The Wiki Competition concluded a month ago, and the scoring has been tabulated and finalized. Apologies for the wait. Here are the results.

Second Place - @yopplwasupxxx

Third Place - @Edeldrache

There were also two award categories: Best Art and Best Screenshot. Unfortunately, nobody submitted art during the competition period. However, there were numerous screenshots added.
Best Screenshot - @Ioannis
Reward: 2000 Minas
"Kal'Sitarae Valley"
Screenshot Honorable Mention - @Deminisher
Deminisher has voluntarily created the server political maps for years, allowing the Wiki to always have a useful and up-to-date map on the main page. These maps were compiled into a wonderful timelapse gif by Deminisher, displaying the shifting political lines over time.

That's it for this competition. Thank you to everybody who participated! Your work is truly appreciated.

How do I apply for a wiki account?
0Message myself or any other Wiki Team member and we'll set one up. The only information we need is a username and an email address to register the account.

Thanks for participating, everybody! The results will be out in a couple weeks.
Hello, Friends of Malinor!
The Wiki Team is hosting a Wiki Competition during the month of June! All you have to do to participate is contribute to the wiki during the competition time period. At the end of the month the team will review those who have contributed and determine the top three contributors during the competition. These top three members will receive amazing prizes for their efforts (and the rest of you get my everlasting gratitude, whatever that is worth). The competition begins upon the release of this post and the official end date is 11:59 PM UTC on June 26th - so get to it!
Contributors will be judged by these factors:
-
Volume of contributions
-
Presence of original content (Not everything should be copied from the forums preferably)
-
Page formatting and pleasing appearance
-
Effort
-
Writing Style and Grammar
-
Accuracy of Information
And of course you all want to know what the prizes are...
Prizes
First Place: 3000 Minas + Two Skill Tomes + Wiki Wizard Forum Tag
Second Place: 2000 Minas + Skill Tome + Wiki Wizard Forum Tag
Third Place: 1000 Minas + Skill Tome
In addition, there will also be two categorical awards: Best Art and Best Screenshots. Original art and screenshots add much needed depth to a wiki page. Therefore, those who wish to submit an original art piece related to a wiki page or in-game screenshots will be recognized. These will simply need to be sent to a wiki team member to be entered. The submissions will be voted on by the community in a public vote after the competition is completed. The winner for each category will be given 2000 Minas.
If you have yet to acquire a wiki account, contact any wiki team member and one will be created for you. Make sure you complete and submit all of your work before June 27th as it will not be counted in the competition if submitted late. Oh, and if some of you find out that wiki work excites you, I highly encourage submitting an application to the Wiki Team. I promise you will fit in quite well with the rest of us wiki fanatics.
That is all for today. Good luck, and happy contributing!

One of the greatest contributors the wiki has ever been blessed with.
A hard worker, impartial, and level-headed.

For those who are interested, I am stepping down as Wiki Team Director after a year of holding the position and more than a year and a half of being on staff. In addition, I am moving away from Lotc as a whole (although I’ll still poke my head in every so often to see how things are going).
I am not going to stand on a soap box to spew criticism nor write an essay about the futility of the server. I would simply like to thank those who gave their time for the team and volunteered for the community. Being a wiki team member is an overall thankless position, but I truly believe the wiki is a core part of our server and that the work of the team is essential for the wiki’s success. I would like to think that the team under my leadership proved this theory.
I will use this post as an opportunity to communicate a couple personal observations of mine from spending over five years on this server. Always keep a good perspective of yourself and the server as a whole. Some people come here for the friendships, some people stick around for the strategy, others for a sense of meaning. But whatever your reason for being here is, Lord of the Craft should remain as a fun activity to do on the side. A little project to keep you busy, or roleplaying as a hobby. Real life should always come before this game. Have a more understanding thought process while you are here. Be nice to the people behind the screen. Remember why you are here and why they are here. Don’t forget that this is a game, although a game that I have made numerous friends on, spent uncountable hours chatting in Malinor and Haelun’or, sent thousands of messages about over Skype, and ultimately a game and community that I do not regret joining.
Simply keep things in perspective.
Thanks again,
Nate
