What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Translocation

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Translocation is a magic that makes use of the void to deconstruct and reconstruct objects for storage as well as using mana anchors to funnel a person or an object from one place to another. It takes up one slot, and is a voidal magic. There are two primary functions of translocation, those are expatriation and shifting. That magic is in essence, teleportation magic. It does more or less the same things to both people and objects with some minor differences, such as being unable to deconstruct a person to living thing to store in the void. There's also minor differences in teleporting oneself, such as minor teleportation allowing for more flexibility in movement with some minor verticality or brisk step, a faster more limited spell that can be used to quickly move a mage out of danger, or to reposition for better spellcasting.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Expatriation is the deconstruction and reconstruction part of the magic, allowing for a mage to more or less store things within the void such as a sword. This give them a flavorful way to pull things out of 'nowhere' or to draw a sword. This can also be used as if it's teleporting an object between to mana anchors. For example you could fire an arrow through one side for it to come out the other side with the same relative velocity

Shifting has to deal with the movement of organic matter through these mana anchors. You can do things such as teleport yourself or a group. It can also be utilized as a flavorful way to use your soulstone, allowing you to emote walking through a rift to your desired location (a location you have your soulstone bound to)

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Brisk Step:

Gwyneth's eyes began to glow a pastel purple hue. A mist of similar hue began to seep from her sockets, down her cheeks.

In the next moment the mage would burst into a cloud of that mist that trailed off twelve meters forth, where she would reappear to take in a sharp breath, gasping in a sudden moment of exertion from such as sudden shift in postion.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    Brisk Step Teaching:

Gwyneth watched on as her student connected to the void, their eyes taking on a sharp red gleam. She spoke up in a low tone, leaving them to largely concentrate on the monumental task at hand. "You are not meant to think on it long. Connect and think of your escape, think of being somewhere where you're not."

The student would suddenly burst into a red trail that snapped off six meters to their right, they stumbled and fell to their knees nearly vomiting at the sudden jarring experience.

"At first," Gwyn began, "It will be difficult, it will throw you off, it will dizzy you. You're shifting your entire being from one point in out reality to another. You'll suddenly see everything different, as if you moved at an infinitely fast speed. You'll never quite get used to it, and such a brisk teleportation with so little preparation will pull more mana out of you, exhausting you more quickly."

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If a student of mine powergames, for a first offense in a singular spell it might just be a misunderstanding. It's simple enough to fix by taking them aside in messages or in a discord chat to let them know that they're using the spell in problematic way. Say they powergame with Burst Body for example, and they use it to hunt down and reveal ghosts that they otherwise have no inclination to knowing they're in the area. They're simply using it to hunt them down, house by house and area by area. I would let them know that this isn't a suitable use for the spell and instead they should only use it if there is an objective reason to be suspicious of a ghost in the area, reminding them of the redlines of the spell. For example, they should only use it to reveal a ghost if the signs are there, objects are moving without a visible source of force for example.

People do make mistakes or forget redlines when they're learning a new magic. They're not familiar with it and they haven't internalized everything yet, so sometimes it's necessary to pull them aside and remind them of the correct and fair way to use the magic. To remind them of how to use the magic in a lore-abiding way. If it's continued to be abused and misused then it's something to take up with the appropriate Story Team members and potentially discuss dropping them as a student and user of the magic.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Water Evocation

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Water Evocation is like any other evocation. You are pulling water into the real world from the void. While water is the name of the game, ice may also be created and conjured at will during later tiers within the magic. It's a diverse magic with a plethora of both combative and non-combative uses.

As with other evoked substances, you must know the ins and outs of the material to be conjured. You must know the properties of it. In this case you must know the consistency, the feel, anything and everything about water. It's one of the easier things to summon as most basic life in universe requires water to live. Any descendant hoping to learn this evocation has likely been around water, whether drinking it, swimming in it or otherwise. This makes it an easy thing to picture and manifest, leaving a first time connection to the void to perhaps be the more difficult part for new voidal magi.

Again, like all evocations, the summoned water has somewhat different properties than regular water already existing within the world. For example, the caster must maintain a line of sight to their evoked water lest it disappeared. This leads to the water being useless when drank, practically as soon as it enters one's mouth sight has been lost and it will disappear. Another example is that when touching a surface, such as someone's clothing, it will wet them, clinging just like water does. When connection is broken, either willingly or not, the water will disappear leaving the surface dry yet again.

Abilities consist of various things, from shields of water and ice that work in similar but fairly differentiating ways. There are waves of water to displace and control an area, as well as ice spikes to do a similar thing in a different fashion. It's a versatile magic that does well at control rather than harsh, straight up damage.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

There are not particularly different subsections beyond water and ice casting. Up until tier three, burgeoning water evocationists cannot conjure up projectiles or walls of ice. They're limited to liquid water and the spells that pertain to such. Even as they hit tier three, their conjured ice is crude and unable to be refined into more complex shapes such as shape edges.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Water Blast (C)

Gwyneth drew in a deep breath. Her brow furrowed as a pastel purple mist began to form and drift from her eyes, down her cheeks

Out from beneath the mage's sleeves slithered narrow flows of water. They traveled down along her wrist, into and above her palm where they gathered into an orb, floating just above her hand.

In one motion she drew back her hand before flicking her wrist forth, throwing out an orb of water which splashed into a wall with minor force. Like a water-balloon, the sphere burst and dampened the surface.

As the glow of Gwyneth's eyes diminished and eventually fell away entirely, so too did the conjured water. The wet surface dried up as if it were heated by some great fire - yet there was no heat. It was simply gone without the connection of the void.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    Conjure Water (N):

"To begin, you must know the most basic of abilities. To conjure the element in question. To conjure something you must know all about it. It's feel, the way it moves, how it interacts with other objects." Gwyneth began, taking a pause to watch as her student followed along, hanging on to each and every word. "Think about water. Picture it in your head. A flowing stream, a lake. Think of how it works and what it does. How it feels and how it flows."

Her eyes began to emit a soft purple glow. From them flowed a mist of similar hue, down her face. Eventually it dissipated with distance. "Now narrow your focus. Think of a single drop. Envision it and all it's properties. Then will it forth. A hard task to simply give, just call it forth. Focus on it and envision it floating above your palm." She instructed while at the very same time, above her own palm did a small droplet manifest itself, seemingly spinning. Small ripples coasted across the tiny drops surface as the ambient wind gently pushed against it.

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

Have a discussion with them first. Often times it's just a misunderstanding somewhere along the way.

Correct the issue and move on, if it continues to happen, drop the student or take it up the with lore team as a whole.

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

By use of water evocation, one may conjure a ray of chilling cold akin to rays of raw arcane power from the days of Arcanists.
    e802728531be812d753004f50a052020.jpg

    Mechanics:

    Ray of Frost (C):

    Spoiler

It takes 5 emotes to cast this spell. (1 Connect + 4 Charge + 1 cast)

    - A master mage (T5) may utilize this spell twice per combat scenario, expending nearly half of their mana pool. A first cast would leave them winded but still able to cast spells. A second cast assuming no other spells were cast would lead them to mana exhaustion. Any other minor use of mana afterwards would render them unconscious. Likewise a first cast mixed with other spells then a second cast would also immediately render the caster unconscious.

    - The ray is one meter wide and may reach out to fifteen blocks

    - The ray stops when it hits something, be it a person or object. That is to say that it’s not an area of effect spell but rather single-target.

    - It leaves a thick layer of ice wherever it may hit for two emotes. On the ground it will leave a slick patch in a 3x3 area. If it hits an individual it will cover them in ice, binding their movement and slowing them (half CRP rules movement per turn, sluggish actions i.e. easier to dodge melee attacks).

    - Slows for 2 full turns of combat

    - Sprinting through the 3x3 ice patch will cause the sprinter to fall down, losing any more movement for the turn (When following CRP rules).

    - Hits with the strength of an arbalest in a human torso sized area. Unarmored targets will experience broken bones. Light armor (i.e. gambeson) will experience heavy bruising and minor fractures. Heavy armor (plate) will experience Bruising and potential dents in the metal.

    - May take on the color of ice or the caster's aura.

    Ray of Frost (N):

    Spoiler

    - A cantrip version of the spell may be cast out of combat. This has none of the concussive force and may be maintained to drag across a surface such as water. This will create a bridge strong enough for up to two people to stand on at once for up to two emotes.

    - Treated as a T3 spell in terms of mana-cost.

    - The ray is one meter wide and may reach out to fifteen blocks

    - This bridge may go for up to 5 blocks.

    - May take on the color of ice or the caster's aura.

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

    Ray of Frost (C):

    Spoiler

    - Standard Evocation Rules Apply: Valid MA in Water Evo, line of sight required

    - May not be dragged around as a constant beam

    - May only be cast twice per narrative hour or combat scenario, a third attempted usage will render the mage unconscious and the casting to fail.

    - Cannot be enchanted

    - Without an arcane focus in hand, one may not move while casting. With a focus, one may move up to two blocks.

    - The third emote (second charge emote) must include the buildup of frost in the air along the ray’s intended path.

    - The ray extends out at the speed of an arbalest to 15 blocks, fizzling out at the 16th.

    - Emote count may not be reduced by any means, via Incanter’s Flow for example.

    - The slowing effect may be reduced to one emote near a source of fire.

    Ray of Frost (N):

    Spoiler

    - The cantrip-level non-combat cast will only apply a thin layer of frost should it contact a person, causing no harm.

    - Maximum of 5 blocks of distance across water

    - May not form bridges out of thin air

    - May not be used to reach somewhere where you cannot mechanically reach.

    - The bridge formed in stippled for mild grip and may not be used to affect another's balance by way of difficult, slippery terrain

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

Born from the fervent desire of one individual to reclaim a lost source of power, this spell emerged as a testament to their unyielding determination. Its sole purpose: to rekindle the long-forgotten Arcane Ray, albeit in a completely transformed manner, bearing only faint traces of its voidal lineage.

Drawing its inspiration from the arcane annals of old, this incantation harnessed facets of Hydromancy. Its creator crafted it with the intention of granting its wielder the ability to exert a superior level of control on the battlefield. As they contemplated the icy embrace of their magic, they envisioned a dominion over powerlessness itself—a means to hold adversaries at bay with towering spires of frigid might.

With their profound knowledge of Arcanism and their newfound mastery of Water Evocation, they wove a spell designed to ensnare mighty foes, to hinder their advance and restrain them. Their creation possessed the capability to diminish the force of enemy strikes, and to obstruct narrow passages with fields of slickened ice. All of this was encapsulated within the form of a focused beam, capable of inundating and freezing any single target that dared cross its path.

Number of duplicates of this Artifact:

             None at creation

Do you understand that there is a three-month cooldown between posting MArts per-player, and that cooldown begins upon acceptance? (Denial does not trigger a cooldown period.)

             Yes

Have you applied for this Artifact before, and had it denied? If so, link the app:

             No
