest. Love the country, hope you guys get to visit it in the future.

  3. Then it would have to be as hard as diamond, which, due to molecular structure, IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Where do they get the gold and diamond from? If your answer is 'Because they had it before skills', then I will smash my head against a wall and scream in frustration. If Skills is meant to be part of the server, you can't rely on it NOT BEING THERE. Also, "We got it back before skills screwed up nature" is techincally meta.

Also, you start with zero skill and zero Minas, so you need to get something to get Minas from, and now you can't gather anything or even craft a simple sword. Unless the guard are taking fistfighters, new players are stuck.

Oh dear lord, I actually got hold of a PC and decided to check how LoTC is going and I saw this mad paragraph of simple lack of understanding and general foolishness. Skills was ADDED to the server. Just like WoW:Burning Crusade was ADDED to WoW. Remove original WoW and you really cant do much with WoW:BC. It's an expansion, that's how it works. THE WHOLE POINT OF THE BLOODY SKILL SYSTEM IS TO STOP SELF SUFFICIENCY STOP ARGUING THAT YOU CANT BE SELF SUFFICIENT THATS THE WHOLE POINT. YOU MUST TRADE FOR WEAPONS, FIND A JOB, KILL MONSTERS, EXPLORE. Rather than... woop, cutty cutty, diggy diggy, cobblestone house, exit server.

I have never seen a mob drop an ore. You would have to kill so many, and all the time a miner is hunting, they are not interacting with other players.

And if you say creeper, how do you get down to them? You can't make a wood pickaxe, because you need a wood axe to cut wood.

You can SALVAGE WOOD, BUY IT, TRADE. Mobs drop Ores at a high percentage. You can GROUP HUNT, we can't FORCE PLAYERS to interact but we can damn sure make it more probable and that's what we did with removing self sufficiency.

Oh, and all this talk of skills promoting player interaction? The server was at one of it's peaks of people online yesterday, yet Al'khazar had SIX PEOPLE for a good fifteen minutes, after which two or three more turned up. They're all out hunting hundreds of mobs to get their swords back and not RPing.

There was probably an event. People don't hunt mobs and I've seen hundreds of players all over Aegis interactign buddy. Everyone is RPing and stop spewing lies.

People do not play LoTC to go out and kill mobs for a week. And gold armour is weaker than iron armour.

People play LoTC TO DO WHAT THEY WANT, if they want to RP there is a perfect RP enviroment if they want to do some grind theirs an environment for that.

Do you mean 'does not', rather than 'cannot'? It's a fictional world, it can do whatever it likes. Yet Aegis follows similar laws of physics to Earth, it, like most fictional worlds, is based off of ours. Fictional worlds AMEND the laws of physics, they do not rewrite them. Minecraft is also a GAME, so the mechanics have to work. The materials you can get progress, they should not follow a loop, otherwise how would anyone have got them in the first place?

    Errr... This is Aegis buddy.

Gold does not think, it's a metal. Stop spamming words without checking what they mean just to make your post seem more authoritative.

Gold does what LoTC makes it do. I don't see you complaining the use of milk for Ale or sponges for soulstones?

  4. This is something similiar to how I personally would have assigned abilties for swords (no point complaining if there is nothing you want changed.) Maybe something in there may be useful to someone?

    Swordsmanship

Level 00 - Wooden practice swords only, -1 damage with swords

Level 05 - Unlock Stone and Iron Swords

    Level 10 - 5% Parry Chance

Level 15 - Unlock Diamond and Gold Swords

    Level 20 - +0.5 damage bonus (total bonus -0.5)

Level 25 - Ability: 50% chance to keep swords in your inventory upon death

    Level 30 - 10% Parry Chance

    Level 35 - Increased Knockback

    Level 40 - +0.5 damage bonus (total bonus 0)

Level 45 - Ability: Keep swords in your inventory upon death

    Level 50 - 15% Parry Chance

    Level 55 - Increased Knockback

    Level 60 - +0.5 damage bonus (total bonus +0.5)

Level 65 - 5% chance for double damage

    Level 70 - 20% Parry Chance

    Level 75 - Increased Knockback

    Level 80 - +0.5 damage bonus (total bonus 1)

Level 85 - 50% Chance of Double Drops when killing mobs

    Level 90 - 25% Parry Chance

    Level 95 - +0.5 damage bonus (total bonus 1.5)

Level 100 - 10% chance for double damage

Minecraft is simple. Adding abilities gives a myriad of bugs and problems. It's also not very fun and buggy. Without sound effects and animations it doesn't work either.

The current swords system has parry and damage bonus. How would double drops make sense anyway. Lvl 50 hardly takes alot of time to get. What's the point of the skill cap if people can use diamond at lvl 15. And didnt you say earlier you dont want pros to own new players. having all those bonuses at lvl 100, you would either two hit or one hit most players.

RP Points for Skills? Big no no. You RP because you enjoy it and because that's the way the game is played.

  5. You dont need to grind. Why are you grinding? There is no skill city, Luravar is a city made for community development. People meet up and help each other perfect their professions. You can't get owned by veteran players because it's limited to 275 skill points. None of you had these arguments when we had MCMMO. It is YOUR choice if you want to grind or not. The skill system has made it POSSIBLE TO GRIND, but it's not PROMOTED grinding. It's not the ONLY way to play. You can level up by simple being yourself, by fighting monsters with friends and eventually being able to access what you want. It is the joy of movement and development, what is the point of a game where you can do everything, wher e is the RP in doing everything you want? It makes complete sense that untrained neophytes cant use Swords and Pikes because you're not trained with them. You can work with a woodensword because it is lighter and easier to use and probably cause more damage. You need to train your muscles and agility to work with better and bigger weapons. Getting lvl 20 takes an hour at most, and this server is made to last months and perhaps years. None is forcing you to grind so dont use the excuse its grind city.

The Lord Of The Craft is played the way YOU want to play it.

  6. You've obviously misunderstood the concept of the skills system and are using silly not very persuasive arguments.

We are unable to fully stimulate the difference between peoples level of skill in real life to peoples level in skill in a very limited gaming enviroment. As in real life, an idiot swordsman who uses a very sharp and powerful sword is most likely to hurt himself than hurt other people causing little damage to his enemies. He doesn't have the skill or efficiency to use that weapon in a good manner or a positive manner, therefore he would require more training to use these weapons.

The skill systems allows people to CHOOSE how the life of their character should be led. If the skill system did not limit peoples ability to use specific quality weapons and tools then there would be no reason to add it. It allows people to concentrate on one specific profession and become a professional of it. They begin to lead their local community at that specific skills therefore creating more community infusion as swordsman will go to blacksmiths for repairs, blacksmiths to miners for ores and they will look to swordsmen for protection. This greatly improved the community RP effect and therefore negates the annoying self sufficiency that comes with Minecraft. People now have a REASON to TRADE, COMMUNICATE and PLAY TOGETHER. Rather than just going off to the wilderness playing a bit, finding it boring and going off to another server without exploring the true quality of Aegis.

The skill system ENRICHES the RP, adds another dimension to the way Minecraft will be played. If you think it's ruining the RP then you are in a sense really powergaming, having access to abilities your character shouldnt have. At least now you can EARN those abilities. It's not an oversight, the skill system was discussed and thought about deeply by a dedicated development team. We also took in the ideas of the community as a whole.
