[✔] [Accepted] Character App: Aranor Nightoak
DfiantAngel posted a topic in Implemented Applications
Hey so i was in the process of making this application and the links I was using was giving me a 404 error. I posted this here assuming this is where it needs to go. I apologize if that's not the case. Anyway, here is my application. Hope you like it. =) Out-Of-Character Information The simplest section of the application! Simply answer these questions so we can get to know you a bit better. What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: - DfiantAngel How old are you?: - 23 What time-zone do you live in?: - Central Have you ever roleplayed before - if you have, how?: - Yes, I have played on this server once before and I have done a global LARP of various White Wolf campaigns. Have you been on any other roleplaying servers?: - Just this one Have you applied to this server before?(Please link past applications): - http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/57831-tyrian-darkwood/#entry450906 How did you hear about us?: - From previous play. What do you think the server will be like? – I am curious how it has evolved, and I am excited to get another opportunity to try it out. Have you read and agreed to the rules?: - Yes What’s your favourite rule / the rule you agree with the most?: - I am extremely opposed to meta-gaming. Character knowledge should be just that, anything else really does a disservice to the story at hand. Definitions This is simply so that we can get an understanding of how much you know about roleplaying. Feel free to Google the answers, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not another website / person's! What is roleplaying?: - Roleplaying is taking a created backstory on a fabricated character, and essentially living it out in the present as the character would; interacting with the world and others around you based on character experiences and character goals. What’s metagaming?: - Metagaming is essentially stepping outside of character knowledge, skill, and history and using player knowledge, skill, and strategy. Doing or knowing things that the character is simply incapable to do is Metagaming. Hearing of a location or event ooc and then proceeding to explore it is acting as if the character is just wandering aimlessly or addressing someone by name without ever hearing it are examples of breaches into the meta. What’s powergaming?: - Powergaming… or Min-maxing is players with the intent of just becoming strong outside of RP purposes. Players that decide to be the biggest and baddest guy on campus without roleplay worthy experiences are examples of players that power game. Players that max out their sword strength without training or rp combat experience are not excluded by avid power gamers. When I play, I want to have my stats justify and reinforce the experiences my character came from. In-Character Information Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play. What’s your character called?: - Aranor Nightoak What race are they (and sub-race)?: - Wood Elf What sex are they?: - Male How old are they?: - 27 Give us a brief description of their life - their story, childhood, family (Include server lore when writing): - Aranor was born into the world in the town of Ager. With only his mother to care for him since birth, she claimed work where she could, using her varied talents as a contracted farmhand. When work was scarce, she would turn to more seedy dealings such as prostitution and thievery so that little Aranor was fed and clothed. Such a life caught up with the poor woman, and the tragic life she led placed her in danger. Desperate for currency, she ventured deep into the Holy Oren Empire in an attempt to steal from a noble family, only to be caught by the guard. Fear had overwhelmed her at the moment of her capture, and she fought back, brandishing a rusted dagger against the guardsmen. The idea of spending her days in a cell while her child starved forced her into action, but she was not skilled enough to overwhelm trained swordsmen. She was dealt with a deep fatal wound, and Aranor was seemingly abandoned. He too turned to a life of petty crime, stealing crops and merchant goods to quench his hunger. His lack of skill led to his ultimate capture, where he was flogged and detained for his actions. A passing guard looked upon him curiously, seeing a keen resemblance to female wood elf his blade struck down. As if compelled by supernatural means, the man begged the convicted street rat for forgiveness, detailing the events that transpired the night of her death. The story opened Aranor’s eyes to the world. Of all the emotions he felt, pity was the most evident. He looked at the guard with disgust but realized that the image of his lifeless mother was still vivid in the memory of the man before him. He felt pity for him, and his mother, who failed to do what she could for her child. Aranor’s pity fell internally, learning that he ended up following in his mother’s footsteps, steps he believed to be taken out of rejection as opposed to desperation. The young elf was thusly reformed, and lived a different life upon leaving Oren’s cells. What are they like (personality)?: - Aranor, is a curious, young, and unknowing wood elf. He has little experience outside Ager and the Oren empire. Interest and apprehension would be his typical reactions to the world around him. What are their ambitions?: - Aranor desires a life outside of the slums. His goal of leading a life both different and fulfilling motivates him to explore and learn where he could make his mark. Do they have any special skills?: - Aranor is a master of observation. Like a sponge, he will absorb the new and strange around him interoperating its desire or splendor. Anything and anyone alien will catch his eye, and he will study it at a distance quite thoroughly. What are their weaknesses?: - Aranor is not yet a scholar, a fighter, or a silver tongued devil. His early days will be quite hard on him. Give us a description of how they look (not a screenshot yet!)?: - Olive skin, green eyes, crimson hair, dark thin clothing and scarf. Anything else you want to say about them?: - His notoriety as a petty thief and his time in jail would make him recognizable to veteran guards of Oran, a thing I would have to inform them if they confront me. Please give us a screenshot of your character’s skin: - Fantastic, there you go. No need to write any more - simply post this on our forums (and on MinecraftForum like it says above) and wait! -

*Gets a little flustered before turning and reading what was inscribed. Ah, Cael! I am sorry, was just expecting to have my request ignored, I had not bothered to look over your shoulder as you wrote. Forgive me, my name is Tyrian. I have taken much interest in the fields of magic, anatomic racial studies, and botany. I have yet to be an expert in these fields though, which is why I am glad to have your company. I look forward to your lecture if you end up choosing to give one."
-
*Smiles at the mans response. He stands up from where he sat and reaches out to shake his hand. "Thank you for this. I believe that this will be quite a learning experience. Let me know what I can do for you. And by the way, what is your field of expertise, mr..?
-
*Tyrian responds to Cael's proud statement in kind.* "I did not mean to sound as if I believe the wise and knowledgeable are incapable of possessing physical prowess. This is a mere offering of what I can do for you. Besides my sword, my own wisdom and company is what I have to offer. If it is coin you desire, I may be able to pay, though I would price such an opportunity at quite a high stake. Sir, if you could do me this kindness, I would be indepted to you for assisting me in becoming a fellow man of intellect." *Tyrian continues to carry a look of earnest and sincerity as he look to Cael for a response.
-
Tyrian* sees the note and makes a quick reply. "I will be at cloud temple with your books in a few days journey" ((about 2.5 hours)) *Tyrian smiles after leaving his letter. Perhaps I may yet make some allies today. ((sorry its so rushed =] via phone))
-
*Tyrian attempts to start a conversation to those who begin to write their letters infront of the sign. He gazes at the stranger earnestly* "Perhaps you would be willing to have an amateur scholar accompany you to the event? I do have quite the sword arm and could defend you if necessary. Its... just that I am not yet a scholar by title. Please, I would very much enjoy attending and seeing the prowess of the current minds of this generation." *He pleads to the individuals with such tenacity. His crimson eyes sparkle with pure desire and intrigue*
-
Well I... uh... I must say I have never been to one, but it sounds like it is a sort of event involving lectures and exchanges in scientific findings. Tyrian starts to look a little flustered, unsure as to how to give the word its true justice.
-
*Tyrian lets go of his bread chuckling at the familiar face. He looks her over a little, quite surprised at how quick she had grown.* "Ah, well... It just talks about a gathering of scientists and scholars. They plan to have a convention of sorts. I'm actually looking to see if I could speak to one who may be interested in attending. Why are you here, anyway?" *He pulls out another loaf from his bag, attempting to sate his hunger." {{Feel free to join in if you want, really hoping to speak with a scientist or scholar. =X}}
-
ooc: Tyrian is a Dark Elf with Crimson eyes and pale white hair. His complexion is a little more pigmented than most of his race, as a cause of the sun's constant influence and his mother being a Wood Elf. His clothing is quite new, satuated in a deep dark violet. His torso and his shoulders are clad in a dark metal, etched into the robe, lined out with gold. On his belt lays a well cut diamond, that matches the one on his circlet, which is mostly draped over with an open hood. His entire ensemble appears to be made by a blacksmith nearing the peak of his craft and in ample supply of inks. *Tyrian takes a gander at the flyer, gazing over its contents curiously. He smiles and attempts to wait for one who may show interest in the event in question. Taking a seat by the sign, he rests calmly, pulling a loaf of bread out of his sachel before chowing it down.* "Perhaps this is the moment I have been waiting for... We'll see what happens." *Tyrian speaks softly to himself and takes a large bite out of his bread. He chews on it slowly as he looks about for any who may approach the sign* ooc: =3 Hope someone would be interested. XD didn't want to force an RP.

Hey! I wanna get some advice. I put about an hour into the Library and kinda started taking it to the Nth degree. XD I am basically taking the Pantheon and sculpting it to the architecture I have seen around Holm for the library design. All I really have done is the front and the perimeter, but I figured the entrance would make it or break it. So, I wanted opinions, pointers and to know whether or not I should revamp the idea all together. My issue is there is only so much one can do to a flat wall, and I am trying to work with the elements I already had in play. The dark wood roofing is a good color change with the brick, but it looks too solid. I'm thinking of slapping a holm flag there or something. As for the interior, that little building is supposed to act as a medieval kiosk that sells books. It has access on both sides, so people could purchase books whether they are just entering or if they are already inside. The carpet Is going to visually divide the library only meeting at the line of division. I figured it would be a nice way to incorporate some of Holm's colors. I plan to have two floors worth of shelving, all following the outer walls. In the middle will be a little indoor garden with a massive tree that scales most of the building's height. In terms of block measurements, the circle I used has a radius of 20, so 40 length and width for that. so so far I am pretty much working within 55x40. The size was another thing i was worried about but I wanted to give Holm a really nice landmark of sorts. Anyways! I look forward to hear what you all have to say. Click here for the images

Void that. XD ill work some ideas on the library and stuff to add for the Redstone college.
-
If you guys need ooc designs I can work on some stuff for it. Is there anything you guys need designed that you don't have an idea for?

Tyrian emerges from a hole in the ground soon after the earthquake subsided. His clothes and hair were filthy, drenched in dirt and fine rubble. After climbing out of the crumbling tomb, he looks up to the sky, breathing in the fresh air. His gaze then fell to the houses around him, studying the damage done from the earlier tremors. With a contented sigh, a smile turns to his face. "It is good to know that the destruction of Holm was averted. I can take solice in that." Quite fatigued he turns to the bath house, walking quite slowly to its refreshing waters.

((OOC Information - Minecraft Name: DfiantAngel Age: 22 Timezone: Central Villain Application (Optional): Skills: 99 Swords 99 Blacksmith 53 Farm RP Information -)) Full Name: Tyrian Darkwood Age: 141 Race: Dark Elf Gender: Male Profession: Accomplished Blacksmith and hunter A brief description about yourself: For most of my years, I had lived deep in the wild forests of Malinor with only my mother. The whole world since has been a new experience. I had only known how to hunt, gather, and make shelter. However, since I had stepped out of the trees and lived among the people, I quickly learned many things. There is so many grand and wondrous things I had come to treasure. Literature, architecture, art, civilization... these things struck a cord deep within my being. Then I saw the evils that plague this world and its people. People are driven to war with one another, and schemers plot in the shadows. Former allies take up arms, and cities are burned to the ground. This was when I decided I had to protect the places I loved from such evils. I did so in Normandor, capital of the Princedom of Malinor, but corruption had spread to those in power. After seeing High Commander Darion slay an unarmed man in the streets, I went to arrest him, only to be stopped by the High Princess. I left to collect my thoughts in hopes to find the courage and the loyalty within myself to continue as the city's guard. Alas, upon my return, I came back to see Darion, as well as his close followers, ruling the people as Princes. More atrocities occurred under their reign, and my rise among ranks was stunted. The land that won my heart was no longer the land I swore to protect. It was then I ventured to Holm with my very close friend. Igne spoke so kindly of your city, and everyone here as treated me so kindly. It is because of this that I want to protect the kind people of Holm, and I am willing to pledge my life to that duty.

Out-Of-Character Minecraft Account Name: DfiantAngel How old are you?: 22 Time-Zone/Country of Residence: Central/USA Do you have a good grip on the English language/good grammar?: I have a fantastic understanding of the english language. :3 Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I participate on a global LARP (owod & nwod) so I have had a lot of experience roleplaying. This will be the first time doing it on Minecraft, so I'm pretty excited. How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I could be on the server almost daily. What do you know about Roleplaying? Give a definition of what it means to you: Roleplaying is character interaction. Icly, your actions, statements, and goals are all dependent on your character and what he is exposed too. Simply, its like you live and act as someone else who is involved in a whole other world separate from your own. What experience have you had in Roleplaying, if any?: Old & New World of Darkness: Vampire, Lost, And Requiem. I have also played cthulhu once with this group called Mythos. There was also a little bit of it on FFXIV In your own Words, define what the act of Meta-Gaming is: When one plays a character using "out of character" knowledge, one is meta gaming. If one adjusts a characters behavior towards another person's character because of real life relationships, one is meta gaming. If you address a character by name that you only heard of OOC you are meta gaming. If you venture to a town or base or some location because you learned about it ooc its meta gaming. XD Simply, meta-gaming involves someone blurring the line between what is OOC and IC. In your own Words, define what the act of Power-Gaming is: Power Gaming involves players who show very little interest in the lore and interaction with other players. The sole goal is to quickly become powerful by "min-maxing" and by actively seeking out powerful loot. Character ties, personal motivations, back story... these things don't matter as much when a player decides to Power-game. The term in a literary format addresses actions where a player does something that the other player is given no opportunity for a reaction. Statements like "insta-killing" "shattering one's equipment" "making someone permanently blind" prevent the other person from doing anything except for identifying the unfairness of such an action. This one is definitely a buzz-kill. What do you expect this server will be like?: I expect it to be exciting, and really engaging. =) Honestly, I'm very much looking forward to it. What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: EmpireCraft was my first multiplayer server. The problem I had with it was that there just was nothing keeping me in it. Once I did what I wanted, and created something I was proud of, that's all I was able to do. Recently my friend had me join a faction pvp server, but that diminished the creative aspect of the game and increased all the griefing and flaming going on. Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: I have read and agree to the rules provided. Do you promise to abide by said rules, and laws? This includes the Server, Forum, and Teamspeak set Rules: I will make no attempt to act outside the rules or laws provided. How did you hear about us?: I found this server under a list of minecraft servers. XD I kind of had to go through a couple pages before I found the one that I wanted to join. Have you previously made an Application? If so could you link us to your last Application?: In-Character: Character Name: Tyrian DarkWood What Race are you?: Elf What Sub-Race are you? (note, you aren’t required to have a sub-race): Dark Elf Biography (Please make this at least 2 paragraphs long. This must include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.): Tyrian was brought into this world after an unusual encounter. Helen, Tyrian's mother was a Wood Elf, living in solitude in a vast forest, far outside of Malinor. Her life was spent communing with the world around her. The flora and fauna served as Helen's companions and sustenance, and all things fell in harmony around her, until one night. Moving through the trees and grass, she came upon an injured man. A Dark Elf, lying in a pool of his own plasma. His body was riddled with violet flesh and crimson gashes. It was clear that the Forest was not kind to him, but she chose to be more merciful. She nurtured his wounds, and sheltered him. When he came too, the man thanked Helen. As his wounds closed and his strength returned, he grew to love Helen, and even remained by her side long after his injuries were gone. It was suddenly that the man disappeared, leaving Helen alone in the vast woods. Her solitude could not keep her content after the company she once had. She took no joy in the atmosphere, the fruit and air lost its appeal. As if God wished to wash away her sorrow, she found herself with child. The baby held a darker complexion than Helen, and his eyes shined of rubies. She raised the boy as she was, and taught him the ways of the forest. He grew strong and able and respected his the soil and creatures which fed and clothed him. However, Tyrian's red gaze kept the image of his father alive in his mother's memory, and she left her child as the man left her. For some time, Tyrian was left in the forest, alone as his mother once was, wondering why his mother and father chose to abandon all it had to offer. The question burrowed deep into his heart, and Tyrian chose to follow in their footsteps. He began studying old books and tomes his mother kept hidden, and learned the common tongue. He read the story of the first of his kind, Malin, and discovered the misfortune that was put upon him. Tyrian learned of strange trades and magic that he knew not existed. Where he once had one question, Tyrian now had many. Now a fully capable young man, he desired to learn more of the world he knew so little about. It is today that he plans to step out of the trees and into the city of his Forefathers. What are your Character's ambitions?: He desires to learn about the world that tempted his only family from him. He wants to learn its curves and wonders and see everything has to offer. What is your character’s favorite tool? (sword, pickaxe, shovel, etc): Tyrian's father's impatience was somewhat handed down to him. No matter how much his mother instructed him in the ways of the bow, Tryian fell in love with the sword. What is one of your Character's most skilled talents?: He knows what the wild offers. His knowledge about plants and animals allows him to craft his own clothes and keep him well fed, as well as how to arm himself for the hunt. A screenshot of your skin (must be in proper format, if you do not know how to acquire one, click here: http://www.lordofthe...kin-screenshot/): h Other Information about your Character: Tyrian has an inquisitive mind, his curiosity will drive him to encounter many wonders and possibly drive him to dangerous places in hopes to make a new discovery. Open-Response-Questions Whilst traveling from the Cloud Temple you see a small halfling, being harassed by two armed warriors. They appear to be trying to steal money from him, how does your character respond? Tyrian would walk curiously towards the three men wondering what they were in fact attempting to do. He would continue to plague them with questions. "Do all people treat others this way? Why is the short one so short? Is there a reason your sword looks like a different material than mine? What is so great about money if you cant wear, eat, or kill with it? Is this this a 'crime' that I read about? Do you intend to wear the little man's hide and eat his meat if you kill him? Are little men a delicacy?" At this time, the 2 men will either turn and attack Tyrian out of sheer irritation, or have answered one of his questions how he would deem immoral, at which case Tyrian would be the first to attack them. When the men are dealt with, Tyrian would likely have more questions for the Halfling. Your character wanders into Alras, and comes across a small stall, behind which a well dressed man is standing. He’s offering various wares, the merchant turns to you and says in a posh accent " 'ello there, what can I do you for today?" What is your character response? When the well-dressed shop owner addresses Tyrian, he would greet him in kind. After looking at the merchant’s wares, Tyrian would question the use and function of all items that appeared alien to him. This would probably take a considerable amount of the merchant’s time. If he found an item he would be interested in, he would attempt to barter it with his own belongings. If he had learned the use of money, he would probably not be very good at bargaining a better price. Whilst wandering in the wilds, your character comes across a small hut, which looks abandoned. Inside it you see a chest containing a few iron bars, and a golden sword. How would your character respond?: Tyrian would look closely at the foreign material. Picking up the iron bars, he would observe it shape and feel its weight. Unsure its use, he would probably bang it on the chest a couple times before placing it back where he found it. He would then turn to the sword. After checking its balance and the blade’s edge, he would like take the sword with him and placing his own sword in its place, along with a few pelts, believing he made a fair trade. (At this point, he would likely only have a cobblestone sword) Hungry and lost in the wilderness, you stumble across a small trading camp nestled among the forest, they greet you you in the common tongue, how do you respond? After coming out of the wilderness starving and greeted by some traders, Tyrian would work to barter his clothes and belongings for provisions. However, he would not part with his sword. If the traders asked for money in return for food, Tyrian would become confused and inquire about the use of such things. If he did have money on him, Tyrian would part with it eagerly, to free his burdon and to obtain things he could ACTUALLY use... You hear word that bandits occupy the road outside the town in which you have been staying. The town guard have gathered, and are asking for assistance to help eliminate them. The leader of the party is offering a reward for any who offer their support. How does your character act on this information?: Tyrian would approach the town guard, inquiring about the reward. If he is unfamiliar with the bounty or if he finds use for it, Tyrian will eagerly accept. If it is something that he has no interest in, Tyrian would request he be rewarded something that he could use during his travels... like bread. Anything else you would like to say?: Tyrian is Not stupid in the slightest. In fact he is very bright, and good at heart. He was just brought up ignorant. He may continue to act as such for a long time with noone to tell him otherwise, or he may find that one generous chatty fellow that could steer him on the right path. Who knows what will become of him. =)
