In all my years role-playing (soon-to-be 10, to be precise) I never heard of people not understanding RP is nowhere near superficial, and that morality is one of the most important things to consider (LotC is the exception to this, but I don't quite count it in my curriculum). Then again, this is most people's first RP experience, so a guide doesn't hurt. Thanks for contributing this to the community. Hopefully they'll read it and give it some thought.

One of the greatest character conclusion topics I've ever read. Your writing is heart-touching, man.

Do it, but don't put stupid sub-variations of villainy for simple crap as breaking a window during combat situation. Heck, accidents happen. Unless the initial goal is to break that something, it shouldn't count as vandalism.

Eh. I've been around for quite a while. Quite a while indeed.
I've seen old hats come and go. I've seen our title transform into that of old fart after a few years, and I've been around through every single mayor change the server has suffered in the past 3, almost 4, years. I'm not precisely sure as to what is expected in an LM, but I can confess, and many can verify, I'm an open-minded, clear-minded, relaxed individual with an urge to create new and, more often than not, refreshening and amusing ideas for role-play.
My OCD keeps me from creating biased or unbalanced ideas, and my morals make sure they don't break any existing lore nor give unfair advantages when it comes to character lore. However, and more often than not they're almost perfectly (perfection is not a thing) balanced and enjoyable. I am obsessed, yes, with the creation of lore for even the smallest things. I'm obsessed, as well, with the preservation of the base/old lore, and the proper adaptation of new lore to the old one to keep things running smoothly.
On my mind, the goal has always been to do and create things that make people have a great time. Things that spark their interest to continue role-playing.Having role-played a once well-known bard during Aegis, a large part of my roleplay consisted of interacting with new players and many characters who knew little about the world they had woken up in. Naturally, I had to be well acquainted with the lore, and I'd often come up with legends and myths to spice things up. People loved it. Needless to say, I was also one of the first few people to make player driven events. I specialized in the lore for them, the plot that drove players interested in reaching the end of the story to reveal the truth.
In fact, perhaps I could help in the practical side of things. Lore that goes into motion immediately through RP in the IC part of the server. Could be pretty interesting.Cheers!
My contact information is available within my forum profile.
Edit: Also, I don't drink coffee. Though I'll gladly accept a cup of Earl Grey, hot.
Who am I fooling. I don't need caffeine to write nor stay awake. Music is my life elixir.1 -
IVE GOT ALCOHOL FOR THIS DERPFEST!
Why don't we turn this into an equivalent to Paganfest? :D

About bloody goddamn time. Cheers on the smart move and interest in fixing this community. You've earned one cookie on my cookie-meter (that leaves only 8 cookies to go. Current LotC Admin Score is 2/10). Keep up the good work!

"Material gifts are overrated and impermanent." - Me.
OOC: C421
RP: Cymrych "Drakkar" Douglas
Request: "A heart; a heart that beats, that feels. A heart I may hold and protect until the end of my days. A heart that can allow me to live."
OOC: Minnan1
RP: Aedan
Request: "The blessing of a deity. A blessing upon my wife: Arial Meadowbloom, and I, so that the curse of our people may show us kindness, and allow us to have a child in a future."0 -
Well, you'd be surprised. Pumpkineer and Pumpkiness did take over all ooc holidays ic back in 2011 and 2012. Halloween was the time they were most active during, spreading madness and pranks all over the land, and Christmas was the time they gifted pumpkins with cookies and other goodies stuffed inside to random individuals in the Cloud Temple of Asulon.
Being considered gods by the players really helped make those experiences a lot more enjoyable for everyone. They even got their own little army of pumpkin goblins, who were pretty much their elves.0 -
Aedan would've sat at a table, with a quill, paper and a bottle of ink. He'd have spent a long time just sitting there, holding the tip of the quill just above the piece of paper, unable to write.
Then, he remembers: There is nothing for him to admire from this land. He finds himself unable to feel anything towards it; love? this land isn't even where he was born at. There is nothing familiar, not even the breeze, not even the sky. No one belongs here. It's all cold, strange.
Aedan would've signed the sheet of paper with his name on the very bottom, leaving it blank.
Empty and lifeless as it is, the almost completely blank piece of paper is sent to the Archdruid.

Eh... Can't disguise Aedan without Arial being there to wear a costume as well.
*sigh*0 -
Or you can name them after what they represent, such as Aedan.

Anti-DDoS? The damn server DDoS's itself, for god's sake.

They were the only thing I got to RP and enjoy about the antags in Anthos.

We've got a lot of ET creatures that:
1) Are never played
2) At least 90% of the server doesn't know exist
3) Aren't needed, nor do they add anything particularly important or relevant
4) People probably don't care about
5) Are very close to morphing LotC's "theme" into some really horrendous MMORPG
6) Just might be hard to keep track of7) Might as well be removed
8) Might as well have never been implemented
9) Are "unfitting"
10) People can't relate to
11) Are so weird people probably have problems imagining or adapting to.
If someone would be as kind as to make a purge of ET races, and races altogether, I'm sure a lot of people would be grateful (and some others would be just learning they were there in the first place). It's getting out of hand, I believe.
As for this idea... I'll check it out again once it gets developed more. I don't like judging early versions of lore because the idea just might not be developed enough to transmit the right feeling/idea.0 -
That's why Aedan is a classic :D

I feel a post is unnecessary and your just making drama.
It's only drama if you make it drama

Is it ok to write down two, for my two characters?

Stahp. You're going to make the admins decide to take away players' ability to make posts on the forums as an "experiment" for a "month" >:(

"I say exterminate all of their pathetic, worthless arses. The world aches for a cleanse of this impurity; impurity of the mind," says a tall being whose presence seems to disturb the peace in your heart.

Hwaldar has proven, since day one, to be the one member of this community who can read people's behaviour and nail an analysis of them with little to no difficulty. He's the man. He's also respectful and fearless about it, which is a bonus.
In fact, a little story about the Undead: Hwaldar was one of the most evil undead there was in Aegis, for some time, until he decided he'd go pick up flowers, because why not? He got kicked out for it, but he still owned everyone.0 -
If you have some of almighty Hwaldar, share 'em

Well, this is a great guide, is it not?

I am probably necroposting and all, but I say "What the hell? I might as well."
I've recently been writing a series of short books in the development of a world for pen & paper RPG campaigns that is largely constructed from my own recollection of past role-play experiences. As I was writing the chapter on halflings to describe them as they exist in that world's canon, I couldn't help but remember that one curious and highly driven halfling Aedan met in the vale of Elysium. What times those were, and what fond memories I've got of the little fellow. He's considered one of Aedan's closest friends and one that was very particular among them. I gotta say I really enjoyed interacting with him myself.
