  1. I also forgot to add, most people don't know how to lose I mean PVP it proves who wins in basic ways. But RP fight people will last as long as they can before they admit defeat. It can be annoying

If both players cannot look at the battle objectively, contact a moderator to help decide and discuss the possible outcomes. But whatever you do, do not resort arguing with the other persons involved.

  2. This rule should really have exceptions, I.E a 5 v 2 or a 5 v 3 a RP fight would be horrendous, and just spam emotes with alot of confusion. I will RP fight if it is a 1 v 1, 1 v 2 or 1 v 3, etc but anything more then 4 people will just lead to confusion and arguing. As a villian I will always try my best to give the other player the option, however RP fights with more then 4 people again will just be confusing

If you follow the procedure.... If you all agree to fight, then fight. If you cannot decide and believe an RP fight would be too hectic, walk away from the RP.

  3. And what do we do when a side of a party is clearly powergaming and the opposing party refuses to continue the RP.

I witnessed an RP with with a halfling vs 5 orcs, and the halfling dodged out of everything, especially with a snapped leg. The orcs were pissed, and just wanted to engage in RP.

As stated within the thread, if you experience a player powergaming you should post a modreq ASAP.

  4. In the recent GM meeting, we have discussed a plethora of issues, one issue of particular importance was the many ongoing issues regarding player vs player and roleplay fighting. The GM team has addressed this as an issue and a major complication within almost all altercations regarding conflict of a violent nature. We have discussed this and have come to a conclusion as to the rules regarding these altercations.

    So what is the problem?

Players have increasingly found themselves stuck or forced into player vs player combat. Lord of the Craft is predominately identified as a Light- RP server, so naturally PvP is going to exist and is an accepted part of the server, however roleplay is the main theme of lord of the craft. Problems have been occurring when those who prefer PvP try to force this type of interaction on those who despise PvP entirely thus causing issues.

    What is the rule change?

Although it isn't so much as a rule change so much as a rule confirmation. The GM team has made the decision to make PvP combat a purely optional decision as in an 'opt in' method of resolving a battle. As such no player of lord of the craft under any circumstances will be forced to engage in player vs player combat. The only exception to this being wars, where PvP is an accepted norm.

So, when should I resort to player vs player combat and when should I continue a roleplay encounter?

For the group of players involved in this situation to answer this question for themselves, they first need to follow a small procedure to analyse the situation and act accordingly. The following procedure is listed below.

"Help me, this person want's to PvP and I want to RP fight! What do I do?"

    1. Firstly you need to analyse the situation by identifying several variables;

    • Look at the situation objectively. If we choose to RP fight, whose character is more likely to realistically win?
    • Which option do I want to do?
    • Which option does my counterpart want to do?

    2. Once both parties have analysed the situation you are ready to proceed to decided what you want to do.

If both players agree to engage in PvP combat, provided there is significant roleplay leading up to the battle, then the player may do so.

If both players agree to continue the RP interaction with aggressive emotes, then this is what the players should do. However, having analysed the situation objectively prior to making the decision, you need to acknowledge that your might lose the confrontation. This isn't something to be fearful of and is a natural part of roleplay. Embrace losing, whether your character is send back to the cloud temple, left wounded on the ground or voluntarily killed forever you should accept the consequences.

If each player disagrees as to the option that wish to take, by default roleplaying emotes is default. However, if the players are resisting the roleplay option then the best option may be to both agree to walk away.

    Important notes:
    • When engaging in roleplay emotes, you cannot powergame and using "attempts to..." or "tries to..." before all emotes is mandatory. This allows the other player to either respond to your emotes or accept the emote.
    • All PvP battles must be after a significant amount of roleplay and ample warning before you begin spam left clicking each other.

    • Player vs Player combat is a perfectly viable option following the above procedure has been followed and you have satisfied the above note.

    Feedback

Your feedback is very important to the GM team, so please tell us what you think of this decision. Post below with any feedback, complaints or questions and the GM team will do our best to respond.

    EDIT:
    • If you are in an interaction and experience powergaming, confusion or arguments when fighting. Make a modreq (do NOT pm a moderator) and they will attempt to help you solve the issue.
    • Aerinyes idea: It will now be decided that running from RP with first attempting to do so, will be consider an act of PvP and you're then allowing yourself to be killed.
