  1. I am probably necroposting and all, but I say "What the hell? I might as well." I've recently been writing a series of short books in the development of a world for pen & paper RPG campaigns that is largely constructed from my own recollection of past role-play experiences. As I was writing the chapter on halflings to describe them as they exist in that world's canon, I couldn't help but remember that one curious and highly driven halfling Aedan met in the vale of Elysium. What times those were, and what fond memories I've got of the little fellow. He's considered one of Aedan's closest friends and one that was very particular among them. I gotta say I really enjoyed interacting with him myself.
  2. In all my years role-playing (soon-to-be 10, to be precise) I never heard of people not understanding RP is nowhere near superficial, and that morality is one of the most important things to consider (LotC is the exception to this, but I don't quite count it in my curriculum). Then again, this is most people's first RP experience, so a guide doesn't hurt. Thanks for contributing this to the community. Hopefully they'll read it and give it some thought.
  3. One of the greatest character conclusion topics I've ever read. Your writing is heart-touching, man.
  4. Do it, but don't put stupid sub-variations of villainy for simple crap as breaking a window during combat situation. Heck, accidents happen. Unless the initial goal is to break that something, it shouldn't count as vandalism.
  5. Eh. I've been around for quite a while. Quite a while indeed. I've seen old hats come and go. I've seen our title transform into that of old fart after a few years, and I've been around through every single mayor change the server has suffered in the past 3, almost 4, years. I'm not precisely sure as to what is expected in an LM, but I can confess, and many can verify, I'm an open-minded, clear-minded, relaxed individual with an urge to create new and, more often than not, refreshening and amusing ideas for role-play. My OCD keeps me from creating biased or unbalanced ideas, and my morals make sure they don't break any existing lore nor give unfair advantages when it comes to character lore. However, and more often than not they're almost perfectly (perfection is not a thing) balanced and enjoyable. I am obsessed, yes, with the creation of lore for even the smallest things. I'm obsessed, as well, with the preservation of the base/old lore, and the proper adaptation of new lore to the old one to keep things running smoothly. On my mind, the goal has always been to do and create things that make people have a great time. Things that spark their interest to continue role-playing. Having role-played a once well-known bard during Aegis, a large part of my roleplay consisted of interacting with new players and many characters who knew little about the world they had woken up in. Naturally, I had to be well acquainted with the lore, and I'd often come up with legends and myths to spice things up. People loved it. Needless to say, I was also one of the first few people to make player driven events. I specialized in the lore for them, the plot that drove players interested in reaching the end of the story to reveal the truth. In fact, perhaps I could help in the practical side of things. Lore that goes into motion immediately through RP in the IC part of the server. Could be pretty interesting. Cheers! My contact information is available within my forum profile. Edit: Also, I don't drink coffee. Though I'll gladly accept a cup of Earl Grey, hot. Who am I fooling. I don't need caffeine to write nor stay awake. Music is my life elixir.
  6. Not sure if this helps but I feel it needs to be said: I believe the reason the community is flipping shite all over the announcement is because, if I may generalize, the problem is we don't want a Lore Admin at all.

I assume if you don't want a leader for the LMs, you don't want the LMs?

Lore Moderators are needed. Game Moderators are used for keeping technical and mechanical issues at check with the playerbase. Lore Moderators are like the guys we go to when we don't know something regarding RP.

  7. So... Is MPM a thing again (compatible, etc), or are we still in the dark ages? D:

  8. So... I arrived to see what was up and I see why I wasn't around for so long. See you around again o_o Oh, and happy new year, everyone!~ :D

  9. Happy New Year! On behalf of everyone~

  10. Why don't we turn this into an equivalent to Paganfest? :D
  11. Merry Christmas! We're all hoping to see you soon, though we have no idea if it'll become reality or not.

  12. About bloody goddamn time. Cheers on the smart move and interest in fixing this community. You've earned one cookie on my cookie-meter (that leaves only 8 cookies to go. Current LotC Admin Score is 2/10). Keep up the good work!
  13. "Material gifts are overrated and impermanent." - Me. OOC: C421 RP: Cymrych "Drakkar" Douglas Request: "A heart; a heart that beats, that feels. A heart I may hold and protect until the end of my days. A heart that can allow me to live." OOC: Minnan1 RP: Aedan Request: "The blessing of a deity. A blessing upon my wife: Arial Meadowbloom, and I, so that the curse of our people may show us kindness, and allow us to have a child in a future."
  14. Hi! Things have settled down, surprisingly enough, thanks to the whole break/hiatus we're both taking (I suppose) from all the drama. I finally sorted out what was killing me inside (irl stuff) and, well, someone even messaged me saying they were glad to see the real Jack, my old self, back on track. I only hope you come back too, someday.

  15. Anyone seen Ari active or around yet? :/

  16. Well, you'd be surprised. Pumpkineer and Pumpkiness did take over all ooc holidays ic back in 2011 and 2012. Halloween was the time they were most active during, spreading madness and pranks all over the land, and Christmas was the time they gifted pumpkins with cookies and other goodies stuffed inside to random individuals in the Cloud Temple of Asulon. Being considered gods by the players really helped make those experiences a lot more enjoyable for everyone. They even got their own little army of pumpkin goblins, who were pretty much their elves.
  17. Aedan would've sat at a table, with a quill, paper and a bottle of ink. He'd have spent a long time just sitting there, holding the tip of the quill just above the piece of paper, unable to write. Then, he remembers: There is nothing for him to admire from this land. He finds himself unable to feel anything towards it; love? this land isn't even where he was born at. There is nothing familiar, not even the breeze, not even the sky. No one belongs here. It's all cold, strange. Aedan would've signed the sheet of paper with his name on the very bottom, leaving it blank. Empty and lifeless as it is, the almost completely blank piece of paper is sent to the Archdruid.
  18. So, today's time for my monthly/weekly (not really systematic) check-in on the server. That said, how is the server doing? Have things gotten better or are they the same? (has it gotten worse, even?) How's everyone?

  20. I hope you're taking care and, hopefully, coming back soon. Cheers!

  21. Someone should add to the lore/wiki that it was an Adunian who created crucible steel IC, through aprox. 30 years of research, trial and error, and, at last, 5 hours of intense blacksmith RP of making the first Ulfberht; with the help of Morvan Orvar and his cousin, Byrnjolf.

Kay, Because we had an ulfberth and some crrúcible steel axes in fringe with a professional blacksmith.

And now that Orvars left I think we're the only viking/dane based culture/group left.

Thing is, crucible steel wasn't officially made by anyone but the Adunian I mentioned. Most people just implied their stuff was made of that material, but none went through the RP of developing it, thus most of it is either lesser quality crucible steel or fake crucible steel as far as IC knowledge goes.

  22. So... I didn't really tell a lot of people, and a post is just.. well... unecessary, so: I'm inactive because, as many have noticed, Ari left without a word (and has been gone for about two months). Since I'm partially responsible for it, I really feel worse than 'like ****'. I'm having a hard time coping with responsibilities at the moment, and it will probably be like that indifinitely (possibly permanently). Since my two characters, the only ones I honestly feel lik...

If you want, I have an open family rp slot. Otherwise, my advice is: Don't get overly attached to people on the internet, we can laugh with them, have fun with them, but most of these people will go, and we will only have our memories to remain, and smile at. The golden days are past, but why not forge new ones?
