  1. ((OOC username:)) Archoly Name: Lafthi Sylvari Age: 768 Research archtype: The energy of arcane and voidal evocation magic. Alchemy when I have the time. Research details: While water, earth and air/wind evocation are all caused by physical particles that we observe in the natural universe, fire and electricity appear to be something else entirely. I hope to pursue what this difference is and to see if fire and electricity are innately related. Potential danger (0-5): While I do not anticipate anything too dangerous, I will put down a 4 as both of these elements can be dangerous if not properly controlled. Space preferred: I would prefer A, B or C.
  2. Is the server down?

  3. ((If you could get skype that would help a lot. Just PM me your user name))
  4. *A notice hangs on Malinor's noticeboard, quick, concise, and to the point.* "The three new interim captains are as follows: -Aeyrius Oussana -Emanaf Delsaran -Kaldo Raven'kor If all three captains could contact Prince Lafthi Sylvari it would be most appreciated." ((Mind posting your skype's if you have them?))
  5. *sees the notice while he is on his daily walk. After thinking for a few moments he writes down two names.* "Respiren- the Hierophant Salmon Druid Petyr."
  6. *Lafthi Sylvari stands at the well in the central plaza in Malinor, A small crowd is forming, as your curiosity piques you draw closer.* "Greetings my llir, Much has changed in our forest as of late, however, we cannot let a sudden change lull us into a sense of complacency. We still have much work to do. As the Prince overseeing the Lower Council, the following changes are therefore enacted: With Ebs Teluryna stepping down from the Lower Council, Resia Los'iirae has graciously accepted the invitation to join the Lower Council as Steward. Additionally, Golrodir Eritaf has joined the Lower Council as Foreman. The Hall of Labor will soon be posting for needed jobs around Malinor, all interested parties should see him. Finally, and no doubt, the biggest piece of information, the High Council has come to an agreement on what to do with Malinor's current Military situation. After much debate, a decision has been made. I will personally become Interim High Commander of Malinorian forces. During such a time, I will personally be assessing the military and how best to proceed from there. During such a time I will be watching for a someone to distinguish themselves and become to new High Commander. However during that time, I will need captains to help me oversee this force. If you are interested in joining the military or becoming a Captain please fill out the application I will be handing out. Additionally, the new military will be paid and obtain appropriate benefits based on rank, which will be established soon. Any further questions please see me personally." *Lafthi steps down, and begings handing out applications to any and all who want them.* Application: ((MC Name:)) RP Name: Age: Previous Work Experience: Pervious Military Experience: Weapon Skills: Captain Application only from this Point: Why do you wish to be a Captain?: What do you see for the future of the Malinorian Military?: Any other notes you may wish to note:
  7. *As you walk through Malinor's front gates, you notice a group congregating around the well. Working your way towards the front of the group you notice a High Elf holding a rather large book. You recognize the Elf as Prince Lafthi Sylvari. Listening in...* "At last, I finally managed to find it. The record of the Elven Family Sylvari. Within this tome lie the traditions of the Sylvari family as well as an extensive family tree. I have been looking for this tome since Asulon so that we, the Sylvari Family, may be restored to one another. Without further ado..." *Lafthi turns the book around so that all may read it without having to take it.* "The Family Sylvari" Physical Features "The Family Syvari traces the vast majority of it's roots to High Elves. However there have been several branches of both Dark and Wood Elves. However, even with the stated diversity all Sylvari Elves tend to have blue eyes, and be fairly tall. However with their height they are also quite thin." Sylvari Values "The Sylvari family very early on in their founding took the words: "Faith, Service, Study." This family moto has proven to be very descriptive of the Sylvari Family and as such will be be described in finer detail below: 1. Faith- Above all the Sylvari family has been and presumably will continue to be a fairly religious family. However, even though the Sylvari's have taken to be a religious lot, that does not mean they all worship the same deity. While many worship the Creator, the druids among the Sylvari worship the Aspects, and so forth. However, as a combination of their faith and diverse family, the Sylvari are a very welcoming one. Any elf or half elf, or foreigner would be welcomed warmly into the Sylvari household. 2. Service- Second only totheir service of their deities, is the Sylvari's family's service to Malinor. Throughout Malinor's history, the Sylvari's have been very involved in everything from the guard force to the High Council of Malinor. Many Sylvari's find much pleasure in their work for Malinor and thoroughly enjoy helping their kin. However, with their physical limitations most Sylvari serve Malinor either through service to the Lower Council, or taking jobs as farmers and the like. 3. Study- With the Sylvari's tall lithe build, not many have grown to become swordsmen as it were. As such, many Sylvari have grown to become mages, alchemists, or even scientists. Most of the Sylvari family prefer challenges of the mind, rather than of the flesh. Even if a particular Sylvari prefers not to take the path of the magic user, many have taken jobs as scientists and the like, studying anything from the effects of the magic of the Malinorian forests to the effects of redstone. This is not to say that every Sylvari Family member shuns the sword, however most find other tasks more to their liking. Clothing "Most Sylvari choose to dress in a combination of white and green as is tradition, however other colors are often seen too. Most family members wear robes as a result of their magical calling, however those inclined to other pursuits will often wear other garments to match their chosen calling." Love Life and Children "As befits the diversity of the Sylvari family, it is not uncommon to see a union between two different subraces of High Elves. As such, there is some amount of blending in the Sylvari family, that is not seen in the other Elven Families present in Malinor. However, it remains true that unions between the same subtype of Elf remains far more common." Children are raised entirely by their parents until the age of 10. After such time they are often paired with an elder Sylvari as an apprentice. This could include anything from magic to smithing. Depending on the craft, the apprenticeship can last for a few years to decades and decades. Because of the severity of the choice, both the child and the parents would be involved in deciding what craft the child undertakes." Elders "Either through a combination of services rendered, significant discovery, or plain old age, a Sylvari Family member would attain the title of Elder. Mainly acting as sign of respect, if any important family decisions would be made, it would probably be discussed by the Elders of the Family before being discussed among the family as a whole." *turning the next page you notice pages upon pages of a family tree. As time approaches present day, you notice more and more blanks. However there are several blanks spaces where a family member might be able to fill in their information. The newest information seems to be painted in by Lafthi himself, showing his parents two High Elf Parents Aenor and Arvellan and Lafthi as an only child. While it appears that his mother Arvellan was an only child. There are a few sibllings of his father that some relations might come from.* OOC Bit MC Name: RP Name: Relation: ((OOC Info: All family members are entitled to a room in the family manor as well as all facilities with it.
  8. *Prince Lafthi is seen hanging posters all over the city, a bit curious you take a closer look.* "The High Council is please to announce that Tyras McKay, current foreman of the Lower Council of Malinor has agreed to become the Malinorian High Commander. As such he will be given broad powers to reform both the Wardens and Lumidrim to bring Malinor to a full fighting force. Additionally, the position of High Admiral, which was rendered moot under the High prince Kolyat is being reestablished. The position of High Admiral will be responsible for finding a suitable ship-wright within the Holy Princedom of Malinor to craft ships, as well as take command of said vessels. Prior experience is necessary. If you are interested in this position please seek out Prince Lafthi Sylvari. Finally, Mayilu'llirame has been selected to join the Lower Council as our very own Event Coordinator. As such, the positions of Treasurer, and Foreman now sit empty upon the Lower Council. If you wish to fill one of these positions please apply with the appropriate flier." May the Seven Skies Bless You, -Lafthi Sylvari, Prince of Malinor, Head of the Lower Council

  10. Lafthi continues to move about the glen, moving resources into chests, leveling the ground, and helping the druids move the trees. He turns and notices the High Elf and listens to his question as he continues to work. "You shall just have to see friend!"
  11. *As you walk into Malinor you might notice a fair amount of activity going on the south side of the front plaza. An elf or two works quickly to remove the stone and wood that used to be the shop occupying the site. At the same time a druid works to coax the trees out of the glen. It appears that the Elves are clearing the area for something. At that same moment Prince Lafthi walks over and sticks a sign on the gate barring people's way.* "Construction in progress. Please remain outside the fence for your own safety." *The sign says nothing of what is being built, as it is clearly a secret for now. If you are a curious elf, your curiosity might be piqued enough to ask around."
  12. *Lafthi hurries quickly to the notice boards around Luminaire, hanging a small additional note below the first.* "Congratulations to both Ebs Telurnya, and Tyras McKay. Ebs has been appointed as the new Steward of Malinor and Tyras has been appointed Foreman. Both will work to reform the economy of Malinor. Additionally, Ebs will be responsible for housing the citizens of Malinor and Tyras will be responsible for overseeing the new labor system coming into effect. Join me in welcoming them onto the Lower Council. May the Seven Skies bless you, -Lafthi Sylvari
  13. *Lafthi Sylvari scribbles frantically at his desk, writing for one moment, scribbling something out the next. He sits at his desk for several hours, ink flying in all directions, on his desk, on his sleeves, yet the parchment he writes on remains clean. When he finally grows satisfied with what he wants, Lafthi writes out a clean version on new parchment. Satisfied with his work, Lafthi gives his piece one more look over and nods in satisfaction. He then leaves out his front door and walks down to the forest floor. Lafthiproceeds to post the flier on every notice board in Malinor." Greetings Elves of Malinor, The past Elven Day has seen my ascension to the High Council as well as myself being put in charge of whipping the Lower Council into shape. As it stands currently, and as far as I can figure, the Lower Council positions that are open at this point in time, as well as an informal set of duties appear below. If you would like to apply for any of these positions please see the application below: The Lower Council Steward Treasurer Foreman Event Planner Headmaster The application appears below: If you have any further questions do not be afraid to contact me. May the Seven Skies Bless you. -Prince Lafthi Sylvari
  14. *As you approach the central plaza of Luminaire you notice an tall High Elf hanging up a short notice.* To those of Malinor wishing for a new home, As you may or may not be aware, homes in the City of Luminare are currently free. To take advantage of this all you need to do is select an unoccupied home you wish to inhabit and then contact Lafthi Sylvari ((Archoly)) for access to the residence. Additionally, if you believe a home has been abandoned, contact Lafthi Sylvari and we can see about getting you moved in as well. Malin's Blessing, Lafthi Sylvari, Steward of Malinor
  15. Choice 1: Ambassador Choice 2 (if applicable): Headmaster of College/Scribe Choice 3 (if applicable): Steward ((MC name)): Archoly (RP) Name: Lafthi Sylvari Race: High Elf Age: 921 Gender: Male Do you have a family, if so how many members will be residing with you: I do not have any living family members at this time. ((Please state your time zone)): Pacific Standard Time ((Please state your average playing time)): On weekdays: 3-4 hours, on weekends 4+. ((Please state why we can trust you with this job)): When the server was just starting up, I actually was the first diplomat/ambassador for Malinor. At first this meant a lot of setup both OOC and IC with ShiftNative to develop the position to what we wanted it to be. Through this I think we developed a system that was both efficient and helped represent Malinor in the best possible way. ((Do you use skype?)): Yes. ((How long have you been on the server?)): I played for the first year the server was up. Unfortunately after that college got pretty hard so I had to drop most of my time I played. However, with summer and my next year’s schedule I should have a lot more time to play. ((Why, as a player, do you wish to join the lower council?)): I wish to join the lower council because when I was Ambassador in Aegis and Asulon, I met some great RP'ers and had some of the greatest RP I ever experienced. Additionally, I believe that through these experiences that I was not only able to positively represent Malinor but also benefit Malinor through my experiences as Ambassador. What nation do you reside in, if any: Malinor. Do you hold any allegiances to other nations and or organizations/guilds? If so state them, and their nature: None currently. Do you have any work experience, if so where and what: I was the first diplomat of Malinor when we first arrived in Aegis. I served as the first and only diplomat of Malinor for several years before getting permission to expand the Diplomatic Corps. With the Diplomacy Corps expanded I served as Head Diplomat for a time before being chosen to serve on the High Council as a Prince of Malinor. I then served as a Prince of Malinor from Aegis and the transition to Asulon. In Asulon I was still the primary diplomat as well as taking on my Princely duties. For the sake of the application I will leave out specifics, but if you wish for them, simplyw rite for them or ask for them and I will be happy to provide them. Do you have a criminal record, if so state your offenses: I have no criminal record. Why do you feel you are suited for Job Choice 1: As stated before, I was the first diplomat of Malinor and before leaving to travel, I stayed in that position as Diplomat, Head Diplomat and Prince. During my time I brokered peace between Malinor and the Orcs when raids were being committed back and forth. As a result, we were allies from that time on until the Fall of Aegis. After arriving in Asulon I still served as Diplomat while on the High Council, however, this position was much reduced due to the fact that Malinor was much an isolationist state during that time. However, given the current set of circumstances, it is evident that the Ambassador of Malinor is once again a needed and vital position for someone up to the task. If applicable, why do you feel you are suitable for Job Choice 2: Under High Princess Sythra Duskwind, I helped to build the first college in Normandor when the Elves lived in Asulon. After serving as the Headmaster of the College, for a short time, I passed the title to Dante Flormai and continued to help him set up classes and seminars for a short time before leaving on my travels. If applicable, why do you feel you are suitable for Job Choice 3: Reading over the duties of the Steward, it seems that many of the duties and responsibilities were the same I was responsible for as Prince. Assuming I was not chosen for Ambassador or Headmaster, I feel that I could perform reasonably well as Steward. State any comment that you think may aid you in this application here: For the sake of the ones going over this application I was brief in several areas to prevent this application from growing too long. If additional information is needed, simply write to me and I can furnish additional experiences and stories. Thank you for your time.
  16. *Lafthi looks at the brief bit of magic with a nod of approval.* "So Kalenz, was that beautiful bit of magic there an answer of some kind? Forgive me, I am not too good with riddles."
  17. *Lafthi stands up from the pillar he had been leaning against, making his face and identity evident for the first time since listening to what had been said.* "Aye, I agree our situation is less than ideal. However, it seems it may be necessary for the time being. It seems this... rather small... island, is our home for now. A home of which every square foot of forest, desert, coastline and plain has been claimed. Additionally, we have the threat of this volcano lurking over our heads. It seems living with the dwarves, while distasteful for now, may be our best option. It seems we are in their debt. With that resolved we must truly discuss how our government will form. With my utmost respect, I disagree with you Prince Orlanden, there is an issue of governance. The High Elves and the Elves of Malinor have both expressed interest in reuniting and rightly so. In Asulon we were often working against each other more often than we worked alongside each other. This, as we have all come to realize within the last few months, cannot continue to happen. It is not only a detriment to Malinor of the High Elves, but all Mali in general. Indeed, even today it seemed that we were acting as two separate groups, each trying to find a way to control the other, to become the ruler of the Mali. This my friends, is an utter waste of elven energy, will and talent. We must redirect all of this into becoming one people again, and not trying to control the other. Until that time, nothing will happen. However, for this to happen, we must find a working form of government that is agreed upon by all Mali, and not just by one group. With this in mind, I would hope that the Silver and the High Council would willingly come together to reunify our broken people, as it is not only the will of our two peoples to become one, but our greatest chance at a brighter future."
  18. Just a follow up, did you want me to assume evil mage instead of shade because it sounds like we've had very different RP experiences with them :P also at Uthor, if Fengric isn't supposed to do clerical apps can I get a verdict on mine? Thanks!
  19. 1)MC Name & RP Name: MC: Archoly RP: Lafthi Sylvari 2) Chosen Patron: Aeriel 3) Reason For Joining (do not have the reason be to become Ascended): In Aegis, Lafthi started out as an ambassador for Malinor, and for a time he was content. For the first time his life had purpose. He was able to not only help Malinor, but help bring peace to Aegis. However, there always came a point where Lafthi could not bring peace to Malinor. Whether that was because of forces beyond his control, such as the war-prone Orcs, or because of his own failings, there would be times when Lafthi could not bring peace to Malinor. This would rack his conscience with extreme guilt, as the blood was spilled in the wars was because of him. It was during one of these times in his life that Lafthi was approached by the Ascended. After being informed by the Sages that in his blood flowed the blood of the Aenguls, he redevoted his life to Aeriel. After many months of studying deep into the night in the hidden catacombs of Haven, training with his fellow initiates in the practice yard and countless hours in the chapel forging a special connection with Aeriel, Lafthi once again knew happiness in his life. Once he was a fully trained Ascended he walked Aegis, healing the sick, protecting the defenseless and spreading the light of Aeriel into the darkness that Iblees had attempted to cast. However, Iblees was winning. Cities were falling to the undead every day. No matter how hard the Ascended tried to work, they could not stop the onslaught that was the undead. However, everyone knows where the story goes from here. Eventually the races fled Aegis to the new land of Asulon. With their departure from Aegis, so fled the Ascended power's that Lafthi had come to depend on. No longer could he conjure the purifying flames or the healing light that he had used in Aeriel's name. However, Aeriel had helped Lafthi. Rather than simply sink into depression again he continued to spread Aeriel's light without his powers. Even though he could no longer work great acts in her name, such as purifying the soul with fire like he had used to; instead he now worked small acts in her name. He gave food to the hungry, clothed the naked, and cared to the dying. However, now that Lafthi has heard of The Clerics, he wishes to join their ranks so that he might once again follow the path of Aeriel like he once did in Aegis. 4)Race: High Elf 5)Flaws in Your Character: On the physical side Lafthi is a slightly older High Elf. This means that he is on the weaker side, physically, as compared to other races. However, it is mentally that Lafthi has his bigger weaknesses. After spending many years in a public office, Lafthi has come to be a bit paranoid. While this had actually helped him to a limited extent in some cases, it tends to put quite the strain on relationships, especially when first starting out. Rather than getting to know the person oftentimes Lafthi is searching for their motivation and how they could hurt him. 6) How long have you been on the server: I joined during the summer of 2011, but did take a few months off this year. Overall, I have been actively playing for a bit more than a year. Scenario Questions-Answer how you would react to each situation. 7) You notice an Apprentice Shade harassing a lowly citizen. [shades Are Evil Mages] Lafthi looks down an alleyway of Kal’Alras and notices what appears to be to figures up against a wall. After a brief examination Lafthi notices that one appears to be an apprentice shade that had cornered a young dwarven maid of Alras. The thought occurs to Lafthi that no master shade would send his apprentice on an actual “hit” of a target so it is more than likely that the overconfident apprentice had wanted to test his new powers, as well as earn some coin for a good time. Lafthi pulls out a small bag of coin and calls to the Shade, “It seems like you are having a bit of fun there, but perhaps taking this will save you some time?” It seems Lafthi’s assumptions were correct about the shade as he rushed by Lafthi, taking the coin and leaving the poor dwarf huddled in the corner. Lafthi lets the shade leave and addresses the young girl still huddled in the corner, “Now then miss are you alright?” 8) You see a small child shivering in the snow. Lafthi is walking his way around the countryside surrounding Holm when he hears a rustle in the bushes. The fading light of the setting sun doesn’t allow Lafthi to see what kind of game made the noise, but food is food so Lafthi unslings his bow and knocks an arrow. The small creature this time crawls out of the bushes, taking it to be a wounded artic cat or small bear, Lafthi aims and nearly releases the arrow before hearing a small cry from the small shape. Upon further inspection the “shape” turns out to be a young northerner, no more than five or six that had lost his parents on their move to Holm. Taking off his wolfskin coat and blanket from his pack he covers the boy. After starting a fire and building a small shelter in the snow for the night Lafthi is able to talk to the boy and discover where his parents were heading. Learning it is not far he makes plans to set off for the boy’s parents’ new farm in the morning. 9) You are walking down the road when a bandit stops you and threatens to kill you if you don't give him all your money and valuables. “Ah, but of course, let me simply open my pack.” Lafthi opens his pack to reveal that he is carrying three loaves of bread, a couple of apples, and a book about Aeriel, much to the thief’s dismay. As Lafthi hands over the book he comments “Perhaps you might learn a thing or two from that book? Might I help you?” The thief gives Lafthi a look of disgust and shoves his to the ground. Pushing himself up Lafthi sees that the thief is gone. “Perhaps he might learn from that book… or at least the person he sells it to…” 10) As you walk through the local market place a person begins to yell that Aeriel and the other patrons are weak and cruel and claims that joining Iblees is the only way to survive. *Lafthi takes notice of the man and walks up to listen for some time. There is quite the crowd gathered around the man preaching, with some of them even shaking their heads in agreement.* The man continues, “Aeriel is weak, the God she serves is weak. You saw how the undead raided and pillaged and drove us from our homes in Aegis. We could do naught but run! So what did we do in the end? We fled! Fled to Asulon! What will we do when Iblees finds his way here? Where shall we run to then? We have already fled as far as we can! Iblees is your only hope! Fall to your knees and pray for mercy, for by resisting you will have none!” *Lafthi is alarmed to see some, perhaps even a majority of the crowd fall to their knees while the man offers some prayer to Iblees. Alarmed Lafthi speaks up.* “Friends! Think about what you are doing! You are not worshipping Iblees’ because out of love, like we did with Aeriel, or any of the other patrons. No, you are worshipping out of fear! And what is this fear worship doing? You are only adding to Iblees’ power! By worshipping him you are only giving more power to the one you fear most! So friends, sink not into despair! Instead hope! Hope for the future!! Hope for your children! Hope for a new life free of Iblees and his ilk! And pray to the patrons that can give you that. Not Iblees and his fear but Aeriel and her love. A patroness worthy of your worship!” 11) A person walks up and asks you, "Why does God allow suffering to continue?" “Ah, the inevitable question. There are several theories out there each with their own merits. I am personally of the opinion that God allows suffering so that we may show who we truly are. It is easy to be a good person when all is going well. In fact, you may even want to. However, is it just as easy to when you are suffering? Nay, any true suffering inevitably damages our spirits, for a time or forever. However, we must try to stay the straight and narrow even when this is the case. However, once again, that is only my opinion.”
  20. *Lafthi walks back up to the still roaring fire after being away for several hours. He nods to Kalenz as well as the others as he takes a seat on the log that he had occupied just a few short hours before. Some might notice that he had changed into a new set of robes since he had been away and had moved his log a bit closer to the fire, into a range a bit close for comfort, given the heat of the flames. However, Lafthi stares into the fire once again, content to listen and catch up on the conversation.*
  21. "Ah, forgive my ignorance then. Well your idea is a good one. We will have to see if we can set this idea into motion."
  22. *nods, smiling, for only the second time that night* This. Ideas exactly like this are what we need. Kalenz I have not given you enough credit. For being an exceptionally young elf, I would have mistaken you for an elf of Aegis to be sure. Forgive me for my ignorance but I believe you hold some importance in the Silver City? Perhaps you are the one to set these talks in motion?
  23. "Is not the debates of a few behind closed doors what you are criticizing the council for now? No need to go into specifics but perhaps a vague idea of what you believe we should do?"
  24. "I was never good at riddles Kalenz. Speak your mind, what would you have us do?"
