  2. The county of Falinesti "What do you mean pirates ?" Ulwnis said in a threatening low tone, rubbing his temples as he felt his already quite significant amount of stress he normally already had doubling in less than a minute. The servant spoke softly. "Just as I reported sir, any ships leaving port have been attacked by sea elf pirates. This has neutralized any profit that could be gathered from the port. The other regions of Valenwood as well as Hammerfell, Elsewyr, Cyrodiil and hammerfell. It is a global catastrophe " Ulwnis sighed at this and turned to look out of the window. He swore he could hear the screams of his wife as she bore his children. He did not care much for her except the strategic benefits she gave. She was a young woman and as he found out in bed had quite a bit of endurance. But he did not feel any particular feeling of 'love' for her. She was just another tool to get what he wants. But he did keep up an appearance of love and affection to her. It would not do to let his true ambitious and uncaring nature slip to the public. So he would need to keep up appearances and make sure that it seemed like he was constantly busy with the affairs of state. Though to be honest he was busy with that almost all the time. He rubbed his chin as he contemplated what to do, he wanted to get a strong economy and more trade. For this purpose he could do more inland trade but he had a feeling that if he did not deal with this problem soon it would grow to bite him in the ass. The easiest solution was to try and gain as much people as possible to aid him in his venture. He knew that he was not the only one whose trade was threatened by this and any help he could get with this would go a long way to stabilize the situation. But what should he personally do, he did not want to put all of his annual budget into shipbuilding but clearly there was a great need for more ships to deal with these pirates. He then turned to his personal messenger and said. "Send a message to all the lords of Valenwood, Cyrodill and Hammerfall which border the sea. Tell them that Lord Protector Ulwnis Nightshade, count of Falinesti calls for a gathering to discuss how to deal with these pirates and the threat they will pose to us. Furthermore send message for increased patrols along the coast to spot any approaching threats and make sure our villages do not get sacked by these pirates understood." The messenger nodded at this and took Ulwnis's silence as a queen to leave which it was in all honesty. Ulwnis then began to write in his diary, which also doubled as a notebook. It also held many of the notes he used to analyze certain situations and helped make a proper assessment of any minor or major crisis he needed to deal with. In this case it was the new sea pirates. He also made a quick rough drawing of the map of Tamriel and analyzed the map as well as the places hit. He marked the coastal areas that were hit with a red line and observed the map. He saw that the areas that were hit were quite far spread out, indicating that the sea pirates had either a lot of minor bases and a main base or was more of a loose confederation of pirates. Each having an area in which their own fleet operated with their own bases. He found the latter the most likely option and put orange dots on locations where he expected the pirate bases to be. He was almost 100% sure that souther Valenwood was raided from one of the minor island chains to the south. Whilst the western coast of Valenwood, Cyrodiil and the coast of Hammerfel was raided from four possible bases. Now that he knew the possible location he needed to find a way to deal with the pirates in naval combat. This would be the hardest part as this whole conflict relied on naval supremacy. After some mental calculation Ulwnis thought that if he managed to build a trade outpost this year he could get a large increase in budget after two years if next year he built a trade post he could increase his budget by a large amount and could get inland trade with the other states of Valenwood or some from Cyrodiil if they would not accept. Ulwnis's thoughts were then interrupted. When he saw a woman enter his room. He knew that this was one of the women who had the task to help deliver his wife's child. He got a cold feeling as he saw that she had tears on her face. "My lord I got bad news." She said in between sobs "During her attempt to put a child on this world your wife died due to unknown causes. We attempted to try and see if we could try to extract the baby in another way but when your wife died she died with it. You are now a widow sir." Ulwnis blankly looked out, phasing out of existence for a moment before saying "Leave now !" Which the midwife quickly did. After she closed the door Ulwnis screamed in frustration. The women how dare she die during childbirth. He would have needed her for his plan to annex Arenthia. Well she wouldn't have needed to be alive but she would have at least needed to deliver a child onto the world. Now he had no heir and one of his plans were ruined. Arkay was cruel, he had taken only death and had given no life in return. But it was no problem, his plans would recover. He would eventually get what he wanted, sea pirates or women who could not even give birth wouldn't stop his destiny. If worst came to worst and he couldn't get a child at all he could just adopt one eventually Actions 11ap goes into building a Trading post. 0 ap goes to sending the body of Ulwnis's wife who died in childbirth (due to bad rolls) back to her family. 0 ap is spent calling for a gathering of at least all of the lords and ladies of Valenwood who have territories on the coast as well as those of Hammerfall and Cyrodiil if they were willing. 3. The county of Falinesti Ulwnis couldn't help but have a large smile on his face as he looked over the reports he had gotten and the view he had from the elevated position of his keep. They said it couldn't be done did they. Well look who was laughing now. They were calling it the greatest feat of construction in the Valenwood and his neighbors were in awe in what had been achieved until now. Well if they were in awe now than he really wanted to know how they would look when Falinesti became the richest region in all of Valenwood. He wondered if he asked them for trade agreements if they would refuse now. If they had seen the growth of Falinesti to this point already than he did not doubt that they wanted to benefit of it too. Ulwnis did get a small frown however when he got a report about the literacy rate of his people. It seemed that about 68% of his population were literate as of right now. About 18% higher than that of the other states of Valenwood. But still not good enough in the mind of Ulwnis. The average region of Cyrodiil and High rock was still more literate than his state but that was not the intended goal that Ulwnis had. He wanted to make sure that each and every one of his citizens could manage to read. He would make sure that his people were the most well educated in all the land and from that knowledge he would create great tools that would aid him in his pursuit of becoming the greatest state of Valenwood first and later the sole remaining state in Valenwood. It also helped that his history and culture classes would make sure that he had a great source of loyal soldiers and agents to draw from when the time was right. For now he would seem like a peaceful ruler to the fellow lords and ladies of Valenwood. Seeming to be another friendly bosmer. But in time all of them would kneel at his feet. Ulwnis then made his way towards his throne room where the great hall was normally mostly empty except for a few people it was now almost filled to the brinks. The wooden halls and stone floor hosting a great number of his servants. Mostly Bosmer but also a few Altmer as their numbers in the county had increased due to the refugee crisis. He eventually stood in front of his throne and looked at the people. Closest to him were his advisors and key personnel who did the minor tasks of ruling the county for him. Whilst he focused on the major issues they went about implementing it as good as people. After that there were his soldiers, keeping back the greatest mass that consisted of the normal citizen. Enthusiastic with the current progress the lord had made. As he stood in front of his throne he raised his hand to ask for silence and an enthusiastic silence was given to him. Only broken by a few quit whispers. "My people. On this day we are gathered on the eve of the success of a project that many said was impossible but see what has happened. In the eve of two years I have managed to rebuild our city and our pride. We are now the jewel of Valenwood but is that enough. No it isn't. The only limits we have are the limits we put on ourselves. I will not allow that we put any restraint to ourselves. I expect that each and every one of you works to your greatest potential. If you are a baker bake your bread to perfection so that your neighbors will be fed and made strong. If you are a stone mason build this great city to it's fullest potential and create houses for our people to live and prosper in. And if you are a teacher teach the children to the best of your potential. Make them reach their greatest potential. Each and every one of you performs a vital task to our great nation. Now with the gifts that I have given our people and will continue to give I do not want you to ask. 'what can Falinesti give me' no I want you to think 'what can I give Falinesti'. I expect the most of each and every one of you, live long and prosper." Ulwnis then sat down enjoying the sounds of applause and enthusiasm. Having a great smile on his face of benevolence and kindness. But behind that face was another face. One of maliciousness, greed and ambition. To him all of the people before him were mere tools for his enjoyment and to achieve his goals. In the end all that was done was for his benefit and he would establish a dynasty and nation that would last for a thousand years. All would see his glory and he would be remembered in history as the greatest bosmer, no the greatest man that ever lived. The intended goal is to make sure that everyone in the county will become literate and thus hopefully resulting in a larger amount of skilled workers in the future. It is expected that lord protector Ulwnis's approval rating amongst children will plummet immensely as it now becomes law for all children of six or seven years old attendance at school will become mandatory. 4. The county of Falinesti Stab right, stab left, dodge backwards, being upwards strike pierce through the middle. These were Ulwnis's thoughts as he fought against the master of arms of Falinesti. Ulwnis relished these moments. The moments where he did not have to think about administration, politics and fulfilling the wishes of the masses but just fighting against a worthy opponent in a duel. He had come to the throne of Falinesti as a military man and he made sure to remain fit to combat any possible rebels who would try to gain the position he had rightfully earned. He and his master of arms were as of right now in a bit of a stalemate. Neither being able to gain the upper hand and fighting a battle of attrition. After about a 15 minutes Ulwnis just for a second slipped his guard up but for two warriors one second was enough to mean defeat. And the master of arms indeed took the opportunity and managed to hold his wooden sword at Ulwnis's neck. Both men were breathing heavily and after a moment it was silent before Ulwnis laughed and shook the hand of his master at arms. "Well Damon that was a good match. I haven't enjoyed myself like that for some time so thank you for that, but now I have to return to the duty that is ruling this county." Damon would nod at this "It was a pleasure to have you practice and make me put in a bit of effort in a fight my lord. I'll just continue instilling some discipline in these maggots, much luck with ruling my lord." To this Ulwnis chuckled for a moment before saying "You also have much luck with these recruits Damon. And try not to be to harsh on them, we need them disciplined not broken" Ulwnis then made his way towards his throne hall though he could swear he could hear someone laughing as he left to his chambers. Ulwnis then quickly changed into his more formal clothing before making his way towards the throne hall. There he was greeted by a small gathering of men in decent clothes. He knew that these were the foremen of the construction projects who wanted to speak to him about the progress that had been made with the construction of the city. Ulwnis moved to go and sit on top of his throne and waited in silence for the foremen to start speaking. He enjoyed watching them squirm nervously as none had the courage to go first, though he did not let any of that show on his face. Eventually one of the foremen spoke up. "My lord we have come with news about progress with the construction project." The foreman would then scrape his throat before seeming to say a mental list. "This year we have managed to finish the outer tier of the city. It is fully completed and we have started construction of the middle tier of the city." Ulwnis nodded at this. He had expected about that much considering that it was indeed a truly ambitious project. He then frowned as the foreman had grown silent and was nervously fiddling a bit with his clothing. He then said in a slightly annoyed tone. "and is there something else that bothers you foreman ?" After this the foreman spoke up getting a little bit of courage whilst also speaking extremely nervously. "Well we have discussed the issue and we do not think that the city plan that you have is not going to be completed. The project is simply too large in scale for the resources we have available to us and whilst we think it can partially be completed we are not sure if we can ever manage to fully complete it" Hearing this Ulwnis would start to get annoyed. His fist would be clenched in annoyance and he would speak in a threatening low tone. "If I say the project can be completed then it will be completed. If someone else says it can not be completed ignore them because you listen to ME. Now in the coming years you will continue your....... work and even if it will continue for 10 more this project will be completed. Understood foreman." Ulwnis said making sure that the foremen felt fear. After hearing this short speech the foreman nodded nervously. "It will be done my lord" "Then begone" Ulwnis said dismissing the foremen. After this command they left quickly and when Ulwnis knew he was alone he would facepalm and muttered. "I am surrounded by idiots." Actions Those silly experts say it can not be done mhm ? 5. The county of Falinesti Ulwnis sat on his throne, rubbing his chin as he contemplated the news he had gotten. It seemed that the woodlands realms of Arenthia, Greenheart and Elden root seen it fit to trade with Falinesti. That was most advantageous but not as interesting as the offer he had gained from Southpoint. An alliance, of all things he had not expected this but it could serve his goals well. Maybe he could marry with the royal family of Southpoint or Arenthia. Getting a royal marriage would cement his alliance with Southpoint better but if he could marry into Arenthia's family, get a child and then assassinate all other remaining family members and put the blame on someone else and appoint himself as his child's regent then he would automatically get almost direct control of two major territories and still have a good ally remaining. Yes this plan could be quite effective if he got a good order of assassins. Which is something on the agenda but not for now as they would not prove as cost effective as he would personally hope. Deep in thought Ulwnis did not initially notice the messenger entering his throne room before he announced his presence and got Ulwnis to look up. "My lord, I got the reports you asked for" Ulwnis then waved away the messenger, indicating him to leave the reports behind and the messenger boy then quickly left the room. Ulwnis then picked up the reports the messenger had left behind and read the census reports. It seemed that there had been quite a significant amount of growth this year. At least his dunderhead underlings knew how to **** each other. Ulwnis snorted at this thought before focusing on the numbers and contemplating the actual benefits of a larger population. It would help resettle the lands that had been lost in the great collapse but they did not give much in the way of actual materials as of yet. Though Ulwnis thought to himself, they could provide more taxes if they grow more prosperous. And public works often resulted in an increase in prosperity. For a moment Ulwnis also thought if he should educate his underlings. Their idiocy could get quite annoying at times and it wouldn't hurt to have one of his underlings actually know where Southpoint was located and how to get to it. It would also mean that his people could become richer, it would mean that the people could have jobs which were more of secondary or tertiary purpose. These jobs would inevitably generate more income and be more taxable thus increasing the income of his realm further. He could even make them loyal by teaching them to be loyal to him from a young age. It would mean he would have a loyal core of soldiers, agents and citizens in a few years. Yes he could wait for a few years because Ulwnis was a patient man. He would wait patiently to see his realm flourish and prosper, he would build alliances, marry families and see them die and their lands go to him. And he would see all the other lords of the woodland realm fall in time as he was patient. He would see them fall with only him remaining and in the future he would rule all of Valenwood. Ulwnis then allowed himself a malicious smile as he did his part in making his plans come to fruition Actions 5 ap is spent rebuilding the city of Falinesti in a certain way. The city would be built with such a design in mind so that it is divided into three rings you could say. The outer ring would consist of building only one story tall. These building would be next to the city walls and would continue on towards the keep until the hit the middle tier. This consists of building which are two stories tall and after that comes the inner ring which is the smallest one for now and has buildings of 3 stories high. Furthermore a web like pattern is made for the streets connecting the city. This is to do this so as to make Falinesti quite a stronghold. The houses would need to have their roofs accessible and mostly with flat roofs. The goal is that archers could climb on top of the houses and fire through enemies marching through the streets. If the outer tier of houses is taken more elite archers would fire from the middle ring and if the middle tier falls the same would go for the inner tier. The web pattern would make sure that the city was organized and that the streets could easily be blocked off by basic defenses like carts and other simple barriers. Still the defense part of rebuilding the city would be secondary compared to simply rebuilding or renovating the city so that it would be more prosperous. A.K.A. the 5 ap would go into economy. 4ap is spent starting the construction of the schools. The goal would be to make sure that everyone could get a 6 year education starting at age 6 or 7. They would learn classes about reading, counting and the other classes which would give them the knowledge necessary to aid them in their future work. Another class that will be implemented is indoctrination/propaganda *COUGH COUGH* I mean history and culture, it will 'teach' the children about the history of the world and the culture of the local people and the glorious future of Falinesti and the lord protector. Still the main focus is on real education and indoctrination second. 0ap is spent accepting the offer of Southpoint and lord protector Ulwnis offers to have the alliance be mostly defensive for now but offensive too if the lord or lady of Southpoint wants to take it further. 6. The county of Falinesti Ulwnis looked down at the city of Falinesti from his elevated position on the balcony of the small keep that was put on the highest point in the city. Below him he could see sprawled before him the meager borders of the city. Ulwnis scowled at the sight. Most of the buildings were only about one story high and much of what remained were buildings either renovated after the great collapse or built anew of destroyed and empty buildings. All in all it was a disorganized mess and Ulwnis intended to change that. He would make sure that such a pathetic city would not be the capital of the greatness he would create. As such at some point he would need to rebuild it entirely. Make it organized, structured and defensible. He already had dozens of ideas in mind how to best achieve his goals but he knew that most of them required a lot of materials and manpower. Manpower and materials he could use for something far more effective, farming. Farming was the lifeblood of any people, nation or tribe. It provided a safe and stable way of providing food for any gathering of men and women. He knew that many others if they were in his position would simply build more farms. But Ulwnis found this approach less efficient than he would like. What use is it giving someone land if they can not do it efficiently. Efficiency was the core principle philosophy in Ulwnis's philosophy and he could not mentally or emotionally allow himself to have some inefficient farm waste the space which would be given to the farmers. Furthermore getting better tools would allow larger farms which could be run more efficiently. 'Yes' Ulwnis though to himself 'better farming equipment and methods would indeed prove quite efficient in the future. Quite a bit more effective than restructuring and building the city at this point in time' with these new thoughts in his minds Ulwnis would make his way towards his personal chambers. Here he would plan and document his plans for the agricultural improvement with orders which were so simple that most of his dunderhead inferiors and minions could understand what he wanted them to do. Still he would need to leave as few possible options to sentient error as possible. Thus he worked into the night with a small candlelight lighting his rooms as he dreamt of the distant future and the future that was closer by. Actions 6 ap is spent making sure the craftsmen, inventors and farmers of Falinesti put their money where their mouth is. (a.k.a. make them busy) they are given the task to create better tools for farming and create better methods. The hope is that with this farming can become more efficient per square mile so eventually Falinesti will use it's fertile land as good as possible. These hoped for improvements of already existing tools or new invention are hoped to make both crop farming more effective and to learn how to use the crap of livestock as a better way to grow plants. 0 ap is spent sending diplomats to all remaining nations in Valenwood to come to terms about a trade agreement. 7. Agerian Commonwealth The first rays of the morning light hit the capital of the commonwealth at 6am. And the rays of the sun went through a window into the many buildings of Novam Domum. One of these rays hit the face of Christoff Ulman. Shortly after the light of the sun had first hit his face Christoff started to wake up with a yawn. Then he would stretch himself and step out of his bed. Christoff was a second generation citizen of the commonwealth. His grandfather had been born on earth but both his father and himself hadn't been. His grandfather originally came from Germany, he had been a high-ranking employee in the Varellion corporation. When the sun started to expand he was one of the few who had managed to get on one of the ships with jump drives installed on them. Thus he managed to survive the destruction of earth and he settled on Novam Domum. Then after several years he got a son, which he named Heinrich and then Heinrich got a son, him. During the years his Grandfather Hans had instilled into his father still a bit of his German identity which resulted in his family still having German names. Christoff furthermore had one brother and a sister. But now he lived in his own as he had recently finished his education at the biological university of Novam Domum. He finished his education with the top marks of his class and was as such able to get a job in the biological research department of the government immediately after getting the results of his exam. There he subsequently worked on project Geminos and had just a month ago been tasked with doing a viability study for project Cerberus. It was still ongoing but it seemed to hold a lot of promise. A lot of promise but also a lot of costs, and with the current government budget neither Geminos nor Cerberus would make any significant progress in the near future. Still he knew that one day in the future both projects would make huge progress. Christoff then walked through the door of his bedroom into his kitchen/living room. Here he almost automatically put the tv on with the news and prepared some breakfast with coffee. When he had finished both of these things he saw that the news started right on time and started absentmindedly eating his bread with meat and butter whilst thinking about possible ways to improve his viability study when he perked up to the news as he noticed a pretty major development and raised his eyebrows in surprise. "And today the first ever xeno immigrants have immigrated into the commonwealth. These immigrants consisted only of Karras and Redons citizens. The speculated reason for their immigration has been the official vassalship status of the commonwealth to the Redon Imperium as well as the growing economic opportunity in the commonwealth. With the first real wave of immigrants coming to the commonwealth the government has issued an expansion of the Commonwealth Intelligence Services so as to successfully screen any new immigrants both human or xeno better. " Christoff supposed it could be a bit xenophobic to intensify screening because of alien immigrants but he also supposed it was realistic. Considering they could be more likely to be spies, though the news that followed up would explain a bit more about why the Intelligence service was expanding. "But with these new immigrants arriving in the commonwealth there are a large amount of disgruntled people. They believe in the policy of the former government about not fully trusting xenos and taking it one step further by actively opposing non-human people. The Intelligence service will thus closely monitor the situation with the new immigrants." There was then some other article about animals or some business or something but then there was against some interesting news "Today and yesterday there have been several demonstrations on Badab Primaris, Pelene and Novam Domum. These demonstrations are led by disgruntled men and women from the former colonial militia who say that the former IRM failed in doing what they promised. Which if you may not know is the protection against the Kalronians they call for a secession of the Colonial militia from the commonwealth. The movement has few supporters as of right now but it is unknown if they will grow more influential. Now to the Novam Domum weather broadcast, Chad how will the weather be in the coming days. " After that followed some news about the weather, nothing really interesting. By then Christof had finished his breakfast. He then put on his workplace clothing, did his hair and got into the train to the university where much of his research happened. It was about 10 km out of the city so only a 5 minute trip until he arrived there. As he sat in the train he could not help but see the many construction works going on in the city sponsored by the government. A lot of things were changing on Novam Domum, even the local mall was being renewed so as to look a lot fancier and be more effective. And he heard they would get a baker who sold fresh bread ware, quite nice if he could say so himself. Actions UNLIMITED AP !!!!! *cough* I mean 50 ap is put into the development of business on Novam Domum. This investment has the goal to massively increase almost all aspects of the planet so that it can become a true metropolis of the galaxy. The money for this project would be put into public transportation, the sponsoring of shops and small businesses. The building of entirely new districts or renovating them with the pinnacle of technology available to the commonwealth. Furthermore technologies are developed to further aid in this massive economic boon. This on top of many more measures so that Novam Domum can become the jewel of the commonwealth. A shining example of what all of humanity can achieve if they put their mind on it. Or as you could say a beacon of humanity 6ap is spent on further improving the counter-intelligence services of the commonwealth. With the increase of immigrants and a small amount of paranoia from Chancellor Hotchen he has deemed the CIS (Commonwealth Intelligence services) to be given a large boost. (ap invested already: 8ap) 3ap is spent creating a military academy on the world of Cadia. The second world to be colonized by the then imperial republic of mankind consisting mostly of Savannes and mountains. The facility would be located in the mountainous region as it had been deemed the most fitting location. For help with this project the commonwealth contacts the newly immigrated Redons or if there are no fitting candidates people from the Redon Imperium to help drill the soldiers of the commonwealth. Or more specifically the target group are retired soldiers who had either were too old for service or had lost the capacity to function on the battlefield in other ways to serve as drill instructors. 0ap, a person in the department of census would be given a very stern talk and would be put down for promotion after his huge failure in xeno population census. Especially the one where he says there are still Kalronians on Novam Domum and other planets whilst they had been moved to Edonia together with the rest of the salvaged Kalronian fleet. 8. Agerian Commonwealth Julius Hotchen watched with slight annoyance as he looked around the room to the gathered representatives of the people in the senate building. During the past regime it had been used mostly as a symbolical institution, the senate chosen by the people who only served as a checks and balances for a ruler with near unlimited judicial, legislative and executive power. The results of this type of government had become clear as the rulers who had this power seemed to not be skilled enough to lead a nation during wartime which had only resulted in subsequent continuous defeats at the hands of their enemies thus each time losing significant military resources. After their occupations under the Kalronian Ystor and their now subsequent official vassalage under the Redon Imperium it was decided that a more democratic approach would be needed if they wanted the now christened commonwealth to be more successful than their predecessor. Thus after looking at his mechanical watch and seeing that it signified that it was now 2PM touched the button that activated his microphone and he said in a loud but controlled tone. "Silence inside the parliament" Once his voice was heard the conversation between the various representatives quieted down as they listened to what the newly assigned Halron of the commonwealth. Who had been elected to go as representative to the Redon to become the de-facto governor of the commonwealth. "I have returned from my trip to his majesty the Redon and have agreed to what terms of vassalage we shall have." Hearing the word 'vassalage' a large part of the assembly frowned as they were not entirely comfortable with their new status but accepted it. "The news I bring is good. Essentially we get to maintain a near total independence. We can continue whatever research we want. " Though the unspoken words of 'except Xylorite missieles were clearly felt by the assembled representatives "Furthermore, we won't have to worry about a Redon garrison on our world and we will not have to give any type of taxation to the Redon. However when the Redon calls we will need to assist them in any way we can. Even if that includes those of our own race" The last part was sad with sadness in his voice and some muttered unpleasantly about this but most accepted that it might be needed and that the terms they had now were extremely favorable and better than they could have imagined. "Now it is time to allocate the government budget of this year to several tasks. Some of the proposed ones are:" Lucius would then scrape his throat "Continue project Geminos, Improve our industrial capacity, scout our territory for resources, expand our shipyard, expand our fleet , continue development of Mark II power armor and finally expand our ground forces and finally continue project Geminos. " "To start the discussion of Commander Dante may have the chamber " An older looking man would then activate his own speaker to the chamber and would speak in a gruff tone. "As Halron Hotchen told us we are almost entirely autonomous from the Redon Imperium except for needing to aid them when the time comes. To do this we will need a fleet and army so that when the time is right we will be ready to assist them when needed. To this end I propose tripling our armed forces as we have a large amount of manpower reserves and only a small professional army. Furthermore we should increase production of proper equipment for them so that our army may remain properly armed." Once the commander had finished his proposal though an objection button was hit for the unofficial opposition of Commander Dante's militarist faction. Soon representative Smith would speak. "Representatives of the people. Today we are gathered to speak about our national budget. The esteemed Commander Dante would propose that we increase our military capabilities and whilst I do not disagree with him I do disagree on when we should enact these measures. As of right now we have been given the opportunity to expand our economy. If we simply put all of our spending into military this year we will be better prepared yes but we will not excel. By increasing our economic and industrial output we can produce more ships, equipment and do military research at a later point in time. Which is why I propose that we first scan our territory for resources that we can exploit for the prosperity of our people and increase our industrial capacity " What followed was a debate over which measures would or would not be enacted and to what extent. In general the Liberal party under representative Smith had the upper hand and would enact most of their own measures. Though under pressure of Commander Dante the total number of soldiers in the army would be doubled. 9. Provisional government Location: Novam Domum It was a seemingly normal day on Novam Domum for Jack. Jack was a simple man, he was not some cowardly politician or some foolish bureaucrat he was a soldier. Or at least he was a soldier before the Kalronians arrived. He and some of his other compatriots had been posted on some of the outer edges of Novam Domum, protecting one of it's research remote facilities from any possible threats. Unluckily for him it meant that they were too far away to reach the numerous military and civilian transports which had left Novam Domum to escape the clutches of the Kalronians. And so he remained stuck on the ground when he heard the surrender of the coward Horus Varellion and because of the oath the military swore to the emperor was forced to obey his orders. Thus when the Kalronians arrived he grudgingly submitted his gun to them and was then put in a temporary detention center. After a few hours in there he was released but he could no longer be a soldier as no human was allowed to have a gun anymore. Thus he joined the agricultural corps which was rapidly expanding because of Kalronian investment and demand for food. Since then he was forced to watch the xenos as they walked around like they owned the place and were superior to them. Which at the moment of course was true. Surprisingly for him it seemed the Kalronians were not that oppressive. They mostly let the humans mind their own business as long as they did the work for them. That made the situation better at least but it did not help the wroth he held inside of him and flared whenever he saw a Kalronian walking through the streets. As Jack passed a corner he could see one of the bunker entrances at Novam Domum and saw a squadron of about 8 Kalronian guards standing there. They seemed to be talking to each other and had a scowl on what Jack thought were their faces but he was not entirely sure. But they seemed to constantly be on guard and would push away or fire warning shots at any human who came to near to them. Then Jack saw something truly unique happened. One second the Kalronians were standing there as if nothing was going on and then their form started to slump. Suddenly without any previous inclination or sign the Kalronians simply fell down. And for a moment disbelief filled Jack's mind as he saw all the Kalronians simply fall down seemingly death. At first he was frozen in shock. Believing this to simply be a figment of his imagination. A dream or something else of the like since this was simply not possible in the rational universe they existed in. But as a few seconds passed and he pinched himself in the flesh he realized this was not a dream. This was reality. Then Jack walked slowly towards the Kalronians before freezing yet again. If they died so suddenly it must have been because of some sort of disease, maybe it was also infectious to humans. As such he slowly backed away before noticing another Kalronian slumped across the roof. So he realized that if it was infectious to humans this sickness, weapon or whatever it was was not deadly to humans. So he approached the corpses of the dead Kalronians and picked up one of their guns. Then his military experience took a hold of him and he picked up ammunition for the Kalronian phasic rifle which was somewhat uncomfortable as it was not built with anything else than Kalronians in mind but it could be used by him. Then he went into the bunker and identified that he would need to go to the command center of this defensive sector in the bunker to help gain control of the situation which would inevitably follow something like this with all the Kalronians dying. As such he made his way through the brightly lit corridors of the bunker. It was eerily silent and as he walked through it he noticed the numerous forms of Kalronian corpses laying on the ground. He slowly but surely made his way towards the command center, not being sure if any Kalronians had survived the sudden death button which had been pushed. This was lucky for him since as he approached the end of the corridor and could look into the command center through an open door saw that there was a single Kalronian standing there, frozen in confusion to what had happened to his xeno friends. Then the former military man went on one knee and aimed at the creature. He would have preferred having some cover but the bunkers were designed so an attacker had no possible cover. Then he looked down the end of the rifle, aimed at the Kalronian. Then the Kalronian looked briefly towards the direction of Jack and was just silent as he saw the human who had a rifle aimed at him. Jack then pulled the trigger and a number of phasic bolts shot out of the rifle towards the Kalronian. Before the Kalronian died Jack saw a flash of sadness, grief but also relief in his eyes as he would join his friends in wherever they were. Then the Kalronian fell on the ground, death. Jack then methodically like a machine made his way towards one of the computers in the command center and observed the situation as dozens of reports were made around all of occupied space and helped organize a small number of the reports and got a rough outlook of what happened. It seemed all Kalronians had died and now a new opportunity had been created. 10. Occupied human provinces Location: Novam Domum, Imperial war room. Horus Varellion sighed sadly as he finished his transmission to the Kalronian Ystor offering surrender to the Kalronian Ystor. Behind him he could feel the angry glares of his people or the sad acceptance that there was no other choice drilling into his back. As he turned around and met the glares or acceptant attitudes of the people Horus did what he knew was his last speech. "People of the Imperial provinces, I did not offer our surrender to the Kalronians so I can live long and benefit from the rule of the Kalronians. I did this for my people not for myself. I could have always fought on, offered a valiant last stand, made our names known for all eternity but that is not what a true leader does. A true leader cares for the welfare for his people, so they can live and prosper. We may not prosper in these years but at least we will live. I refuse to let Novam Domum and the other planets of Imperial space turn into a new ultima Thule. A monument to a valiant last stand by a people but with all that remains only being a lifeless world, a graveyard of thousands. For this act I will go into history as a coward but a good leader learns that it does not matter how they are remembered, but what their legacy is. My legacy is the survival of my people, even if it will come at the cost of my own." Then an angry commander Dante spoke "Be that as it may we can better continue fighting the Kalronians, even if it is a long war with much attrition it is much preferable to the oppression of an alien overlord. Sir destroy your honor and just fight this war with the Kalronians. We as human beings deserve the right to live free of oppression, we can not let ourselves be bullied and become slaves." Horus smiled sadly, a resigned smile with acceptance in it, acceptance of his coming fate. "I will not break the offer Dante, and there is not much you can do to change it." Dante then quickly drew his gun and put it to the head of Horus "I care to disagree, Varellion." He would say with much hostility in his voice but with a quivering finger on his gun. He had fought Corrupters on the battlefield and taken part in countless military operations but he could not simply kill his countrymen and boss. He knew he intended well but they could not simply surrender. "Dante, I have failed you and our people, my family was not meant to lead this country into war. I hope you can do what I can not, make our people survive and make them free." Then resigning himself to his fate Horus puts his hand on the hand where Dante held the gun to his head. Held it in comfort for a moment as commander Dante shook with indecisiveness he pulled the trigger of Dante's gun. And then as Horus pulled the trigger his life flashed past him. All the good moment and all the bad, all the mistakes he had made. All the people he could have saved and all those who died because of him. All his friends, all his enemies, humanity shattered because of his actions, how could he have failed so much. Then the bullet went through his skill, into his brain and out the other side. The last Varellion was dead. 11. Imperial provinces Location: Novam Domum, Fortified sector B6 Horus Varellion looked down at the rubble that was spread around what used to be one of the main sites of defense around Novam Domum. Here one of the Karras defense cannons had stood before it was bombarded from a distance by a Replicant battleship. Now it was merely a pile of rubble. It was laughable what the Cannons had done. They had at best only been a delaying action. Who knows what would have happened had the Replicants not suddenly been withdrawn in the heat of battle. Luckily the damage was only focused on military areas. All civilians had been secured and only a few of the cannon operators and soldiers in various sectors had lost their life. Luckily a small minority and the majority of the gear of the soldiers had been recovered and repaired. Yet the fact how little had or could be done plagued Horus's mind. He realized they had not been prepared enough. These defenses had been outdated and had not been built considering battleships. The same with the Karras defense cannons, they were simply not up for the task they had if they were simply outranged by the battleships of any faction. Something needed to change or the second invasion of Novam Domum would not be so (relatively) bloodless as the one that was here only just recently. Luckily he had managed to strike a deal with LSAA to at least get a large amount of fighters and bombers of excellent quality for a good price. Horus then thought back of the tales he had once heard of the moon base on Novam Domum. First the initial encounter in which almost four squads of soldiers and researchers were lost and in the second in which the quantity of the death had been much higher. And if the reports were correct these were the same creatures the galaxy had just fought last year. It made the story of the moonbase all the more intriguing looking back at it. Still it was funny how a problem that had ailed them previously had now once again come but in a much more dangerous form, greater than any of the Imperials could have imagined. Then his thoughts went to the recent human coalition and the the so called Axis of Evil. The Darkul, the Keerim and finally the Kalronian Ystor, a combination that could previously only happened in one's deepest nightmares. Yet this nightmare has become a reality. Now this new threat occupied the galaxy and it's nations whilst a new or old threat has arisen, of unknown proportions. Were the axis of evil somehow manipulated by the replicants, did they just see opportunity or was it completely unrelated to the new Replicant attacks. That is unknown and it is the question if it will be ever found out. Meanwhilst stories of a white suited man were growing to become more common, Horus just like his father had suspicions of such a man. Reports seemed to continue as the white suited man appeared in several places mysteriously often creating suspicious breakthroughs in significant technologies. But back to the topic, Horus scolded himself mentally. The new arrivals on Novam Domum had caused quite a bit of unrest amongst the civilian population. With the previous propaganda depicting the Han as evil being and our enemies this move does not sit well with the general populace. Though Horus had tried to move the Han encampment from civilian areas and the media extremely limited on the subject, merely allowing the fact to be used as a footnote in the news and other media outlets restricted from reporting on it, so as to make the unrest less common. Yet several times Imperial soldiers had to stop angry protestors from approaching the Han encampment and there had been several organized protests against their presence. This caused quite a lot of headaches for Horus himself but some sacrifice would be needed on his parts to make sure humanity was safer in this dark age. Even if he himself did not like the positioning of the Han and even if he was by extension blamed for the recent positioning of the Han on Novam Domum. Horus then gathered himself, after seemingly looking of into the distance for a minute or two. It was time to go back to the palace, do meetings and do the paperwork in order to transfer the money to LSAA and work on project Artemis and to build and repair the defenses around Novam Domum. 12. Imperial Provinces Location: Novam Domum, Imperial office Horus Varellion emperor of the Imperial provinces looked out from the window of his office with a frown. From his position he could see most of the capital city of Novam Domum spread out before him yet this did not ease that what was on his mind and rather reinforced what he was thinking. Horus was thinking on the legacy he and his father had created and how much better he or his father could have made the Imperial Provinces. There were so much mistakes by their dynasty that could have been avoided in hindsight. The attack of Laandalir Triat, the fall of THC and what he was debating whether or not he should have accepted the offer of the Han and simply remained silent not telling anyone of what had happened. These were all issues that plagued his mind now and for years to come. As he was looking out of the window Admiral Winters came in, a man born in the earliest days of the IRM and commander over the Imperial fleet, though that hadn't seen much combat and that combat that it had seen had only resulted in the total destruction of the fleet. Soon after entering the admiral spoke "Sir, I wish to speak with you about a certain issue." Hearing this Horus turned to the admiral and motioned towards one of the seats at a table in his office. "Take a seat." Both men then sat down at the table both looking at each other intently remaining silent for a minute before Admiral Winters started the conversation. "Sir I feel like we should expand the fleet massively ." To this Horus raised an eyebrow and interested in the reasoning the admiral had asked "Why would you feel that way, I know our fleet is not in the best state but isn't it an issue for a later date." "In contrast sir, of all times a fleet is now what we need the most, tensions are rising, the Saryn guardians are fighting in the west harassing trade whilst the Redon army prepares itself for combat, even more so than usual, and the Keerim will likely soon return to renew the war." Horus contemplated what the admiral had suggested "You have a point there, how large would you have the fleet expanded this year then ?" "I would suggest expanding it with 2 light cruisers, 1 support carrier, 3 destroyers and 1 heavy cruiser." Hearing this Horus was baffled for a moment "Admiral are you suggest that we allocate all of our yearly budget to the fleet ?" "Yes sir, protection of our people is the utmost priority, especially for those not living on Novam Domum and do not have such considerable defenses." "That may be true admiral but we simply can't do that, we need to assist our partners in the Interstellar Accord in project Furmis as well as make sure that we progress our economy and other sciences, I would say have 2 light cruisers and 3 destroyers, we also need the money to get more money so as to be able to keep building ships at a large rate." The Admiral would get a stern expression at hearing this "With all due respect sir, if any hostile forces attack one of our colonies the navy is the first and last line of defense they have. Our allies will not be able to respond immediately if we were in need, it would take at least a day for them to reach us and in that time numerous colonies could already be occupied or genocided by any possible enemy we have. We can not risk that happening to us." Both men then sat in a tense silence for a while neither willing to break the silence before being able to further support an argument or get a compromise. Horus then broke the silence "I see admiral, let's have a compromise, we will build 2 light cruisers, 1 support carrier and 3 destroyers and the rest of our budget is allocated to our dues for project Furmis and the rest will be to expand our studies of biology." To this the Admiral nodded "We are in agreement then." The two men then further discussed the specifics for a while before the Admiral left leaving Horus to once more contemplate to himself. 13. Imperial Provinces Location: Novam Domum Through the vision of his thermobinoculars inquisitor Allisandor Carrow watched the warehouse from across the street. From the outside it did not seem like much, just another of the numerous hundreds of warehouses in the industrial district of Novam Domum. Yet from intelligence reports and from his observations it seemed that there was more happening inside this building than it seemed. It was almost assured some kind of criminal activity was happening but what exactly was unsure. Still what was most surprising about this warehouse were the kind of weaponry amongst the men inside of it. Some of the men even had power armor. This changed the situation from a normal police matter to an inquisition matter. If someone not of the military was able to acquire some of the best weaponry in the Imperial arsenal something was seriously wrong. As Allisandor observed the men inside the warehouse he could feel his student Timothy Faulks lay down next to him on his cot. "Any news ?" Timothy whispered silently. "Not much." The elder inquisitor said. "It seems that they are brining in unknown shipments every few hours, I'm not sure what is inside, the boxes are hidden from heat vision as well as any other see-through scans." Timothy looked thoughtful at this. "Have we tried to capture one of these boxes." To which Allisandor responded in a lecturing tone "No my student, that would be unwise, if we tried to capture one of them they would notice it was missing thus alerting them to our presence. But I get what you mean, we need to know what is going on inside of here. Which is why we are breaching this place tomorrow, there is certainly something wrong about it, something big" To this Timothy frowned and said in a doubtful tone "How are you so sure about this, though it is suspicious there is not any sign of it being something bigger." To this the inquisitor responded with a cocky yet confident smile "There may not be any great amount of proof of that specifically but you need to learn how to listen to your intuition." "If you say so." Timothy shrugged ----=--------=------ The next day --------=-------=------- Inquisitor Allisandor Carrow walked through the large alley, close to the criminal warehouse, looking at the forces gathered under his command. And for a non-military mission it was a large force there were 2 squads of heavy infantry, 1 squad of hunter droids as well as 5 squads of regular infantry. Finally he had one tank droid, which would create a pretty big boom. He then got approached by sergeant Titus, who would be his second in command for this operation. "Sir the troops are ready for action." "Good, it is time for action, commence the operation." The sign would then be given and the troops moved out. The group then divided into two, force Alpha that would get 1 heavy infantry squads, 1 hunter squad and 2 regular infantry squads and force Beta that would have 1 heavy infantry squad, 3 regular infantry squads and the tank droid. Then once both forces were in position both squads blew a hole in the wall. Allisandor then rushes through the hole created by the tank droid after throwing in a flashing, in a few moments he shoots down two blinded guards with two quick bursts from his assault rifle. He with the rest of his squad then moved forward quickly shooting down most of the men here, this would go successfully at first with the forces taking down the 9 men guarding the facility. But then the sounds of an elevator coming up came and then the doors opened revealing a dozen men in power armor. Quickly the men of the inquisition took cover and took advantage of the position of the rogue soldiers taking them down quickly. The inquisitor then approached one of the bodies and kick it. To which there would come a sound that slightly echoed. He then opened one of the large crates and was surprised to find a tank of all things. From around the warehouse the same action was repeated and it was discovered there were enough weapons there to arm a small army. With there being boxes holding canned food to enough heavy infantry equipment to arm 100 men. Allisandor commented to his student Timothy. "Well it seems we got a problem." 14. Imperial Provinces Location: Novam Domum Rain was rocking down the streets of Novam Domum. Small streams flowed across the streets as people took shelter in shops to the side or rushed to either their work or their homes. Through the dark water a pair of men in dark clothes were walking through the streets as if they hadn't even noticed the rain at all. Then after what was almost 10 minutes the men went into one of the many tunnel/bunker entrances that littered Novam Domum and walked with darkness surrounding them on all sides. The pair of men walked on for what seemed like hours, remaining silent on the way, the elder of the pair knocked against a door in what seemed like just a regular storage room. one of dozens upon dozens in the tunnel system. This knocking was in a peculiar rhythm and after almost a whole minute of knocking a voice come from the other side of the door the elder man of the pair was knocking on. "What comes at night when the citizen sleeps ?" With which the elder man in front of the door. Who had a noticeable scar running across his face replied. "He who uses the shadows to hide and those who are the shadows." Then with a loud cracking the door opened and a pair of guards were there in full power armor, holding their position and observing the men. They noticed the scarred man to which they nodded their heads inn their direction and one of the pair of guards said. "Identification please." As was standard procedure even though both guards clearly knew the scarred man. The scarred man then took from one of his jackets many pockets his ID card, to which his companion followed his lead and also showed the guard his ID. The elder man then spoke "Inquisitor Allisandor Carrow and Interrogater Timothy Faulks." To this the main guard nodded and both guards lifted up their rifles allowing the pair to pass into another room. This room was filled with much light and people milling about. People were chatting, instructing or discussing with each other on several issues. In the middle of the room there was a large table that showed a holographic statistics or maps and on the walls there would be several screen showing data. From population demographics to the known criminal elements inside or outside of Imperial space under watch from the inquisition. Furthermore the room was well lit and was fitted with itoron-steel panels to make sure that the base was protected from bombardment. Most of it was ignored by the two men though who walked to a single door at the end of the room in which's proximity almost no men came. All instinctively staying away from that single door and what would lie behind it. Then the elder of the companions knocked at the door and a voice said "Come in." As both men walked inside in the center of the room sat a seat with it's back turned to them and the same voice as earlier said. 15. Imperial Republic of Mankind Location: Novam Domum, Imperial palace, exercise yard Horus Varellion blocked the incoming sword strike from his opponent and blocked it with his own training sword and sent a set of offensive strikes against his opponent. His opponent then expertly blocked the set of strikes coming at him and seeing an opening in Horus's defense did a forward stab which though blocked by Horus caught him off balance of which his opponent then took advantage of and put the training sword to his neck. Seeing his situation Horus sighed and still sweating said "I yield" his opponents training sword then left his neck and he spoke up. "You are improving my lord but it will take some time before you can safely use that what was gifted to you." Horus nodded "That is true, thank you for helping to train me Logan, without you I would probably have cut of my arm at this point." Horus's bodyguard, Loken smiled "You probably would have my lord." Then Horus took a gulp from a bottle set to the side and rested for a few moments letting the sweat flow from his head before cleaning himself and putting on his normal clothing "Now with that done it's time to go back to work." He then walked to his office where he thought about what the schedule was for this year. With the colony ship recently completed he now was able to let the Imperial provinces expand it's borders and the government budget. This was something important that needed to be done. Yet he first needed a fertile planet to colonize. For a second he thought of the Sarrif planet and a diabolical grin crossed his face. No he would not make direct contact yet but the thought was tempting. Still if he needed a new planet he could scout many of the still uncharted regions of Imperial space where unknown amounts of resources awaited them. Yes that could work Still, a thought that kept nagging his mind is the lack of a large government income. Or at least small compared to other governments. This train of thought caused Horus to think on the income of the productive human colonies. What did they have what most governments lacked. Well investment into their economy of course as well as good intergalactic relations. Horus was not sure if he could gain the latter anytime soon but he knew he could do something about the first. At the very least he could start with promoting local business and maybe creating a natural eco-system so any future tourists would not see the bland endless planes of Novam Domum. Furthermore he thought of large forests across the planets in which the birds of old sang their song and childish laughter would fill the sky every now and then. Yes he knew what do this year. 16. Imperial Provinces Location: Novam Domum, Imperial palace ------[Public announcement]------- On a podium in front of the crowd the Emperor Horus Varellion would in an completely blank and neutral face look into the crowd gathered before him and read of the paper in front of him. "To my people and many others most importantly to the members of the Dominion of Man I apologize for my actions. By me giving away information that was not mine to give away I have caused a terrible fate to the people of both Eadn and the Affiliation. In doing this I have set in motion the events that would culminate in the destruction of THC above the orbit of Utopie by the hands of the Thuleans. This would be all." Then in a large amount of displeased being behind him the emperor would walk away from the podium back to the palace. 18. Imperial Republic of Mankind Location: Novam Domum, lake solaris It was silent on Novam Domum except for the sounds of 4 men carrying a single coffin. It was a sad time for the IRM, the emperor who had guided them from earth to where they were now was gone. After many years and trials he had finally fallen, for many it was a celebration, for many more it was a tragedy. Now the IRM was more fractured than ever before with it's guardian no longer being there. Now here at a small lake outside of the Imperial city there were only 6 people, Lily Flowers Alexander Varellion's wife, his son Horus Varellion and 4 of his bodyguards that had not been present at the assassination. Then the 4 men lifted the coffin up for a final time and slowly put it down into the ground and would then slowly fill the hole back up with dirt. Meanwhilst the two family members stood there in complete silence with silent tears running from both their faces. The emperor is dead Location: Cadia, Imperial military academy "MOVE YOU BUNCH OF FANCY GIRLS MOVE !!!!" sergeant Cutter would shout as the group of recruits crawled through the wet, cold and muddied grounds of the training area. Recruit Timothy Faulks then quickly sped up his pace as he heaved in and out breathing loudly. This he would do with many others of his company crawling, heaving and walking across the hellish grounds called, the training track. One of the reasons why everyone avoided angering the sergeant was because the punishment would be 2 rounds around the track. And if you failed to complete that you would have to double it another day. No one has ever reached 16 rounds, because they either completed it in time or passed out from exhaustion at which point they were relieved of that particular punishment. Timothy then continued his approach pulling forward, under the barbed wire with the help of his trusty rifle and determination. Unknown to most to him or any other recruit was that a small drone was constantly recording their movements from the trees or other hiding spots accros the mountains. At this very moment two men were watching the footage from these drones on one screen and on another there were statistics of all the recruits of the company. These two men were the director of this facility, an old man of almost 60 years old and a younger though still an adult man of around 30 years old. The 30 year old man would be wearing a hood, a utility belt and a piece of Itoron-plating being spread around various parts of his body protecting him whilst a light, strong leathery material would be under the steel plates and the parts of the body that needed mobility providing further protection. The 60 year old man, director Hammer would speak then "What do you think of this new batch of recruits anyone who shows promise for joining your 'organization'." The director would say having slight distrust and distaste coming through his voice when he said the word organization. "Recruits Willis and Smith are strong and are specialists in surviving and combat, they have also taken up a leadership role in this group of men and have gotten a good amount of obedience from them, though there are some who remain stubborn in remaining independent but they will learn eventually through hard work." "Is it the recruit Timothy that you speak of now ?" the hooded would say in a low but clear voice commanding respect and authority through it. "Well I must say yes, the recruit is not very receptive to leadership and authority whilst being mostly average in combat and other exercises, he does not seem good soldier material, thinks too much for himself and question his superiors. This can not do in the military, this kind of attitude on the battlefield will make the difference between life or death but he will learn, everyone eventually does." The hooded man had an almost unreadable expression on his face before speaking in his usual voice with a steel undertone in it as always. "Mhm, I must agree on those points, he is not the best soldier and would not fit best in the military and he is extremely unlikely to ever raise above the normal rank and file soldier." "Like I said he is not the best soldier but we will pull him through, though he will remain average at best." the director would say with a slight tone of superiority and cockiness in it. "I must disagree." The director would look up clearly surprised. "Didn't you hear me talk, he is just average he is not a good soldier." "Exactly." The hooded man would say now with an edge in his voice. "Have you seen how he acts, what he is not strong in for physical strength he shows remarkable characteristics and if trained will have very good cunning, he can sneak like a shadow, he has a willingness to sacrifice himself for the greater good and he does not listen to his leaders whatever they say but to the content of what they say." The hooded man would glance towards the recruit Timothy. "An almost perfect candidate for the inquisition." 20. Imperial Republic of Mankind Location: Planet of Cadia, the mountain region, military base Timothy Faulks an 18 year old, fresh out of high school with top marks and recomendations looked out from the viewport of the shuttle that was slowly descending down to a landing platform. All around him were large mountains, medium-sized mountain and huge mountains as far as the eye could see with some valleys in between. Right now the base he was in was on one of the medium-high mountains and even from here he could see a small road going down and up the mountain through the forests that grew on the mountainside. Then he readied himself as he saw the shuttle was about to reach the landing pad and packed what meager belongings he was allowed to take with him which had been heavily checked to make sure nothing was smuggled in. Then as the viewports opened he could immediately feel a rush of fresh-cold air which made him feel delighted, after taking a trip for 3 days staying only inside one of the frigates of the IRM with only pre-arranged oxygen being around. In some areas the heat was hard not to notice and the air always feeling a bit lacking. Back to the topic together with the air came a few snowflakes since the facility was on such a height it would always be snowy here. He felt like the cold would be a harsh teacher and companion in the time here. Seconds after the hatch opened he was pushed out by the other recruits and were forced to line up by the sergeant who had led them down here. Soon a few minutes later a regal and proud looking man walked down towards the landing pad from the facility. Whilst he had an aura of strength around him as well as some old kind of wisdom and experience. Something Timothy could not fail to notice about the man was the hair that was starting to grey as well as wrinkles on his skin indicating that the man was rather old. He was acompanied by a man who looked a bit younger as well as a bit more rugged and had a large noticable scar on his face which looked like it had only gotten there a few years ago. And whilst the regal man had a kind attitude aroundn him his companion seemed a bit more brutal and hardy, though the former could be because of the age difference. Then the regal looking man began to speak with a strong voice that held a strong aura of leadership in them which almost subconciously forced you to pay attention to him. "I am Hanmar Jaliks the director of the Cadia military academy. This academy has seen fine men go through here and I have trained fine men since before the existence of the Imperial Republic and I can make of anyone fine men no matter the background. Be it some poshy aristocratic kid or former scum from the worst kinds of households. All of them came here all diverse from all background and left here as one, one unit that would die for each other if it came to it. I believe I can make fine men of all of you but in the end you are the ones that make this happen. You may curse this facility you may wish that you had never gone here and may wish for the agony to end during your training but in the end it will be worth it." He would then point to his companion "This is Sergeant Hammer, he will supervise your training and be your superior whilst you are here, disobey him or any of his commands and he will choose your punishment. And whilst he is fair and does not prejuidice anyone it is just that. Everyone will get the same kind of punishement no matter who you are and for any mistake one of you makes you will all feel the consequences. Thus I wish you all a good stay at this academy, Ave imperatoria rem. He would then walk away leaving only sergeant hammer behind and everyone remained silent waiting for the sergeant. He got a sneer and spoke to the men "What are you doing here just standing pack your stuff and follow me to give you fine and dandy ladies a tour of this little palace." The tone of the sergeant was a bit demeaning and frustrated Timothy as he heard it "NOW MOVE or it will be 10 round around the facility." The squad then softly said "yes sir." With which the sergeant responded "I can't hear what maggots just said SPEAK LOUDER. SIR YES SIR" the squad then quickly responded and did as the sergeant commanded and Timothy knew then this would be a rought time. 21. Imperial Republic of Mankind Location: Novam Domum, streets of the Imperial center Through the streets of Novam Domum music and happy cries of both children and adults were heard as the troops proudly with or without power armor walked through the streets. In general there was a great mood among the people at the news that had just been gained not hours ago. The Colonial militia had accepted to be annexed into the IRM for more protection from any outside threats. From his balcony at the Imperial palace the emperor Alexander Varellion looked down with a smile almost plastered onto his face. This sudden news would propel the IRM into greater heights then thought before and speed up many of his plans. To his left and right stood Commander Dante and Admiral Winters, the hammer and anvil of the military. Alexander then spoke to the both of them "I don't think I could have imagined this just a few years ago that this would happen, it was all just chance but we took it with open hands and now we are one of the major human factions in the galaxy." The commander and Admiral both nodded in agreement "Yes this is truly a great asset, and like you said it makes us more of a force to be reckoned with. It has been expected that an almost 20-30% increase of government spending will now be available to invest into projects." Commander Dante would say. "That is true but there is a matter I think I should address." Admiral Winters said and the emperor and Commander looked at what the admiral was going to say. "I think we should help the Solarin federation with their shipyard ?" "And why would we do that Admiral ?" The emperor would question "Their shipyard is much more progressed then ours and has the capacity to produce bigger and more advanced ships and it would be cheaper to contribute a few of our resources to help them and not have to make them ourselves." Hearing this the emperor would ponder for a few moments. "Mhm you have a point there but we shouldn't be too reliant on any nation outside of our own, still I can see the point and agree with it, we should make the investment and start putting resources into the special projects." "Now back to the matter at hand." the emperor would say as the parade came to an end in front of the Imperial palace and the emperor stood up to speak. "My people, we have faced many hardships these years, from the near destruction of human civilization when we lost our original home of Novam Domum to here. We have had to live through harsh conditions especially in the early days with no infrastructures and the harsh days and nights of the endless desert planet." "Yet look at what we have achieved. We have turned this planet from an empty desert into a green planet with thriving cities in which proud Imperials live." "Earth may have died but we have grown strong and now we have grown stronger once again with the Colonial Militia joining us after them being attacked by the Kalronians. I am proud to say that we together have worked so that the Colonial Militia would choose us of all people." "Not the Free human technocracy or any other colony us. and I say to you my people be proud of yourself be proud of being an Imperial." "Because being an Imperial is not only something you are born to be but something you choose to be. To be Imperial is human not simply in body but in soul. It is to be stubborn and adaptive and always ensure your survival. To be human is to be in the darkest of times and always work and hope for a better future. To be human is to be strong and to be human is to be victorious." The Emperor would then shout "LONG LIVE THE IMPERIAL REPUBLIC !" This cry would then be followed by all the others at the squares and beyond at the other planets of the IRM where this speech was broadcasted live. 22. Imperial Republic of Mankind Location: Novam Domum, Imperial palace The emperor was sitting in his chair with one of his legs over the other with a frown plastered on his face as he was heavily contemplating the message he heard. It seemed that there was another unknown human colony that now requested to join another human colony for protection. He thought that the IRM was one of the more likely people who had a valid position in getting some new colonists. It would at the very least provide a larger population. Furthermore it would help with getting more security for both them and the IRM. Even then there were other matters, what was disturbing was what had happened to the Republic Thulee and whilst he did not have any interest or relations in them before the catastrophe such a huge loss of life when humanity was weak already from the exodus was definitely disturbing. He then further though about how to get the Colonial Militia to join the IRM. He pondered for a moment before realizing what they wanted. Security. If he could prove to them that he could provide the most security then they would join him. This he definitely could, the IRM had one of the most fortified planets of the southern galaxy and they had one of the if not the strongest human military. Another interesting thing was the GTC, it could definitely provide a great opportunity for him and possibly the whole galaxy. Right now would be the best time to invest in it but he did not have the resources to both get a stronger navy to help boost his military presence as assurance for the Colonial Militia as to the security they could provide. Yet he also had other plans, he had recently gained a source of xylorite and in his mind it would be much more efficient and almost wasteful if he just used xylorite in it's raw form. He could possibly in the future also sell the refined xylorite to any passing travelers that would come past the trade route the GTC was planning in the future. Yes he had much oppertunity yet not enough resources. He could not do everything at once. Yet Alexander knew that with the rising industry it would be more beneficial to invest into it through making an Itoron refinery because then it would be just at the turning point that it would provide huge benefits for the IRM. Yes the coming weeks would prove to be interesting. Location: London Prime, GTC-P, Grand Hotel Diplomat Samuel Martens of the IRM would look from his balcony into the great city that was London Prime. Mind you it was not like the great cities of the Redons, Karras or Protoritans but for human standard it was most likely one of if not the most advanced city there was. He then turned around to the other man behind him. "So you're telling me that we could build an embassy here for free ?" Samuel would say in surprise at what he had heard a minute earlier "Yes of course, your nation has taken a clear interest in trading with us and the costs would still be yours to construct it, let's just say that we think that we could both make some mutual profit of some things you have talked to us about." the diplomat of the GTFO would say. "Mhm, I must think about it and I can't make the final decision but I can think it is safe to say that my emperor will be pleased with this, one inquiry I might have though could it possibly be a decent distance away from the Han embassy, we do not have the best of relations." Samuel would say with a slight grimace talking about the Han, the wound of the loss at Laandalir Trial still fresh in the minds of many Imperials. "That can be arranged." the GTFO diplomat would say with a neutral expression though Samuel expected the diplomat was face palming internally at the clear animosity between two human factions among a galaxy of other beings. "So the final arrangements would be that we got a piece of land we can build our embassy on which would preferably also be a cultural center and we will need to build it at own costs." "That is correct." Samuel would laugh for a moment and the GTFO diplomat would raise an eyebrow at the laughing as if questioning why Samuel would laugh which Samuel quickly responds to. "It's just that we do not have much of a culture yet, though we have a national identity our nation has not existed long enough to create it's own distinct culture though it is something we thrive towards, maybe this could be something to accelerate that process." The GTFO diplomat would nod in acceptance. "I think this talk will be over then, though I do have a slight inquiry, have you heard of some gang called the Red Imperials, they are a group of men which use much of the same symbolism as your nation and have recently tried to smuggle in some drugs." "The Red Imperials you say, I think I remember that name from somewhere, I think something with a few fanatics, I will report to my superiors about this." Message to the Colonial Militia A transmission would arrive at the Colonial Militia initially displacing the symbol of the Aquila before a voice starts speaking. "We of the Imperial Republic of Mankind have heard of the plight of the Colonial Militia and we wish to help. Though we can not understand what you have suffered through we know the evil of the Kalronians. They as you have experienced only wish to kill and destroy until they are the only sentient beings left in existence. They will not stop and will keep coming back yet we can bring you safety. We of the Imperial Republic have fought against enemies which were stronger than ourselves yet still overcame it with it's allies. We fought hideous abominations created by the Kalronians on our moon and we fought on the fields of Tassarea against the monstrous corrupters. We realize that there is great evil in the galaxy and we wish to protect our own from it. We have some of the strongest defenses in the south. One of the strongest human armies and a spirit matched by none other. We have forged a greater destiny for our people a destiny to help the survival of the human race and help the galaxy as a whole. We have and will most likely fight in the future with enemies that might seem unstoppable and we might fall just like everyone else in the face of such great enemies. Yet what we wish is that you will stand with us and we promise with all our hearts that we will prove ourselves to the men and women of your great nation and hope you will assist us for a better tomorrow " Actions 6ap is invested into building 2 destroyers for the defense of Novam Domum 4ap is invested into a xylorite refinery (Total ap invested into industry 21, with this it should become 25) 1ap providing aid to the Colonial militia if any was needed after the Kalronian attack 0 ap will be spent requesting the Libellan architect of the Solarin Federation to help in the construction of the Xylorite refinery. 23. Imperial Republic of Mankind Location: Novam Domum, outer defenses The emperor Alexander Varellion looked out from one of the watchtowers looking at the line of concrete bunkers lining the outside of the Imperial center and the area outside of the city consisting of mostly farms and some mines scattered around several positions. As he looked around flanked by his bodyguards the Praetorians he saw the long and very fortified line of bunkers and other positions that aimed mainly outside the city but also got a few position towards the inside in case the inside was breached. He then realized and muttered to himself "I must say I maybe went a little bit too far. or a lot." He says as he remembers hearing from the reports that Novam Domum was now one of the most fortified worlds in the southern galaxy which has a pretty decent history of war these last few decades and especially these last few years. But now he at least knew that Novam Domum was safe and good with land based defenses as well as the fortifications on the moon. What still was lacking though was the absence of a fleet in the air. This could be a large, to be honest it is a extreme disadvantage since it denies the IRM a large amount of mobility and it can not react to a attack on one of it's two outer colonies outside of Novam Domum. Still though, it was satisfying to come close to the title of most fortified world in the southern galaxy, though he still wanted to make sure that there were more delaying actions for all civilians to manage to get into cover of the bunker complexes. So what he needed was safety but he also needed to make sure there were less enemies that would attack him. Yet luckily he at least a few dealings in place that would hopefully prevent an attack from one of it's more direct possible enemies which would be more interested in him as a whole. Alexander then turned around seeing Commander Dante and Admiral Winters approaching and motioned to the Praetorians who were standing around him in a semi-circle to let them through. He might be a bit paranoid with the Praetorians following him around whenever he went outside of the palace and kept his private quarters guarded but paranoia has saved more than a few lives, if it was not overdone. Back to the matter at hand admiral Winters and Commander Dante came to stand next to him "A good view is it not." the emperor would say looking out over the green fields of the formerly barren land. "That is true sir, but we wanted to speak to you.""Of course." Alexander says as he listens to admiral Winters speak"Then speak, what matter would you wish to talk of.""Well my liege whilst we know that these defenses will be very good for any land battles and some slight space support with the Karras cannons we feel like there might not be enough space based defenses." commander Dante would say and Alexander would nod. "That is true but what would you suggest I do, build the fleet larger ?" "Precisely." the admiral would say. "Mhm," Alexander then strokes his chin as he contemplates "Yet at some point I will need to stop investing into pure military or we will get weak economically." "That is true yet I emphasize as you personally already know there are plenty of threats that would profit of our destruction." Alexander then spoke with authority in his voice "I will listen to your suggestions and will definitely take them into consideration but I will also invest in some matters that can help strategically whilst also helping our income." "And what might that be ?" Dante inquires. "Well chlorite of course." Alexander smirks The NIP (New Immigration Policy) The emperor Alexander Varellion looking from the other human colonies has seen the benefits of letting aliens join their colonies but neither does he want to dilute the human gene pool. Thus he has decided to now let any sapient species as classified by the archival in his discovery of the united gene pool of many races. a.k.a. Da'Nor Tassareans etc. Thus any sapient races wishing to flee from the war and live on the secure planet of Novam Domum are welcome. 24. Imperial Republic of Mankind Location: Novam Domum, tunnel network Steps could be heard through the tunnel as a small group walked through it, the sounds of heavy machinery as well as normal footsteps were the most common of these. In this group the emperor himself Alexander Varellion as well as several building inspectors. They were looking for any structural weaknesses as well as the progress already made. The tunnels seemed almost endless though Alexander knew they were limited to the cities of Novam Domum. He then came to a crossroads where he then took the the turn to the left towards the gun emplacement which even then took a long 10 minutes to reach. As he walked through it he could see storage rooms to see enough supplies to hold out for possibly years here underground in case of a siege as well as mountains of ammunition all that was needed to keep the planet under control. He also climbed into one of the bunkers with an outside view that had a vantage points into the city where could be fired from in case the enemy entered the city. Here he could already see an automated machine gun which could be used to mow the enemy down or at least give a high rate of fire against any possible high-tech enemies with shielding. Yes these defenses were strong but he could also see that it was not finished yet. Many sections still needed to be build until everything was ready and everyone was safe. This he remarked upon as he also touched the reinforced walls with solid strength behind them able to at lest resist a single railgun bullet coming here if it managed to find the position of the tunnels at least. Then he eventually reached the large surface-space weapons that were ready to be used against any who dared to violate Imperial space and spew fire and smoke upon them, well not really since it used mass accelerators and other such things but you get the point. These guns would defend the IRM against any threats that were to come as well as any that they had now. He then turned to one of the building inspectors "How structurally sound would you say these tunnels systems and bunkers are ?" the emperor inquired before the inspector nervously scrambled a response "The defense system whilst formidable is not truly finished yet and cannot be used to it's maximum effectiveness, we will still need an abundance of manpower and resources to further expand it." The emperor then contemplated the situation for a moment "That is unfortunate but that is what we have expected, as you suggested inspector this will still need to have a lot of effort put into it otherwise it might not prove sufficient for what is to come in the future, we need the resolve of the people to help pull this off and make sure that they will not have to fear for their lives when explosions sound. Though they should feel a healthy amount of fear otherwise they would not be thinking well." He then made an 180 degree turn and went back to the Imperial palace for further discussion of the defenses. Location: Novam Domum, war room somewhere on the planet The emperor stood in the war-room together with commander Dante and admiral Avery Winter looking to the large simulation in the middle of the room showing Novam Domum, it's cities and strategic resources as well as the rest of the solar system surrounding it, with the second largest forcus being on the moon where the second set of fortifications were. Here they contemplated the statistics and simulations that were goon on as they thought of what they should do once the enemy arrived, they stood together in silence until the admiral spoke up "Gentlemen, we have a problem here, whilst the fortifications do give us good defences and will make us be able to last out longer it will also make sure we can't actively respond to the threats in space and that we remain stationary, if the Kalronians attack at the end of year and we only focus on our defenses then we will have a problem on our hands." The emperor nodded in agreement with what the admiral Winters was saying "Yes that may be true but how do you suggest we take care of it, we don't have the resources available at the moment to both expand our defenses as well as defending our fleet, it is either one or the other and we definitely can't neglect either." the emperor says as the company then contemplates the situation until Dante got an idea "We could as another option invest into a large fighter squadron, we can make a hanger on the moon which we can use to hold and send out any fighters we have and with their numbers and maneuverability we can use them to overwhelm the enemy when the heavy hitters a.k.a. the orbital defense cannons give the heavy punches." the company nodded "That is a good idea commander, we will try to implement that as soon as possible to make sure we are prepared when the time comes to defend ourselves because yes it will come, whether in the form of the Kalronians, Corrupters or the Han and their minion the USA there will come a time that we need to be ready for an invasion and when that time comes we will be ready. Actions 5 ap is spent further fortifying Novam Domum by building defenses as well as defense cannons 3 ap is spent fortifying the moon mainly focusing on offensive capabilities to use against any faction that invades IRM space in Novam Domum 3 ap is spent producing 300 fighters with 50 being designated as bombers to give the payload of xylorite torpedoes to the enemies. 0 ap is spent creating a hanger on the moon of Novam Domum to hold the fighters that are being built as well as any other fighters in the future. The IRM accepts the Porton technocracies offer though they would send the ship that is needed for the agreement at a later date when most of the defenses were taken care of and they weren't in such a crisis. 25. Imperial Republic of Mankind Location: Novam Domum, Imperial palace, Imperial office The light was on in the imperial office even as it was almost completely dark outside except for few spots of lights indicating other places where people were still awake. Here Alexander Varellion emperor of the IRM thought about the current situation at hand. The southern galactic war was the biggest war the humans had ever seen, it was almost beyond what people could have imagined back on earth. Corrupters and Keerim in the east, the Karrass civil war in the west and the Kalronians in the south all potentially dangerous for the IRM. Of those Alexander worried mainly about the Kalronians. They had a reputation of being fanatic purgers and were known for not being the most tolerant of beings. And the IRM had a former asset of theirs above their very heads as Alexander looked into the sky where the moon was. It could prove a huge potential boon in the future yet for now it also proved a great liability and possible target for the Kalronians. Even if the Kalronians wouldn't attack there were still the Han to worry about who would attack them if they ever showed that they were weak. Yes many threats and possible threats were there for the IRM. Some might call Alexander paranoid but paranoia had made him become one of the largest corporations on earth and managing to get him to have a colony ship to Mars originally. Paranoia whilst unfound could either prove a slight disadvantage or a great boon, mostly the latter when you were leading a nation, especially one with the circumstances the current colonies were in. Luckily he had gotten what he possibly needed and now the time was there to prepare. Soon the Kalronians would attack, it was almost inevitable in Alexander's mind, they would come to get the facility to produce more replicants in the war against the Ganvius where very extra boon could be just what tipped the balance. That war would be huge, these two colossi had been preparing for this war for decades and in this situation all human colonies were just ants, though possibly really helpful or annoying ants. Soon the day of reckoning would come for the IRM in one way or another. Soon it would be seen who lives and survives and all this was on his shoulders, every death would be his fault as well as every survivor, it was a hard burden knowing a whole nation depended on you, though not a populous nation it was still a nation with more than 300.000 brave souls living in it. Yes it was time to prepare to make sure that the IRM would survive the storm to come, he felt that he was being judged by the gods or some other great beings, this would either be his greatest achievement or his greatest achievement. War was coming Actions 5 ap is spent fortifying the planet of Novam Domum 5 ap is spent fortifying the moon base In both projects, especially the moon base one, the newly gained technology will be applied 0 ap is spent colonizing the planet with xylorite on it 0 ap is spent making sure only high command knows of what some of the weapons are used for and the inquisition makes sure it is kept that way Military 4500 soldiers in mark I power armor 10.000 soldiers total 10.000 citizens registered as reserves 40.000 militia in case of an invasion population: 310,500
