  1. Support and Assistance Section Rules

This topic addresses how to behave, and what to do in the Support and Assistance thread.
The thread was created for the purpose of asking and answering questions, and said questions receiving specific, informative, and factual answers. Remember that this section on the forums is here for people to receive a swift and accurate response, and not for spam or unhelpful chatter. When someone needs to sift through the questions in this thread they should be able to find the answer quickly and efficiently. Minimizing clutter is a priority and will be strongly enforced, replies that do not contribute are subject to removal.
Please read this carefully before making or replying to any post, thank you.

    Submitting a question?

    Questions should be:

    • Friendly toned, and staying positive while trying to help solve the problem too.
    • Moderately professional and relatively useful.
    • Thought-out and unique, search for similar questions first before submitting a query.
    • Scoped inside of the LotC realm, and not about topics that relate in no clear way.
    • Descriptive and informative, so as to make it as easy as possible for those answering to help you out.
    • Marked as [Resolved] when it is finished.

    Questions should not be:

    • Aggressively written or targeted in a negative fashion at a certain detail in LotC.
    • Asked about previously, not a new question.
    • Scoped outside of the LotC realm, written on completely random topics.
    • One line queries, we can’t provide assistance if the question is unclear or not detailed
    • Controversial, or written with no clear way to provide a correct answer.
    • Focused around humour or purposely inflammatory.
    • Never marked as [Resolved] leaving the Guide team hanging.

    Helping provide an answer?

    Answers should be:

    • Helpful and the details provided unique in the topic.
    • Friendly and supportive of the one asking the question, regardless of content.
    • Well researched as well as clear and concise.
    • On-topic and centered around helping the member providing the query.

    Answers should not be:

    • Unhelpful, controversial or provide false-information.
    • Aggressive or victimising of the player asking the question.
    • Unsure or adding more questions to the query, generally best not to answer off the top of your head.
    • Off-topic from the question, inflammatorytrolly, or unnecessarily comedic.

Tip: If you provide sources to your answer it can make it that much more legitimate and provide more backbone to it. If your reply provides links to various other topics or posts that provide answers to the query it is a large bonus, and very helpful.

Reminder: When you are in the Support and Assistance thread you leave your immature side behind completely and must at least attempt a professional atmosphere. Trolling and rude comments will absolutely not be tolerated, and all replies must contain valuable information that has not been previously stated. When you are asking your question make sure it is unique and an answer is nowhere else to be found, and when replying you are providing an answer, not just an opinion.

  2. Debates Section Rules

Welcome to the Debates Forum. Discussion of controversial topics should be posted in this subforum. All content must go through an approval process by the Forum Team before it is able to be seen by the public. This means that it may be a few days before the thread is public, however you and the server staff will still have the ability to view it.

Failure to comply to the rules of this subforum may result in your thread's) or post(s) getting hidden or punishment accordingly.

    Rules of the Debates Subforum

1- All LotC rules (https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/152605-the-rules/) still apply here.

2- Respect and keep an open mind to each other’s beliefs and ideas.

3- Avoid intentionally provoking arguments, starting “flamewars”; and posting clearly inflammatory, degrading, or abusive content.

4- In compliance with the main Forum Rules, personal targeting or harassment will not be tolerated in the debates section, posters who participate in said targeting or harassment will be subject to punishment at the discretion of the Forum Team.

5- All posts must be constructive and contribute to the discussion. Inform and explain, but do not try to persuade others to agree with your thoughts.

6- Keep discussions on topic, and refrain from posting videos, memes or other content that may distract from the topic at hand

  3. Forum Roleplay Section Guidelines

While the server is a great way to interact and roleplay with fellow players here on LoTC, the forums is also another means of immersing yourself in roleplay without needing to be directly logged into the server. As well, forum roleplay also extends to a much broader audience and enables the player base to keep up to date with upcoming events, changes in politics, or simply learn about what is going on outside of their roleplay circle. Keeping this in mind, there are a few regulations to follow when roleplaying on the forums:

1- Remember to keep all your posts in the roleplay subforum character related. This corresponds to communicating with emotes or having a general conversation in character. Note that this server is PG-13 and thus all roleplay interactions must adhere to the same rules as the roleplay section of the Rules and Community Guidelines.

2- Anonymous character posts are discouraged. If you wish to keep your character unnamed, do so by adding a bit of description to the post. While ominous characters can be interesting to play, you are only permitted to roleplay a character you play and not just a random passer-by.

3- “Thinking” posts tend to take away from the original post. Refrain from posting replies along the lines of your character having just a simple  thought or comment to make about the situation. Add some details and be creative.

4- ‘Memeing’ on a roleplay post is not condoned. If it does not adhere to the roleplay world, it should not be posted in the thread.

5- Targeting players by masking it with roleplay is unacceptable and will not be tolerated, as is stated in The Rules. Attacking someone via any LoTC medium will not be tolerated and such applies to the forum roleplay section.

6- Do not post a video or picture that does not have any roleplay relevance. If you wish to post an OOC reply containing a picture or video, place it in a spoiler.

7- Some roleplay posts can become heated, but it is important to remember that this is a game and we are all here to have fun. Keep arguments that are not bound by roleplay off of roleplay threads and try to maintain a level head. If you do have issues with another player, take it off the forums and somewhere private to discuss them.

8- If you roleplay a deceased character using the “Seven Skies Roleplay” theme, do so in a constructive manner. Do not devalue a post by posting uncreative, one-word emotes in the comments, lest they be hidden by a Forum Moderator.

9- Take pride in your posts! Put some effort into what you post, be creative, and most importantly, have fun! Happy roleplaying!

10-You must have OOC consent from the player of the specific roleplay character to do a roleplay post regarding the death of a specific roleplay character

These guidelines are subject to change.

  4. Trading Section Rules

Please follow the following procedure when trading.

When trading items, please state in the on your topic the following

    • Buying - When buying an item, please put at the start of the topic “BUYING”
    • Selling - When you are selling an item, please put at the start of the topic “SELLING”
    • Auctioning - When you are auctioning an item, please put at the start of the topic “AUCTION”
    • Sold - When you have sold your item, please edit your topic to say “SOLD.”
    • Finished - When your auctioned item on the forums has finished, please edit your topic to say “FINISHED.”

This is purely done so that the FM team know what items have currently sold, and what are unsold. Any topic left open for over the duration of one month without response may be locked and moved to the archive, if your trade is that of a trading company actively selling and buying, please PM a forum moderator to unlock and move the topic back to it’s original location.

    Guidelines to trading

1- Refrain from using OOC - Trading posts are usually created through RP, which means you must also try to reply to the seller/buyer in an RP fashion, whilst we understand sometimes OOC may be required, please try to keep OOC posts to an absolute minimum. Be sure to always surround the out of character portions of your response with the double parentheses, before and after the out of character section. (( ))

2- Do not troll - Self explanatory really, in the past we have seen a few trade topics being trolled with the likes of bidding, some people will outbid their rivals with unrealistic prices they most likely do not have, this creates an atmosphere for some which do not approve which drives them from buying the item or selling the item they wish.
