  1. I know it's been awhile since we last saw one another and it's been longer still since we've had our adventures. We had a lot of fun.

That was Aegis, a special time when you needed not lore for living diamond monsters and Honeydews were constant throughout the dwarven lands. :3 (I kid, of course <3)

  4. Just a follow up, did you want me to assume evil mage instead of shade because it sounds like we've had very different RP experiences with them :P also at Uthor, if Fengric isn't supposed to do clerical apps can I get a verdict on mine? Thanks!
  5. 1)MC Name & RP Name: MC: Archoly RP: Lafthi Sylvari 2) Chosen Patron: Aeriel 3) Reason For Joining (do not have the reason be to become Ascended): In Aegis, Lafthi started out as an ambassador for Malinor, and for a time he was content. For the first time his life had purpose. He was able to not only help Malinor, but help bring peace to Aegis. However, there always came a point where Lafthi could not bring peace to Malinor. Whether that was because of forces beyond his control, such as the war-prone Orcs, or because of his own failings, there would be times when Lafthi could not bring peace to Malinor. This would rack his conscience with extreme guilt, as the blood was spilled in the wars was because of him. It was during one of these times in his life that Lafthi was approached by the Ascended. After being informed by the Sages that in his blood flowed the blood of the Aenguls, he redevoted his life to Aeriel. After many months of studying deep into the night in the hidden catacombs of Haven, training with his fellow initiates in the practice yard and countless hours in the chapel forging a special connection with Aeriel, Lafthi once again knew happiness in his life. Once he was a fully trained Ascended he walked Aegis, healing the sick, protecting the defenseless and spreading the light of Aeriel into the darkness that Iblees had attempted to cast. However, Iblees was winning. Cities were falling to the undead every day. No matter how hard the Ascended tried to work, they could not stop the onslaught that was the undead. However, everyone knows where the story goes from here. Eventually the races fled Aegis to the new land of Asulon. With their departure from Aegis, so fled the Ascended power's that Lafthi had come to depend on. No longer could he conjure the purifying flames or the healing light that he had used in Aeriel's name. However, Aeriel had helped Lafthi. Rather than simply sink into depression again he continued to spread Aeriel's light without his powers. Even though he could no longer work great acts in her name, such as purifying the soul with fire like he had used to; instead he now worked small acts in her name. He gave food to the hungry, clothed the naked, and cared to the dying. However, now that Lafthi has heard of The Clerics, he wishes to join their ranks so that he might once again follow the path of Aeriel like he once did in Aegis. 4)Race: High Elf 5)Flaws in Your Character: On the physical side Lafthi is a slightly older High Elf. This means that he is on the weaker side, physically, as compared to other races. However, it is mentally that Lafthi has his bigger weaknesses. After spending many years in a public office, Lafthi has come to be a bit paranoid. While this had actually helped him to a limited extent in some cases, it tends to put quite the strain on relationships, especially when first starting out. Rather than getting to know the person oftentimes Lafthi is searching for their motivation and how they could hurt him. 6) How long have you been on the server: I joined during the summer of 2011, but did take a few months off this year. Overall, I have been actively playing for a bit more than a year. Scenario Questions-Answer how you would react to each situation. 7) You notice an Apprentice Shade harassing a lowly citizen. [shades Are Evil Mages] Lafthi looks down an alleyway of Kal’Alras and notices what appears to be to figures up against a wall. After a brief examination Lafthi notices that one appears to be an apprentice shade that had cornered a young dwarven maid of Alras. The thought occurs to Lafthi that no master shade would send his apprentice on an actual “hit” of a target so it is more than likely that the overconfident apprentice had wanted to test his new powers, as well as earn some coin for a good time. Lafthi pulls out a small bag of coin and calls to the Shade, “It seems like you are having a bit of fun there, but perhaps taking this will save you some time?” It seems Lafthi’s assumptions were correct about the shade as he rushed by Lafthi, taking the coin and leaving the poor dwarf huddled in the corner. Lafthi lets the shade leave and addresses the young girl still huddled in the corner, “Now then miss are you alright?” 8) You see a small child shivering in the snow. Lafthi is walking his way around the countryside surrounding Holm when he hears a rustle in the bushes. The fading light of the setting sun doesn’t allow Lafthi to see what kind of game made the noise, but food is food so Lafthi unslings his bow and knocks an arrow. The small creature this time crawls out of the bushes, taking it to be a wounded artic cat or small bear, Lafthi aims and nearly releases the arrow before hearing a small cry from the small shape. Upon further inspection the “shape” turns out to be a young northerner, no more than five or six that had lost his parents on their move to Holm. Taking off his wolfskin coat and blanket from his pack he covers the boy. After starting a fire and building a small shelter in the snow for the night Lafthi is able to talk to the boy and discover where his parents were heading. Learning it is not far he makes plans to set off for the boy’s parents’ new farm in the morning. 9) You are walking down the road when a bandit stops you and threatens to kill you if you don't give him all your money and valuables. “Ah, but of course, let me simply open my pack.” Lafthi opens his pack to reveal that he is carrying three loaves of bread, a couple of apples, and a book about Aeriel, much to the thief’s dismay. As Lafthi hands over the book he comments “Perhaps you might learn a thing or two from that book? Might I help you?” The thief gives Lafthi a look of disgust and shoves his to the ground. Pushing himself up Lafthi sees that the thief is gone. “Perhaps he might learn from that book… or at least the person he sells it to…” 10) As you walk through the local market place a person begins to yell that Aeriel and the other patrons are weak and cruel and claims that joining Iblees is the only way to survive. *Lafthi takes notice of the man and walks up to listen for some time. There is quite the crowd gathered around the man preaching, with some of them even shaking their heads in agreement.* The man continues, “Aeriel is weak, the God she serves is weak. You saw how the undead raided and pillaged and drove us from our homes in Aegis. We could do naught but run! So what did we do in the end? We fled! Fled to Asulon! What will we do when Iblees finds his way here? Where shall we run to then? We have already fled as far as we can! Iblees is your only hope! Fall to your knees and pray for mercy, for by resisting you will have none!” *Lafthi is alarmed to see some, perhaps even a majority of the crowd fall to their knees while the man offers some prayer to Iblees. Alarmed Lafthi speaks up.* “Friends! Think about what you are doing! You are not worshipping Iblees’ because out of love, like we did with Aeriel, or any of the other patrons. No, you are worshipping out of fear! And what is this fear worship doing? You are only adding to Iblees’ power! By worshipping him you are only giving more power to the one you fear most! So friends, sink not into despair! Instead hope! Hope for the future!! Hope for your children! Hope for a new life free of Iblees and his ilk! And pray to the patrons that can give you that. Not Iblees and his fear but Aeriel and her love. A patroness worthy of your worship!” 11) A person walks up and asks you, "Why does God allow suffering to continue?" “Ah, the inevitable question. There are several theories out there each with their own merits. I am personally of the opinion that God allows suffering so that we may show who we truly are. It is easy to be a good person when all is going well. In fact, you may even want to. However, is it just as easy to when you are suffering? Nay, any true suffering inevitably damages our spirits, for a time or forever. However, we must try to stay the straight and narrow even when this is the case. However, once again, that is only my opinion.”
  6. Feel free to have a conversation in PMs with Kalenz. Unfortunately I can not say anything in that forum due to potential meta-gaming.
