Well here is my bit that contributed to the Mages Guild Lore.[referencing firespirit's post]
The Planes of Delphian(Arcane)(AKA Void).
Sighing, I was going through all my belongings that I took before I fled Aegis onboard the Alras galley. It was a meagre pile, laid out before the island Ogland sent me to find. He said Arcane picked the island, and thought it was a good place to build the tower. So far construction has not even begun. My belongings; A few books, a quill and ink bottle, some bread to stave off hunger on the trip.
Squatting on the grass, I touched the covers for each tome, reminiscing stories meant for those who'd dare pry open their covers. I picked up a particular tome.
It was old, but I could make out it used to be a brightly red colour tome, that has faded away over time. I notice this was the book I found in the Mages Tower, in a Mage's quarter by the name of Bell.
I just found this tome a day before we were attacked by Iblees, and forced into the Verge. Everyone was busy building ships and carting supplies, so I pushed my curiosity to the recess of my mind and busied myself gathering logs for the shipwright.
Flipping open the pages, the first thing i was greeted by was dust. Blinking rapidly, I made out the glyphs, and found the faded words "The Origins of Magic". The tome to be bound by sheepskin, high quality writing material. Whatever that was recorded here, was done in efforts to preserve the tome for the future.
In a spidery writing, I read with amazement and recalling the time Arcane explained his existence to me and Ogland in the Galahar Mages Tower.
In my mind, I hear Arcane's deep voice, filling the room with every syllable when he spoke, such power he held when he still existed.
"Before the begining of time, before the creation of aegis, there was only void.
Where one could exist as thought, not as energy or spacial being, only as thought. It was from this that the world was created, it is not for me to say by whom or what. We will just be content with the fact that it was. so the world was created.
We are not concerning ourselves with any of this though, that was just some important background. Simply put it is the void which i use to travel. Though the void which exists, in what way it sits for it is impossible to describe it to you, I can travel as thought.
I disassemble myself from this physical world and become a thought in the void, then i reassemble myself where i wish to be. It is dangerous process and I have sometimes been stuck between thought and physical...not a nice experience i have to say.
But I will warn you now, you cannot enter the void, you cannot travel through thought. you are physical beings, always have been and you would be lost if you tried. It is possible for me to transport other through it, but you would not remember any of it as you do not actually pass through it."
Exiting my memory, I turn to read that the tome described more or less the same story. I contemplated and mused that in the end, Arcane was supposedly a Aengul, but then again it could have been just a rumour. What could be the difference in theory that say another powerful Mage could do the same thing as Arcane did, and dissassemble himself as a thought? All spells originate as "thoughts" to begin with, the intent to attempt a "action", and the result is a change in the enviroment you are in. It is only a matter of power the vessel the body can hold in order to accomplish the spell.
Then it struck me. What if we tried to dissassemble ourselves? How could we attempt to reform in the Void, and then from there, another location on Asulon? It would essentially be spells of creating and destroying, but linked in a fashion so you are created as you are destroyed. Does the newly created person on the other side of Asulon still "me"? It could be a entirely new person altogether that retains my looks and memory.
Then I take another look at the problem, the Void itself. How do I make it so that there is a link between Asulon and the Void? There are no records of it, save the theory through ripped fabrics of reality, the spawns of Iblees that still reside in the Nether travel through it at night and terrorize the residents. Wait. Ripped fabrics of reality? I know a when a cataclysm of magic happens, a ripped is made into the fabric of reality. But what if we could force open the hole, large enough to link the Void FROM Asulon?
If that was the case, we would have a area to "recreate" ourselves, and essentially, making traveling to the Void possible.
I recall, that Arcane once explained to me the existence of a giant magical map room that existed within the Mage Tower back in Aegis that regular Mages could use to teleport to various locations around Aegis. Was the process not the same? Assembling and Destroying oneself to relocate the body. But that could not have been using the void, or we would not have remembered it or possibly survived it.
Looking through my books I brought from the tower, I see that I scavenged arcane's journal when i was fleeing the tower.
"Warping to the node is dangerous at best... It is incredible I found it, at such a distance finding a node is extremely difficult..... I have never felt a node of this power .... feel the island not far away ... raging tempest upon ancient ground, ... The fields of magic around the tower are phenomenal...
I discovered many magical anomalies... were wells of magic... but at the same time were voids of it. ...they were drawing me to them...
At long last there I was, at the ruins of an ancient tower, magic positively humming in the area. The architecture of what was left was alien... Although it was an ancient tower it was very advanced, perhaps surpassing that of Aegis. So I began to reconstruct the tower..."
I stared hard at the words, and sentences that seem to strike my very brain, making me feel dizzy. The original tower had a node of power, and was summoned from the void. What if this node was connected to Aegis, and formed a Ley line, a network of magical channel of energies that exist within the earth that kept Aegis in existence? What if this form of Warping was by being channeled into the Ley Line? Our beings are disassembled to merge with the powers of the Ley Lines, only to be reformed at the desired destination. That is the only explaination to how Mages could have used this magical map room without killing themselves or losing their memories.
ANd what if, this very island we are standing on, is actually similiar to the one Arcane described? What if this very island was a giant node, connecting to the Ley lines
[This story was written should mages ever get some form of teleport/warp to the tower. It also allows more future events regarding the Ley lines to put in use, and also connects the magic lore slayer15855 wrote.]
