  1. "A man who abandons his brothers in their time of need, is not a man at all but a coward looking out only for himself as he greedily takes the first chance to run away that he can..." Roderick would say as he watches the man drop to his knees and whimper like a sniveling child. "War may never change, but it seems that a man who would abandon the empire to fight for the rebellion, to then switch sides yet again surely will."
  2. Good to see what was written by the players, though it's sad to see how many of these answers don't actually provide any actual input besides saying a yes or no. From how heated we see people get about certain topics, we sure seem to have very few people giving well thought out opinions.
  3. Good to hear things are being done, thanks for commenting. I get that, but we've known this for quite some time now and are moving at a snails pace to do anything it seems. We shouldn't be losing a perk every few weeks, it should all be addressed right away and handled as soon as possible due to the fact that this is such a serious issue. I just don't see why it's taken this long to address this issue, if the administration team knows what is and isn't allowed why not simply remove the perks all together instead of dragging it on. If we are going to lose it anyways, it's better to take it now all together rather than to make us wait a few weeks in between as our perks are slowly dwindling.
  4. Could we possibly receive a list of the perks we will be allowed to keep, because it seems like a lot of things have been removed from donation perks recently. I don't see the point of having all these donation packages if you're going to keep downgrading their worth and value to the players if you keep taking things away. This has been a constant problem over the years with players getting less and less worth for their monetary donations. Because let's be honest here, a large majority of the player base only donates to the server because of the certain perks they receive from the individual packages. If you have to remove these because you are required to do so then I ask that you guys revise the perk system as well as update the page so it's accurate and honest to the players that are potentially wasting their money on false perks that will no longer be there to use.
  5. Roderick reads over the thesis, casually stroking his beard as he does so, thinking out loud he says, "While much of this is true in certain aspects, I feel as though this is a tad bit one-sided." he would take a sip from a flask at his belt. "Perhaps if this were a much simpler world then this thesis would hold some merit, however, it is not." Roderick would chuckle softly, "If anything nationalism is working together for the greater good of one's country and if either side, both in this case, decide to ignore the other instead of working out their differences then war and disorder will surely arise as it has done thus far." setting the parchment down he sighs, "If the Emperor would acknowledge his faults as well as the rebels acknowledging their own, then perhaps this issue of war wouldn't be needed, but sometimes war is the only option in order to purge the sickness and greed that takes hold in the hearts of men." he mutters to himself, "We shall have to see what this war shall fix or destroy..."
  6. I always thought it was like the GM island or something, were Leo and Wrynn able to enter or did it kick them out as well?
  7. "Sounds like a man with a plan, one that isn't afraid to do what needs to be done while the Emperor sits on his throne doing nothing but rejoicing in his own wealth and titles..." Roderick states in a matter of fact opinion.
  8. Glad to see that the post that tells the truth of what happened to the Emperor was deleted while the false one that supports him not having to die is allowed to stay. No bias there.

Cracker doesn't have to PK. I put up a post describing an rp event, if he wants to keep his character and ignore roleplay then that his perogative. Should he feel that my post is unjust perhaps we can speak to an admin?

  9. Roderick considers the fact that all of the Emperor's guard was slain that the men attacking him would make sure he was dead, regardless of a fool killing himself on just one blade.
  10. I agree with a lot of what you've said, and at the end of the day it seems like the issue isn't really with the rp behind lockpicking it's with the person. Some players would rather abuse the system for their own personal gain rather then for providing rp, while others would rather abuse the fact that they have lwc and don't think they should be stolen from because of it. The server as it is now is sitting in a very different mindset from what it once used to be back when Villain Apps and thievery rp was a more accepted thing. Unless these certain players can get over themselves and join the rp of the server I don't think anything will work. The only way I see things changing is if the staff team actually enforced and encouraged players to rp rather then just allowing them to be on the server for the sole purpose of skilling and hoarding their items. A new system needs to be put into place, but the player base needs to realize lockpicking and thievery are both rp things and shouldn't be frowned upon just because there is a chance they might lose a few items.
  11. I'm all for pvp as well, but I think you are over exaggerating the extent of how things would be if a GM were involved in the rp of stealing from someone. You are taking the worst possible scenario and making it out to be like that's how all people will do things if allowed to steal from locked chests. Get over yourself and realize that not every is that item hungry and most people that do the rp, don't actually want the items. Those that need iron usually have it, so I don't know why you are so afraid of a select few people trying to rp something that interests them.
  12. Sounds like you are obviously doing it for OOC items as well, perhaps you need to learn to handle things in RP and not focus so much on the time wasted and enjoy the server for what it's main focus is... Role play.
  13. It's called role play, not retarded. I'm sorry you are being stolen from IRL, but you come onto this server to rp. Being a thief is a part of the fantasy theme, like it or not. Just because you have to waste hours creating a set of Prot I iron armour doesn't mean you automatically should be exempt from having someone steal from you if they go through the proper rp of doing so. Like I've said in my previous responses, people need to realize that just because you donate to the server and happen to get the ability to lock your chests does NOT mean you deserve the privilege of never being robbed. So sorry you just lost 10+ hours worth of work on a set, but someone came in and stole it because they rp'd and they just happened to get the items from a chest the GM let them have. Also, I'm fairly positive GM's usually give you odds and ends, it's not like they are going to be giving away everything in your chest. It's role play and if you don't like role playing on a server where thieves actually get to steal from you, then you need to leave or realize how ridiculous you are being about something that happens in real life and in rp.
  14. I feel like this would be farmed like crazy and then you'd have people with maxed lockpicking going into houses and taking everything in under a few minutes. It needs to be more of an rp thing instead of making it mechanical.
  15. If thievery was role played properly and not just for items then it would provide rp for you as a victim. The transition from VA's where you had to prove you could rp being a thief to allowing people to commit villainous acts without a VA killed that type of mind set. The fact that you lost a large amount of hay because you simply don't have the money to donate is a sad thing to hear because I'm willing to bet the people who stole from you had no intention of rping and just wanted to items for skilling. It's sad how the removal of things such as the original system of lockpicking has allowed being item hungry to be the norm on LotC. I see more and more posts defending how players should be able to keep their stuff simply because they donated. Donating money is for helping keep the server up, not so you can feel special because you can keep people out of your chests full of pointless items.
  16. Or we can just remove everything because people will ***** about how it takes away from their rp immersion. Let us all just sit around a big camp fire with a thumb up our butts and sing happy songs. Literally, I have rarely seen people do what you just described with all their stuff. When it does come to storing items of value, some people will store it in the walls and under their floor. People have been doing this to hide their **** for years whether it's on an rp server or not, it's just something you have to get used to. Like I said, people rping thievery do it for the experience not the items, so even if they don't get swords or diamonds, most people will just enjoy the experience. Quit trying to remove something just because you don't want to lose your pvp items or some other material stuff man, it used to provide rp and it can again if things are allowed to be somewhat like they were pre-3.0. I totally agree with you, I'm not saying that's how it should be done. I would rather have someone rp with a possible mark and learn their character's rp schedule in order to plan when they'd be rping some where else, so they can break into a home. Purposely waiting until someone is offline to steal from them is a **** move, however, just because someone is offline shouldn't prohibit you from being able to continue with a theft either way.
  17. Being that I was a member of the original Master Thieves Guild, I feel that the whole system of lock picking killed rp for our guild and lead to its shut down. The fact that you only get 3 rolls per lock pick and are allowed 3 per person ( I think is still how it is ) is kind of bull ****. Any thief worth their weight in gold would come prepared and bring plenty of supplies to break and enter into a marked home they wish to steal from. As for the rp factor of things, I always thought having a GM around was helpful because it allowed for moderation in stealing because we all know how greedy people can be when they spot those 6 stacks of iron blocks or a double chest full of pristine armour. We need to keep a GM involved in these things, so we have people stealing only what they can rply carry as well as actually role playing the whole theft. Another thing I'd like to point out is the: "I need to be online, otherwise it isn't fair and provides me with no rp" excuse people have for not wanting their stuff stolen. I know the majority of people on this server stay in all day and play LotC, but you guys and gals do realize how thefts actually work, right? The thief isn't going to wait for you to get home before they try to break in... They check out the place and figure out times of the day where you are usually gone from your home before they decide whether the risk of breaking in is worth it. We need a new system that doesn't severely punish or handicap the potential would-be thief from actually wanting to rply break into a house or vault. Everything from 1.0 up to I think it was mid 3.0 was fine when it came to thief rp, especially lock picking. People were able to break into homes with the help of a GM and never did they steal more then what was 20% of the chests contents. There was actually quite a bit of rp from this too, as long of the right people were doing it. You could have someone distract the home's owner for a while as you or your team broke into said owners home and stole a few goods here and there. No one was really hurt and it was expected and known that if you weren't careful your stuff could be stolen. People on this map in general seem extremely item hungry and will make up a lot of excuses for why they believe they don't deserve to be stolen from, saying they need to be online for it, or you can only open doors, etc. However, at the end of the day, we need to realize that the right people that want to do this are usually doing it for rp more then they do it for items. I believe we need to rework this current system and make it into something that will actually be used for rp and not just something that is there. I know very, very few people that actually bother with it because it inhibits role play and is an all around pointless system that hasn't allowed much for thief rp since it's original concept was put into place back in mid 3.0.
  18. Countless hours of being an Al'khazar gate guard and being hated on for it. #represent
  19. *Roderick reads the flier, nodding as he talks to himself* "Those Zytiaear's are good folk and govern the town well, bit of a crazy lot, but at least they have good cheese..."
