Or we can just remove everything because people will ***** about how it takes away from their rp immersion. Let us all just sit around a big camp fire with a thumb up our butts and sing happy songs.

Literally, I have rarely seen people do what you just described with all their stuff. When it does come to storing items of value, some people will store it in the walls and under their floor. People have been doing this to hide their **** for years whether it's on an rp server or not, it's just something you have to get used to. Like I said, people rping thievery do it for the experience not the items, so even if they don't get swords or diamonds, most people will just enjoy the experience. Quit trying to remove something just because you don't want to lose your pvp items or some other material stuff man, it used to provide rp and it can again if things are allowed to be somewhat like they were pre-3.0.

I totally agree with you, I'm not saying that's how it should be done. I would rather have someone rp with a possible mark and learn their character's rp schedule in order to plan when they'd be rping some where else, so they can break into a home. Purposely waiting until someone is offline to steal from them is a **** move, however, just because someone is offline shouldn't prohibit you from being able to continue with a theft either way.

  2. Being that I was a member of the original Master Thieves Guild, I feel that the whole system of lock picking killed rp for our guild and lead to its shut down. The fact that you only get 3 rolls per lock pick and are allowed 3 per person ( I think is still how it is ) is kind of bull ****. Any thief worth their weight in gold would come prepared and bring plenty of supplies to break and enter into a marked home they wish to steal from.

As for the rp factor of things, I always thought having a GM around was helpful because it allowed for moderation in stealing because we all know how greedy people can be when they spot those 6 stacks of iron blocks or a double chest full of pristine armour. We need to keep a GM involved in these things, so we have people stealing only what they can rply carry as well as actually role playing the whole theft.

Another thing I'd like to point out is the: "I need to be online, otherwise it isn't fair and provides me with no rp" excuse people have for not wanting their stuff stolen. I know the majority of people on this server stay in all day and play LotC, but you guys and gals do realize how thefts actually work, right? The thief isn't going to wait for you to get home before they try to break in... They check out the place and figure out times of the day where you are usually gone from your home before they decide whether the risk of breaking in is worth it.

We need a new system that doesn't severely punish or handicap the potential would-be thief from actually wanting to rply break into a house or vault. Everything from 1.0 up to I think it was mid 3.0 was fine when it came to thief rp, especially lock picking. People were able to break into homes with the help of a GM and never did they steal more then what was 20% of the chests contents. There was actually quite a bit of rp from this too, as long of the right people were doing it. You could have someone distract the home's owner for a while as you or your team broke into said owners home and stole a few goods here and there. No one was really hurt and it was expected and known that if you weren't careful your stuff could be stolen.

People on this map in general seem extremely item hungry and will make up a lot of excuses for why they believe they don't deserve to be stolen from, saying they need to be online for it, or you can only open doors, etc. However, at the end of the day, we need to realize that the right people that want to do this are usually doing it for rp more then they do it for items.

I believe we need to rework this current system and make it into something that will actually be used for rp and not just something that is there. I know very, very few people that actually bother with it because it inhibits role play and is an all around pointless system that hasn't allowed much for thief rp since it's original concept was put into place back in mid 3.0.

    Hey man, chill. :p

This is something that's been in the works since October and I'm just glad this chapter is finally coming to a reasonable close. Likely the changes presented today will help quell any misconceptions about the rules and in turn this will ensure we have no future issues.

Thank you to Combustionary, Fireheart, and Cosmic!

I'm chill, I'm just saying that this can happen. I've seen it happen in the past and have even caught the staff attempting to change the rules before and claim they were the rules all along even after I had a screenshot of the rules before they were "fixed.". Either way, I appreciate the work these three have put into updating the rules because they needed to be updated anyways. Sucks for DrakeHaze, but it happens.

Looking to buy large amounts of cobwebs or nets, we need roughly 300 and are willing to discuss a reasonable price for such a large amount.

If you believe you can assist with this task, please contact Roderick of House Greymane with your information. [MrNewVegas101]

    House Greymane

    House History:

House Greymane is not a shining example of luxury and high standing lineage, it is in fact a House born on the principles of hard work and dedication to the Orenian Empire. The House was formed by former Patriarch Charles Greymane, a steadfast man born into peasantry. Because of this the Empire holds little to no record of his life prior to his service to Oren.

What is known about him prior to the House of Greymane being established is that he started out in humble beginnings and was a poacher in the King’s woods. However, because poaching was illegal he attracted the attention of the locals as well as the Grand Knight Gideon Silverblade, who personally went out with a detachment of men to arrest the mysterious poacher. Little is known what transpired in the woods during this manhunt, but what has been recorded is that Charles was given the option to enlist in the military or face exile from the Empire. The next recorded documentation states that through exemplary service he was Knighted and brought into the Order of the Dragon.

Years after his ascension into the Orenian military, Charles had build up quite a fortune while serving under House Flay, a House personally used by Emperor Godfrey Horen to get things done no matter the cost. Due to his actions within House Flay, Emperor Horen allowed Charles Greymane to purchase a Writ of Nobility and become a Masterly House. Using his newfound nobility, Charles was able to purchase a small barony within the lands of House Silverblade and dubbed the lands Shadowvale. All was well for a few years after this, but then the denizens of Asulon were forced to leave for better pastures as a huge storm of epic proportions enveloped what was once their home.

Upon arriving in new lands now known as Anthos, Charles joined up with House Blackmont; a House born from House Flay. His continued service to the Empire granted him the right to a new barony and he acquired the swamplands just outside of Abresi, renaming them to the Greymarsh. He made the land into something no one else thought would be livable and attracted quite a few peasants to live there underneath his calm but steady hand.

While ruling in the Greymarsh, Charles looked for a wife and was presented with the daughter of Lord Edmund Stafyr, Melina Stafyr. It was at first a quiet marriage, but the two grew to love each other and were blessed with four beautiful children. Their two eldest children were twin boys Alphonz and Maximillion, their next eldest was daughter Scarlett, and then the youngest was son Thomas. The family prospered for quite some time before Melina passed away, this lead to a bitterness in Charles and caused quite some strife within the family. While this was happening a civil discord of some sorts was erupting within the Empire, causing Charles to earn the title of Duke of Corpathia. Because of his newfound power Charles grew greedy and after a fight with his youngest son Thomas, he strong armed the new Emperor William Horen to exile his own blood from the Empire. Little is known of what happened after these events, but what is known from House Blackwell was that Charles Greymane’s children split off from the House and formed their own, leaving Charles to die alone and bitter.

Once the patriarch of House Greymane had passed and his children had left him the house dwindled away and disappeared from the history books for quite some time before emerging from what seemed like nowhere in Vailor. Roderick Greymane, son of Thomas Greymane, had claimed himself patriarch of the almost forgotten House and aimed to bring it back into the history books of the Empire. He immediately set to work and pledged his Loyalty to Archduke August d’Amaury, becoming a vassal of his House and bannerman to House Ruric. Respecting his House as one of the oldest in Oren, the Rurics allowed for Roderick to use the swamplands within their county in order for him to build up his numbers and assist them in the war against the Dwarves.
