  1. Turn 7 – 2207

As the sun sets, and rises, the Adaaptar of the Quercus continue their toil, the work is never done.

The Exploration ship sailed into it’s cradle at the space port, the hull pitted with dents. As it is looked over, the Metal Bender tuts, fingering the micro-asteroid holes with some displeasure.

”This cannot be avoided it seems with the Fusion Power engines we have used... But, with the new Warp engines! Alas anything is possible.”

The work on refitting the exploration ship commences, the workers in their space suits using their plasma torches beginning to patch holes and other dents in the hull. A new warp drive is brought up to the ship, beggining the installation as the captain reads over the plans.

”Ah, this shall make our lives much easier...”

Two more sister ships begin construction, the crew of the original is dispersed amongst the new boats. They await their ships to be given the green light once more.

As the researchers continue their work, celebrations were abound for the discovery of Warp travel. The plane of Olea rejoiced in a public holiday, their religious fervour abound for the Old One. Dedications and prayer was sent out into the void, all voiced to rejoice in the One.

The Adaptaar, after months of busy work, began their work anew for the sensor program. The sensors were upsized, with power modules increasing in output to match. Advancements in the software allowed for more efficient data processing, with improved latency between the sensor and the controlling computer.

Meanwhile, a team headed by Fulva begins to look at the illnesses and sickness that have come all apparent in this new inter-stellar age.

”Why should we fear the sicknesses of the past?” asked the Archon.

The small institute began it’s work, formulating more powerful vaccines and anti-fungals that have plagued the adaptaar for millennia.

The recently made Colony ship roars into action, taking off into the void. The new warp drive causing the displacement to be mere minutes, a fleet of smaller vessels are used to ferry the colonists off into their new home.

The dust cloud of Morus were to be mined, but those who have came are not all of good intention.

”With this frontier town, we can operate more openly.”

“The discontent has died down for now... But we didn’t cause that.”

”Well, no worries to be had then!”

”I am not too sure, I shall look over the slates. Be wary out there.”

”Nonsense, I am here to help.”

The High Archon descended from his perch in the capital in Bombax, his robes fluttering. Travelling to the Life Institute, he began a flurry of activity. Blessed individuals found greater fervour for their work, operating with their minds of their patients.

Our fair assembly began with a moment of silence for the recently deceased guardsman whom men dubbed Plaid.

    I. ASCENSION OF ARKAZNIV TO THE STATUS OF PATRICIAN

Raised by the late Prince Alfred Myre, Nedric Arkazniv is to be affirmed to the status of Patrician and afforded those rights bestowed upon the status by the Charter of the Golden City of Ves.

This proposal passed with a count of eleven ayes, no nays and six abstentions.

II. ASCENSION OF MORRIS TO THE STATUS OF PATRICIAN

Raised by the late Prince Alfred Myre, Chadwick Morris is to be affirmed to the status of Patrician and afforded those rights bestowed upon the status by the Charter of the Golden City of Ves.

This proposal passed with a count of eight ayes, no nays and eight abstentions.

III. ASCENSION OF VAROCHE TO THE STATUS OF PATRICIAN

Raised by the late Prince Alfred Myre, Paul Freedom Varoche is to be affirmed to the status of Patrician and afforded those rights bestowed upon the status by the Charter of the Golden City of Ves.

This proposal failed miserably with a count of zero ayes, eight nays and eight abstentions.

IV. THE RESURGENCE OF THE TITLE OF TAVERN LORD (LADY)

Proposed by Prince Matthias seeking to afford the owner and proprietor of the Bird and the Bard tavern a perpetual seat in the city assembly. The proposal was met with mixed response, with Assemblyman Cassian whom has proven to be vocal of his distaste of the tavern’s no smoking laws expressing discontent. Assemblyman Jan Haas, first among equals explained to the assembly that this vote would require changing the fundamental definitions of the assembly within the charter and could not be done without a vote of 2/3rds majority, which the Assembly did not hold.

This proposal was tabled by the Prince to the 12th Session of the City Assembly.

    V. ASCENSION OF LITHREN TO THE STATUS OF PATRICIAN

Raised by Prince Matthias, Lithren of the Bird and the Bard is to be affirmed to the status of Patrician and afforded those rights bestowed upon the status by the Charter of the Golden City of Ves. Assemblyman Cassian spoke briefly about the precedent set in a previous session of the City Assembly in which a Patrician must be required to sire children. The proposal was requested to be tabled by Assemblyman Jan Haas, first among equals so this precedent can be investigated by the Office of the Magistrate.

This proposal was tabled by the Prince to the 12th Session of the City Assembly.

VI. REQUEST FOR A HOOKAH (SMOKING DEVICE) WITHIN THE GATEHOUSE

Proposed by Assemblyman Zahret al-Qataffi seeking to order the City Watch to place a hookah within the gatehouse. The assemblyman droned on about the benefits until he was rebuffed by the Prince.

This proposal was vetoed by the Prince.

VI. A CHANGE TO THE UNIFORM OF THE CITY WATCH OF VES

Proposed by Assemblyman Zahret al-Qataffi seeking to order the City Watch to change the uniforms of the City Watch to be forced to wear headscarfs. A dispute began between the two watchmen-in-assembly Assemblyman al-Qataffi and Assemblyman Black.

This proposal failed with a count of two ayes, four nays and ten abstentions.

VII. CONCLUSION OF THE ELEVENTH SESSION OF THE CITY ASSEMBLY OF VES

Proposed by Prince Matthias Rutledge, this proposal seeks to conclude the assembly.

This proposal passed with a count of six ayes, zero nays and ten abstentions.

Our Prince has perished, long live the Prince. Alfred Myre lived as he died.

The Assembly of the Golden City of Ves is tasked with electing the new Prince from the batch of Patricians. These candidates are listed below.

    Patrician Matthias Rutledge

    Patrician Mortimer Myre

    Patrician Nedric Arkazniv

    Patrician Chadwick Morris

    Patrician Paul Varoche

The Third Assembly had failed to elect a new Prince after the death of Prince Myre. Their time was up and it was time for a new assembly to elect a Prince from the candidates listed. The previous vote was Four for Nedric, Three for Matthias, and Three for Chadwick with none receiving a majority.

Now it is time for the Fourth Assembly to vote for our Prince. The election was managed by Assemblyman Jan Haas, first among equals. The roll was called for each and every assemblyman. Patrician Matthias Rutledge received eleven votes, Patrician Nedric Arkazniv received four votes after his endorsement of Prince Matthias, and Patrician Chadwick Morris received a single vote after his brother blundered his speech.

We have a majority, Matthias Rutledge ascends to the title of Prince of the Golden City of Ves.

The stars waltzed around the galactic core, their many lesser partners swinging around their suns. Out in the ‘North West’ arm of the galaxy, one could find the Quorum, their scurrying for interstellar ambitions keeping them busy.

The office was awash with a flurry of activity, board after board of cellulose was being filled with lines and lines of mathematics. The four adaptaar were conversing rapidly using their psionics, the formulation and debate occurring as quick as they could think.

”More!” a cry went out to the under-researcher, but they were already prepared, when they wheeled another board in, numbered in the corner. The leading Adaptaar scribbled the last on the board as one of the colleagues stood, proceeding to continue the equations to the next board.

Meanwhile, the sensor division of research on Olea had made leaps and bounds. Macro-sizing the new sensors that had been produced for the exploration ships was proceeding leaps and bounds.

”Move it more to the left!

Left! and ease it in.... Yes!”

Scaba looked at the prototype aboard the small ship, ready to test this new long range sensor.

Further scurrying was made on the launch pad, a vessel being loaded with construction materials.

It soared through the atmosphere, docking with the minor spaceport. The skilled workers, clustered around the large skeleton of a ship, chatted to the closest Adaptaar near them, operating a daisy chain to converse instructions and reports on how their work was going. Further the work was done on the new colony ship.

The gun runner grunted, moving the shipment to the drop off. As they left the items there, they scurried off through the undergrowth.

The planet thrummed with energy, as psionic calls and responses were thrown out in the festival. The Archon nodded to the Mind Bender,

    ”It goes well yes?”

”Indeed, but we’ve had reports of malcontent.”

    ”Indeed?”

    ”Yes.”

The Archon’s visage darkened, “Step up surveillance on them then.”

The Mind Bender nodded, storing the tidbit away in their head to enact when the time permitted.

    The Swiss Confederacy

    Background

Having been a Confederate, multi-religious collection of states during the Religious war of 1640, the Swiss Confederacy remained neutral, on the ground that the Catholic Cantons attempted to promote their religion to the protestant states. Due to this, refugees from the surrounding companies swamped through the mountain valleys in the West, burgeoning Geneva into a large state. This fact, coupled with the rise of french-speaking protestants settling across the entirety of the confederacy, has seen Geneva been made as the 14 Canton in 1683.

The religious tension in the region is rising, as the refugee crisis of 1641 has swollen the typically catholic heartland of the Confederacy be over wrought by french peasant families, now entering their second, or even third generation. Cantons and peasants alike chose Protestantism out of their own accord, but the Catholic heartland still holds the sway of power in the Swiss Diet, even if in monetary or manpower this power may have dropped away.

Due to their numerous defence and mercenary contracts the individual cantons have signed to their neighbours, they’ve remained neutral in the recent years, but certain associates have been ravaged by the great powers travelling their land. The Swiss have maintained a state of readiness for hundreds of years, and have tried to remain at the forefront of military innovation, regardless that their more minor manpower would lend to it.

    The Cantons

The burghers met in their guild halls, deciding on their professions stance on the new legislation that their colleagues have put forward. The discussion and debates continued until the town meeting had arrived. The guild masters, charged with their constituent's wants, desires and wishes, seated themselves in the hall, nodding and waving their greetings to fellow businessmen. The meisters had their debate, leaving the hall with their heads held high, for while some had their discourse, they had agreed to put forward the reforms to the Diet.

Weeks later, the delegates from Zurich prepared their burg for the 13 other delegations of the cantons, with their 72 associates, protectorates, subjects and condominiums sending their representatives to argue and watch the major 14 states decide their fates.

These 72 lesser states watched, whether aghast or in glee as the cantons had decided their Reformation, a wide range of legislature to improve centralisation of the Confederacy.

For if the great powers began to pool their resources to form nation-states, why shouldn’t these liberal and intelligent Swiss?

    The Swiss Reform, 1684

    As signed by:

Zurich, Berne, Lucerne, Geneva, Uri, Schwyz, Unterwalden, Zug, Glarus, Basel, Fribourg, Solothurn, Schaffhausen, Appenzell

That these states do so agree that their separate and indifferent borders are to be eroded away. The 14 Cantons do swear that they are not 14, but 1 Swiss Confederacy. Therefore, they agree that the Confederacy shall be made of constituent members of the Cantons to present a fair system of Democracy to represent all 14 areas of the Swiss. Due to this agreement and their centralisation, the Confederacy formally absorbs the following condominiums and subjects into the Confederacy proper, to be distributed and allowed to reside within the Cantons themselves.

    The Condominiums of:

    Freie Amter; County of Baden; County of Sargans; Landgraviate of Thurgau; Vogtei of Rheintal; Vogtei of Blenio; Vogtei of Rivera; Vogtei of Bellinzona; Landvogtai of Valmaggia; Landvogtai of Lugano; Landvogtai of Locarno; Londvogtai of Mendrisio; Count of Schwarzenburg; Curten; Grandson; Orve and Echallens; Uznach; Windegg; Hohensax; Valley of Leventina; Valley of Urseren; Kussnact; Einsiedeln Abbey; March; Hofe; County of Wedenberg;

The Confederacy also does agree to pool their resources and economy to supply a standing Swiss Army made up of the separate Cantons to provide a force to protect the Confederacy. Furthermore, the Swiss Army could not be put into contract as Mercenaries unless ratified by the whole Confederacy.

Finally, the Confederacy so allows the cantons to levy a singular tax upon all its subjects. In order to both pay for this new standing army while also to provide relief for those Cantons and subject states to build highways and bridges throughout the Confederacy, simultaneously to reinforce the mountain passes and Burgs.

    Actions

[Diplomacy] The Cantons send diplomats reaffirming their neutrality to the great powers of the world, such as the Hasburgs, the French, the Venetians, the Danes, the Spanish or the English; while also offering the Swiss banking service for the neighbouring states.

[Mod] The Swiss Confederacy unifies their military might between them, undergoing a series of military reform and joint training to cement loyalty to their fellow cantons.

[Mod] The Swiss Confederacy offers the opportunity to their Associates: the The City of Biel, The City of St. Gallen, the Bishopric of St. Gallen, the Seiben Zendel, and the Three Leagues; the chance to join the confederacy.

Another year, another story. The planet span it’s cycles around the star, which research and discovery to be had by all.

The twin ships had spent a year travelling between systems, travelling as a pair to the nearby stars at the edge of the galaxy.

Barren worlds and gas giants greeted them at every turn, the captains becoming despondent.

6 months passed, and with low crew morale, the twin shipped embarked on their final journey together. They both drifted through the void to the final star. After dropping their acceleration, the twin crews paused in wonder. This planet was surrounded in a vast cloud of dust. With low visibility, the pair drifted apart to cover more ground.

As confirmation of the dust composition came in, a wealth of minerals in dust-form, the sight of a planet was found.

Celebrations were to be had, and the crews rejoiced, for the planet was indeed unique. Held in stasis, the world was an orb of blue in this unique cloud, for surely great interest for the scientific community.

As the new labratory equipment went in production, the intellectual property leased out to one of the various corporations of the Quercus Quorum, the prototypes were put to use on Olea.

Scaba, stepping off the small transport vessel, breathed in the air of Minima, the icy breathe condensing in the air.

As the days turned to months, using the new equipment, the geology of Minima was assessed and categorised, with new mining methods being developed.

From the jungle came Adaptaar, wether alone or in pairs, they slowly filtered from the clearing they had just met in.

A few hours previously, a well built plantoid had addressed the populace, a well built stage and state of the art PA system, conveying his words to the crowd. Money had clearly found its way into Grata’s pockets.

The ships drifted apart, their final voyage together finished for the foreseeable future. They travelled in opposite directions, intent on discovering more of the universe.

The streets were thronging with plantoid bodies, short range psionic chatter causing the air to hold a fay-like energy.

”Some are not happy with the decision High Archon...”

“I know, but the decision has been accepted by the majority of our believers!”
”I agree it is a good idea, but some of the combines have seen decreased productivity due to decreased fervour.”
”I know, but they’ll have to manage, they pay their tithe’s and that is all we really care on.”

”Agreed, I’ll keep an eye on them, I don’t trust them at all...”

The celebrations continued for the weeks to come, until the residents of Bombax realised that their home wasn’t the exalted, but Orea was.

As the fusion drives were checked and rechecked, the twin ships were ready.

The ships, piloted expertly within half a kilometer within each other, gave each other electromagnetic O.K.s. The captains briefly conversed over their psionics before the engines roared into life, the first stage of the mission to be completed in union, as all things should be.

The scout vessels drifted out of Bombax, entering into the unknown.

Grata left through the door, his gait steady and his face neutral. He turned to his friend, commenting on the conversation they just had.

”I’m not sure on this... They claim they are religious but wish to aid in our cause... We must think on this.”

The men and women of the laboratories of Maxma cried out, for they had made a breakthrough. Fulva entered the lab, a wide grin upon his face.

”So these new plant forms, there is a species which focuses down light through a strange lens on it’s form?”
”Yes yes, and concentrates it into this densely packed receptor!”
”Ah, so both have been adapted for our sensors?”

”Indeed, they’ll be ready next year, and produced the year following!”

  10. So I played LOTC from when I first joined in 2013 up until the end of the first empire, around 2014. After a 6 months or so hiatus, I came back for 4 months and then stopped in mid-2014 until recently (christmas of 2018).

For before my 5 year hiatus I played a single character, Borric Tyrus. He started off as a simple Human boy is Asulon, kinda wandered around the place rp’ing benignly. My aim at the time was to make him a bard of sorts but I got recruited into the ‘Oren Lances’. This then progressed until the character became a knight and joined the White Rose. This marked him becoming a rather brutal anti-elf racist, who happened to be very nationalistic. That continued after my first Hiatus into the third empire and its collapse.

Fast forward to now, I initially played a descendent of Borric, but quickly grew bored and became Chadwick Morris. Chadwick is not military minded unlike Borric and is into Legal and Political RP.

I’ve been tempted into making a smith or other craftsman character but have been on the fence until Chadwick dies.

As Ser Sun Watanabe was injured, the Lieutenants had chosen Otho Aurelius Helvets to become leader. This was on the stipulation was that Otho Arelius Helvets would stand down as a Lesser Justice if he accepted the Captaincy.

    III. BAILIFFS ACT

A  proposal from the Captain of the Guard, Otho Aurelius Helvits, was read out by Prince Alfred (Lord) Myre. This proposal was to give the City Guard the powers to arrest criminals and take bail where possible, streamlining the justice system of Ves.

  12. Oh BOY have you picked an interesting time to get back into Humans on LOTC.

If you look through the human sections of the forum/wiki it’ll be very confusing (and incredibly propaganda focused), so here’s a TLDR (which may be a tad bias, sorry I’m only human):

    • Humans were in the 7th empire under an old emperor and some people got disgruntled under their reign (raiding of vassals and animosity between leaderships between the imperial government and the vassal nation states)
    • This got to a head when the last emperor took hiatus from LOTC and the nation states decided to plan to rebel
    • News got out in a certain way (this is charged, so when I say it was a banned player’s Wander soul, others will disagree), and the previous emperor broke up the empire and killed the title.
    • This caused the vast majority of vassals to promote a new dynasty and reform the holy oren empire. The old imperial government decided to fight this forming the imperium renatus
    • So currently there is the Holy Oren Empire vs Imperium Renatus.

So welcome back, both sides will want to grab you.

Now, as an Oren Imperial (the renatus people are rebels):

Join the Holy Oren Empire and specifically the City of Ves! We’ve the most active city on the server and is ran by a small democracy of all players who are interested (and live within the city), so it’s not PVP focused, and we’re currently expanding the city and some members are starting a literature revolution!

Oren wants to promote RP over ooc and focus less on the PVP dictated politics humans had devolved into, so join the good side! The vast majority of Humans are with us so I can’t see why you’d not be with us.

  13. Chadwick frowns at the statement, noting out loud.

“The d’Montelliano really don’t understand how Ves works do they? There is no such thing as a ‘Mayor Prince’, and being a Patrician gives him the right for him and his kin to sit on the city council, something the d’Montelliano have never done since Ves was reborn as a Princedom. Furthermore the man’s closest kin was forced into exile by the very men he now serves, as he attempted assassination upon them! This man seems like the rest of the rebellious claimants, absent from their home and dug up from the woodworks when they think they can get a claim. If anything the d’Montelliano are a sad sad bunch, for their blood left in Ves will surely suffer for this man’s falsehoods.”

  14. The Emperor's Justice

    1715

    sG3574B.png

As has been decreed by His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Joseph I, the Empire of Oren is to charge numerous individuals of the old Imperium with crimes too numerous to speak of here.

It is however, in his Imperial Mercy, noted that under this new Imperium, that every man and women be afforded a fair and just trial. Gone is the ways of death and persecution. Every person charged by the Empire, or its vassals, are to provide a chance to clear their name, or else repent their sins for leniency. For those that wish to waive this right, that is their choice and as a fellow citizen of Man, I can respect this.

Therefore, it is to be said that in His Emperor’s name and in His justice, I, Chadwick Morris, do offer my aid to every person so charged. From now and henceforth, I shall attempt to clear names where I am able, for His Imperial Majesty has given all a chance to a second life.

I implore those still of the Rebel Banner. This new Imperium I am a part of, it shall extend to all those who wish it an Olive Branch of peace. For we wish not for subjugation and mindless loyalty. We wish for the empowerment of all men and women. We wish to ensure that the men and women are never again given the horror and terror that the Pertinaxi have inflicted upon them in recent times.

All members of the Rebellion of Renatus may seek legal council and aid from myself, and those that I find willingly to do this tireless work. We shall do this in charity, for the glory of man dictates it is our duty.

    Ave Imperium. Ave Marna.

    Signed,
    Chadwick Morris,

Count of Ager, Patrician of Ves
