  2. An elf frowns. She sits up in bed, narrowing her haggard eyes, drawing her knees to herself. "Really?"

    A confirmation.

"Damn. You hate to see good doctors die."

". . .Means I'll have more work to do."

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Sorvian Sculpting

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Sorvians are funky dudes made out of wood and clay and porcelain and blood and a little bit of soul essence. Sorvian sculpting is the process of making these funky dudes.

Making a Sorvian is simple! First, you make yourself a wooden skeleton. This will serve as the Sorvian's bones. The skeleton's gotta be humanoid, although you can add more arms; the strength of the Sorvian, in this case, will be evenly split amongst the arms.

Then, once you've got yourself a wooden skeleton, you slap some clay on that bad boy. Make sure to fully cover it! It should still be humanoid in proportion, and while you can have a few aesthetic ridges and lines if you want, you can't do anything fancier.

Now that you've got yourself a wooden skeleton with some clay on it, you're gonna want to make a porcelain mask. This mask should have two eye-holes and one mouth-hole. Pretty simple stuff, so far.

Then comes the ~magic~. You take a little bit of your blood, and you write a strange and funky symbol on the back of the mask. This is called Incanting. Incanting uses a little bit of your soul essence, since you're infusing the mask with it. You'll feel a little cold and weak; but worry not! Soul essence regenerates. The funky symbol you scrawl will be in an unknowable and constantly shifting language. Pretty crazy stuff!

Then comes the magic part two. This bit is called Awakening. You slap that mask you've made on the head of the wooden skeleton with clay on it! A wave of blue light later, and bam, you've got yourself a genuine gluten-free open-range Sorvian of your own!

So, what else can Sorvian Sculptors do, you ask? Well, I'm glad you did! Sorvian Sculptors can heal injured Sorvians! If a Sorvian comes to you with a boo-boo--like, it's lost its arm, or something, you can fix it right up with these handy-dandy steps. First, it a replacement limb, with that tried-and-true wooden skeleton and clay flesh. Then do a little bit of Incanting on the connection point; you know, the whole blood-scrawling soul-essence-infusing thing. Then you can reattach it in a flash of light! If a Sorvian's got a chunk carved out of it, you can put that chunk back by mixing some clay and blood and slapping it on that bad boy!

You can also bring Sorvians back after they die! The easiest way is to recover their undamaged mask, and slap it on a new clay-and-wood body. But if their mask is destroyed, you can recreate it, no biggie. This is the exact same process of creating a Sorvian, except you will it to be the destroyed one. Its new body will warp into the old shape it has, wounds and all!

But what are some redlines associated with Sorvian Sculpting, you ask? Well, I'm glad you did!

    • You can only make three Sorvians every three OOC months! This limitation doesn't apply to reviving them, and also doesn't apply to non-playable Newt Sorvians.
    • If you're a Sorvian Sculpor who also happens to be a Sorvian, you can only make one Sorvian every three months, and you've gotta borrow someone else's blood to do it.
    • Sorvians you make are 3-6 feet tall, if they're played by a real person.
    • Newt Sorvians you make are 2-3 feet tall, if they're played by a real person.
    • NPC Newt Sorvians you make are 1-2 feet tall.
    • Sorvians will obey the commands of their makers, although they won't harm their masks.
    • Healing a Sorvian or reattaching limbs will leave soft, pale flesh wherever you did the healing.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

    There aren't!

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Incanting

Faeryel dips her quill into the small cup of blood, before leaning over the porcelain mask lying face-down before her. Brow furrowing in concentration, she begins to scribe indecipherable characters on the smooth white ceramic, ignoring the twinges of pain from the bandaged part of her arm.

The blood-red words shift and swirl as they're written, parts vanishing and reappearing, blood flowing across the porcelain in random patterns. Writing seems to take a bit out of Faeryel; she shudders as she goes about it, taking a moment to draw a cloak closer around her shoulders, hunching further over.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    "Incanting.

Sorvian Sculpting is a dark magic, by definition, Wensleydale. You're manipulating forces that are purely of this plane; in this case, souls. However, Sculpting avoids the stigma associated with dark magic because it only works with the soul's outermost parts. A constantly-refreshing pool, and drawing from it causes no permanent harm.

It's like the difference between cutting your fingernails and stabbing yourself in the hand.

Soul essence. Meditate. Draw it out from yourself. Empty your mind, and let it flow into the letters you write. Pry away little pieces of yourself - pieces that you won't miss - and put them into your blood.

You won't be able to understand it. That's okay. It's magic.

You'll feel sick. That's to be expected."

Her student presses down; the knife takes a bite out of his finger, letting blood drip-drip-drip onto the table. He winces; she silently passes over a bowl, and takes his forearm to hold his bleeding finger over it.

She presses a quill into his uninjured hand. He dips it in the crimson fluid, and puts it to the back of the mannequin--"Eyes open," she gently chides.

He puts trembling nib to porcelain. The strokes he draws are wild, unpatterned, and unfortunately static. He notices this after a bit, and frowns, looking to Faeryel.

"I didn't get it on my first try, either." She gives him an encouraging smile, and brings a hand up to rest it on his shoulder. "Don't worry. We'll clean it off and try again."

"It's marvelous, really, that such a little part of ourselves can become something self-sustaining, even self-replicating. A part of our souls that we don't even need can exist on its own, given physical form by wood and clay and ceramic. It is, of course, subject to the limitations of its lesser being... But it is very much alive."

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If my student powergames during my teaching, I would stop them there. I would explain what they did wrong, why what they did was wrong, and then have them reemote.

If my student powergames after my teaching, I would explain them what they were doing wrong, and why what they did was wrong. If they continued, I’d report them to the ST.

  5. "...Oh."

She can't believe it; the words don't register. Her vision begins to blur.

    "Huh."

kill myself. kill myself. kill myself. The letters twist and contort until they aren't letters, just meaningless ink on a page. kill myself. Those aren't words. Those little squiggly lines? Nonsense. She can feel her heartbeat in her throat.

Alucard, gone? She'd just talked to him. He hadn't shown any signs of distress. He was just Alucard, and Alucard got into trouble, sometimes, but surely nothing bad. Surely nothing fatal. Surely not. kill myself

She lets out a shaky laugh. Her fingers are sweaty. They can't grip the parchment anymore; it slips to the ground. She closes her eyes, presses her hands to her closed eyelids, and there the words are, their afterimage branded on the inside of her skull. kill myself.

    "No. NO."

Flames of Ifrit | Two Emote Spell
The Accursed may make weapons of flame from the cracks in their body, which turn into rusted weapons that have the hardness of steel. Only one weapon can be made once per encounter and it must be mundane. It cannot be used to melt other weapons but the heat is slight and only enough to cause third degree burns on prolonged exposure (three emotes of constant contact).

If the heat is slight, did you happen to mean first degree burns? Third degree burns are the worst that burns can be.
