  1. Honestly, I thought both maps were great, but maybe you could take the most liked parts of them both and combine them in the new one. One of the things liked about aegis (At least for me anyway, and I lived right off it) was the king's road. Having a large, well maintained high way connecting the realms was quite frankly awesome. One of the major complaints though were that you could walk from one end of it, to the other, and potentially through all 4 racial kingdoms, in 10 minutes. Asulon had a much larger travel time. But then new players who never knew aegis came along and went 'omg, wtf why i walk 20 min to go 1/4 way across map? this sux' and so rapid travel came into play, with horses and ships. That's just one aspect though, I could write 10 pages about the maps. I would suggest a kings-like-road in 3.0 which was well maintained, populated at points, and ran to all the kingdoms, maybe put the travel time somewhere halfway between aegis and asulon. Also, keep the neat hidden stuff asulon had, like the dungeons and puzzles and things. I had the time of my life exploring in asulon, like that old crypt lookin thing with the 'ye olde mine' 1 way exit that was northeast of the cloud temple, or that massive tree with the awesome puzzle that was over near menorcress. That blew my f'kin mind. Whomever made that needs a 'Master of Minecraft' title or something... anyway, before I ramble more on all the neat things i've seen on both maps i'd love to see on the third, i'll be wandering off. Good luck with what you decide to do. I'll certainly poke in once or thrice to wander a bit.
  2. I'm missing diamond donator. I didn't really care back when I was FM but after being ungraciously tossed out of that (and never having been able to see the "VIP-blade" before then anyhow), I think proper recognition, and a light blue tag is in order...
  3. I was coming here to say i'm overjoyed that you had returned, but then the first thing I hear is some conflict where you've decided to leave again (this time non-forced) over it.

I admit the world hasn't been the same without you, and when I scanned the old news posts and saw that, I was briefly bolstered.

I wish you all the luck, but hope you would consider co...

  4. *scribbles under the note* Near cloud temple. Can take care of yer entire order. Look fer me sometime. No dents or dings either... ~T.Z.
  5. www.leagueoflegends.com Here's a great distra......time-sink to fritter away your hours with until the server comes back up.
  6. My vote is 'better than nothing'. My feedback is, what happens if people buy so much stuff, or you sell expensive items (A set of diamond armor comes to mind) and people make it so your bank has more than 10k in it? Extra minas vanish next reboot?
  7. If you thought downloading it was bad, it takes the game like 2 hours to convert it to anvil afterwards.... ....any chance we there's a savefile somewhere BEFORE the entire planet was destroyed? The cloud temple is in ruins, everywhere is blasted trees, disintegrated towns... I knew my way around aegis and I literally couldn't find my way from whispering isles to laurelin with how exploded everything is. Also all the towns covered in lava and soul sand and death and stuff makes me sad. I can't just fire it up on singleplayer and say "This is where we used to play" to people I have over.
  8. I can see your point... I was viewing this at the OTHER end of the spectrum. If years were IRL months, then I could have a character for 2-3 REAL years before he'd grow infirm and be too old for much action, but if you were RPing an infant, having to wait an ACTUAL 6 months-year to 'play' them might annoy some folks, sure.
  9. ....No, it's not... NO, IT'S NOT. That's what I WANTED, what I asked for. *facedesk**facedesk* I even posted this in the poll thread... let me dig it up. Please don't tell me that the people agreeing with me, failed to read that tidbit, and voted for "A 60 minute day/night cycle" when they actually wanted to vote for "a 60 minute day cycle, a 60 minute night cycle" Any chance we could have this poll again? If the majority who voted for a 60 minute cycle, thought they were voting for 60 minutes for day AND 60 minutes for night, then I think this needs to be addressed!! NEW POLL: I put it up since nobody else was. Please participate in this poll if you voted '60m' in yesterday's time poll... https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/68959-unofficial-time-poll-v20-redux/
  10. *twirls a single finger in the air* *mutters a no-hearted 'yaaaay' to nobody* Well, I wanted a foot... and I got an inch... Better than nothing I suppose. *Snarfs down his breakfast, grabs his gear, and sprints out of the inn. Instead of it being dark, it's late afternoon instead* Small steps.... small steps.... maybe they'll see the light another day...
  11. Around 5000 or so minas worth of gold, maybe a bit less in iron. I'm able to mine and refine iron myself, but gold and diamonds are beyond me.
  12. I am interested in acquiring some of your gold and maybe some of your iron. The prices are lower than those that I have found (200/gold 20/iron) in my travels around the lands. I'm trying not to keep much cash on me since my deaths cost me a large portion of my money on hand. Please contact me here, or purrhaps I shall run into you in asulon, I tend to haunt the areas closest to the cloud temple. ~Tray-zee-air
  13. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Aaaallright then... nevermind...happy trails and such.
  14. My unbiased opinion is that things just got out of hand and snowballed out of control. I was never in to the day-to-day operations/finances of the server, but I can say that Availer WAS a bit of a hardass at times. To some, that was part of his charm though. I personally liked the guy, and I attributed any snark to him either being tired of dealing with negative folk, or just not having the best of days. In game, he popped by my shop a couple times, he was often around alkhazar and winterfell, it just felt good to have him around. I know it's likely impossible, but I sure would love to have those old days back. See Availer running around and RPing again in the new world, but it seems like nerves are too frayed on both ends for there ever to be an amicable end to this. In the end, it's still mostly hurt feelings and he-said she-said. Availer was mad to see HIS project/thing/cash cow stripped away from him. Vaq was mad to see what he had put so much time and effort into coding being driven into the ground by a mostly absent 'boss'. Not to throw out rodney king here, but can't we all just get along?
  15. Here, I found the post. Call it double posting but I already edited my original a couple times, and I don't think one post should be 2 pages long. I daresay (and I hope to see this fixed!) it looks like these new donation packages rebranded the bedrock donator plot as something else (at 150% the cost), and shrunk the current bedrock size by half! Currently (under these new rules) a bedrock donator basicly gets over a diamond donator (for twice the price) an extra 10x10 on their plot, a few more mindless NPCs, another /setsoul location, and a new rainbow VIP tag... That just doesn't look right. My opinion (asked of me or not) is that bedrock should go BACK to 100x100. This new ender plot should be 150x150, and this new aether plot should be 250x250. I'm just going on simple math here using plot size as the 'main perk'. Ender would cost $100 over bedrock, and the plotsize would be a bit bigger than if you had just a diamond and just a bedrock side by side, then the new aether rank, which costs 200 over ender, would have an extra 100x100, which is (was?!?) the current bedrock plot size. In square sizes though, two 50x50 would be half as big as a 100x100 Is that a 'pay to access' server? I don't get this whole 'reserve a slot for 1 month... reserve a slot for 3 months.... reserve a slot for life' you copypasted.
  16. Hey, where are you getting these numbers from? I'm just curious. Also, the reason this server still runs, is when availer bankrupted the place, grabbed all the cash he could and ran for the hills, VAQ stepped up (with his own MC hosting company) and moved the server there. That very well coulda been the end of LotC. I still fear for the server the day Vaq decides he's had enough and moves on. Believe me, if he says the coin is running low and the server needs it, he's not just bullshitting you so he can pick up a pair of $500 shoes with 'bought by teh suckas' written on the side. And on the side of the page "Wanted goal: $60,000" and when I clicked on it, they were like $80 short. I don't know if that's per month or just in general, but 59 THOUSAND, NINE HUNDRED dollars in donations? With such perks as 'do anything you want' 'spawn anything you want' 'turn into any creature or whatever' 'change the time of day'. That's pay to win, and i'm sure it's not so great out there when it's a pvp server and someone who paid some money can run up /godmode on, and slay you. I think the perks and donations here are what they were intended to be. Small, non-game breaking perks and benefits. Which GMs? I mean, I know you're the lead coder/plugin guy and an admin, so if you said "ME" that would have to be an acceptable answer... ...however, when Shift put out his big 'new map rules and FAQs and stuff' one of the things he mentioned was plot sizes. In it I SPECIFICALLY remember reading that bedrock donators get a 100x100 plot. And it also stated that two diamond donators (who get a 40x40 plot) can combine their perks and get a shared 100x100 bedrock plot among themselves. Why do I remember this so much? Because I remember one of those nitpicking types coming by and saying "But 100x100 is WAY MORE than two 40x40! It's more than FOUR TIMES AS BIG!!!!!!!!". Could someone please tell me when bedrock was changed from 100x100 to 50x50? I know i spent a couple weeks away, but I didn't think i'd miss something as monumental as this... I just noticed now that the "New" 300$ perk was.... the old $200 bedrock 100x100 plot.
  17. Interesting. My only 'meh' part was how the new 'super awesome power of the land' was described. (i.e. Gold level!!!; YOU CAN DIG FOR DIAMONDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) you'd be unable to get those items with that perk, unless you also went ahead and leveled up your excavation also. I really don't have a big issue with these, but the 'omg pay2win' crowd i'm sure will be up in arms over this. I'll admit it's tempting though. a 200x200 plot of land? 4 50x50 plots? I could be some sorta diplomatic type and open up an inn/shop in every province if I wanted to. That's kinda awesome.
  18. Eh.... Compute some math formula. X=number of people who've already donated 500+, and Z=number of people who've donated 400+. If the diff between the two would exclude more then Y number of people from the 500 rank who were close, but would need to add onto their 400 to reach it, then yeah, kick it down to 400 so they can enjoy it too. Algebra is hard! This was just a semi-joke too at start...
  19. Kind of wish my questions had garnered some kind of response, but I guess i'm not that important... ...i'll be sure to bring extra weapons on my trek through orc lands on the way to my home in the northern wilds, since it seems like every orc I encounter is going to demand 500+ minas, my gear, or all my food, none of which I intend to give up without a fight... What if all your potential customers decided instead it would be easier to rob you for 'tribute' because of some 'new orc rules' being bandied about? how 'bout that, eh? I was never one for much violence, but if that is going to be the new currency of trading in orc lands/travelling to my home in the north....SO BE IT!
  20. Are you insane? Your first comment is just off the scale. Also, YOU WEREN'T WEARING YOUR ARMOR, did you not even read what I said? You died to one arrow and one slash. Imagine a hostage situation IRL, now imagine a hostage taker getting shot in the side. Now imagine instead of a little bullet, it's a big ol' arrow. The impact alone is going to stun them, and basicly collapse them on the wound, and then someone is feet away ready to jump in. That's how it played out in my mind. I just didn't expect you to curl up and die from 2 hits, but then again, you weren't wearing anything. P.S. "Sent you a message" sorry, I had to take note of that.
  21. What's the thing against bowing anyway? Some cultures (notebly human) have done it as a greeting and/or sign of respect, but what's the orc feelings against it stem from? What's this mean? Also, this one. What about travelling traders? Mercenaries? People cutting through 'orc lands' on the way to their home in the wilds to the north? Are there going to be some common sense exemptions to these rules, or is every person ever entering expected to bring mountains of treasure.. er..tribute, for the orcs they encounter? Previous deeds count? I think I remember you being there when me an' Arkensald brought a bakeryload of bread to Sanhar back in aegis. True, back then it was just us trying to help every nation prepare for the undead, but if it could work for me in asulon, might as well inquire...
  22. As a friend, and a person of sense, I would recommend against this. Just the other day some masked man was in Alras where I was having dinner, and I didn't think much of it until I heard him talking to another person, and I heard him ask the first person if he'd 'ever heard of the merry men'. That piqued my interest as you had spoken to me about perhaps forming a group under that name. I guess he and the man went off to discuss some stuff (yes, I could hear their chat but I RP as not being able to hear non-shouted conversations made out of my view). A short while later, the masked man has this fella out on the balcony, where he's screaming that he's going to slit his throat unless a ransom of 19 iron ingots were delivered in 1 minute. I shouted back up (as I heard him out on the balcony) how one was supposed to come up with such a ransom inside 60 seconds, and his reply was to buy them from one of the stores. The stores were selling them for 50 minas, but honestly, 1950 was at the time more then I had, and was absolutely WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more than i'd pay to rescue some random stranger. If he had asked for 50, or maybe 100, or even for me to cover the bar tab, I would've considered. Drastic measures were going to be required. I headed upstairs with a dwarf who heard the shouting from the street. The masked man kept his hostage in front of him while negotiating with the dwarf. We had a few whispers at which point I tossed him a bow and half a dozen arrows, and he took to the street and confronted the masked man from down below. I crept forward from my hiding spot and saw that he had his back to me, as he was yelling at the now archer dwarf down below. I had the perfect opportunity to backstab. ((I'll also point out that at the onset of this, the guy he was robbing said he had 5 minutes before he had to go to school and he(masked man/divinusxiphowever he spells it) said 'ok this'll only take about 3'. I thought how could I advance the RP scene but allow this guy who has to go a chance to duck out?)) I decided instead to order him to drop his weapon. He spun around to face me (his hostage doing so as well, nice touch there) and decline, only now he had an archer at his back. The archer ordered him to drop his weapon as well. He decided to press the knife into the throat of the hostage, and when he did so an arrow came flying up and hit him squarely. Just in case it wasn't a mortal injury but before he could move to stab the hostage, I lept forward and took a slash at him, shoving away the victim. I had intended to then alert the authorities, but all he did was mutter some curses and quickly bleed out. ...you could imagine my surprise when I took the mask off and found it to be this fella before the monk brigade came huphuphuphuphupping in to cart off the slain. I don't know if a leadership position would be appropriate, but that's just from my encounter. You may feel differently and even run a different operation than I would. ((And i'd like to point out he was needlessly douchey afterwards. Had a 10 min bitchfest with me in tells saying how it was powergaming that I killed him, and he had the hostage in front of him and everything else.... He totally ignored the points I made, 1: that if he has an opponent in front of him AND behind him, it doesn't matter where he positions a hostage, he's open to an attack by the unguarded one. 2: AND the point that the guy he was robbing was a schoolkid who needed to get going, AND the RP could've continued.... But apparantly, the only way he wanted it scripted from the beginning, was this younger fella got to go to school only when he'd had his throat slit and Mr. masked man then said he could go! 3: If he dies from one arrow and one sword slash, maybe he should wear his armor. I found a set of leather on him even though he wasn't wearing anything but his skin during the 'robbery'. That's it. I know I mentioned this to you briefly when I heard he was part of your group, but having read that he's SECOND IN COMMAND I felt like I had to point out this encounter, and also say i'd certainly not be interested in joining any group that had me in a subordinate position to a feeb like this.))
  23. Oh my goodness, is all I thought when reading that. Someone started an infamous 'Perks are lame' thread a while ago, but being able to set multiple points to soulstone to is crazy. Home city I work in and secret wilds base? Yes please!
