  1. After reading the letter from the young Grand King candidate, Durack would recline against the tavern wall with his feet somewhat propped up on the table. As he finishes it, he would let out an audible "Mmmmm". In his mind, this would be the perfect deal to take, since he just wants to take as much treasure as he could before giving to the Kingdom, even though that idea still pained him greatly.

Though none would see it, he would be drooling under his beard.

As he went back to reality, he would fold the letter up and would store it in his beard for later. This would definitely be of use to him.

"Yer doin' et nuh doe....",quietly chuckles Durack as he hears the fanatical Dwarf yell inside the tavern.

  3. Durack Goldhand could be seen sitting in his usual spot in the tavern and listens in on the speech. Though he is not a lover of politics, he recognizes that slandering should be at least support with truth.

"Fawken politics... whoi oi 'ate em. Leas' ah go' mo'e info'mation 'bout dis ol' Dwarf. T'ough 'e did ruin moi uhn plans ove greed, ah'll jus' guh wiff teh system fo' now. 'slong as ah can 'old treasure ehn moi 'ands, ah'll beh 'appeh."

  5. Durack would hear of this speech and sit back in the tavern.

After watching his fellow clan mate and senator, Conan, nominate Ziko, he wanders why he would do so, while at the same time, doesn't really care. Durack's only stake in this is that he choose someone who he would think offer more for his upcoming expedition and future ones.

He could taste the discovery and treasures, reveling in the dreams he wish would come true. Until the other candidate mentions anything of exploration and treasure hunting, he would submit his vote for this dwarf, Kardel.

    [The Goldhand Seal]

13th of The Grand Harvest, 1550

    The Kingdom of Urguan

From the Tavern Table of Durack Goldhand

"To the leaders of the Dwarven Kingdom, I, Durack Goldhand, son of Finian Goldhand, now the new Clan Father of the Goldhand clan, go to you with a simple request,

    Fund my expedition.

I understand this is blunt with no explanation, but it's simple. I wish for the Kingdom to fund a Goldhand expedition, give or take a few Legion warriors, to excavate the frozen crater that lies south of the capital. In my grand plan to reform the Goldhand clan as those of Treasure Hunters and Scholars of the earth, where we were born from. Of course, I hold no money due to just arriving in the capital quite some time ago and not taking up an odd job. Which is why I propose a Goldhand trade for your assistance. This trade would be made in person to seal this deal if looked upon favorably. If not, then I can very well do things my way and go elsewhere.

I trust that you all will look favorably on this and look forward to a deal that could be struck between us all."

9th of The Grand Harvest, 1550

    Grand Kingdom of Urguan

As of this day, may all know of the new Goldhand reformation.

Durack Goldhand, son of Goldhand revivalist Finian Goldhand, has taken the reigns of the clan and seeks to bolster them as they were many tears ago.

Durack Goldhand sees that, even though the Goldhands are known as merchants, their greed could be used elsewhere. During his time as a traveler with his brothers and sisters, the idea of grand discovery and relics of ages past were of both great importance and great wealth.

It is on this day that Durack Goldhand, changes the perspective of the clan to that of Archaeology and history, hoping to provide wealth to his clan and to the Kingdom.

Those who wish to take part in this reformation of Goldhand, may look to Durack for guidance.

Goldhands of new and old may seek entry into this new clan, with that of discovery and riches in mind, for the first expedition, with the Grand King's blessing, is being planned.

Durack Goldhand is open to all forms of communication relating to the Goldhands, and welcomes those who agree with his goals.

    ----------------------------

[ So in short, Goldhands are reforming into that of Archaeologists. My plan is to bring events and such to the Dwarves in a more easy and dignified manner than what we had before. Thank you for your time. ]

The Goldhand Clan is at its core a family of merchants. Those with Goldhand blood have long been amongst the best and most successful vendors in the Dwarven realm, but the clan is not limited to just merchants. The clan includes accomplished architects, soldiers, political leaders, and treasure hunters.

Distinguished as a Noble Clan for their accomplishments and long standing support of the Dwarven Nation, Goldhands are proud of their lineage. The blood-bond within the clan is incredibly strong and Goldhands look out for their family members and are willing to fight ferociously for their honor.

As of Vailor, the Goldhands have completely reformed into that of discovery and treasure hunting. The new aged Goldhands see that the profit that comes from unearthing relics and tombs outweighs those of standing behind stalls and traveling roads peddling goods.

    =Laws of The Clan=

To a Goldhand the Clan is everything.

    • The Goldhands take this to heart. Each individual member will pass on, that is the way of the world. But the Clan stands strong and does not fade with time. As such no betrayal of the Clan will be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to: stealing from the Clan, killing another Clan mate, dishonoring the ancestors, failing to acknowledge direct orders from the Clan leaders. In addition betraying the Dwarven nation is highly frowned upon and may mark the offending Dwarf as a sworn enemy of the Clan.

    • Any oath sworn in blood is binding and cannot be broken without expulsion from the Clan. Such oaths should never be undertaken lightly. Similarly, any oath sworn on one’s ancestors carries the same weight as a blood oath and should not be broken.

    • Disputes between Clan members are brought to the Clan leader or older Clans members immediately. Arguments and disagreements will be solved without going to an outside source unless absolutely necessary.

    • All Clans-mates must respect one another. We are all related by blood. Remember to respect your elders. They’ve lived longer than you, and certainly have more knowledge stored away then you might give them credit for.

We fight as we have always fought.

    |=/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\==/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\=/=\=|

    Traditions:

    Note:

As of Athera, the traditions have changed under Finian Goldhand, for he has forgotten them, and no one has stepped up to present him with the ways of the old Goldhand. He has taken it upon himself to conduct these traditions to what he believes is right from his memory.

    Trials:

There are no trials for the Goldhands. You either contain the blood of Tungdil himself or you are bloodbonded to someone who does. No trials are set in stone to prove your honor or worth. Instead your deeds for the clan will mark you as a valued and honorable Clans-mate. Your deeds may lead to the Presentation of the Coin ceremony.

    Coin Ceremony:

This is a rare ceremony performed only when the Clan leader sees fit. Its goings on are secret and known only to the Clan leader and those who have been a part of the ceremony. Every Goldhand strives to, at some time in his or her life, take part in this ceremony.

    Blood Oath of Trading

The Blood Oath of Trading has been done since the founding of the Goldhands, though, has not officially been known. As of the reformation of the Goldhands, Finian Goldhand has now officially made it known, along with the proper way to honor special trade agreements. To properly create a blood oath contract with someone, the Goldhand in question would need a mina that holds major significance to them, such as a Goldhand coin they recieved from their fathers after their Passing of The Coin Ceremony, their first mina made from a trade, or just about any coin that has some significance to the said Goldhand. To officially begin the contract, the Goldhand would cut the palm of their hand, and place their significant mina within it. After that, they would tightly close close their hand and then swear an oath to the Merchant Brothers, Armakak and Grimdugan, so that if the Goldhand fails, they would be shunned by them, along with bringing dishonor upon themselves. If the contract is complete, then they will receive honor, and once they die, will fetch a higher price on the Auction of The Dead.

    Passing of The Coin Ceremony:

As Goldhands get older, they will reach an age that will have them unable to continue their duties, for this, the Passing of The Coin ceremony shall take place. The ceremony would consist of the aged Goldhand in question, his clan, fathers and elders of other clans, and the aged Goldhand's specific guests. There ceremony will begin with the Goldhan in questions' walk towards a gilded iron urn containing melted gold, while his friends and family watch. This walk is to signify the Goldhand's journey through his or her's time in this world, to see all of the faces that have helped shape their life. As the Goldhand reaches the urn, the Clan Father shall offer a quick prayer to the Merchant Twins, Grimdugan and Armakak, to signify how close the Goldhand is to joining the Auction of The Dead, and to feel peace in the fact that the twins will look upon them with great interest. After the prayer, the aged Goldhand shall cast their first coin into the melted gold, to cleanse it of it's past honor contracts. After this, a final prayer to all of the Brathmordakin shall be performed to watch over this dying Goldhand, so he or she may pass on peacefully. This is then followed by a small feast, and the Dwed shall choose if he or she would continue serving the clan as a Clan Elder, advising and helping the young Dwed in the clan, or live a life of retirement.

    Burial:

There comes a time in every Dwarf’s life when his ancestors call his name and he ceases to walk with his feat on the stone. On a sad occasion such as this the Clan gathers to remember their fallen family member. When a member dies, either naturally or on the field of battle his body is encased in pure gold. This is done before the next sunrise if possible. Ale and tears flow freely as the family member is remembered for his deeds. His gold sarcophagus is then carried to a sacred resting chamber to be placed with those of his ancestors. While burials are a sad time, Goldhands also know that their family member will be smiling and laughing at them from the great halls of Tungdil. If the deceased’s deeds were truly remarkable it is said that they might even join the sacred halls of the Merchant Father himself.

The Noble House of Goldhand, also known as Clan Goldhand, extends far back into Dwarven history. The line goes back originally to Tungdil Goldhand, the fifth son of Urguan.

    Ancient Archives:

    [Aegis - Vailor]

    The Archives of Aegis

    Spoiler

The house originally began in Kal’Urguan where the sons of Tungdil Goldhand proudly and honorably served the nation. As time went on the size and prosperity of the house grew. Sons served in the military or the mines, and daughters married well, solidifying strong political alliances. Many of the stories of the individual house members have been lost over the years to the wear and tear of time, but several journals remain chronicling the participation of the family in great wars, and the proud service to the Dwarven crown.

With the building of Kal’Alras, several of the Goldhand’s saw an opportunity in the making. The fledgling city would need wealthy and powerful Dwarves to make it prosper. Virtually all of the members quickly joined the Guardians, the military of Kal’Alras, to help fight off bandits and other undesirables while the city was formed. As time progressed the family became more deeply rooted in Kal’Alras. Friendships were formed between the Baron and Overseer. The family also had high ranking positions in the military, and a spot on the Council of Kal’Alras.

As tensions against the mother city of Kal’Urguan, Kal’Alrasians prepared for a right against the capital. The city had grown into a multi racial area, and a war between the Humans and Dwarves put everyone on alert. During the attack by the humans on Kal’Urguan, the Goldhands turned out in great numbers to defend their Dwarven home. But when the dust settled it was clear that Kal’Alras was going to secede. A division in the clan was formed as the Alrasian Goldhand’s who had grown in power in Alras decided to stay, and the rest of the clan who felt stronger ties to Kal’Urguan. This division has lessened over time, and while House Goldhand is once again a solid family, many members have not forgotten the disagreement. Forgiven but not forgotten.

With the war over, and Alras declared a new nation, the Goldhands in Alras hung up their axes and turned to the merchant business. Their business flourished and they soon became one of the leading merchant families in the area. Stores opened in Kal’rog, Kal’Urguan, Alras, and Al’Khazar.

Business in all of the stores flourished especially the store in Al’Khazar. The Goldhands became some of the richest Dwarves in all Aegis. The focus on merchant affairs led to political life falling by the way side. The new Alrasian Council was formed leaving out the majority of the old Alrasians, Goldhands included. The name Goldhand dimished in Alras, where once it was a well known name.

The family fell upon hard times. The vast warehouses in Al’Khazar fell to the noxious cloud. Troubles between parts of the Dwarven nation and Alras made the once great merchant city unpleasant for Dwarves. Many of the Goldhands had to choose between their city and their dwarven brethren. The choice was easy for most: honor bound to the Dwarven nation, dismayed that Alras had forgotten its roots, and disgusted by some of the blatant discrimination in Alras, all the Goldhands returned to the home of their forefathers. The halls of Kal’Urguan once again rang with the jingle of Goldhand coins.

The return to Kal'Urguan was short lived. It was not long before the reach of the undead extended to the mighty dwarven capital. Lava fell from the ceiling and over the great fortress. Undead poured down the grand-stairway and flooded from the mines. It was all the Goldhands could do to carry their clan's sacred items from their clan hall. Soon the family became separated as the survivors of Aegis retreated into the verge. Amongst the masses of refugees it was difficult to stay together and in the rush of people to the boats the clan was split.

    The Archives of Asulon

    Spoiler

After the disorderly flight from Aegis, the Goldhand's were separated upon arrival. The clan split up heading in different directions and searching for areas of habitation. Some headed for the wilds, others to Alras, and still others to Salvus. It was only after finding the Dwarven capital that the Goldhands were reunited.

After finding the new Dwarven capital, the clan was reunited and a clan hall in the city. Gone were the vast sums of wealth that the cousins had held back in Aegis, but the clan was happy to have good solid stone over their heads and dwarves to rely on. Once again they had a starting point to build up their business once again. Gulroid stepped forward as clan leader and attended many meetings of the dwarves at this time, representing his clan to the best of his ability. He was disgusted however by the lack of productiveness that the clans had, and that none of them seemed to be able to agree.

Just when the Goldhands thought they had a stable place to live once more, a dragon forced the dwarves out of Karik. The clan splintered off, with Rasun and Gulroid heading back to their ranch in the wilds, and Dunhagen and Delios heading to Salvus where the clan owned a small shop. The war with Salvus has hurt the Goldhands as much of their stock in the city has been pillaged or has gone unaccounted for.

More recently there have been new additions to the clan. Algoda Goldhand survived the flight from Aegis and the undead threat and was welcomed with much feasting and ale drinking. Moruk and Gorum Goldhand married into the clan helping to solidify the strong dwarven blood as Frostbeard and Goldhand blood were merged. The clan has retreated to their holdings in the wild as plague has griped the land. Having found an abandoned fortress, the clan is restoring it, and giving the Goldhand heirlooms a proper place of honor once more.

While the Goldhands were constructing the fortress the situation in Alras deteriorated. The death of High King Syrio sent a shockwave through the members of the clan who had once called Kal’Alras home. Suddenly there was hope kindled as it was clear that Alras was fading quickly. The reign of High King Aislin was short. Gorum and Moruk were present when the new High King succumbed to madness. Through diplomatic and military strength the Nation of Alras was once again under Dwarven rule and in the hands of the Goldhands.

With power of Alras given to the Goldhands by Paragon Kjell. The Goldhands went about dismantling vast parts of the city which had long been abandoned. The underground Dwarven District would become the new Goldhand Clan Hold and the outer city would house the inhabitants of other races who had long called Alras home. There were other changes as well. Under Rasun’s rule, the city restored its old flag and colors and reclaimed it’s long abandoned name: Kal’Alras.

Not all was easy for the Goldhands during this time. There was unrest among the clans and the Dwarven nation was under severe strain. The Noble clans ended up in a position where they controlled and ran their own holds as city-states, each having separate representation, militaries, and social structure, but uniting when there were outside threats. And these threats did rise. Most recently a long and bloody war with the Orcs cost the lives of many Dwarves. The capture of the farms by the Orcs forced the Goldhands to relocated the farm land. This area was eventually recaptured but scaring to the land due to the tolls of war were immense.

The Dwarven treaty with the Orcs, ending the bloodshed between the two races did not sit well with many Goldhands who felt that the other clans were dishonoring their ancestors and the dead who had so valiantly fought the Orc scum. But in a meeting with other clans and the new Rex of the Orcs, the Goldhands were outvoted and the Dwarven Nation as a whole declared a truce. This was partially due to the threat of the human nation and also a rising sense of darkness and foreboding coming from the sightings of necromancers roaming around the reaches of Asulon.

As the ink dried on the truce between the Orcs and the Dwarves, war began in the south. The insults of the Teutans could not be ignored and a bloody battle was sparked that ended in catastrophe. The battle left the Dwarven army in retreat and the whereabouts of many Goldhands unknown. During this tumultuous time the Goldhands were approached with an offer that they could not conceivably refuse. Queen Kyral Hightower brought an offer to buy the city of Kal’Alras the much of the surrounding land. Due to the relocation of the Dwarves to Kal’Karik, and geographic location of Alras, the Goldhands accepted the trade.

Most recently the Goldhands have supported the dissolution of the Noble Council with the election of King Hiebe and the restoration of a powerful monarchy to once again lead the Dwarves to a golden age.

After the trade of Kal'Alras, and the Dwarves returning to their ancient city of Kal'Karik amongst the mountains, the Goldhands resided in the noble district of Clan Goldhand. There housed many of the Goldhands that came on the journey to their ancient home. After years of peacefully residing in Kal'Karik, Gulroid the former Clan Father has fallen ill and sick. He retreated to the ancient hold of the Goldhands near Kal'Anart and lived there for the time being. During this time, the Goldhands had fallen into disarray as the leadership of the clan slowly deteriorated. In this time Rasun Goldhand also vanished. The knowing of him being alive or dead is not known, and the only note of Rasun, is that he vanished into the wilds and was to be never seen again.

The dark days of the Goldhands loomed over the clan and the clan fell into darkness without leadership. The Clan Father Gulroid had fallen ill, and the one who many Goldhands looked up to, Rasun has gone missing without a trace. The remaining Goldhands that still reside in the grand halls of Kal'Karik grow weary of the disappearance of leadership among the clan, and soon later William of the Goldhand Clan called forth a meeting with his kin to discuss the current happenings of leadership, and the future of the clan.

After days of discussion in the Goldhand Hall in Kal'Karik, it was decided that Thoak Goldhand would venture forth and make way toward the ancient hold of the Goldhands, and consult with Gulroid in his current state about the future of the Goldhands. There it was decided by Gulroid himself that Thoak becomes the new Clan Father and that Gulroid would step down because of his current state of illness. Thoak Goldhand himself promised that he would bring back the nobility of the clan, and pride and honor that the clan once held.

    Spoiler

Nothing much can be said about Elysium. It was said that Thoak Goldhand established a small settlement outside of the Urguan Hold near the mountains for those seeking work outside of the small hold. It was great while it lasted, however most of it was wiped out due to the great volcano nearby erupting sending the village to its fiery doom.

The clan has been mostly inactive, with only a few Goldhands trying to revive the clan. The latest Goldhand, Finian, rose to the challenge of trying to officially revive the splintered clan.

    Vailor Archives:

The clan, though small, was lead shortly by Finian Goldhand, his age of revival hitting it's peak before departing on pilgrimage. After many passings, the title of Clan Father was held by Conan Goldhand, whom lead what was left of the once again splintered clan. After some time, Durack Goldand would arrive and take over the clan with a new age of reformation, later to be labeled, "The Age of History", where Durack would turn the Goldhands from merchants, to treasure hunters.

As Durack took the mantle of Goldhand, new blood began to come back to the clan. With new Goldhands beginning to reassemble the clan looked to be hitting a period of growth as it did with Finian.

After a few months of staying idle, the Goldhand clan begins a great movement, one wrought in thievery and deceit. A dwarf known as Azaghal Doomforge was searched on orders of the Grand King in hopes of uncovering a conspiracy against him on the grounds of stealing clan relics. It came to light that Azaghal held the Scales of Tungdil, and after it being returned to the Goldhand clan, Durack Goldhand saw it fit to get even with the dwarf. He decided to speak to the Grand King to completely destroy the Doomforged clan, and after being denied that out right, the Grand King told Durack instead to create a grudge against him, in hopes of not having any Dwarven blood shed within the land. Durack, still fuming over his denial, reluctantly agreed, and began his journey to make the Doomforged clan pay for their dishonorable conduct.

(A painting of Durack forging his time away.)

The Summer Month of The Grand Harvest, 1550

Durack could be seen sweating within the local Dwarven tavern after long hours of practicing his blacksmithing.

In his mind, he gave sufficient time for a final response from his so-called brethren. He turned to blacksmithing to ease his anger for the lack of proper responses, so he began tapping his hand on the cracked table he made before. Others in the tavern continue to keep their eyes on him, for some fear another sudden outburst and ruining their relaxation within the tavern. Others though, see him as a Dwarf who took nothing from anyone, and commended his actions.

Durack, aware of the eyes on him in the tavern, would now get up and the crowd stopped what they were doing.

Durack would begin to take large strides, in Dwarven eyes, across the room and begins making his way up onto a table.

People would clear their table and waits for his screaming proclamation, some even leaving the tavern to try and avoid the noise.

To much of everyon'e surprise, he begins to speak calmly,

"Ah would loike tuh apolojoise tuh all ove yeh fur meh ou'burs's. Ahm sincereleh sorreh. Da' es whoi ahm up 'ere, bu' alsuh to make, un true las' proclamation tuh moi kin, teh Gol'an's. Ah see et as ah dis'oneteh tuh ignore meh, 'nd ah would loike tuh finish 'nd seh dat ef nae un comes up tuh meh nuh, ahm truleh takin' teh clan."

Durack would then step down and walk silently towards his regular seat in the corner, and begins playing with his coin.

The Tavern goers would be surprised, some even moved at his calm proclamation, and begin spread the word of this. Many Dwarves would begin say that the current Goldhand Clan seems dishonorable, some casting curses upon them from the Brath, some even just wanting to cut off all ties to their current state.

I thought deeply about it, and you're absolutely right. I will definetly be revising it to include the Doom Forge in a more principal way to crafting. Perhaps the metal has to be forged from the Doom forge so it can imbue the magic into the carving. Awesome idea, friend.

Yeah, because from what I see, you guys don't really have much lore relating to crafts with the Doomforged and use it mainly as a symbol nowadays.

You guys could very well make Obsidian weapons with Flesh runes carved on, or as some would hate it, like him and a few others, Flesh Golems if that's how they work.

You guys should be pushing for more lore stuff with your Doomforge to make you even more unique other than, and as I quote myself,

"A clan based upon the tiddling of a Dwarf and Dark Elf for their own amusement.". Cause, to be honest, that's all you guys really are to me at the moment. Of course, I don't know what private stuff you guys do with your Doomforge other than your clan halls looking like some for mfo torture chamber each map.

By activating the Rune of Torment sporadically you could achieve this effect. Still, it is a nice idea and a possibility. As you can see, the rune preset I laid out is to show what Flesh runes can do, their extent of power, from affecting one's ability to sleep, or therefore to not sleep. I'm sure many more ideas alike will come up, and be added. Just like how flexible the Runic language is, this one should come up just like it, which is my plan.

The only other thing I would like to say is, how would you guys go about adding more runes?

Do you have to make a lore post everytime or simply make it in RP?

Also, do these have any effect if crafted from the Doomforge? Cause that would be a neat thing to add since a rogue Doomforge could potentially ruin everything here if they feel like spiting someone in OOC and potentially ruining the system.
