  1. Yeah I'm all for inserting first person RP into Nightfall, it would be very cool
  2. The Central Asian Union With the Central Asian Union now established, the former Central Asian Soviet Republics are finally reunited. Qasimov, when sworn in as the first ever President of the C.A.U. declares "Stronger together" for the umpteenth time before an enthusiastic and ethnically mixed crowd. It has come to characterize and mark his reign. Yet there is work to do - much work. First of all, the power grids of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan are lacking and undeveloped, yet due to the sparse population density of the C.A.U., the space is there to do something about that. Construction of several large nuclear power plants begins nationwide, the Kazakh uranium flowing out of the Northern mines and into the Souther power plants. Due to the existence of many of the needed materials for construction and maintenance within the C.A.U., the cost and time of these power plants is slightly reduced. They are however still very expensive to build and a slight tax increase is put into place as quietly as possible to maintain a good cash flow for the government and to avoid bad debt. ((5 pages)) The Q.1 dual-barrel tank had been under production in the newly founded factories of Kazakhstan for a short while now and with the addition of the industrial plants of the 4 other member states of the C.A.U., production per month increases significantly. About one fifth of the old tanks have been replaced with Q.1s and as the new models roll out, the old Soviet-era tanks are recycled or sold to not completely go to waste. With the national researchers now ready to move on, a new ambitious rifle and armour project is begun. The project has not yet received a name, but the basic idea is there and it is taking its first baby steps; the scientists are aiming for a fast firing and high damaging rifle which can be connected to and paired with a full body suit/armour. The armour imitates those already in place in foreign militaries, equipped with a smart HUD helmet with visor, electronic enhancement and aiding of the wearer's movement through the use of motors and the armour will also be coated with lightweight plates. The plating is first and foremost designed to absorb shock and shrapnel damage but should also significantly slow or deflect bullets if at the right angle. ((mod needed for time, this would be a big project for me considering my country's limited researching capabilities)) Finally, a proposition is offered to Afghanistan offering its joining with the C.A.U. as an equal state to the preexisting members. Qasimov promises that joining the C.A.U. would help to bring stability to the country and that much economic aid will be supplied if they accept. In reality, the offer is meant to boost the C.A.U.'s manpower and population, which sits at a modest 70 million for now and which would be significantly strengthened by the Afghans. In case of rejection, troops begin to move towards the border in small groups and the country's only Q.1s are all deployed in the region. A war would be costly due to the terrain and nature of Afghanistan but intimidation might help the C.A.U.'s cause. ((mod needed plz))
  3. I'll be gone monday-friday, but I have my iPad so I can do an emergency post if necessary
  4. Republic of Kazakhstan With wind power plants now completed, all across the country huge wind turbines can be found en masse, spinning lazily in the distance from every road and city. Although the project had been very costly and had drained much of the oil fund, the country now needed no other power plants or other sources of power. The wind turbines would pay for themselves in the following decades since Qasimov's government didn't need to purchase and use coal, gas and oil anymore and would therefore be saving a whole lot of money. Now that the military had reached its goal of 150,000 standing men, the need for new weapons, tanks and aircraft was more sore than ever. Although an alliance had been obtained with Germany, no blueprints of use had been for sale. The military is put through hard training in the meanwhile, hoping to compensate slightly for the inadequate equipment with tougher troops. Work on a new military research project begins using the newly educated researchers from the National University - the K-1 tank. The K-1 is not an overly complicated project, but rather a basic improvement on the average tank design. Advanced depleted uranium armour and a high-mobility turret together with a double cannon would ensure that the K-1 will be able to outclass most other tanks in the world. After extensive diplomatic work involving Kazakhstan's neighbours (Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan & Kyrgyzstan), an alliance has been secured and the nations grow ever closer by the day. Pushed onwards by threats of foreign invasion from the North and East, Qasimov proposes a huge step forwards for the Central Asian nations - the Central Asian Union (CAU). The Union would work as a federation of states with each state receiving equal rights and the right to elect their own representatives to the national congress, while also having their own local councils and leaders. ((mod needed for who joins/who doesn't join)) As a thanks to Germany for accepting the Kazakh alliance, they get discounts on glorious potassium.
  5. Republic of Kazakhstan For long has the Republic of Kazakhstan lived in peace in Central Asia. Little does the outside world care for the Central Asian ex-Soviet Republics, and even Kazakhstan - the largest and richest of them all is very much ignored globally. The Kazakh peoples have long prospered by themselves, maintaining good relations with their neighbours while slowly nurturing their economy. The vast amount of uranium, oil, natural gases, potassium, phosphate and many many other natural resources in Kazakhstan has made it an industrial powerhouse built on the export of oil and gas, yet now as the oil output falters, the Kazakh economy shakes, as insecurity on the future rocks the country. Amidst all this, the Patriot Party rises and takes the elections by storm, electing President Ghani Qasimov to power. Qasimov is set on building Kazakhstan into a global power and where many others see failure in the future, he sees glory. Immediately, oil exports are cut to only 5% of the national production, producing a slight revenue but conserving all that one can for future spending and military needs. The country's oil fund is meanwhile put into the construction of large windmill farms across the country's vast plains, ideal locations for such power production. 10% of the fund is also put into the annual military budget, money which mainly goes into a new recruiting campaign which is meant to achieve a standing army of 150,000 men from the current 130,000 or so. It is however painstakingly clear to Qasimov that his army is in very poor shape technologically. Most of the air force, artillery and armoured divisions are all armed with old Soviet equipment which has been well-maintained but would still prove ineffective when facing modern armies such as those in Europe. It is necessary to obtain an ally of great power from which Kazakhstan can purchase modern weaponry and so Qasimov looks to Europe and Asia. - A trade agreement, offer to purchase blueprints and an alliance is offered to Germany - A similar proposal is offered to Japan - A trade agreement and offer to purchase blueprints is also offered to China Offers for mutual declarations of friendship, offers for trade agreements and for shared technology are also offered to Kyrgystan, Tajikistan and Usbekistan (mod needed). Qasimov hopes to bond the Central Asian republics closer and even brings up talks of a possible future union for the benefit of them all, stating "In the world we inhabit, the saying 'Stronger together' has never been more true than now." The few scientist available to the government are put into the creation of a National University of Military Strategy and Technology, seeing the need to quickly educate the younger generation so to be able to take on larger research projects in the future. Hopefully the nation's immediate needs will be taken care of with a few purchased blueprints. (mod plz) Qasimov observes the escalating war in Europe and notes with particular interest the two-front attack on Russia. If the proposed alliances are accepted his nation might be forced to action, but for now Kazakhstan is in no condition to wage a total war on any major superpower. Slowly but surely he would build a great nation in Central Asia... brick by brick.

  9. The High Lordship of Stros M'kai Stros M'kai stats: -15,000 civilians - A 3,000-man garrison force consisting of: - 2,000 spearmen -500 archers -500 swordmen - A 50-ship fleet manned by 1,000 sailors & captains consisting of: - 30 swift galleys, equipped with rowers, sails and a shallow hull for increased speed, plus bronze-plated noses for ramming - 15 caravels, small and entirely dependent on wind, fast and agile but lightly armed -5 'Royal' galleys, same as the lighter galleys, but with two floors of rowers, larger sails and a small ballistae on-board A cool gust of wind swept across the calm surface of the water in the bay, past the numerous galleys and mercantile ships tied up along the grey limestone dockside, up through the streets and into the face of High Admiral Daroher Caraithon, who was leaning on the railing on his terrace overlooking the port of Stros M'kai, his seat of power. Originally having served under one of the richer Lords of the mainland Hammerfell cities as a marine strategist and rising to the post of admiral through the years, he had used the chaos unfolding throughout the realm to declare independence, taking with him his loyal captains and the majority of the fleet and retreating to his personal estate or possession, the tropical island which he was now overlooking, styling himself 'High Admiral'. High Admiral Daroher had a few problems - he was very poor and although he had a considerable fleet, he did not have the income to support it, as the island itself was quite too small and too poor to sustain itself, both economically and agriculturally. Additionally, although he had a firm grasp on the island and no apparent enemies, he lusted for more power already, having felt what it was like to rule, even on such a small scale, what it was like to wield power over others. Drafting up plans with his closest advisors, they reach a clear conclusion; Stros M'kai must become a pirating port once again to sustain itself and generate income. The island lays strategically along the trade routes to and from the Hammerfell coastal cities and with the capture of a few of its neighbours' ports, Strosian ships could potentially heap numerous riches from undefended mercantile vessels. Quickly drafting orders for his staff, Daroher dispatches his entire light galley fleet to prowl Hunding and Hews bay (arrows represent general direction scouted), accompanied by 10 caravels. They are to approach any lonely or undefended vessels in pairs, ramming if meeting resistance and boarding if not. In the latter case, the ship is to be captured and towed back to Stros M'kai, to be added to the High Admiralship's fleet. This will all of course occur with no flags or banners raised. Meanwhile, a task force including the 5 remaining 'Royal' galleys and 5 caravels will head East, to capture the island East of Stros M'kai in the name of the High Admiral Daroher Caraithon (circled on the map), claiming that he is the rightful Lord of the Western seas and will bring riches and peace to the crumbling realm. Although the island (which I can't find the name of) is technically part of Cyrodiil, resistance might be offered because of race difference but in that case, the 500 swordsmen accompanying the fleet are ordered to storm after a swift ballistae bombardment and secure the victory in the name of the High Admiral. To boost morale, the expeditionary force is granted a 2-month payment bonus, money scraped together from an empty coffer in hopes of bringing booty back to fill it. Finally, High Admiral Daroher sends a couple of trusted agents to the Kingdom of Rihad, ordered to enter the city's political environment and poke around a bit, reporting back directly to Daroher if anything interesting or alarming is discovered. No diplomatic envoys or couriers are sent out from the island yet.
  10. What would be a reasonable amount of war ships to start with, considering I am roleplaying an island nation?
