This would depend on how our skill system build for 1.9 handles enchantments and the like. For now, we shouldn't worry about it much, because enchanting in the current beta build (1.9.4) doesn't work properly in smp in the first place. Enchanted items would affect so many other things as well i.e. shop plugin, increasing skill level with swords/axes (possibly?) etc. it is not worth worrying about until later. As for how things are affected by lore and such, what appears in this topic is, for the most part just broad ideas, since I am sure we want to save a few surprises for when the server actually updates.

(Yes, a meeting is called for, I agree. Tentatively it will be on Saturday so hopefully we can get everyone on. I will post an official thread when I get home today as to the time and all the specifics.)

As always, I serve at the behest of the dwarven nation. If that means I am appointed as king then so be it. I will strive to measure up to the fine examples my predecessors have left and attempt to lead our people to the best of my ability. Though I feel unworthy to be crowned king, I will not shirk my duty to my fellow dwarves. I lament the fact that King Algrim must step from the throne, and mourn another of our monarchs leaving, but I understand that his path now leads to greater things than leader of the dwarves. Alright, that's it. time to get to work. (I am still a bit uncertain that I will have the time the position deserves, but if I find that it is too much to take on, I will have to step down as well. Willie (Algrim) deserves the right to step down though as he is online quite a bit and I know from experience that it is not an easy thing to be the king. Anyway, I will try my best and hope its enough.)

Looks good so far! I know Lukas ((its ljcrzynfree19 btw :) )) and Omithiel are really great builders. I dont know the others, but I am sure we will have an awesome looking capitol. I'm not sure if you meant for this post to be a place for suggestions, but I wanted to give my opinion if I may. Most of my ideas I have been playing around with on my single player worlds in 1.8 mostly, so not sure how it would look using some of the 1.9 options. (I can't stand playing without a texture pack anymore lol) -lava behind either iron bars or behind nether fences to light the main hall's walls. I understand dwarves like caves and dark places and all, but I think torches would make it look too bland and glowstone when overused doesnt look good. Torches in the general areas would be ok though, just think the main hall should be majestic, you know? If not that, Omithiel has some really good carvings in Alras that could be made using this lava method, I think it would look good and have the added benefit of lighting up the hall. -Algrim had what I thought was a good idea for petrified trees in a city we worked on before. I'm thinking we could just make a large tree using native's excellent guide as a reference. If we used mossy cobble for the leaves and stone for the trunk and branches, we could make a cool looking one i think. We'd have to mess with it a bit I think though to make it look good, but it might be a good RP source. You know, have the dwarves life force tied into it, it grows with more dwarves being "born" on the server etc. I dunno, just a thought. -I really like the gatehouse, and use of the stronghold stone, but maybe a few blocks here and there of the crumbling or mossy stronghold stone? Just to give it a bit more character. I do understand if you want to make those places look well kept though, since these places would be a priority for the dwarves to keep maintained. Thats just my 2 cents, but I think you have some great builders backing you up, so I'm not at all worried if you guys dont use or like my ideas. If I get the chance, I'll take some screenies of what I have in my world to show what I mean if the ideas are liked :)

High Council check fer activeness.
chefbrando replied to williewonka01's topic in Aegis Roleplay Archive
My apologies milord fer not bein in Kal'urguan as of late. I 'ave been searchin the lands fer ores and the like fer our kingdom. ((Unfortunately my timezone means that by the time I'm on during the week, not many of the high council or you willie are on. I've been around helping dwarves, mostly with the poor housing, when I am on,and try to come on a bit earlier on the weekends. Plus I am going on a vacation soon, so I've been working late to make sure my coworkers dont fall apart when I'm gone :P)) -
Pikel Boldshoulder, I would accept you but I do not know enough about the Golden Harvest and I do not want a conflict of interest. I am not making it a rule YET, but if you already belong to an organization ((includes clans and current jobs)) you have to convince me their intentions are pure ((that they work for the betterment of Kal'Urguan specifically, Aegis generally and not for personal gain or with evil intentions.)) if I do not already know of them. -Gotrek Firemane

Currently accepted applicants: Thrym Deepdelver Heibe Irongut Zack Bravo Bavragor Ironmaw Rookie Grimbeard RG Nuallain Caomhanach Ranks in guild To be determined ((when skills are working:P)) And thanks to the Blackaxe and Irongut clans for their support ((any other applicants weren't accepted is because they either didn't fill out the application correctly, or haven't found me in game.))

*You see a gruff looking dwarf nail a scroll to the wall of Kal'Urguan* *As you look closer, you see it is covered in dwarven runes with the following message* Hail to you all my dwarven brothers and sisters. I am known to some as Gotrek Firemane, Grand Master Smith of Kal'Urguan. And I have a few question for you... Have you felt the fire of the forge heating your blood? Is the sound of a hammer striking an anvil music to your ears? Do you wish for the power to enforce justice or avenge the wronged? Then perhaps this message is for you. In these dangerous times the people of Aegis are surrounded by danger. Undead roam the night, as do bandits and thieves wishing to take what you value most. The Ascended do what they can, but they will not prevail alone. For that reason I have decided to create a guild that will be founded on the principles I know best. The Art of the blacksmith This is my plan for the guild and our goals and responsibilities. The Dwarven Blacksmith Guild Our main goal will be the protection of the innocent and the preservation of our dwarven nation. It is my belief that to do this means to forge strong weapons and armor and find even stronger willed folk to wield them. Any dwarf who joins this guild will be responsible for finding ores, forging them, and making sure that there use is in the name of justice. Whether that means using it themselves, equipping the honorable guards and members of the dwarven army, or even venturing out to supply the other nations of Aegis with the means to fight evil. What follows will be the ranks in this guild, and some of the duties they are responsible for. Grand Master Smith: Guild Master and overall leader of the Smiths. The direction the guild takes is his decision by order of the king. High Warsmith: The lieutenants of the Grandmaster, they are his council, and masters of their craft. They may lead the Smiths into battle if it is appropriate, and they are responsible for repairs that need to be done on the field of battle. They will also excel in combat. One is master of the sword, to teach those who wish to learn the subtly of the blade, one a master of the crossbow, to teach us of far-ranged combat, and one is master of the axe, the most difficult skill to master, but the most powerful. They are also well versed in the aspects of war magic that burns in the blood of all dwarves. High Craftersmith: Equal in importance to the High Warsmiths, though they have different responsibilities. Their role is to organize the acquiring of the ores and materials the Smiths rely on. This may include sending other Smiths to distant lands to mine, or even to find shops where a fair price can be found. Though they are relied upon mostly for gathering, they are also responsible for the distribution of the goods we produce. Be that selling armor to worthy allies, or supplying our own stout-hearted army and guards. Regardless, they are smiths themselves and can create strong armor and powerful weapons as well. Warsmith: The guards and soldiers of the smith guild, few in number, but potent warriors. They answer to the high masters of the guild, most especially the High Warsmiths. Though they are only recently proven as blacksmiths, they are more than capable fighters and are expected to fight in the name of justice and guard those who need help. If called upon by the Lord Marshall or King, they are expected to obey as if they were members of the army or guard respectively. In the end their loyalty is to the dwarven nation as a whole, followed closely by their vows to their guild. Any Smith may call upon their aid if asked to venture away from the safety of the kingdom, whether it be for the selling or delivery of goods, or the acquisition of more supplies for the guild. Craftersmith: Only recently elevated from apprentices, they are on equal footing as the Warsmiths. They are responsible for the gathering of materials necessary for the guild to survive and thrive. The mining or buying of ores, the selling and deliver of arms and armor, it can be argued that without them, the guild would not survive. Nominally under the command of the guild, they also take orders from the High Merchant as well. Theirs is tedious work, but can also be the most rewarding as well. Though they are not expected to fight, if they feel the need to, they are more than willing to be in the front line of any conflict. Smith Apprentice: New members of the Guild, they have yet to prove themselves in the eyes of the guild masters. There tasks be many, but they know that the rewards are greater the more hardships they endure. They have yet to pick a path in the guild, but are knowledgeable in most aspects of blacksmithing. Honored Warsmith/Craftersmith/Apprentice: Each High Warsmith, High Craftersmith, and even the Grand Master may pick a successor to learn by his side. They are the right hand of the high council and should the dark day ever come that they fall in combat or die of age, their apprentice would assume their title and duties once they have proven themselves. If you wish to join our fledgling guild, please write a letter with your intent ((post below)) With your name ((mc and rp)), your abilties and skills ((skill levels for blacksmithing etc.)), and your reason ((character reason)) for joining.(( Please DO NOT apply for a certain position, that will be decided in game)) ((This is a work in progress and there is still a lot of info about the guild that needs explaining both in character, and out. Constructive input would be appreciated.))

Hail te ye lord. I be a dwarf who bought a home in whisper quite a while ago, when it was first bein' expanded. I built the entire house me self, and magically locked ((lwc)) all the chests. I went by te collect everythin, but I don' 'ave yer blessing ((permissions)) te do so. I 'ave te assume ye kennae get the items either. When would be a good time te find ye te get me stuff? ((My time zone is Hawaii standard, so its hard to come on when everyone else is on)) Also, are ye levelin the entire area? If so, I'd like te tear down the buildin on me own te get the materials back. If not, that be fine too. Thank ye fer yer time, -Gotrek -
Kings Announcement: Re-filling High Council Positions
chefbrando replied to skinner452's topic in Aegis Roleplay Archive
Minecraft name: chefbrando IGN name Gotrek Applying for: Grand Master Smith Bio: Find my book in game, or find me on the server and ask me to tell the story ;) The short story is i am currently a dwarf smith in outer Kal 'Urguan. Ideas: If I am made the Grand Master Smith, I would organize a kind of guild of smiths who's jobs it would be to collect precious metals and gather it to be smelted and fashioned into armor and weapons for the dwarves. The Dwarven army, would of course receive armor for free, and could buy "enchanted" armor for a discounted price. We would also sell our wares to the other nations and towns allowing us to make minas, and help support the kingdom. If necessary, I would also petition the king for us to create another city for dwarves alone where we could mine, smelt, and create more treasures. We would also hopefully have a kind of smith guard who would protect our wandering smiths and support the dwarf army in battle. Now for the reality check. I realize that until dwarven magic is implemented, smiths would basically be miners collecting ores and the like for money. Even when magic is introduced, the position of Grand master smith would basically be the dwarven equivalent of their race's high mage, and from what i understand, we would have to join a guild to "legally" use magic in the first place, and our dwarf high mage is chosen for us, not by us. Most of what i hear is rumors i admit, it possibly won't be that way. My plan is, if magic does happen the way i think it will, my dwarf guild would basically be "rogue" dwarf wizards but still loyal to the throne. Yes, collecting ores would be boring at first, but when smiths are able to create higher durability armor and weapons (basically enchanted items in my opinion) we would make money in the long run as the dwarves are the only race able to do this. And as magic experience is gained, better and better items can be created meaning more money and therefore helping the economy of the entire world. Anyway, that's my ideas, and i hope you'll consider me for the position. Thank you all for your time. -
-Minecraft account name: Chefbrando -How old are you?: 30 -Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Hawaii-Aleutian time zone/USA (specifically Hawaii) -Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes -Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I love video games, rpg's especially, and i cant get enough minecraft! The vanilla is great, but i love the aspects that lord of the craft is trying to build on, and i am eager to see if it is as fun to play as it looks. -How much time could you be on the server weekly?: Between work and sleep, I'd say at least 21-30 hours a week. More if i'm on a project. -How long have you played minecraft?: Since January 2011 -What do you know about roleplaying? How long have you been doing it? What kind?: Wow, uh ever since i was a kid been interested in roleplaying. A LOT of books, played Magic: the gathering, warhammer, tons of games ranging from the tabletop to the desktop. My characters skin is actually based off some stories i've read. -What do you expect this server will be like?: Just really hoping it adds to the awesomeness of Minecraft. From what I've seen, it looks really great, and hopefully not many griefers out there. -What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: Only played on an Anarchy server once just to get the feel of lag and framerate issues and such of playing online. -Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules? What about the lore?: yep, and i cant wait to add my story to it. -Name the 4 races on this server. Humans, Dwarfs, Elves and Orcs. But i hear the undead are coming soon :) -How did you hear about us?: youtube. PotatoOrgy and Breny are hilarious. -What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name?: chefbrando In-Character: -Character Name: Gotrek -What is your Race?: Dwarf -Lordofthecraft.net/forum forum account: chefbrando -Biography: As a younger dwarf, Gotrek had a family and did many things in his youth to provide for them. Mining, blacksmithing, farming, he tried many things and excelled at them, but was never really happy with his profession. Then, one day monsters came to his village while he was away and slaughtered his entire clan. Coming home to the smoking rubble that was once his home, he swore vengeance on all the evil that shrouded the land and promised himself that he would do everything in his power to make sure no one would feel the pain that he now carries with him. He ventures the land, slaying all evil he can, secretly hoping that he will one day die fighting a great evil, just so he can see his family again. -Character Age: uh, i guess the dwarf equivalent of around 40 -Character Appearance: fiery red hair, eye patch, tattoos on his body for mystic protection. -Character Personality: taciturn, stubborn and gruff, but if you earn his respect, he would go to the nether to save your life. -Your ambitions: Someone posted in the forums about forming a monster hunting and i like the idea. Once i establish myself a bit in the game, i hope to make a clan for all the races who go out monster hunting, and come home to a base somewhere to get rewarded. Thinking things like naming the jobs of the different races in the clan, ie dwarfs are slayers, humans trappers, elves hunters etc. havent figured out a reward system yet, need a better handle on the games mechanics and economy. Also members would help out newer players if this is the path they want to follow, and get them established as well. Ambitious i know, but i am hoping for good things. -Can your character read or write?: Yes, but his job doesnt really require it :) -Can your character mine?: Like a dwarf! -Are you a capable builder?: If my ideas bear fruit, oh yes indeed. -Can you wield a sword?: swords are for sissies. would prefer a warhammer or ax. -Enjoy Farming?: can if needed, but brings back memories of his family. -Does your character have any special skills?: a well versed fighter, he became self sufficient traveling on his own, and can repair his own gear or forage when needed. also an excellent tracker. -A screenshot of your skin: http://i56.tinypic.com/301k41x.png -Other Information: I think ive written too much already :P
