  1. Across hundreds of oceans of sinister depth, plains of shimmering stalks of silver grain, through dungeons deep and walls risen high, and through a canopy of vermilion soaring above it all – a sense of presence becomes known to the Keeper’s last of kin. Nearly as though the aged, paled ginger walked through the long streets of the Dominion again, his chattering tones mingling with the business of the city’s once bustling square, which now laid in ruin.

Nearly as though he was sitting once more before their Hearth, humming lullabies to the younger Mali’, who had all now grown old and carried blades like the Knights Loriens had told them they would become.

Nearly as though he stood beside his brothers again, arms crossed and brows furrowed as they always were when bad news came, which did so all too often.

Yet to any who turned their gaze to the Hearth would know the Keeper’s demise true. The Flame of Malin roared on - and thus,  The duty of Loriens Silma was fulfilled.

Yes, but that’s arcanum and not machinery. Magic is separate from technology.

  3. Y’all gotta remember that LotC is derived from LotR. I think the techlock we have in place is to mimic that universe (to a very mild degree), and the current lore that is in place doesn’t really create a suitable environment for something like this. As cool as it would be to have vehicles and instill a new “high-fantasy” vibe onto the server, it truly wouldn’t fit the seven year theme they’ve been working to protect.

  4. The High Prince takes a moment to walk through each district. In Irrinor, he saw the Aspectist faith flourish - greenery filling the area and the consistent chattering of wayfarers and residents echoing from the square. He gave pause, simply elevating a light smile and moving along.

To Velunor was next - and with a slight sense of pride and awe Loriens witnessed the new additions and remodeling. The area created was filled with piles of spice, empty stalls eagerly awaiting new owners, and tall ships bobbing along in the harbor.

Then came Valleinor. One of the more notably quiet districts indeed - yet from the Mage's Guild was wrought curiosity and discovery. Passing by the guild he saw but a few filtering in and out.

"Though foes rest on the horizon - Caras Eldar flourishes within. Each day I witness the Mali'ker proudly stand for and build their culture. Each day I pass Druids staying true to the tenets of the Lord and Lady. Valleinor is quiet - though some of the brightest minds research within.

I am proud of what has been built here. Imaginative, those who think us a dying state."

    OOC Note:

This is the second piece of propaganda you've created in an attempt to hinder the Dominion. I would advise you cease writing from a place of omnipotence on the forums, and faking migrations that never occured. You certainly aren't allowed to divine characters, and 'hundreds' of elves leaving. It's some degree of powergaming in order to supplement your own disagreements with the government.

This isn't even an IC document you're posting - you're just faking events.

I do not owe anyone, especially people who don't know what they're talking about, access to something thats gained through roleplay alone. Bending to some kind of arbitrary idea where something rare must absolutely have a consistent and plentiful is spineless and would lead to the same problems that this proposal intends to fix in the first place, especially since it's not even a magic in the first place.

You do you. Elitism always ends well.

  6. Ah yes - precisely what we need in terms of magics. More impossible to access, yet ridiculously powerful abilities that are only shared by the same group of circlejerking buddies. Very nice touch.

    Previous Martial Experience:

Though surely not as impressive as those of your current roster, I've served the general realm as a wandering peacekeeper wherever I might find violence. Though I do hate to resolve all things with a blade, and much prefer soothing the aggravated, I have learned to care for myself and others. Never having received official training I could stand to gain from joining your ranks, though you need not worry of utter and complete incompetence.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

The Atronach falls under the overlying branch of construct. Though cousins to the Golems built from stone, Atronachs are born purely from the womb of the Void. The conjuration of an atronach may be derived from a blend of conjuration, evocation and transfiguration. Though a majority of atronachs are associated with an element (fire, water, earth, air, etc), telekinetic and arcanic variants exist.

Similar to the creation of a golem, a core is required to be shaped and enchanted by a magi of exceptional talent. A singular core is composed of a mana gem, entirely enveloped in a layer of arcaurum. The shape of such a core is cylindrical, as opposed to the spherical and cuboid shape of golem cores. While a body may be formed after this stage, it will lack shape of any kind. This shape, though commonly so, isn’t restricted to humanoid. In order to bring form to an atronach, it must be contained by a set of binding plates. These plates do not necessarily encompass the entirety of an atronach, as armor does, so long as it provides a guide for the creator’s desired format. Though the coined term ‘plates’ may be associated with metal, it is not required for these guidelines to be so.

Mana is crucial to the atronach’s continued existence. Much like an engine, the more a familiar exudes its own form (whether it be through combat or simple existence), the more it will deplete its own power source. In order to ‘refuel’ this engine, an atronach must return to its owner for temporary fueling, or a mana obelisk for a more fulfilling supplement. Should an atronach fully deplete itself, it will dissipate and return to its most basic state - the core. Mana must be resupplied in order to bring life back to the familiar.

True behavior is dictated entirely by the atronach’s creator. Regardless of whatever hint of sentient will the atronach may develop, the word of its creator must be followed without fault. However, this isn’t to say personality may not be formed. Based on experiences, teachings, and other explorations of the world, they can resemble (in behavior only), the typical descendant. In their earliest days, however, they’re much like children. Even the simplest of things must be taught to the newborn atronach - reading, writing, and speaking. However, their connection to the void and the manipulation of their body is something innate.

Moving to the innate abilities of an atronach, such depends on the element they’re created with. Typically, there are two types of atronachs - those with a solid body, and those with a ‘liquid’ body. However, the arcanic atronach is a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ so to speak, being both. Those with fluidity of body are better suited to ranged combat - being able to siphon portions of their own body into attacks. For example, a flame atronach may expel a portion of its form (thus consuming mana) forth to form a fireball projectile. This same concept may be applied to all other liquid atronachs, an arcanic ones when they cast. Solid atronachs are the most similar to golems, being durable, yet inept at ranged combat entirely. Maiming or otherwise destroying the core of an atronach will instantaneously cause it to dissipate, with no exceptions. If the plates that act as guidelines for the atronach are destroyed or damaged enough, the element that composes the atronach may, if severe enough damage is done, explode and injure those in the immediate surroundings. This will cause the atronach to retract to its core, and become lifeless until refueled and reformed.
