Esterlen like his protege Gucko is a skin-walker that takes many forms. Contrary to the lizard theory presented by Boiendl, Maly is infact a skinwalker. He often disguised himself as a friend, and then an enemy, and then perhaps a republican presidential nominee. The purpose of a skinwalker is to infiltrate society and adopt the personalities of its doppelganger, for it seeks only power and cruelty.

Now listen here, Esterlen is indeed a skinwalker, for I myself am Esterlen posing as Zhulik. The conspiracy goes deep, Oblivion, it was always Oren's intent to take over the staff and fill it with bias'd GMs who have no other goal than putting down other players. Zhulik is merely a pawn in my game to become Lord of the Craft, /the/ Lord of the Craft, mind you.

You see, there are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. This is why Oren will always be on top.

Watch yourself, Oblivion, or I will plot against you in a similar manner to when the Savoyards plotted against me via the Taxman Conspiracy.

@Viscen I found an esterlen npc can you fire up the HOIC

What do you mean the food is lost? It gets outright deleted or what? And why do the more expensive box types have an increased "loss" percentage?

Also is there a reason why the recipes requires specific types of wood? Seems completely arbitrary and pointless. Any wood type should work.

I think he meant stores not lose

§  Are you an independent builder, and are you capable of handling all aspects of a build?

As a prospective medical student attending university, while studying engineering (it’s relevant…) and engaging in 5-6 projects per week, the one thing I’ve learned wholeheartedly is the effectiveness of team-work.

Similarly, I love building with a group. However, were I asked to build solo; my skills would be no less effective!

§  Do you know much about redstone?

Memory cells, which follow the 0, 1 storage systems.

Essentially, a piston is triggered with some source. This piston however, is wired to an adjacent piston, which remains disabled while one is active. Hence the active piston stores the cell memory of 1, where the other inactive pistons remain 0.

§  How long does it take for you to complete a build?

If it’s an organic build, time frame is generally low, could take a few minutes or a few hours. Terraforming and structural builds can take hours to days to build, in my case.

§  Tell us how you plan on constructing a large build, a medium build, and a small build.

I commit myself to structure before I consider scale. Before I do any build I look for references and attempt to mimic them to the best of my ability. Furthermore, I scale the build once I’ve confirmed that my attempts to mimic them are accurate.

What is then, a large, a medium or a small build? From my perspective, build size is irrelevant; however structural integrity, terrain, meaningful detail and aesthetics are the questions to be answered.

Build size is the ultimate result of the combination of the 4 aforementioned components.

Initially, I first consider the terrain that I am working with, or being requested to create. In order to accurately terraform, I always start with a reference. Once terraformed to scale, I begin by outlining the base of the structure, that is, if it is a man-made structure. Furthermore, cobble is used to outline the rooms, and build up, level, by level. Once the exterior is complete, rooms are divided with walls. Once interior rooms are established décor is added to each room depending on the purpose they serve.

For organic builds I begin from a nucleation point. Or in other words, the most accessible point, which reduces the chance of patterning, or adding redundant details like copy pasted trees or boulders.

The most important aspect of any build, from my perspective, is immersion. This is the last component of a build, which is done by walking through the build to assess how it feels. The player needs to feel the environment; is it cold, does it feel overwhelming, is the scenery ambient, etc. This component of the build is accomplished by first creating the environment; either artificial and/or natural, and then the builder should traverse the environment, as a player would in game. The builder would then correct the build such that the environment gives off the feel that the player is there.

This aspect is visible in the Canopy build linked above.

§  Additional details (Do you know how to Voxel? World Edit? Craftbook? Etc...):

I am aware of some aspects of World edit.

    -         Copy, paste

    -         Floodfill with mask

    -         Creating structures like spheres or cylinder

    -         Replacing blocks

§  Tell me a trick about building (eg: floating torches, custom heads)

World blocks can be used to make ladders appear to be dangling.

Rather than using the generic Gate Sign drop down gate, one can use a Redstone powered portcullis to create a functional gate, which drops down or cranks up mechanically, rather than instantly shutting/rising.

§  Tell me what you want from the ET.

Rather than being an individual who joins the team because they want to enforce their ideas, it is in my interest to display the way that I build, the way that I think, because immersion is the key to a successful RP environment. It is understood that most of the builders on the ET are aware of this; however, it is currently not demonstrated, at least from my perspective. I want the ET to go beyond the casual way of building, the just wing it method. I want to facilitate the development of a truly organized way of building, coupled with the creation of truly immersive environments!

As of recent, my latest build is the newly built city of Aldersport, in the swamp Blackwald within Oren. There's evidence of terraforming, and structural integrity written all over it.

However I do not take credit for the entire build!

Builders include, gargerad, empereur_, warmetal, enragedpiglet, crazyguy1916, tibertastic and myself.

    Thank you for reading!

  4. Axios is very poorly made, both the terrain and the organics. Much of map looks warped and rushed. Hire a proper map maker like Dark James or someone from PMC. Don't rely solely on ET builders to do builds on the map, there are builders outside the ET that have exceptional building talent. The more the merrier.

And the most importantly, don't release the map during the school year or near the school year like Axios. This is the main reason lotc experienced a huge shunt of activity as soon as summer ended. The best time to release a map is right before summer begins!

    Really?

The legion has (or had, idk) a whole division called CAVALRY Corps.

    *sigh*

Oren has not relied on cavalry for the vast majority of past conflicts, Nathan is simply stating that we do not "need" cavalry hence the restriction is of no harm to the military.

    Otherwise, sick job wolf!

    2. Caves were implemented to increase the "adventure part" of mining. With caves, it's more profitable to search for caves than to strip-mine with star mine pattern.

    3. Lava lakes / rivers were added to prevent automining. If you automine too long, you fall into lava.

Thank you I did not know that! But that does not include the other part of the mining causality I included in my post, so what do you think of that? In regards to ore specific mines, and extra consequences disregarding the ones you've mentioned?

I understand ore specific mines would be a nuisance but what do you think?

Considering that comment, can I ask you to go down and mine at /any/ level now, before commenting on the profession? 10 minutes, it'll take. Although, andesite/granite is still preferred.

It would be easier to just explain it rather than throwing your weight around! Try to conserve your ego kid!

  8. Do take the time to read the whole post, if you have the time before offering criticisms, thanks.

    Gathering Professions:

Breeding: No unique creatures worth breeding. With the hopes of the hunting plugin bringing along the chance of new mobs with unique stats and drops, this may change. Unique drops harvested from these mobs would be of special value to crafting trades. Crafting trades would develop items such that end result products can be made from other trades such as tinkering.

Besides vanilla mobs, there's nothing worth interacting with because custom mobs are restricted to either player model skin based creatures with custom AI or vanilla mobs with customized body parts. If lotc had a graphics artist with great talent, perhaps this could be changed, but I digress.

Breeding is quite redundant because it only relates to the ability to enable mobs to reciprocate, which is quite boring as we know from experience. What if we involve a subclass of breeding that enables players to adventure throughout the realm and discover species that are able to procreate based on the nexus plugin. However with unique requirements or conditions. For example, Hughs, a typical farm hand from Metz travels to the recesses of some forest and finds a special breed of white tailed deer. He then through trial and error learns that they will only breed during Malin's Welcome and rather than having to feed them, he must lure them to a specific biome, or a specific height, or some other clause that would engage in breeding. Redundancy in breeding lies in the fact that we use vanilla items to trigger breeding.

This is of course an idea. Criticize, develop, reiterate, execute.

Lumberjack: This profession is already very advanced, I see no need to change this profession. I wasted so much time lumberjacking from athera to vailor that I reached Illuminated...Regardless the only peeve I developed was that I had to actively chop wood. This profession is simply boring, it is of course necessary, but I cannot think of any solution.

Mining: Introduce a plugin that creates ore veins, and mines that have specific types of ore rather than all ores being available depending on ones level. These ore veins would regenerate based on a timer. Introduce consequences of mining similar to that of lumberjacking. For example, Chris the lumberjack gets attacked by an angry bird. Likewise, Bill the miner is swarmed by bats, or the area above him collapses, or he falls into a dungeon, or a coal mine explodes. Any causality that leads to a negative consequence such that auto miners can't enjoy the luxury of drilling vietcong tunnels. Yea that's right **** you, you know who you are!

Farming: Introduce consequences like mentioned before.

    Crafting Professions: including alchemy

As for the crafting trades I must say I had the luck of finding a server that uses interfaces for trades like smithing and alchemy. Although I will not mention what the server is, I will freely inform any developer who wishes to witness how the interface works in person.

So why is blacksmithing, tinkering and all crafting trades an utter disaster? Because it is a mindless, boorish, zombie like activity that requires no effort. I honestly cannot imagine how @Salvo does it!

My proposition, is an interface unique to each crafting trade that requires the players to input ingrediants, actively and logically engage in a series of movements which would be available on the interface, which would eventually produce a output. In engineering, this is the simplest way to picture it:

    INPUT -> SYSTEM -> OUTPUT

    INPUT: Ingredients

SYSTEM: Series of logical actions that the player must do in order to process the ingredients

    OUTPUT: The end result

This will require crafting trades to rely more heavily on gathering trades, although we're all aware that any one player can have up to several or all professions...

That is another issue! I believe that it is too early to make it such that all players must by some means find and trade with other players. The professions system, the ability to discover who does what and who has what, and the distance one must travel are all issues that would make a single profession and profession to profession dependence system fail.

Imagine being a blacksmith who lives in the outskirts of say, Oren, and being a new player. If this player has no reliable neighbors who would easily trade with them, they'd have to travel to another place or places to find trades. And on top of that there is no guarantee they may have what he seeks.

On the contrary, I have a very good attitude. In the words of Jeb Bush, 'I know what I know, and I know what I don't know'. You may see me as arrogant and self-assured, but the truth is my attitude is one that's never hubristic and one which puts the community first. Community demand is what should be the driving force of lore, and it's the community who should have an integral role in lore's development. I've lambasted the mindless factotums of the staff team before, hence your claim that I have a poor attitude, but it's unlikely my problem has been with any individuals. Yes, I'm harsh and undiplomatic in my speech and mannerisms, because people respond more to an aggressive style than they do some vacillating, inconstant and 'civil' feedback thread.

My philosophy for the way the server should be run is one of as little staff control as possible - this is a server for the players, and it's they who should act as the crux of what the lore team does and the driving force that motivates us, not the bizarre inclinations of various cliqued-up staff bureaucrats. No more mud maidens. No more gender pearls. No more backroom dealings. Speaking of backroom dealings...

And there you go again. No, I didn't. My crime was writing thousands of words and formatting countless documents. Nobody got any benefit except people who valued a comprehensive and nice-looking Wiki.

You said that same melodramatic line to RedBench a year ago. You should get a new slogan.

Get out, Colin, this is just sad! You're like the Debbie Wasserman-Schultz of the staff team, only she had the sense to resign months ago whereas you've stuck around and forced us to just deal with your inveterate corruption. If harassment is speaking out against your lunacy, then yes, I've harassed you a hundred different times. But if your definition of harassment aligns with, you know, the actual dictionary definition:

    b4b0d3d572a6d89c548e3cdb865edcdf.png

Then no, I don't have a history of repeatedly harassing other players. I've said plenty of mean things to others, but I've never harassed them. I'm willing to say I'm ten-times as fit for a staff position as you were, in all honesty - I'm strongly against corruption, hard-line staff authority, back-room dealings, and I'm not a member of the sexually-perverted, cybering 'staff elite' clique who come in and out of staff over the years like a revolving door. I'm an outsider and I have strong principles as to how the staff, including the LT, need to be checked and accountable to the community who they are supposed to represent. Whatever my faults, that's much more than can be said for you, the biggest establishment apparatchik since SupremacyOps (I actually liked Connor as a guy, just not as a staff member - I wonder where he's gone, I miss him!).

To meet the criteria for libel, the written word in question has to actually be false.

Now I understand what mythomaniacal means.
