Minecraft 1.8 Information
Khaene replied to Deleted User 009's topic in News & Announcements Archive
I think this is just a bit nihilistic. The multiworld suggestion is a very good one I think and a mass exodus event could be fun. If players don't feel like they're completely starting over, the exciting new terrain may be enough to encourage most to keep playing. -
Wanting to Buy: Slime balls or sticky pistons.
Khaene replied to Khaene's topic in Aegis Roleplay Archive
Alright, I'll take 10. -
I need slime balls for a contraption I'd like to build, please name a price and we can negotiate.

-In-Game Name: Khaene -RolePlaying Name: Khaene -Sword and/or Bow Skill: [Not Needed for Now] -Are you a Mage: [Not Needed for Now] --If so, what type do you specialize in: [Not Needed for Now] -Villain Application Link: (approved) viewtopic.php?f=52&t=13707 -Race and Subrace: Human Northerner -Previous Guilds/Armies Joined: Alstion Rangers --Are you still a member of this organization: No (Disbanded) --If yes, are you trusted: The other former guard trust me. -Reason for Joining: Alstion's defeat struck a devastating blow to Khaene's psyche. Struggling to rationalize the loss of his homeland, he turned to thoughts of anger and betrayal. These emotions have cracked his moral armor, giving Iblees' corruption a way in. See my villain app for more OOC information on why I'd join. IC: I spent years of my life ranging through the frozen tundra of the North tracking Iblees worshippers and undead. Everything I had come to know and love was there and many brave men fought to the last defending Alstion but it was all for naught. In the weeks after Alstion fell this last time I spent many days wandering the wilds, looking for an answer, for a purpose. It was then that I met a man named Rire. I blamed him and others like him, at first, for the fall of Alstion. But through his guidance I understand now that I was wrong. It wasn't the Undead that destroyed Alstion, it wasn't those Iblees worshippers that I had ignorantly believed sought only our destruction. Nay, it was Oren, the kingdom of men, who abandoned us and let their petty squabbling and bickering get in the way of protecting Aegis. The Undead and other Iblees worshippers, I know now, are merely messengers, heralds of the true peace Iblees brings. Alstion fell because we failed to embrace Iblees. When I expressed my desire to help destroy those who stand in the way of Iblees, to help end the unnecessary cycle of war and strife in Aegis, Rire told me to seek the Black Hand and apply for membership. -Evils you have committed: In the weeks since Alstion's fall I've had to survive in the frozen north alone, foraging supplies when they could be found, and stealing supplies when they could not. I will do anything to survive and to accomplish my goals. -References for Evils Done: None. -Are you a good RolePlayer and do you understand the rules of PvP: I understand the rules of PvP and believe I'm a good RolePlayer. I can avoid getting emotional about my character (for the most part), maintain a separation between IC and OOC, and don't always have to "win." It's all about involved players having fun. -Do you have any connections with trusted people within a Kingdom: I'm known by many of the former citizens of Alstion. -Time Zone and playing Times: My classes just started so I may not be on much, but typically I play afternoons during the week EST. (GMT-5) -Do you wish to have your name posted in the Guild list: Sure, doesn't matter to me.

((I gotta ask, were you inspired by the song where a guy meets a girl named Lola but she's actually a dude?))

((the mods are going to turn alstion into a forest))

(( Let's not go there with the discussion again, please. I haven't been in Oren much lately but people might show more interest in fighting as good if BH/undead start overwhelming Al'khazar, just gotta wait and see or get proactive. )) -
I've been hanging around Al'khazar now and then hoping to run into someone who can show me the way there. I searched to the Northwest but all I found was Montego and lots of random structures here and there. But I think I'm on the same page as you guys in regards to war weariness. ((I'd like to help build for the town. If you want to see an example of some of my work I can give you the OOC coords of my new wilds home, spent a lot of time on it so far))

((There's a Nietzsche quote I like to think describes the situation very well, roughly "He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster, for when you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you. Of course this flirtation with evil in an effort to do good, at least in my opinion, adds a great element to the RP and fun. It's boring if there are only two sides: totally evil and totally good.)) You naive fools. You give yourselves willingly to the corruption of Iblees, expecting what, power? Peace? The corruption has gone to your very core and you cannot even comprehend what you are doing to this world. All that you will receive for your betrayal is oblivion. I once thought we could help those like you, bring you back to the light, but now my eye is open, I'll not make that mistake again, now I understand the only solution is your complete and utter annihilation. You think Alstion's fall heralds the coming of some Iblesian utopia? Ha! If you had your way it would only be the death of us all. Alstion was lost to us before you even moved in to take it. No, we lost Alstion when Aegis failed to heed the call. But with Alstion gone it will send a message that Aegis cannot ignore. Where once you struggled against our rag-tag band of guardsmen and rangers, when you move against the South you will face the full might of Oren. Like the insignificant bug you are, you will be crushed under the heel of an Aegis united.

I traveled to Alstion to search for survivors but met only looters and hooded men patting each other on the back. Thankfully they believed me fooled and did not engage me, I was able to slip out the back. I'll continue my search in the morning.
-
It saddens me that this it has come to this, but I'm glad we were able to hold them off for as long as we did. It didn't feel right to lose the town while it's leader was away.
-
You most likely ran into the Followers of Aegis. It's been hectic in Alstion and many of the guard and rangers have been struggling to hold things together but we certainly aren't pressing anyone into service. We're grateful for the assistance but with an Undead Keep within sight of the walls you must understand the pressure we've all been under. I myself have been kept away recently dealing with issues with my family's holdings in the wild. I'm sad to say it has been completely lost to the wilds and between that loss and the loss of home in Alstion, well, I've had to turn my focus to my own survival for the time. I plan to return again soon and I hope those there can vouch for me, that I've been doing my duty as a ranger throughout this difficult war.
-
(( What? Can you clarify? )) We've had quite a few strangers show up in Alstion and announce that they are the new leader of Alstion but as yet I've seen very little leading. If you're going to assert your authority over us I'll need to hear it directly from Captain Albrecht, the interim leader Grimbeard, or from Saint Daniel. I would find it very surprising if the Captain handed over the town guard and the rangers to a stranger.
-
*chuckles to himself as a cruel look overpowers his expression. To whom do you think I speak of? I can feel the corruption in your words. Perhaps I'm wrong about your motives and you truly believe these thoughts you're having are your own, but I can see the taint in your future. No, this ends only one way for you. I'll not waste any more words with you. When I uncover your identity you'll burn like the other worshippers will burn.
-
Many fools worship Iblees and think to gain favor by spreading falsities and attempting to damage morale and the will to support our efforts in the North. This one's motives, like so many other weak minded minions' motives, were transparent from the very start.
-
And neither will we. Stay out of the North.
-
Like any other problem, this one can be solved with the proper application of force. The mindless creatures are predictable to the extreme.
-
A disturbing trend, this increase in power. But no, we will not be afraid. We have nothing to fear so long as these half man half pig creatures do not also become half bear. I am serious in total.

OOC: So...Ryder purchased happiness from an Orc in a dark alley? *snicker*
-
Just another pampered Southerner incapable of understanding the world as it is. Don't waste your breath on him.
-
(( Bummer =(. But yeah, I'd like to help out in that way but I won't do anything shady before my villain app is accepted. As a playerbase we really gotta stop doing these ninja wars that decide the fate of regions, some people are starting to take things too personally methinks. ))
-
(( Can you provide any details? I'm curious but can't log in for the time being. ))
-
((Well to butt in here technically he only admitted it to people who have access to the undead keep, so your character and 95% of other characters won't know, this is the undead roleplay section))
-
Khaene's knuckles go white as his grip on his sword hilt tightens in contained rage. Selfish and stubborn!? What would this Southerner have us do, uproot all the families and refugees and live in Al'khazars alleyways like so many beggars and filth? I'm sure looking out the window from his lofty multi-thousand minas mansion and seeing the huddled masses would boost this Southerner's over-inflated sense of self-worth, but it is no way to live. No, we fight for those in the North because we have no where else to go. We fight because our homes are in Alstion and Snowy Fields and, last I checked, we are part of the Kingdom of Oren. I can only be glad that King Sheffeild hasn't forgotten that. Our call to aid was not meant for the likes of you, it's true as you say, it was meant for brave and honest men. I wonder what tune he'll be singing if the North falls and the undead come knocking on his door? Let's pray we never find that out. Despite his hostile attitude to us, I would never wish that on anyone. If the North falls, the remnants of our forces will fight on, fighting the Undead every step of the way South. *reads over his response letter in the harsh glare of the Al'khazar late afternoon sun. The anger and rage within him had clearly flowed through the quill and onto the paper as evidenced by his hastily scrawled and uneven caligraphy. Letting out a carefully measured breath to cool his temper, Khaene crumpled up his response and tossed it aside, worried at what he was becoming. Some scars run deeper than the cut, but a war of words will not do anyone any good. What we need is action.

(( A good read but I felt it was a little harsh on Zed's memory. )) I didn't know Zed Shilver well but I did know him from his brief time at Alstion. I know I don't trust easily but Zed had a way of disarming my suspicious nature. Maybe it was the fire and determination in his eyes but I knew immediately this was one man who would hold the line. Rest in peace, he will be missed.

*Reads the scroll and scoffs. More ungrounded accusations from people wanting their problems to be solved by others. In Alstion's final days Khaene had met one of the Oren Guards ordered to support the North and spent several hours at the tavern swapping war stories over hot ale. True, perhaps it was too little too late, but an independent settlement such as Alstion, far to the north and on the edge of Oren, cannot expect aid to come from others and yet Captain Vardak and by extension King Sheffeild did send that aid in the end. The Alstion veteran's main concern with Oren had been the lax laws that have allowed undead and their agents to lurk in the shadows of the cities and towns, plotting Oren's destruction in nigh-plain view. And yet the King has cracked down on this as well, allowing the guard to act more boldly in detaining and questioning suspicious travelers. But no, laws alone will never be able to do what needs to be done to truly secure Oren. Accepting this, the ranger believed the King has done well with the power a King wields. (( OOC: This video sums up how I tend to feel about stuff like this: ))
