  1. Under Review I will indicate whether or not you've been accepted in just a few moments.
  2. Denied - Your application lacks effort... and pretty much everything else. If you truly want to be a part of the server, do take a look at the accepted applications and see how they differ from yours. Please wait 48 hours before reposting. Take this time to read over your application and make necessary edits! It'll be worth it once you get accepted. Aaaaand I just got sniped.
  3. Minecraft name: ggt3416 Forum name: Alys Di'Set What do you think are the top five things, that are most important in an application and why? 1. Understanding of Roleplaying and Laws "What do you know about Roleplaying? What is it?" Much like how firefighters don't run into burning buildings without being properly trained, no one should run into Aegis before understanding what roleplaying really means. LotC is, after all, an RP-oriented server, and merely knowing how to play Minecraft does not mean knowing how to play LotC. They should know what meta- and powergaming means, why they are not allowed, and what roleplaying entails. In addition, the applicant should be aware that they are giving up parts of the Minecraft experience for the sake of roleplay. Their character should not able to do all of these: farm, fish, cook, AND swing a diamond sword around. An understanding of roleplaying and laws ensures that LotC is enjoyable for everyone and stays a strictly RP environment. 2. Biography The biography is truly the "do or die" of the application process. One of the many things the applicant can display here is his/her understanding of Lore and ability to immerse his/herself into a strange new world. This immersion is a vital part of roleplaying, and has to show that the applicant has done some research on the world they are entering. The biography should also be complete and has to include all of the parts that make up a character: history, age, appearance, personality, and even further. It's important to portray a realistic character whose traits, from race to personality, not only display coherence but also leave room for development. 3. Unique Contribution to LotC Aegis started out as a blank slate, and each player's small or big contribution has enabled LotC to grow as big as it is today. That being said, applicants should have an idea of how their presence will add to Aegis. Will their character be just another dumb orc, or will he/she be a dumb orc who collects dolls because a con-man once claimed that dolls could come alive and do the orc's bidding in his slumber? Special or odd talents are always nice to see. One should not go overboard with uniqueness, however, as the character requires balance. All traits, beliefs, and talents should be within reason, else the character risks powergaming or absurdity. 4. Answer to Scenarios It's great to see response to scenarios added to the application, because they give the applicant a taste of what they will be experiencing Aegis, along with testing their understanding of LotC laws. These responses should reflect the character's personalities and abilities, and be free of power/metagaming. If something villainous happens, the application reviewer has a chance to point out that villanous behaviors require a villain app and to ask them to read the rules over once more. 5. Effort All questions on the application are asked for a reason, and the applicant each should be answered in a thorough fashion with correct grammar and format. Effort not only shows the applicant's enthusiasm for the server, but also reflects how the player will act ingame. Good grammar, for example, is vital for interaction with others in Aegis, so it's wonderful to see someone taking those extra five minutes to capitalize their I's and punctuate properly. That doesn't mean people who do not have an amazing grasp on the English language should be barred from the server, however, because many do not. If an application has horrendous grammar, but otherwise fulfills the critical requirements, it should still be considered seriously if the applicant takes the time to edit to perfection and reapply. This receptiveness to criticism shows a willingness to learn and improve. Overall, there should be clear indication through an applicant's effort that he/she really does want to be a part of this wonderful community.
  4. **A hastily scrawled note pinned against the bulletin board.** Greetings, Aegeans. This is wholly last minute, but at the moment it seems that my fiance and I will be wedded in front of empty chairs. I find these guests rather stiff, and are not the best audience. Unfortunately, most of the friends we had originally planned to invite are unable to attend. That being said, you are all invited to occupy these seats as I, Alys, am joined in matrimony to the wonderfully amazing Voak. Our ceremony will be performed by the High Prince himself. This merry event will take place next to the Sister City in the lovely grove that many other elven weddings have taken place. The set date is ((2:00PM PST / 9:00PM GMT / 5:00PM EST)). Feel free to send me ((/t ggt3416)) or Voak ((/t Razgriz_Legend)) a pigeon some time beforehand if you wish to be shown the way. And what will a wedding be without food being thrown at you? As an extra treat, a pair of Aeriel's followers will be hosting their very own wedding shortly after in the same area. Trouble is NOT invited. ((Date has been set for a few weeks now, no want to move anymore.))
  5. This cause sounds like a wonderful pursuit that I might be interested in. I'm curious, however. Which charity are benefited, exactly? Is it orphans? Beggars? Misunderstood pigmen?

  8. Just got my mining permit today only to learn that I have to mine cobblestone for more than a day straight to even touch a piece of iron? :( I can appreciate that experience at higher levels is a fraction of what it was before, but perhaps have some mercy on us lower leveled and move the tool requirements back a little?
  9. Out-Of-Character: -Minecraft Account Name: ggt3416 -How old are you?: 100751 -Time-Zone/Country of Residence: PST(GMT-8)/USA -Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: Yes. It's not perfect all of the time, but I try! -Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: Well, I like pie. -How much time could you be on the server weekly?: 10-ish. I can spare at least an hour each day. -How long have you played minecraft?: For a month now. -What do you know about roleplaying?: To me, roleplaying is assuming the role of your character, taking in his/her background and making choices as if he/she would. I've been roleplaying for a couple of years on MUDs, mainly Achaea. Therefore I am familiar with the mechanics of roleplaying, and with how you to be a little OOC but still stay in character. For example, using "daydreaming" as an excuse for going AFK. -What do you expect this server will be like?: By looking around, I can tell that the dedication and details put into this server will make it an amazing RP Minecraft experience. I can see myself getting lost in Aegis. -What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: To be honest, I've been looking far and wide for a serious, immersing Minecraft RP server for a couple of weeks now. I've tried a lot of them, and find myself either lost and confused, or unsatisfied at the not-so-serious RP. There haven't been any I've stuck to just yet, but this looks like it could be the one. -Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules? What about the lore?: Yes. -Name the 4 races on this server. The Descendant races include Elves, Orcs, Humans, and Dwarves. -How did you hear about us?: Top 10 MC Servers on Gamefront. -What is your The Lord Of Craft forum account name? Overlooked In-Character: -Character Name: Alys -What is your Race?: Wood Elf -Biography: For two and a half centuries, Alys resided blissfully in the depths of her forest home. Having never known civilization, Alys loved being a part of nature. She chose the profession of a farmer and tended to the trees and animals with great respect. In her free time, Alys spent hours in her kitchen, experimenting with cooking but never quite succeeding. Populated by peaceful citizens, Alys' elven community prospered for centuries without outside influence. They survived on the land, taking only what they needed from the forest and earth. However, the first signs of foreigners began to appear. Little things slowly at first, like a pie of rusty axes here or small group of fell trees there. Then it became apparent that there was another presence inside the forest, one that did not think twice about destroying nature. Each covered with sparkling steel plates and mounted on horses, the strangers finally appeared to the elvens. Alys watched them speak to her people, intrigued at first by their exquisite appearance and equipment. She was told afterwards by the elders of the humans' determination to expand their city, and they were not allowing anything to stand in their way. The humans planned to burn down the forest. Some elves suggested surrender and others, like Alys, stood firmly, not willing to give up the land they've treasured on their entire lives. For the next terrifying days, Alys defended her beloved forest from the treetops, bow in hand. She fought hard, but her inexperience with combat made her no comparison for the well-armed humans. The elves never stood a chance, and the forest fell within eight days. Alys was among the few survivors, who were expelled from the ashy wasteland. Passing the human city for the first time, Alys finally understood what the word "civilization" meant. It became, to her, a sickening violation of nature and sparked her hatred in cities. After a long journey, Alys found herself in Malinor, ready to start over. -Character Age: 261 -Character Appearance: Alys has a set of green eyes, with red hair. Her normal attire is a simple leather dress. -Character Personality: Quiet and pensive, Alys does not usually interest herself with others, although she is quite helpful when someone needs it. She carries an air of seriousness and calmness, and rarely displays any other emotions. Inwardly, she is a perfectionist and tends to criticize herself. Alys is unfamiliar with the other races, so she bears distrust against them, and especially to humans. -Your ambitions: Having faced total defeat once before, Alys fears a repeat of failure. Thus she wishes to master archery, to better defend the things she loves. -Can your character read or write?: Yes to both, thanks to her education as a child. -Can your character mine?: Having lived on natural resources her whole life, Alys is familiar with gathering them from the ground. -Are you a capable builder? Yes. -Can you wield a sword?: Alys has never swung a sword, she finds them heavy and prefers the bow and arrow instead. -Enjoy Farming?: Very much! -Does your character have any special skills?: The special skill to fail at boiling water. -A screenshot of your skin: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/Enalyn/elf.jpg -Other Information: None.
