  3. "Many than's m'fellow Dwarves, Oi'll be rememberin ye when Oi speak, y'ave been truly 'elpfull"
  4. I've been on the server for about a year as a dwarf, but have run into several different forms of speach from fellow dwarves: Sometimes i'ts like "Ello, gud marn' t'ye all" ...And othertimes it's like "Well 'ten, oill be needin s'm food'" .......And still othertimes its like "Bez' nerd'en Gaut'v, Barzn'al Coov'rdelf!" I am really confuzed; Is the accent of a dwarf supposed to vary by race? Or do we all just sound the same? Because i'm just seeing no consistancy either way. If someone could straighten this out, I'd be very greatfull! -R.F.G

(note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Mother was a human, from the north. Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): The tale of a dwarf In the land of Aegis, Deep in the mountains of Kal’ Urguan, under the warmth of flame, a dwarf-ling was born. But twas not a time of joy; for the undead took the lives of the babe’s parents not but seconds later. The young dwarf was alone in the world, and he would have died in the darkness, lying there. If it weren’t for Loric_gates The young dwarven warrior picked up the babe, without a second thought. He was focused on something else, but he wasn’t heartless. When Loric reached the nearest dwarven settlement, he placed the baby in the hands of the local blacksmith. From there Relik Inberka’ll, as he was named that night, grew into a master blacksmith, of some 60 years old. He was known to have been a man of few words, if not none. He was tall, for a dwarf, with thick salt and pepper hair and beard. He carried an axe and wore the armor of old, battered and rusty. When you got him talking, which seldom happened, he talked well. His appearance spoke for itself; many a customer had steered away from trying to swindle him out of a high price. Even with his tough demeanor, he has a gentle heart. Other than that he is a dark and silent man. And yet he understands what most could not, and his craftsmanship is known throughout the land. He seemed happy enough: But when the day came that he found his true parentage, He fled. And he remains on the run. He traveled from the mountains of his birth to the north, where his mother was born, wielding his axe against all who apposed him, until he found his mother’s home. The people there feared the dark dwarf warrior. He left the same day. And even when he left, content with his findings, the people still murmured his name… He traveled back to the mountains in search of Loric_Gates, but on the way, he met a stranger. The man, as was his species, said his name was Ulmo, and that he was only passing by. Relik, not wanting to fight, simply kept on walking. When he arrived in Kal’Urguan, he expected to find it abundant with life, welcoming him back in to his home. But the land was abandoned. He searched for days, but couldn’t for days, but couldn’t find a soul. He found his old shop, and looked it up and down, re-opening memories. Then he found the note: Twas entitled “Relik” He read: “My dear Relik, If you’ve found this, I, along with the dwarves of Kal’ Urguan have fled these mountains. The undead have returned, and we sought to start a new life in a land across the sea, a land called Asulon. There we will travel to our brother kingdom, Kal’Dwain. Find me if you can, my friend.” “Loric_gates”. And so he rode a ship across the vast body of water. The trip lasted many months, and Relik grew sick at the slightest of movements. But even in his physical illness, he thought of Loric, and the adventures he would have in the new land. 2 years later-------------------------------------------------------- “And I’ll need that done by next Tuesday, all right smithy?” Relik looked up at the young dwarf, a frown on his brow. “Ill have it done by then young sir, but a sword of such type will take extra concentration”. The boy nodded in recognition, and reached into his purse. “How does ten minas sound?” 2 years earlier, Relik had reached Kal’Dwain and started a new blacksmith shop. He had originally searched for Loric, but to no prevail. So he went back to his shop, and made a living. He still sits there. Waiting for his destiny to come into being. What is your Character's ambitions?: He longs to find a true purpose In his life, as well as to fight alongside Loric_gates. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): While like all dwarves he wields an axe, he has come to use all weapons he has forged under flame and hammer. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents? Some examples: Staying still for long periods of time, Blacksmithing, bargaining without saying much. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format): Other Information about your Character: He is cheerful, even though he doesn’t talk that much. But he can be a hard and brutal killer. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? I would stand in front of the Halfling and demand what he has done to disserve such harassment: “Stand out of our way, dwarf, this Halfling has wronged us” “Wronged ye how?” the two warriors look at me.”You are a rather annoying dwarf, why do you pester us be gone—“ Standing taller I respond: “I be demanding reason for yer actions” the soldiers are really annoyed now. “Leave now or be cut down where you stand” I hear the bigger warrior behind me. “Oh don’t go you lil basterd, don’t you want to play?” I know now that I have no other choice but for the death of the warriors. I swing my axe into his jaw before he can move, the other pulls his sword and arcs it at me. I roll as best I can and quickly stab him. Standing up I would turn to the Halfling. “They are dead now, and ye will be too if y’not run now, go little one, go!” Then I would return the halfling’s money, and flee from the sight. When I have reached a safe distance, I stop at an inn for the night. During that night, something happens that I didn’t foretell. When I wake up I here a scream from down stairs. I come down and see the Halfling from the day before. He is pierced by 5 arrows, one with a note attached to it. I pulled the note up and read it, frowning as I finish it: “Let this be a lesson to all who side with dwarves”. I hear a moan, and turn to see the Halfling is still alive. He is gripping the air, and gasping for breaths, but through his agony I hears: ”Please…………… My wife………… My children” When his head hits the ground, and his last breath leaves his body, I realize the terrible wrong I’ve caused. 4 months later---------------------------- His name was Jeremy. The only wrong he had committed was going down the wrong road. He was a kind and gentle Halfling. He loved his family. His red haired wife had told me through her tears and the sobs of her children, a small boy and a fair-haired girl. It only took a few months for me to find them. Apparently Jeremy was known well at the trade routes from his home to his resting place. When I arrived at the small abode, his wife had been surprised to see such a blood-strewn dwarf, and was even more surprised to hear of her husband’s demise at the hand of warriors. I told her of how I had killed the two men, and of how it was truly my fault that Jeremy had died. But it didn’t help. I left feeling empty, thinking of how a man’s life, and the man’s family had been torn apart on my own account. I can still see his face. But I will try to forget it. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well-dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? I would tell him that I need nothing and will go on my way, telling him as I turn that his merchandise is too expensive, and mumbling of another stall not too far away, “The stall next to yours is way less expensive” knowing he will call me back, and the bargaining will begin. “Please sir, have um… you looked at these?” I look at the supply case he points to. It has more than anything I need, and the price is low, but I look to the back of his stall. “ Howa'bout that one?” he looks to where I point, and turns with shock on his brow,” oh—that’s, um, only for decoration—“ I cut him off, “looks pretty good to me”. He sighs and gives me the pack.” You dwarves will run me out'a business you know”…………… I smile and leave the man, thinking of how probably right he is. Later, I open the pack, and discover that he has cheated me! I travel back to his stall, only to find that he has fled. 4 years later--------------------------------------------------- The merchant sits in a pub, drinking a brew from a tankard. He is celebrating. 4 long years he’s gained money from swindling customers. Now he can pleasantly retire. He takes a particularly long swig, and when he lowers his tankard, he nearly spits it right back out. For there, sitting across the room, is the dark dwarf he swindled 4 years earlier. The dwarf who looked like he ate children. And he is staring right at him. He puts his tankard down, quickly paying for his tab and leaving the pub. He saddles his horse and cart and rides away as fast as he can. Once he’s reached the outskirts of the town, he exhales, and then the iron tight arms clench down over his face, and he knows he’s either dead, or totally screwed. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: I would first check and see if there is anyone coming. If there is not I will take it along with the golden sword, and replace it with dirt. “No point in carrying my leavings”. IF there is someone close by, I will take the sword and half the iron bars, and run as quickly as I can out of the area. Once I’ve maintained a safe distance, I’ll set up camp for the night. When I awake, I head back to the hut, and discover that staying there would’ve been a bad idea; it’s burnt to the ground and the chest, along with my leavings, is gone. I narrowly missed death. Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you in the common tongue, how do you respond? I act as kind as I can, with out saying many words,” Would ye happen to ‘ave any food or water flasks”? The man answers,” no, but there is an inn not far from here, head over there and you’ll receive board and bed.” I will then thank him and head where he has directed me. When I arrive at the inn I speak to the innkeeper: “A group of traders back 'dere in the forest told me I would receive board and bed. Would that happen to be true?” The innkeeper down at me “Aye, Thad ‘be true”. He frowned. “But if he keeps on lending people a place to stay, I’ll have to cut off my trade with em”. 20 minutes later-------------------------------------- I smile as I lay in my bed that night, my stomach full of hot onion soup and mutton, and I think of how lucky I am. Later------------------------------------------------- I stare at the sword tip that is a few inches away from my face and think of how unlucky I am. Seconds before I had awoken to find my self surrounded by three brutes: one with a sword and a rough cowl, the other two carried spears and wore heavy leather tunics. I looked now to the cowl’d leader’s face. He sneered and spoke: “Now what would a well supplied dwarf be doing out here in the wilds?” I hate myself for being so exposed and vulnerable. Then I realized I still had my armor on, and also that there was a bowl of leavings under my bed… “Well aren’t you going to answer me?” I smiled and flung the small toiletry bowl at his cowl. It sent him screeching backwards into his bodyguards and gave me just enough time to leap out the window. You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Join the onslaught and attack with force, for I am always ready for battle. In the beginning, I volunteer through the town guards, and head towards the leader. “Hello sir, I am Relik Ibanka’ll, Blacksmith dwarf of the mountains, and I wish to serve under you in battle”. “Why do you wish to serve my defense?” he asked, a little perplexed. I looked up at him from my crouched position and smiled, “Because I’m just that type of strange basterd, sir”. The town leader stood and nodded, “I will be glad to have you at my side.” Later, when the poorly supplied soldiers stood, shaking with tremendous fear and anticipation, staring at the on coming throng of bandits, Relik shouted words of comfort. The battle that followed was bloody. Relik had charged up, knocking a rider off his mount with one fell swoop and turning to fight more. While the scrimmage lasted only a few minutes, the death toll was far greater. Even so, the villagers were victorious, and Relik stayed to burn the enemy corpses and bury the lost souls. Later, after the small feast had been held, Relik stood at the feet of the leader. The leader spoke “My kind dwarf, tell me truly why you helped us?” there was a long pause as he processed the question. Then he answered, “I supposed that perhaps I would find my friend in this village, but upon hearing of the bandits, I knew I had to help.” The king smiled, “Well dwarf, I don’t believe you, but that doesn’t matter, I will still reward you.” The man had is bodyguard run ad fetch his war axe, two handed, and ebony shining. He gave it to the dwarf, and sent him in his way.

When I arrive at the inn I speak to the innkeeper: “A group of traders back dere in the forest told me I would receive board and bed. Then he answered, “I supposed that perhaps I would find my friend in this village, but upon hearing of the bandits, I knew I had to help.” The king smiled, “Well dwarf, I don’t believe you, but that doesn’t matter, I will still reward you.” The man had is bodyguard run and fetch his war axe, two handed, and ebony shining. He gave it to the dwarf, and sent him in his way.

And yet he understood what most could not, and his craftsmanship was known throughout the land. He seemed happy enough ; But when the day came that he found his true parentage, He fled.
