Aye Gms have rolled back my unregioned base in the wilds twice now after heavy griefing.
-
((Prices updated, cookies added to Vagrant Merchant.)) Overstocked on diamonds, iron, and gold. Get it while it lasts.
-
Would be griefing and they'd be banned.
-
Prices updated, Price list added, Raw and cooked porkchops added.
-
My good sir, Would you be looking for the raw or cooked variety of pork? ((Ink would be a great product RP wise, Thanks))
-
The Vagrant Merchant is currently purchasing diamonds (275) and iron ingots (26).

Really like this idea, its different. Someone isn't walking into the server and screaming "How do I become and undead?" They are creating a new evil in the land of Aegis. Not new to mythology, just new to what we typically deal with. Furthermore, aside from that one post I read about Dead and the whole "Die Wretch" thing, I believe he is a great addition to this server and would love to see him as a villain. He is trying to create something I have found to be severely lacking since I joined...conflict.

Glade to see you are all going strong. I thought of something that I didn't really think of before. I am in the process of renovating my base, which is a 150 block sphere surrounded by large walls. The entire top level will be tree farms, wheat farms, cane farms, there is also some other stuff there, such as a place to train weapons, open areas for redstone wiring and such. the only thing that would be hard to do is the mine as i'm waiting until after my girlfriends birthday to donate for the protected land. Anyways if need be you could schedule your field trips there should you want. I have autoshops set up that would allow the moving of items between classes as referenced by my previous post in the ideas and lore section. The land is about half a game day walk from oren. I currently use it as a new player starting point when I find people that lack knowledge. But should you wish it would be free granted you give excess supplies back to the shops there and don't grief =P.

Selling Mass Cobble Stone or Stone either or.
Zyn replied to Valdis's topic in Aegis Roleplay Archive
Yeah I guess I'm for it then if it were to be recorded by kingdom. Simply as to not reduce the need for travelling merchants. So Oren would have a separate spreadsheet from Laurelin. Would be helpful to be able to find out where resources are needed or abundant. Of course this would make said spreadsheets extremely valuable to whoever got the information firsthand. -
Selling Mass Cobble Stone or Stone either or.

Uggg, As always your comments, rps, and suggestions provide potentially massive leaps to the server society as a whole. However, i do not believe this is a good idea for two reasons. 1. It would be kind of meta or lead to metaing. Example: "I won't pay 26 minas for iron" "Why" "It's only worth 25" "Where did you hear that?" "Uggg's standardized pricing spreadsheet" =P 2. As a merchant I know that the profit margins are greatly affected by what we are willing to buy and sell at. I rely on smart people and insanely low profit margins to keep my business running. However something like this would reduce my 2-5% profit margins into .5% or so. Simply because we would be dealing with fractions of a minas in major trade hubs. This isn't so bad for me in the long run, but for all the other shops that want their 20-30% profit margins to continue, will just end up in a whole lot of QQ. I'm tired though so maybe I'm reading something wrong which will become clear at a later date. -
Notch failed to add support for this. Plug ins can only delete the orbs off the ground.

Just noticed the props to me in the curriculum =P, Thanks Sting)) Just checking the status of the Academy. I saw Sting perusing The Studious Merchant earlier and wish to reaffirm my earlier offer of a large free donation of books and bookshelves which shall be presented at the completion of my new farmland. -Zyn

Drama - Covered in Drama Architecture - Add to History class with building codes for cities, too difficult to show in classroom. Engineering - Remove, too difficult to show in a classroom Economics - Covered in Economics Diplomacy - Add to history, teach them ranks and who the leaders are. Or Drama class in RPing convos with diplomats. Military History/ Tactics - History Botany - Remove Survival Skills - Hunting class Aegean History (focusing on culture more than war) - History class Archaeology - Remove Management Course - Remove Some to consider: Cooking - Health and Development Blacksmithing - Health and Development Healing - Remove Combat training - Hunting class. Classes need to be kept small and broad, we are teaching new players how to play for now. Down the road we can offer cooking degrees or blacksmithing degrees to show potential employers how qualified they are.

Everyone, These are brilliant ideas. In the beginning it was Freya, Wolfie, Sting and I discussing ideas in the Ideas and Lore section. All brilliant stuff but it was just what it was posted in, An idea. Now it has spiraled into some enormous beast. What we all need to realize is that what we were discussing originally is the full potential of the idea and not the path to get there. What you need now is a path to get to fully realizing the academy. You don't need 60 different courses or 600 blocks of land. You need one classroom, anywhere between 3-7 courses and dedicated staff willing to help people learn. You start small and build your way up. Prove results, present a strong sense of leadership and structure and give new players the means to succeed. On from there we can approach Kingdom leaders requesting plots of land, large enough to accommodate the number of classes and students we wish to possess. The initial classes should do two things, introduce players to the common mechanics of LOTC in both /commands and RP mechanics as well as create a fun forgiving RP experience. When Wolfie offered me the position of High Merchant my planned curriculum entailed proper trading schemes using economic principles in an RP fashion, and ooc /shop commands ie. /shop find item. Fairly simply to get through but vastly helpful to new players. Simply because many new players buy over priced items because they don't know how to shop around. Here is a list of classes I believe should be a part of the starting curriculum: 1. Criminal Law: A course that will discuss in details the laws of Aegis, such as anti-griefing, Villainous acts and restrictions, RPing a kill, Metagaming, etc. Purpose: Keep players from staying off the ban list 3 days after they get accepted to the server. Teaching Reqs: None, just someone with a clean record. 2. History: A course that details the lore of Aegis to its students for a better understanding of the world around them. Purpose: Increasing immersion. Teaching Reqs: Scholars, and forum lurkers. 3. Drama: A course where students act out plays, maybe performing at the Laurelin Theater. Purpose: Give students first hand knowledge of period phrases and speech to help them become better roleplayers. Teaching Reqs: A good roleplayer. 4. Health and Development: A course outlining the skill system in an RP manner detailing how a player can get started and plan for their future, curriculum can be improved with the hunger system as well. Purpose: Getting rid of the "Why can't I punch the tree?" question. Teaching Reqs: None 5. Economics: A course outlining trade commands and markets. Purpose: Stop new players from getting scammed out of their money Teaching Reqs: None 6. Hunting: Basic course outlining hot to kill the assorted mobs of Aegis. Purpose: Give new players a source of minas and the knowledge to run from pigmen for the ime being. Teaching Reqs: a combat focused player. All pretty basic but a good start. One classroom with 4 desks and 6 teachers cycling in and out is all that is really needed. If we can reduce the ban activity on new players and improve the general RP experience, I'm sure leaders will be more willing to allot land to the Academy. Diplomas: Simply a book with an Id number and a students name detailing what course they have completed for RP purposes which can later be added with additional credentials when they say: complete Lumberjacking class once the course is added. We need a solid foundation before we grow.

After his Mother's passing when he was six, He truly had no one but his father to care for him and thus accompanied him on trips across the land. Zyn received his education on the road, strumming a lute on the winding paths of Aegis during the day, and pouring over books, and account records in caves and rooms of inns at night, all at the behest of his nomadic father. He picked up hunting and foraging along the way with favoritism towards the bow and farming during extended stays in remote locations. At 19 his Father became ill and passed away, leaving him with a cart and provisions with which to continue the nomadic lifestyle of trade and music. Zyn continued that path for many years until a disastrous run in with a group of bandits raided his camp, leaving him with nothing but the clothes on his back. Now at twenty-four he must begin anew. -Character Age: 24 -Character Appearance:Brown hair, goatee and green eyes. -Character Personality:Cool and composed, Maintains a passive expression most of the time, Always prefers to use wits over brawn. -Your ambitions:Attain wealth and self sufficiency. Hear as many tales of valor as any willing person will tell. -Can your character read or write?: Yes, taught by father. -Can your character mine?: Not well, prefers to purchase needed goods at as cheap a price as he may haggle. -Are you a capable builder? Simple shelters, hollowed out caves even a wooden house are all possible. Anything on a grand scale should be done by a professional for minas though. -Can you wield a sword?: Not with any special prowess, typically more in a brandish capacity hoping to scare off would be attackers. Years of performance allows for dramatic flair but not much in the way of practical use in combat. -Enjoy Farming?: Yes, farming is true self sufficiency. -Does your character have any special skills?:] Archery, Trade, and music (OOC working out period pieces with noteblocks atm, Typically lute music) -A screenshot of your skin: -Other Information: Excited to join you on the server. Will probably be quiet for the first few days to get a feel for the general atmosphere of the RP. Also, would like to flesh out my bio in the future so as to not leave any gaps should they arise. I am strictly going for the broader sense at the moment.
