  1. To the pig-******* menagerie of Orenian Dukes, Nobles, ***** Duchess’, and myriad other nameless individuals with meaningless titles:

Your precious Crown Prince, John Owyn, presently (or perhaps formerly) Regent to the ‘Holy’ Orenian Empire in John Sigismund (the cowardly)’s

stead, has for the past Elven day been fed rotten grapes of the Axis vine - being that said grapes were too wrinkled and worm-filled for our swines’ slop -, quenched his thirst with water from the drain after scurrying butchers and scullery maids have washed their hands in it (I bid you take a guess as to what was washed from their hands), and following a hard day’s work breaking pickaxe after pickaxe upon rocks in the quarry (this is occurring while children laugh and sling clumps of hot iron slag from the blacksmith’s forge against him) sleeps on a bed of damp straw in the wet, cool depths of the castle midden.

While I would agree that his accommodations have been more than suitable for a man of his position and heritage, I would be remiss to not offer to

his underlings a ransom for his return (as is the nature of these things) to an existence which, it can be safely said, we rescued him from.

A pittance to the Empire, but the spare change would be convenient to us:

    100,000 Standard Minas

Payable to the gate guard of the Bone Fort within one week of this letter being sent.

    Your betters,

    The Southern Axis Powers

Cam we all take a minute to appreciate the arguement I had last month about ooc skills? The one where I got shot down for calling people out for having characters that don't follow RP when it comes to skills? Like SquirtGun who has 2-3 SuperCal skills on a 19 year old character?

nobody gives a **** winter is over

  3. If you do a skill wipe itll just be the same as before, certain people grinding more than others to get their skills up regardless of whether they rp their profession, and the problem of starting up will still exist since not all new players who want to start their own military group are willing to grind up from scratch

13th of The First Seed, 1555

As of this day, catalyzed by the attempted assassination of Grand King Kardel Irongut by an unknown assailant, the following reforms shall be forthwith enforced by the Primarch Grumdul Frostbeard upon the Grand Legion of Urguan:

    1. Firstly, Legionaries will be given a standard pay based on their rank and contributions to the Grand Legion.
      1. Grunts receive no payment. They must rank up to Stoneguard to receive pay.
      2. Stoneguards are paid 50 minas per year.
      3. Ironbreakers receive 100 minas per year.
      4. Pridebearers receive 150 minas per year.
      5. Centurions receive 200 minas per year.
    2. Secondly, the duties of each Cohort are outlined as follows:
      1. First Cohort will act as personal bodyguards to the Grand King, and are paid 200 minas per year.
      2. Second Cohort will act as the guard force of the Dwarven capital Kal'Ishtul.
      3. Third Cohort will patrol the lands of the Grand Kingdom on the surface.
      4. Fourth Cohort will act as the naval force of the Grand Legion, formerly being Fifth Cohort (see more below).
    3. Thirdly, the abolishment of the Fourth, Sixth and Seventh Cohorts as 'Cohorts.'
      1. Fourth Cohort's duties will instead be taken up by the Third Cohort, and the Fifth Cohort will be renamed as the Fourth Cohort.
      2. Members of Sixth and Seventh Cohorts will instead be categorized as 'Immunos' for their special skills and services to the Grand Legion, and will receive 1.5 times standard pay as regular Legionaries.
        1. This applies to rank as well; Stoneguard Immunos will receive 75 minas per year, Ironbreaker Immunos will receive 150 minas per year, etc.
        2. Members of First Cohort are discouraged from becoming Immunos as protection of the Grand King should be their top priority, but those who are allowed to do so by the Grand King will receive 1.5 times their own regular pay, amounting to 300 minas per year.

Is this Legend a Player Character? (y/n) If so, list their MCName: ryno2 (formerly)
    Legend Name: Valandil Coamenel
Legend Race/Birthplace/gender/brief history: Valandil Coamenel was a Dark Elf who dwelt in Aegis before the migration to Asulon.
RP belief about the legend (Why people view them positively/negatively. What people know in RP pre-events.): Valandil lived during a time when the Undead flooded the land with their scourge and capitals fell to their taint. Never feeling quite at home with his Elven brethren in Laurehlin, he instead preferred the company of the Orcs of Krugmar, klomping with them often and eventually being recognized as one of their better fighters, a feat unheard of in the present day. He was so strong, in fact, that when the legendary Rex Mogroka'Gorkil selected his three champions to enter the Nether and battle Iblees' forces in the Undead realm, Valandil was chosen alongside the likes of Thore'Gorkil to represent the Orcish nation. He is alleged to have helped organize the unruly champions from other nations to make it easier for the Ascended to bless their weapons and gift them with potions. He was among the first to charge into the nether portal beneath the White Tree of Malinor, but he did not return, having died valiantly in service to the descendants.
Brief OOC overview of Legend story (What actually lead to them becoming a legend. This may be the same as the RP belief, or it may be different.): Most of the story is true. While he was selected to be the Orcish champion, and he was abnormally strong for a Dark Elf, he was by no means one of the three strongest in the Orc nation; Mogroka simply didn't want to expend another Orc Bruddah and found the willing Valandil a suitable substitute. And his death was no more valiant - rather than dying while slaying some beast of mythic proportions, or even clearing the way for his comrades, he merely tripped and fell over a ledge while trying to jump a gap, his body crushed between the crimson netherrack and his own suit of armor.
How the Legend would be proliferated in RP (If this involves books/stories, you may wish to write them with the submission. Once the Legend is fully accepted you may RP knowledge of the legend, however you may only RP the RP BELIEF of the legend, not any OOC overview knowledge. Otherwise, the ET will do our best to introduce the Legend in-game.): Orcish legends told by the fire, maybe random Elven rumors about the Dark Elf who lived among savage Uruks in ages past.
What events would you like to occur around this legend? (ex, discovery of the Legend’s gravesite, retrieving of the Legend’s body, discovering something the Legend created/did): Finding where he died in the Nether (considering portals to the nether now exist in Vailor)
Relics Associated: The carbarum longsword that the Ascended blessed for him before he went into the nether, her edge dulled from the ages and her blessing having long since faded away.

...and as Yemekar the all-creator lay in his final resting place before eternal slumber, he bade his son Dungrimm, “Go to my favored children, the Dwed, and make unto their greatest warriors Legion, that none could withstand their might nor stay their righteous fury.”

The Grand Legion of Urguan exists as the military for the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. Having existed since Aegis, their purpose is to protect the sovereignty and FREEDOM of the Grand Kingdom and her allies against all manner of outer threats and insidious HERESY. Race is no matter to Legion, for any son of Yemekar - human, uruk, dwarf, or elf - who would fight and die for the sake of FREEDOM against foreign invaders and unholy HERETICS, is one the Legion would be proud to call one of their own.

    Organizational Structure

The Grand Legion is led by the Grand Marshall, currently Grumdul Frostbeard, and is comprised of different Legions, each of which is divided into 4 Cohorts. Each Cohort specializes in a different type of combat or provides a supportive role, and is led by a Legion Centurion. The Cohorts are organized as follows:

    First Cohort, aka Dungrimm’s Fist

    • Comprised of combat veterans, those Legionaries with the most experience in their Legion. Not bound to a specific combat type like the other Cohorts, Legionaries in the First Cohort typically perform special operations on the battlefield separate from the main force.

    • Uniform trim color: Red

      • As of the Reforms of 1555:

        • First Cohort acts as the personal bodyguard force for the Grand King of Urguan.

        • They are paid 200 minas per year and do not conform to the same rank system as the other Cohorts.

    Second Cohort

    • Comprised of heavy infantry, Legionaries in the Second Cohort are typically equipped with full plate mail and carry either long two-handed weapons or sword & shield. Most carry a heavy crossbow for when range is required.

    • Uniform trim color: Gold

      • As of the Reforms of 1555:

        • Second Cohort acts as the guard force for the Dwarven capital, Kal'Ishtul.

    Third Cohort

    • Comprised of archers, dedicated crossbowmen, and marksmen in general, Legionaries in the Third Cohort are typically equipped with ferrum-studded leather armor and either a heavy crossbow or modified longbow, along with a knife or other short one-handed weapon.

    • Uniform trim color: Green

      • As of the Reforms of 1555:

        • Third Cohort has absorbed the Fourth Cohort and patrols the surface holdings of the Grand Kingdom, on the lookout for suspicious persons.

    Fourth Cohort

    • Though some mock the idea of a naval Cohort, Legionaries in the Fourth Cohort nevertheless carry out their seafaring duties with the zeal and enthusiasm expected of any Cohort. Legionaries in the Fourth Cohort act as a specialized water-faring unit, using equipment specially designed to enhance their prowess below the surface, such as advanced diving helmets and enchanted mail. When not required for their naval prowess, they act as reserve troops for any Cohort that needs reinforcement.

    • Uniform trim color: Dark Blue

      • As of the Reforms of 1555:

        • The Fifth Cohort remains the same as before the Reforms, but in keeping with the dissolution of the Fourth Cohort, is now renamed the Fourth Cohort itself.

    Individual Ranking

    Grunt

    • Every new Legionary starts out as a Grunt in the Second Cohort.

    • Grunts typically perform manual labor and are tested rigorously through training to determine which field they excel most in.

    • A Grunt is not promoted to Stoneguard until displaying proficiency in one of the Cohorts’ specialties during training and defeating an enemy of the Grand Kingdom in combat.

    • They receive 0 pay.

    Stoneguard

    • The lowest rank in a Cohort aside from Grunt, Stoneguard are ubiquitous in the Legion and perform all manner of duties for their Cohort, not bound to any specific task.

    • They are paid 50 minas per year.

    Ironbreaker

    • Experienced Legionaries, Ironbreakers set an example for their younger Grunt and Stoneguard brethren to follow and act as the sharpened blade of their Legion in battle.

    • The strongest Ironbreakers in the Legion are occasionally promoted to First Cohort if their current Cohort has enough Dwed to fill their place.

    • They are paid 100 minas per year.

    Pridebearer

    • Normally the boldest and most courageous Legionary in his Cohort, the Pridebearer is tasked with carrying his Cohort’s banner into battle, acting as a rally point for his brothers.

    • Can be heard shouting inspiring phrases during battle in half Dwed, half Common, condemning HERESY and praising the virtues of FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY.

    • They are paid 150 minas per year.

    Centurion

    • The most experienced and tactically-minded Legionary in a Cohort, the Centurion is the commander of his Cohort and gives orders that his Legionaries are required to follow to the letter without question.

    • Only promoted to First Cohort if a suitable replacement exists within his current Cohort.

    • They are paid 200 minas per year.

    Immunos

    • Those Legionaries who are able to proide the Grand Legion with arms, armor, or equipment in general are given the title of Immuno, which increases their pay by a factor of 1.5 according to their rank.
      • A Stoneguard Immuno, for instance, is paid 75 minas per year instead of 50, an Ironbreaker Immuno 150 minas per year instead of 100, etc.

    Individual Dress

All Legionaries regardless of rank and Cohort are expected to wear their uniform while performing Legion duties, and gain even more honor from wearing it off-duty to provide Legion presence wherever they go.

Legion Cohorts wear the same base uniform, with different colored trimmings for each Cohort, and varying amounts of colored trim depending on individual rank. Pridebearers in particular have shimmering gems embedded in their armor to act ever-more as beacons for their brothers to rally behind.

  8. Sitting in his now spoiled fortress, Daeron Culnamo; co-successor to the Marshallship of the Horde of Dunamis alongside is close friend Danis Revlis following the disappearance and presumed death of the previous Marshall, Serjo Richard Revlis; begins the long process of recording his thoughts, emotions, and plans regarding the Orenian siege of Dunamis, for the sake of posterity for future generations, fancying himself something of a historian, if only for this instance. Surmising it would be best to relay his story holistically, from before the battle to what followed immediately thereafter, he begins his synopsis:

"Following our defeat at the Battle of Marnadal, I was exhausted, and wanted little more than to begin construction of our new home miles away and leave the place behind. But as I began packing my belongings for the journey, a group of new recruits - among them engineers, stone cutters, builders and architects - began laying plans for defenses, and set themselves to work with a fervor that I had not expected. Among them Molgrid Kegbrow seemed most enthusiastic about doing the dredge work of digging the massive trench and laying down wooden stakes, which I appreciated greatly, though I would be lying if I said I was not annoyed by his constant pestering about what seemed, at the time, trivial matters regarding construction. Nevertheless his will inspired some of the older, jaded veterans to get to work themselves, and in but a few weeks the outer defenses of the fort were nearly completed, intervention of the Sky Gods on Oren's behalf notwithstanding.

"Before the outer defenses had been completed, the inside of the keep was already being refurbished from a respectable home into what I can only describe as a nightmare. A disease, a sickness, given shape and form. Stone and gravel were piled against the walls such that the once wide hallways became so narrow that many of our Orcish friends were unable to enter, same as with our more...well-rounded Dwarven benefactors. Goblin tinkerers and Dwarven siege-masters collaborated to make the most diabolical traps I had ever laid eyes on, all within narrow straits so dark a normal man could not tell his left from his right, nor up from down. Besides this we brought giant spiders into the fort and left them to make a nest in the old sitting room; within a month, the halls were littered with great, sticky cobwebs every few feet, only adding to the setting's terrible ambiance. To be truthful it became so bad that our own men could not longer traverse her passages, so a swamp Orc by the name of Gut'Lak built a handy shortcut to the siege platforms from the inner courtyard. After finishing he set to work on assisting Grahl'Zhul, another Orc, in creating ankle-biters inside the keep's open spaces, to halt any Orenians attempting the inner gauntlet.

"After our new land was secured and construction began there, I moved the last of the Horde's supplies out of the old fort, excepting a few trunks of arrows and sets of iron-studded leather, in case troops came badly-equipped. This was to ensure that if Oren had won, they would have had the clothes on our backs but none of the treasures we had accumulated over about three decades of living there. The trunks holding these were placed inside the spacious central hub in the middle of the fort that linked to all the siege platforms, for the sake of easy moving between them.

"With the last parts of the gauntlet complete, and a massive field of cold mud between the fort and Oren, and a wide, deep trench between the mud and our fort, all that was left to do on the superficial level was construct trebuchet atop the towers, which were too small to allow wheels on the treb's, meaning they were stuck facing one direction. Reign Revlis, son of the late Serjo Richard Revlis and his loyal wife Celia Revlis, was tasked with this. While doing so my co-Marshall, Danis Revlis, and I began lining the empty space between the inner and outer wall with obsidian, after hearing reports that Oren had amassed a number of explosive devices filled with gunpowder. I received a great amount of obsidian in bulk to hinder their explosives with, as obsidian is known to have potent explosion-resistant properties. We lined the walls with a combination of it and cobblestone stakes to prevent laddering in the event that the keep's outer layer of stone was breached.

"With all defenses finished, a problem arose: troops on the siege platforms had no easy way of getting onto the open field if such was needed. So I set an Orc by the name of Nurzum'Ugluk to dig a flanking tunnel from the central hub deep below the surface southward, that troops might emerge from Blackwater Bay in a surprise assault. In hindsight, Blackwater Bay was an obvious place to flank from, but having the tunnel end in one of the abandoned houses there was less conspicuous than a hole in the ground anywhere else, so there it stayed. This was the last of our defenses laid, and all that remained was to wait for Oren to arrive and begin their assault.

"The following days and weeks went by quickly as I organized troop placement throughout the keep with the other leaders - the late Ubba'Ugluk and his nephew Drokon'Ugluk in charge of the Orcs; Rhewen Frostbeard and Jorik Grandaxe in charge of the Dwarves and their allies, including the Crimson Edict; and my own co-Marshall Danis and I in charge of Dunamis. We met at the great coffee table in the central hub and discussed the plan - keep archers and treb teams on the siege platforms to harry incoming troops, and leave the infantry in the central hub for quick deployment onto the field. Primarily Orcs and a few Dunamians would use the flanking tunnel and go northeast from Blackwater toward the Orenians' left flank to distract them, while Dwarves went through the main gate and swung around the keep's north side to hit their right flank, in a 'pincer' type maneuver. After agreeing on details the Dwarves and Orcs left to rally the rest of their troops to the fort.

"One morning I awoke and looked out over the outer defenses from the highest tower, when something caught my eye: below me, to the south, between our keep and Blackwater Bay lay the Orenian siege camp, with no fewer than twenty trebuchet and men to operate them! And further south I saw a beast of a weapon - a magic cannon molded of white quartz and purple crystals; it would have been a marvel to look upon were I not aware of its dire implication. I immediately roused the men in the keep to their stations and set Reign to frantically re-position our treb's: they weren't coming from half a mile east anymore, they were coming from a stone's throw south of us.

"My heart sank when I saw their camp so close, but over a few hours of looking I made some realizations: they had no siege tower or siege bridge, so they had no way of getting past the trench besides the main gate. And besides that the unwittingly built their camp right above our flanking tunnel, and so close to our tunnel's exit that the men inside their camp would have no time to react to an Orcish flank! I discreetly reminded many of my lower commanders of this, and they used the information to allay the boys' fears. With this, I gathered my equipment from my old bedroom, now emptied out and hollow.

"First was my armor. My primary garb was iron-studded leather, dyed black with gold-colored embroidering that made a consistent pattern throughout the ensemble, excepting the boots, which were instead coated in ancient dragon scales - a gift to me from the old Marshall. They fit very well to my feet, and made me feel all the swifter and more nimble. My primary weapon, as per usual, was my bow, crafted of thornbark with string treated in rope oil, enchanted to make my missiles swifter, the string more sturdy, and my quiver more bountiful. For melee I had a specially-made heavy spade with a carbarum head, given to me by loyal Dunamian Ioannis, and I personally enchanted it to make it sharper, tougher, and heavy enough to knock even a Dwarf off his feet. The steed I took was the swiftest in the stables, hardy, and not too shabby a leaper to boot. He was covered in carbarum lamellar, and I decided as well to bring a couple of iron-tipped lances, a matter of consequence while riding a horse. Although I was fairly sure I would not need them nor the horse, I figured having too much was better than too little.

"Soon after I and the rest of the troops were geared, the familiar sound of trebuchet firing filled the air, and there was naught to do but fire at infantry. Or at least, it would have been that way if not for the redstone-powered machinery being dismantled and sabatoged by Orenian plants. So, more of my time was spent fixing circuitry and moving men through broken doorways than firing at enemy forces, though there were fewer technical problems toward the end, giving me time to fire on advancing infantry.

"Eventually the infantry became restless, having been moved down to the courtyard, though on the main bridge they were surrounded on all sides across the trench by Orenian archers, meaning their talents were wasted. Eventually I gave the order: while Orenians were distracted at the front gate, Orcs and Dunamis would move through the flank tunnel and take Oren's siege camp; Dwarves would wait until Oren had their backs turned and were fully focused on Orcs before rushing out the main gate, leaving them surrounded. Ubba quickly called the Orcs up the shortcut to the hub where the tunnel began and the plan followed through, though some Orcs clogged the tunnel due to their size, meaning we came as a trickle rather than all at once like I had hoped. Nevertheless the plan worked - while Oreners were busy fighting Orcs near the destroyed magic cannon, Dwarves came in from behind and caught the humans unawares, killing most of them on the spot. After this, I, now atop my horse, roamed the plains, looking for stragglers.

"The Dwarves, if nothing else, are quite thorough in battle. I encountered hardly any stragglers near the fort, and the few I did were on foot, making them easy prey. Excepting one.

"In front of the main gate I saw a man atop a donkey assaulting a Kharajyr and Wood Elf. As I drew closer I recognized the two as soldiers who helped the defense, and when close enough I recognized their attacker:

The Archduke of Lorraine, Augustus d'Amaury.

"In that moment I did not think of the glory at hand - the fairy tale-like meeting of two commanders on the battlefield, engaging in one-on-one combat, each surrounded by their men, with victory afforded to the winner of the duel - no. In that moment I only thought to take him down before he killed soldiers under my care. So I couched my lance, rushed his donkey with my stallion, and knocked him unawares off his mount, leaving the pair he harassed to deal the killing blow. The only other stragglers of note were a pair of boys further north: I shot one from my atop horse and he went cold right there. The other saw this and hid behind a tree, using it as a barrier, trying to draw me within range of his longsword. I could hear Dwarves blowing horns for victory and I left the man unharmed to return home. Enough blood had been spillt already, and this man was no threat to me, so there was no point killing him.

"We began salvaging what was left of our keep and the Orenian siege camp, and Lilyana helped me gather the obsidian used in the defense, which I gave back to their donator as per our agreement. As for what to do with the rest of the fort, that remains to be seen. I hope that this account of the conflict will be widely recorded in the annals of history, if for nothing else than to remind our descendants of the horrors of war, and the futility of peace via warfare."

    Vecror-page-decor-and-text-deviders_08.png

Copies of the transcript would be sent to various historians and librarians throughout the realm, as well as the nation leaders who assisted in Dunamis' defense, including the new Rex Snoop'Azog and his friend Lilyana in Sutica.

  9. Daeron watches the procession from atop his steed, still clad in the gold-embroidered black leather garb that lent his hands dexterity and his eyes clarity during the hour of chaos. He muses on how the Orcs for all their bravado, would have died if not for the Dwarven tide that caught Orenians in a vice grip, surrounded by enemies, as Daeron himself had ordered. He says nothing of this, however, and remains respectfully silent as the funeral march proceeds, humming prayers for the fallen Orcs and the kin they left behind.
