  1. Back from a long break away from LotC. My computer was all sorts of horrible and died on me, but now I'm back!

  2. This...this is just ridiculous. It's funny how when things like this pop up you can see just how polarized a community can be. There's always going to be two sides, though they may not exactly be even in size, and both sides always believe beyond a doubt that they are right. There is never facts because each side is based off of one person's side. It's difficult to get to the heart of it because two differing viewpoints create two differing stories with wholly different opinions on who is in the wrong. After sides are chosen, people take their stances. Viewpoints hardly change and most are inflexible. Bickering ensues and chaos erupts. That's what this is and that's what it's going to be if people don't take the time to think for themselves or look past their iron-clad beliefs. In the end this story is "he said, she said" and you need to accept that there is nothing more you need to know or make known. Each comment, flame and opinion grates against the beliefs of the other side. Even compliments, to the wrong person, are a mistake in this situation. Cut through your opinions, vaq's words and avail's words. Realize that the situation was this: LotC was made by availer. From what people say, including vaq, availer was a cool guy. Understood. Availer was big part of the server in the early days and, for whatever reason, he eventually slowed in his support for LotC. This created problems with payments and his inactivity led to players leaving as well. This led to DEMOTION, not banning. The ban came from a whole different situation, a situation in which a hurt man railed against what he viewed as an injustice and what vaq and the GM team viewed as necessary. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. Doesn't matter. Availer insulted and flamed the GM's enough to lead to his ban. Had he NOT been immature about the situation, perhaps a deal might have been worked out and in time his continued work with the server could have led to re-promotion. It didn't though and there isn't a way to tell so it doesn't really make sense to talk about it. THAT is what led to his ban. Even this current attempt is nothing more than another immature stab at Vaq. Situations like this lead to mistrust and dissent, not to acceptance and camaraderie. Especially if you consider the fact that this is almost a year later. Should he have wanted to continue on LotC in truth, all he had to do was message the GM team in private and speak with them like a rational civilized adult.
  3. I'm a bit surprised so much argument came from the Kingship benefit. As a Diamond donater, I have a title as Lord, but that doesn't really mean much in the end. I didn't make my character a Lord just because I donated, that's just silly. And I'm sure that no one would accept someone randomly claiming to be King after a large donation either. To be honest, I'm sure that no one would try anyways. What kind of troll like that would be willing to shell out $500 anyways? I'll tell you: none.
  4. I'm seeing a lot of things about the benefits and I have to wonder if you all read the whole post. Vaq stated very clearly that this was just a taste of donor perks for the Onyx Level. I mean, the last perk is listed as "etc.,etc., etc." I'm sure they're still looking at possible perks for the Onyx level. This isn't the final set. I'm sure once they release the Onyx Level for the public to donate up to fully, we'll know ALL of the donor perks for it. Til then, don't worry about what the exact perks are and don't complain on how it's too little for the amount donated. You don't even know the full perks yet...
  5. I'd agree that there needs to be some reasoning for the particles too. People don't sparkle for no reason.
  6. It's not stats but your character card. There is a difference.
  7. Oh thank god. I have my soul set to two locations like 5 blocks apart on accident.
  8. *entering the city proper, you notice a new paper on the message board. The paper itself isn't new, in fact, it's anything but. It had quite obviously seen better days. Written quite hastily upon the paper in a sort of wild scribble, you barely make out the message. It reads as follows...* Looking for work and looking to sell goods. My goods include Iron Ore, Wooden Planks, Cobblestone, Stone Brick, Apples and other miscellaneous items. For any interested in employing me for work, I am skilled in excavation, swordwork and mining. I have some skill in lumberjacking, if need be, but it is not my strongest suit. Contact me in Hanseti or by bird. -Kayde "North" ((contact me as simplyskyler ig))
  9. *A bird lands near you with a piece of paper rolled carefully and placed within its leather holster. The words upon the page are small and written hastily with an uneven spacing. It's a bit difficult to understand, but you get the gist of it.* Student Application Name: Kayde "North" Residence: I currently wander, mostly among the Wilds but I am willing to settle in Hanseti. An attempt, to be honest, I have already made once. An unfortunate issue with a lost passport and a shortcoming on minas left me unable to enter again. Age: I am of two and twenty years of age. Are you a citizen of Hanseti? (Yes / No )* No. *Passport required at registration. What type of magical sensitivities do you have: Truth be told, I have no knowledge of either a gift for or against magical sensitivity. Describe your magical background. My background with magic is weak, at best. I grew up in small farming village in the kingdom of Salvus. There was, to be true, very little of interest for me in my home. I felt a stranger among my own family. A traveling man came then and he paid for his room and his empty belly with song and tales. He told me of the magic in the world, and he showed me a few tricks of his own. Nothing fancy, minor telepathy at best and perhaps a good slight of hand at worst. His words and show, however, left me thoughtful and in wonder. In time, my discomfort and my own curiosity led to an escape of sorts within the realm of learning. I spent hours reading, poring over all sorts of tomes. In time, I grew to yearn for knowledge in all its forms. What little I know of magic is hearsay from these books, words from a traveler's lips and my own futile struggle to learn more among the destroyed and unintelligible ruins of the world. I had hoped that, in time, I could learn and use magic myself...but six years have passed since I left my home and I must now begin to accept that perhaps a more traditional path to learning may be required. How many years have you been able to control/conjure this power? As far as I am aware, I have no powers to control though I do thoroughly hope to learn of some in time. What subjects do you wish to learn? I wish to learn all that I could be taught. Healing, shamanism, telepathy, conjuration...I have no care for mine own ability to use these magics, though should it come to happen...it would not be unwelcome. I care only for the learning and the power that comes with knowledge of the world. Perhaps, in time, I may teach it to one more adept than I myself may be. Have you ever been exposed to dark magic? If so, elaborate: If I have, I must admit that I am unaware of its existence. I have yet to meet a man of magic myself, other than the traveler, and I am quite sure that he was no man of darkness. Perhaps in the ruins and caves I often explore I may have been near something of dark magic, but to mine own knowledge I have not been exposed to any of it.
  10. Kayde remembered his first sighting of Hanseti. The great stone statues outside the city astounded him and the gate was the largest he had yet seen. The cold of the place, perhaps, was best left forgotten. Unfortunately, goods were hardly goods if they did not earn him enough minas to keep the clothes on his back and the food in his belly. So, yet again, he found himself outside that huge gate. With a sigh, he turned to the passport office. "We meet again..." he muttered lowly, before entering. And...no guards. Again. "...just my luck." With a sigh, he sat down awaiting some form of rescue from the horror that is paperwork and waiting.
  11. It's done. Freya said to PM her with it by midnight on the 19th.
  12. It's not like it's 1000 minas to restock the shop block, only to start it up. Take your losses and wait for it to make profit. Eventually you'll get your money back as long as you keep the shop running...which, to me, is just an incentive to keep your store stocked and operating. 100 minas would let anybody who votes for the server to make a shop a day. Tell me how that's NOT a bad idea.
  13. I'll tell you what's wrong with RP-only shopping: someone actually has to be there. There are 3 stores in Salvus and of the three, I've only found one that is ever open. And that's less than half the time I've been there. I'm not a regular among the big cities, but every time I've visited a capital I can NEVER find a shop that I can actually buy from. My first two days on this server consisted of me walking from town to town trying to find a place that sold bows and arrows. It was VERY annoying.
  14. Sounds like my kinda thing. I'm warning you now though, 300 words is a pittance. You'll get much more than that from me. ;)
  15. Trying to get my plot protected, but lord if it isn't annoying...
