What is roleplaying?: - Roleplaying is where you play a fictional character and control their actions, reacting to the environment around you as if you are the character being played. What’s metagaming?: - Metagaming is when you use information that you know out of character but not in character and utilise it to your advantage somehow. For example, if you see someone’s name through a wall, it would be metagaming to have your character know that they are there. What’s powergaming?: - Powergaming is where you either a. Most lore can be found on our wiki.): - Many years ago, Kiran of Clan Grandaxe fought ferociously alongside his brother, Wulfgar and father, Morgrim in the greatest and bloodiest war in dwarven history. Serving with dignity alongside the Father of his Clan, Bazian, he lived a lived fraught with danger in the defense of the dwarven hold, Kal’Anart. For many years, he was forced to spend days and nights from his home, fighting in the vast orcish deserts of Krugmar. It was upon one of these many days that he had become divided from his fellow comrades, lost and astray as he wandered for any sign of direction back to the dwarven holdings. It was there that he happened upon a hut, strewn together with dirt and cloth. From inside, he could hear the sound of teeth gnashing together as an orcish cub tore into a large chunk of cow meat. Kiran approached steadily, his axe drawn as he pulled back the curtains of the hut and stepped inside. The orcish cub stared up towards him, its tiny tusks protruding from its mouth as it set what was left of the piece of meat onto the ground. Kiran remained upright as he made his way through the hunt, searching for any trace of edible food that the orcs had left behind. Many days of travel had left him weary. It was then that he heard voices from the distance, deep and rasping, speaking in a tongue unfamiliar to his ears. Kiran quickly backed off into the darkest corner of the hunt as a pair of orcs made their way inside. They appeared to be a male and female, each in tattered robes, wearing the skins of beasts they had hunted and slain. The dwarf hesitated for a moment as the two orcs’ pale eyes looked up towards him, their gaze sharpening as they met with his own. Without another word, Kiran lunged forward, sinking his axe into the centre of the male orc’s chest, before making a quick slice into the female orc’s legs. The male orc collapsed instantly while the female grabbed hold of a hunting blade from her side. Amidst the chaos, the orcish cub wailed aloud as the dwarf and orc made desperate swings towards one another, their only goal to overpower and bring down their foe. After a matter of minutes, the female orc slumped onto one leg, as the pain of her wound became too much to bear. Kiran, though cut across his arm, attempted a clumsy swing into the orc’s skull. Blood splattered across the inside of the hut as the orc fell to the ground, motionless and unbreathing. Kiran gave a heavy gasp of air as he looked down at the corpses and then back towards the orcish cub. In that moment, the guilt of what he had done had overcome him. Before now, he had never before considered the families he would break apart by his actions on the battlefield. Without another thought, he quickly left the hut behind and wandered aimlessly the way he believed he had come from. By luck along, he managed to find the dwarves he had been travelling with, where they again set off to return to the dwarven holdings to the south. From that day on, Kiran came to realise that the war was not so black and white as he had once believed. As his clan moved from land to land, he experienced the same loss that he had inflicted upon the orcish cub. With the death of his father and so many others once close to him, he grew to learn the pain of loss. In a new land, he sought to prove his honour and finally find redemption for what he deemed his greatest of sins. What are they like? (personality): - Kiran is noble and kind to those he meets, though is often cautious when faced with strangers. However, though he is slow to trust others, he is loyal to his own kin, and does his best to resist the temptations that would lead him upon a path towards greed. What are their ambitions?: - Kiran’s greatest wish is to bring honour to his clan’s name and earn himself prestige while fighting for the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. As a veteran of the old orc wars, he wishes to achieve his full potential within the dwarven Legion. Do they have any special skills? What are their weaknesses? (Try to list a few of both): - - Like most mountain dwarves, he is relatively strong and muscular, able to handle himself in a fight relatively well. - He is also skilled in blacksmithing and quite unusually, woodcrafting. He has a particular affinity for designing staves and walking sticks. - Despite his mountain dwarf heritage, he has a strong fear of heights which often acts as a hindrance in his journeys throughout the Fringe. - His short height and stout build often means he struggles when facing an enemy who towers above him. Give us a description of how they look?: - Like all members of his bloodline, Kiran has fiery red hair and a shade of brown eyes. He is relatively tall and muscular for a dwarf, often wearing furs of beasts native to his homeland, reinforced with a coat of chainmail.
