  1. Coding, frankly, is far more challenging and riveting than a mere wiki post that someone may or may not read because they don't know the wiki exists.

    tl;dr

Give Treshure a shot, even one program is suitable to facilitate the stagnant condition of the server.

LOTC’s current map, Vailor, is a vast, yet empty canvas, seeking those who would mark upon it. Its sheer size has lured me to venture past the bounds of Oren or any nation in regard. I’ve scaled every peak, and emerged from every nadir only to realize that this map is wholly lacking custom organics in addition to multiple facets of an immersive environment.

I wish to be one of the painters, to leave my ink upon this titanic map, not only due to my ambition, but for the sake and love of building.

It was only but a year from July had I downloaded Minecraft to my laptop. The first thing that came to mind was my love for RP games, so I’d searched initially for RP servers, only to find this little gem of a server. And I’ve loyally spent about 1400 hours of gameplay ever since.  With the passage of time, I’d discovered the Messy Medieval build server where my passion for building had been refined and redefined. I’ve many customs works that I alone created. In addition, most of those customs builds were for LOTC!

§  Are you an independent builder, and are you capable of handling all aspects of a build?

As a prospective medical student attending university, while studying engineering (it’s relevant…) and engaging in 5-6 projects per week, the one thing I’ve learned wholeheartedly is the effectiveness of team-work.

Similarly, I love building with a group. However, were I asked to build solo; my skills would be no less effective!

§  Do you know much about redstone?

Memory cells, which follow the 0, 1 storage systems.

Essentially, a piston is triggered with some source. This piston however, is wired to an adjacent piston, which remains disabled while one is active. Hence the active piston stores the cell memory of 1, where the other inactive pistons remain 0.

§  How long does it take for you to complete a build?

If it’s an organic build, time frame is generally low, could take a few minutes or a few hours. Terraforming and structural builds can take hours to days to build, in my case.

§  Tell us how you plan on constructing a large build, a medium build, and a small build.

I commit myself to structure before I consider scale. Before I do any build I look for references and attempt to mimic them to the best of my ability. Furthermore, I scale the build once I’ve confirmed that my attempts to mimic them are accurate.

What is then, a large, a medium or a small build? From my perspective, build size is irrelevant; however structural integrity, terrain, meaningful detail and aesthetics are the questions to be answered.

Build size is the ultimate result of the combination of the 4 aforementioned components.

Initially, I first consider the terrain that I am working with, or being requested to create. In order to accurately terraform, I always start with a reference. Once terraformed to scale, I begin by outlining the base of the structure, that is, if it is a man-made structure. Furthermore, cobble is used to outline the rooms, and build up, level, by level. Once the exterior is complete, rooms are divided with walls. Once interior rooms are established décor is added to each room depending on the purpose they serve.

For organic builds I begin from a nucleation point. Or in other words, the most accessible point, which reduces the chance of patterning, or adding redundant details like copy pasted trees or boulders.

The most important aspect of any build, from my perspective, is immersion. This is the last component of a build, which is done by walking through the build to assess how it feels. The player needs to feel the environment; is it cold, does it feel overwhelming, is the scenery ambient, etc. This component of the build is accomplished by first creating the environment; either artificial and/or natural, and then the builder should traverse the environment, as a player would in game. The builder would then correct the build such that the environment gives off the feel that the player is there.

This aspect is visible in the Canopy build linked above.

§  Additional details (Do you know how to Voxel? World Edit? Craftbook? Etc...):

I am aware of some aspects of World edit.

    -         Copy, paste

    -         Floodfill with mask

    -         Creating structures like spheres or cylinder

    -         Replacing blocks

§  Tell me a trick about building (eg: floating torches, custom heads)

World blocks can be used to make ladders appear to be dangling.

Rather than using the generic Gate Sign drop down gate, one can use a Redstone powered portcullis to create a functional gate, which drops down or cranks up mechanically, rather than instantly shutting/rising.

§  Tell me what you want from the ET.

Rather than being an individual who joins the team because they want to enforce their ideas, it is in my interest to display the way that I build, the way that I think, because immersion is the key to a successful RP environment. It is understood that most of the builders on the ET are aware of this; however, it is currently not demonstrated, at least from my perspective. I want the ET to go beyond the casual way of building, the just wing it method. I want to facilitate the development of a truly organized way of building, coupled with the creation of truly immersive environments!

  3. Radu is the of the best and most well rounded builders I've ever met and worked with. Furthermore, Radu taught me several ways to build and I don't think I'd have made ET without having worked with him! This here is a HUGE asset ladies and gents, don't give him up for another cave builder!

    +1 from me!

  4. Staff state that they will enable experimentation followed by feedback for the purpose of optimizing the engine such that it may satisfy the communtiy yet it appears that everyone assumes themself an engineer and develops soft ball assumptions prior to the release of the engine let alone development! Yeah, No!

I use GarageBand, and a MIDI keyboard. Most of these compositions (more are coming) come about from a rhythmic pattern or idea I have in my head, and then I just expand upon it with multiple instruments.

    Thanks a lot for listening!

I'm currently running through all the voice overs, very impressive work!

  7. Don't see the need for shaders, just want to see the thing plain. +1 (also can you do high fantasy buildings? because we do them a lot)

I would take screens of the builds without shaders but the server I generally build on is down at the moment.

Regarding high fantasy, I have very little experience, however I can attempt some high fantasy.

I'll try to build something in high fantasy and post it as soon as possible.

    Thanks.

    IC Name: Craccus

Original Race [n/if not applicable]: Human

    Transformed Form: Darkstalker

Creator [mc name and ic name, n/a if not applicable]: TheIrishBoys: Doldremeus and swgrclan: Dead Lord Nimdravur

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature: The darkstalker is an undead raised by the dark works of wraiths; in the form of an animated corpse. Similar to a lich, the darkstalker is bound, to undeath, by a magical device known as the phylactery. This device binds the soul of the risen and must be sustained with life drained from mortals. In it's essence, the phylactery serves as the stomach of the darkstalker, feeding it the one necessity to remain both psychologically and physically stable. A lack of sustenance would result in insanity and an unquenchable hunger for life, ultimately leading to a zombie like sustenance. Unlike the lich, the dark stalker possess little to no magic ability linked to it's phylactery, instead, the dark stalker possess the ability to wield armor and weapon. In addition, the dark stalker has super human attributes, and a lack of pain perception, making it the ideal soldier. However, they are not without consequence. Although they wield great power, they also carry certain burdens as well, including great weakness against direct contact with sun light, fire and aurum based weaponry.
