  1. Jobs have a quantifiable investment cost (training, paying wages with no return, turning away other applicants, etc.) alongside bureaucracy/administration time which costs even more money. This makes it unfeasible to interview and hire people for a short period just for them to bail (hence why contractors exist).

On LOTC there's no limit on how many GM's can exist and they don't get paid so it really doesn't matter if people flake quickly. Of course if the person leaves on bad terms or just plain screws up thats pretty solid ground to not reinvite them.

The best gms tend to burn out quick anyways. I know freema has been GM like 3-4 times but he's always really good at the job and leaves on what I believe are good terms.

  2. I can't say I know Wiseacres that well from a personal perspective, but from what I have experienced secondhand in the skype chat she (used) to administrate for the female role-players of Oren (lol freya a woman xd) , as well as her forum posts and ingame attitude, she seems like a good fit for a moderating role on LOTC. She knows when to let people have fun whilst still drawing the line become things go too far. In particular I see that much of the feedback and opinions she gives align well with LOTC's stated ethos, in particular; taking a hard line on curbing memes / toxicity, wanting to provide entertaining, non-exclusive events for the playerbase, and overall wanting to promote good, cooperative behavior between players, no matter their IC/OOC allegiances.

However, in terms of the bad. Wiseacres is very stubborn when it comes to things she believes she's right about, and can refuse to back down / give ground or leeway when she thinks people are in the wrong. This isn't really a bad trait (and will be tempered when part of a team that decides things democratically), just one that needs to be worked on if and when she is selected for GM.

As for her fitting into the GM team, I can compare her to ski_king - she can give the GM's a good face within the community, and could handle GM tasks well whilst working in the background. However, unlike ski_king, I can see her sometimes being a little overzealous... although with how lax the moderation team feels at the moment, someone who doesn't mind swinging the hammer when called to it (much like how combustionary is the GM team's grim reaper on call) could be just what the GM team needs. Also, she's really quite active despite what I can only conduce is a busy life from what she's said in the past.

Overall i'd give her an 8-and-a-bit/10. It'll be nice to have a girl on the team that can give a positive impression. I don't really post on GM apps properly very often so consider this my stamp of approval. +1

  3. The best kind of antagonist is the one that could have been you in another scenario. An antagonist you can justify and somewhat sympathize with, if it wasn't you vs. them. Something like a barbarian nation fleeing their homeland, or a pirate nation who have been forced ashore by a fierce leviathan below the waves, and have taken to conquest to sustain their need for a land and home. Maybe they could be made up of players, but supported by melee/archer-based mobs in war claims and for defending their holdings. Perhaps they speak a different language, but could feasibly listen to reason, or maybe players could infiltrate them...

Just so much better than beaten-the-horse-so-much-its-basically-glue cliche of dark forces.

  4. When are GMs going to take an active role in moderating the server without being afraid their reputation will degrade.

    Also

    • Is there any storyline actually happening right now? I feel like the four races are going to descend into MAD unless something else keeps them occupied.
    • Is Vailor 5.0 or 4.5???

That's all I can think of right now.

Why did Felsen get LC to build their capital while nobody else can? I'd very much like LC also.

    FTFY

Also nation capitals always get LC.

  5. LoTC In General:

What do you like about LoTC?

    The lore and the history.

What do you dislike about LoTC?

    The cliques.

What is something LoTC needs to do more of?

    Having fun.

    What should LoTC do less?

    Memes.

What did you like specifically about previous maps?

Aegis - how chilled the community was, how little people cared about builds, only about rp and having fun (and trolling)

Asulon - more serious in depth rp, not so much the edginess of some rp and rp fighting when people don't know how to do it properly

    Anthos - the awesome builds

I can't even remember the 4.0 map's name so thats how notable it was.

What would be interesting to see in a future map?

    Some more interesting biomes.

What keeps you coming back to the server?

    My addiction.

    Events and Interaction:

    Does LoTC need an antagonist?

Yes, otherwise a part of the playerbase becomes a punching bag and ends up leaving.

Do you think LoTC needs more incentive to explore?

Yes. 75% of our current map probably never sees any use since it's basically DayZ wasteland.

Do you think the server’s players need to work together more?

    Holy **** yes.

    Plugins and Development:

What do you think of the skill plugin? Rate the skills plugin on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being your dream plugin that meets every element beyond expectations.

    7. It's ok but has room for improvement and needs some serious rebalancing and maybe something to reduce powercreep and how useless new players are with it. ALSO ADD MORE LITTLE THINGS TO MAKE!

What plugins do you think the developers need to work on?

    Magic.

Do you feel there are any plugins that you directly interact with that should be changed?

No, but the forums could use some fixing.

EDIT: Drake sums it up. Server is on life support, everything OOC not RP nowadays.

  6. Having a black sheep who refuses to go along with the crowd is often a good person to have on a team (so a leader does not get an inflated/unassailable ego when nobody ever disagrees with them), but that, what I can only frankly call "arsehole" trait needs to be used in moderation. If you want to be a forum moderator, you do need to be a friendly face to those who need it.

    +1

Damai would read the paper a bit confused ""Who does he mean by we could win a war against blah blah blah?"

Elizabeth, on her visit, sees a man talking to his empty hands. "Are you okay?" she asks.

"llir, you are addressing Damai the Fearless, please do not question this man's integrity." Artimec said through a stern gaze at the dark elf.

"Then tell us, Damai, what do you see with your Elven eyes?" Elizabeth says in a jovial manner. "Also, Artimec - compliments to you, Laureh'lin is livelier than ever. On a side note, is the Prince feeling better yet? I need to discuss some things with him when he has recuperated."
