Mili, what derogatory comments? Point them out please. At this point everyone is just banding together to protect their friends regardless of whether or not I am right.

Who's flaming? I am simply discussing something. Hawk is too in his own, special, image-laden text-lite kind of way  . There is room for everyone on the internet.

Thank you for a neutral post jackbren. I would like to point out that I have in the past given them suggestions on how to improve in a kind and polite manner. They were totally ignored. I would be very sorry if Vaq felt I was targeting him, I have specifically said the Development Team as a whole was responsible in order to avoid singling him out actually. Since I believe this was a Team failure and should not be put on a single person. As for you Hawk, You have been instigating this whole time, as I said before, solutions have been provided. If you continue to ignore that in order to try and further an argument it's not going to work.

I am loving the personal attacks right now, keep them coming and I will keep ignoring them. Really, I am not twelve, I could care less what someone on the internet thinks of me. If some of you actually read the entire thread and didn't just TLDR my posts we might actually get somewhere. My conversation is not with the players, it is with the GM and Development Team. Seventh, you responded to an old post. I have, in fact, rewrote the entire combat system to be more balanced which I believe is the majority of how you were trying to tell me off. I even put a link to it in a previous post that you apparently didn't read. I would also point out that I never said anything about the GM or Development Team sucking, so please stop trying to put words in my mouth. I would also like to inform you that everything I said is totally possible and in fact, quite easy. Take running a test server, all you have to do is run it off the same box as the primary server, there you go, doesn't cost you anything and you avoid these situations for the most part. Before this continues to get out of hand let me make one thing perfectly clear, I support the Development Team and I know that they are effectively learning on the job and mostly doing it for free. This does get them a lot of leeway for things in my book. This does not mean I will not complain very loudly when they make large mistakes. Not only does an angry user base get things fixed faster, it also helps to condition the Development Team for the real world of administering servers and teach them what is, and isn't, acceptable. So, I will continue to complain about it until the problems are fixed, removed from the server completely, or someone can tell me why neither of these things are possible. As a player and someone with a large amount of experience with this it is my responsibility to do so.

A test server can be run on almost anything. It only needs to support a very small amount of people in a very limited area for play testing. As for numbers I couldn't provide any, that's what the testing is for, mathematically you could look here... http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/47041-droolguys-massive-combat-rework/ ...I have been working on that for over six months and it's still not complete and needs to be play tested. However it only partially applies to this situation because of it's changes to the health system. I can say that anything past a 20% slow is too much though, on any piece of armor.

I will respond to Darrian as opposed to everyone since, well, he made the most complete post and it includes just about what everyone said. Alright let's get some stuff straight. Your referencing the poll that went up a day ago? Now I know why I missed it, I was busy yesterday with real life. Either way I am sure you can get a large sampling of the server from a day old poll with 255 total unique votes (at this time). It may have only gone up a day ago, but it has been up for enough time to get a general idea of what the public wants. When people take surveys, do they ask every single person related to the topic about it, or a small group? The answer is a small group, as it yields close to the same results ratio-wise. 255 votes is more than enough for us to know what people want or don't want. The difference is, when people take surveys in real life the "small" sample size is a few thousand people for anything that has widespread impact. Even if the values didn't change 45% is no where near enough for something that effects everyone. Oh, and only 27% actually wanted the physics modification added without any modifications (Which is basically how it went in). That's quite a large majority there. Why can't you guys ever just own your mistakes? Actually, 45% wanted it without modifications. And although this isn't the majority, it was the option with the most votes, and the reason for why we chose it. And why don't we own up to our mistakes? How about you stop making statements that are completely false, seeing as we DO own up to our mistakes and we work to fix them. As was previously mentioned, we volunteered for this position and we take time away from RP to help you guys and the server. The last thing we need is ignorant people raging at us over a mistake we made, no matter how large or small it was. Well, i'll be damned. 45%... my fault I read the poll wrong, your all right. I even emphasized that point and everything. My bad. Either way it's 45% of a poll that was open for one day that sampled a fraction of the server is still not worth anything really. So my point still didn't change. As for the owning your mistakes I think you might want to read back to where your fellow GM said that he wouldn't apologize and that he was being sarcastic. That doesn't mean someone shouldn't voice a serious complaint when the development team does something like this. I think you are failing to see the underlying issue here, they put up a poll and then added the modification ONE DAY LATER without play testing it at all. No, there isn't any problem with voicing a complaint. However, the way you went about voicing it was extremely inappropriate. We are already working to fix the kinks. And there isn't an issue with the poll, as I said above. Extremely inappropriate in what way? Everything I said minus the 27% mistake was true, and still is. I understand they made a mistake, I just want them to understand that this is not a small one... there was no permanent damage but the system itself was so flawed it shouldn't have been used in the first place. It took me a whole 30 seconds listening to someone explain it before I knew it was broken, that's not a lot of time investment. Does it matter whether or not the mistake is small? We already understand it, as we've already had plenty of people bring it up, most of whom brought the issue up in a responsible and mature fashion. And despite the flaws, there is nothing that can't be fixed and it SHOULD be in. Also, now you're complaining about losing 30 seconds of your life? First world problems bro. I never said that the physics shouldn't be in, I said that the plugin was not properly tested before use and that the Development team should have realized this. It's a very basic concept. I also never said I wasted those 30 seconds, if you re-read my statement I am implying that if the Development team had taken 30 seconds to look at what the plugin did, then they would have noticed the problems before they even happened. The statement was in reference to a previous post about how much time the staff spend on us. So if half the server is 14-18 then what is the other 50%? The amount of people over 18 is very low, so where does that put the rest of them? Look I understand that people always get touchy about age comments but the fact is the average age of our player base is only 12-15 years old. And how do you know this? Did you take a survey? Did you ask everyone? Or is this just what you'd like to think? The ages on this server vary greatly, having people as young as ten and people as old or older than 40, and it is fairly spread out too. But until you actually know what you're talking about, don't say "facts" that have no basis or proof. I have no proof, I simple took the average age of Minecraft players as a whole and gave the server a 1 year average boost for good measure. From my personal experience on the server and listening in on TS this number is very accurate. You can't poll it unfortunately because many of the kids will lie about their age, I have already caught many of them doing this. I respect a lot of the staff, that however doesn't mean they are above being lectured every once in a while when they make a bad decision. I fail to see where I am being a horrible person here just because I am calling out the Development team on their bad management of this server addition. There's the thing, we don't need to be lectured. We made a mistake, now get over it. Believe it or not, we didn't put all this stuff in to burden the players, we did it to satisfy the wants of the players, but it unfortunately wasn't executed as well as we thought. This doesn't mean it was a bad decision, in fact it was a great decision that we put it in, as we were testing it. As for being a horrible person? You aren't, but you need to realize where we are coming from, put yourself in our shoes for a moment and think how you would react if a player started "lecturing" us about what we need to do, as if they know better than us. There in lies why this was a bad decision and I am so angry at you all for it... "as we were testing it". You never test a new idea on your live server, ever. It might as well be cast in stone somewhere. At no time is this ever acceptable. The administrative gods would have you burned for heresy if you ever did this kind of rule. Dramatic, I know, but you should get the point. You test on a test server, work out the modification until you are certain there is nothing wrong with every aspect of it. Then release it onto the live server. People will still find things wrong with it that you missed, but hopefully nothing major, even if they do find something major be prepared to shoulder the blame for it. This is how being in a position of authority works, there are drawbacks. The only other thing I would like to point out is that some of your players "DO" know better than you, just because we don't have the friends and the time in order to become a GM doesn't mean that our level of experience might far surpass your own.

Thank you for responding. You should never make a mistake this big and expect to get away with a "Sorry". Was the modification play tested at all? I am lead to believe it wasn't since if it was the mistake wouldn't have been made in the first place. If you are using the active server in order to play test new modifications then I would love to continue lecturing you some more for bad management. The fact that the development team has hurried up and fixed the problems doesn't get them bonus points since the development team caused the problem in the first place. It basically equates out to self preservation. I have another question though regarding your "Most of the player base" statement though, because I hang out on the forums quite a bit and I have never seen an official poll on this or anything before it was implemented. I am not saying you can't change whatever you want, it's your server, I am saying that if you claim you do it for the majority of the server you better have proof to back your statement up. This isn't to say I don't support physics, I do. However when you just add a physics modification with no thought to what the consequences might be I get quite angry because it shows just how little the development team thinks about these modifications sometimes. Just because people ask for something does not mean you give it to them either. The average age of players on the server is barley hitting puberty, let alone knows how to balance and maintain a game system, their minds still run on what's cool and not on what actually works. So in closing, please, at least run the numbers before changing something like this. Thank you for reading my post.

Thank you for your contribution Hawk.

Alright, I am getting extremely dissapointed in the decision making abilities of the people in charge of the server. I have read through this entire thread for a possible explanation of such a horribly... and I mean game-breakingly... unbalanced update to armor and weapons. All of the admin posts have been basically "It will be fixed sometime later." In this situation it should have never been implemented in the first place, it doesn't take a genius to know giving archers the ability to one-hit-kill people in light or no armor and then making it so that anyone in heavy armor can't ever possibly catch an archer, makes them basically god. How about the balance considerations with NPCs? Did anyone realize that it is now impossible to run from them? It is also now impossible to dodge their attacks in melee wearing any armor that provides any worth-while damage reduction. So melees are now reduced to literally a HP race with whatever they are fighting. All in all a very poorly thought out addition to the server. However, on the plus side we did get a new shop plugin that has been direly needed, so kudos on that.

Figured it was time for a donator to chime in in this. I have no problem with everyone having access to /resetme, as it really doesnt provide any benefit other than having a correct character card like people have already said. What I do have a problem with is not being able to glow/sparkle/whatever that was supposed to be for top teir donors. Wherez mah sparklyz!

*posted in the capitols of each nation* Looking to make some coin? We are looking for able bodied people to help in the lawful siege of a town! Experienced mercenaries preferred but not required! Paying 1000 Mina a head! For security reasons the name of said town will not be released until the event itself. Please send word to Ukar (reply to this thread with character name and MC user) if you are interested in this business venture! Thank you for your time. P.S. In the unlikely event that the town being over-run is your own, you will be paid 1000 Mina to peacefully relocate.
