Faeryel looks over the scrubbed-clean Sutican cobblestones from her bedroom window, before turning to her desk. At her gesture, a glass paperweight assumes the shape of Judas's face; cold, disapproving. "I'm sorry. I really did think we were friends."

She sits, and gets back to work, avoiding the statuette's unblinking gaze.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Atronach Forging

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Atronach forging is the process of making a sentient, golem-like being with arcane magic. Atronachs are mostly comprised of their element, along with plates that set the boundaries of their forms, and a gemstone core encased in arcaurum. They require transfiguration and whichever evocation they're made out of to be created. They are capable of casting certain spells from their bodies, and their strength and durability varies by subtype. They have descendent-like intelligence, although are unable to feel true emotion. They can be killed with alteration, their opposing element, or simply by bashing their plates or core enough times. They also require recharging, the timeframe based on whether they're fluid or solid. Atronachs explode on death after a few emotes of charging.

You can also make atronach limbs with atronach forging! They're just as strong as normal limbs, but require recharging and have a couple non-combat abilities.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Fire atronachs: Require fire evo and tfig to make. Strength of a T5 mage. Three hard hits to their core to incapacitate.

Water atronachs: Require water evo and tfig to make. Strength of a T5 mage. Three hard hits to their core to incapacitate.

Ice atronachs: Require water evo and tfig to make. Strength of a T3 mage. Four hard hits to their core to incapacitate.

Earth atronachs: Require earth evo and tfig to make. Near-golem strength. Four hard hits to their core to incapacitate. Very slow.

Air atronachs: Require air evo and tfig to make. Strength of a T5 mage. Three hard hits to their core to incapacitate. Very fast.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

[!] Faeryel jams the magegold spike into the reclining man's arm-stump. He winces, but doesn't scream, probably due to the amount of painkillers he's on. Murmuring under her breath, her eyes fog over, a grey color replacing her irises and corneas. Hands splayed above the magegold, grey mists exude from her fingertips, sinking into the embedded spike. Tongues of flame spurt from the limb's core, becoming larger and larger, until they begin to animate the array of plates she'd laid out beforehand.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

"This is Richard. He's the first atronach I made." Faeryel gestures to the atronach, a being of raging winds tightly constricted between metal plates. "Now, if you'll notice, Richard has many plates! They set the boundaries of his form, so he doesn't explode everywhere. Each is individually transmutation-crafted and enchanted." She knocks affectionately on the atronach's shoulder-plate. "Notice how there're more at the joints- the elbow, the shoulder, the neck, the wrists, the knee. I like to put more plates at the joints, to make Richard's movements more precise, rather than letting them be controlled purely by air."

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If my student powergames after my teaching, I would explain them what they were doing wrong, and why what they did was wrong. If they continued, I’d report them to the ST.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

    Air Evocation

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Air evocation is evoking air from the void. It’s got some cool spells:

    • Gust. Three emotes. Makes an air blast that can last for eight emotes and has varying strength depending on your tier. Combat.
    • Sweep. Three emotes. An air blast, but in a circle around you. Radius varies with tier. Combat.
    • Redirection. Two emotes. A small jet of air that can deflect an arrow or a rock or something of similar weight. Combat.
    • Air wall. Four emotes. A continual upwards stream of air, 4x4, which will block projectiles and anyone without a running start. Combat.
    • Sonic blast. Three emotes. A line or a circular area of extreme sound which stuns and deafens people, varying with tier. Combat.
    • Launch. Three emotes. Launches the mage or someone else upwards. Foiled by moving around. Combat.
    • Compression. Five emotes. Shoots a ball of compressed air that explodes in a three block radius. Breaks bones and dents plate. Combat.
    • Tornado. Five emotes, two mages. Makes a tornado that effects things differently based on their weight. Combat.
    • Conjure air. Variable emotes. Conjures non-combat air with the volume depending on tier. Non-combat.
    • Change temperature. No emotes. Slightly changes the temperature of conjured air. Not enough to burn or freeze anyone. Non-combat.
    • Featherfall. Three emotes. Lets you or a friend descend seven blocks safely. Non-combat for some reason???
    • Conjure sound. Two emotes. Conjures sound, but nothing as complex as words. Non-combat.

Air evocation also has some cool redlines:

    • You need to have line of sight towards wherever you’re casting, or it needs to be on your skin.
    • You can’t control real air.
    • You can’t choke people.
    • You have to roleplay exhaustion and the weakness that comes with being a voidal mage.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

    No, there aren’t.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Cast emote- Launch.

[!] The mass of air accumulated beneath Faeryel’s sandals explodes. The dark elf gracefully sails upwards on a current of wind, ascending high over the heads of the bandits, before she lands on a conveniently-placed platform five meters above her.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

The rock comes flying at Faeryel! She gestures in a sharp cutting motion with her hand, a quick jet of air blowing the rock off course, causing it to hit a tree behind her. She then turns to her student, who’s a Dragaar or some ****, it doesn’t matter. “You see- a redirection’s rather simple. It’s like casting a gust before it’s ready- it won’t do much more than deflect an arrow or a rock. Also, be careful of anyone who isn’t standing directly behind you, because they might get hit.” She bobs her head, clasping her hands together. “A redirection can also be transformed into a gust or some other spell once cast- it’s very useful, in that way. The trickiest part by far is reacting to a speeding arrow in time. Ready to try?”

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If my student powergames during my teaching, I would stop them there. I would explain what they did wrong, why what they did was wrong, and then have them reemote.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

    Fire Evocation

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Fire Evocation is evoking fire from the void.

Some important properties of evoked fire:

    • will catch flammable things on fire with real fire
    • gaseous unless made combustive, no physical force
    • you can suffocate it or douse it
    • will kill someone if it burns a vital region for three emotes, usually
    • causes first and second degree burns by default unless otherwise specified

Fire evocation has a bunch of spells:

    • Conjure fire: Noncombat. You can make fire. How much fire you can make and how detailed it is depends on your tier. It can be any color except white or black.
    • Cauterize: Combat. You can burn a wound shut for an hour. 3-5 emotes to cast, depending on how big the wound is and who you’re casting on.
    • Flame Projectile: Combat. You throw a fireball. 3 emotes to cast. Can make additional fireballs for 1 emote each.
    • Flame Trail: Combat. You make a line or circle of 1-meter high flame on the ground. 4 emotes to cast.
    • Smokescreen: Combat. You create smoke in a 5 block radius. 3 emotes to cast.
    • Flame blast: Combat. You throw a beachball-sized fireball. 4 emotes to cast. Creates a 5 block radius explosion of flame.
    • Flamethrower: Combat. You shoot a stream of flame. 4 emotes to cast. 7 block range, 1 block radius, lasts 4 emotes.
    • Flaming Tempest: Combat. You call down a rainstorm of coin-sized flames. 6 emotes to cast. Covers a 10 block diameter, lasts 4 emotes.
    • Blue fire: Combat. You make normal flame a lot hotter. Adds 2 emotes to the charging time. Twice as hot, twice as draining.
    • Combustion: Combat. You make normal flame a lot more explosive. Adds 1 emote to the charging time. Your spells now explode with concussive force.

    Fire evocation has some redlines:

    • You can’t control real fire.
    • You need line of sight.
    • You need to be connected to the void and rp all the downsides associated with it.
    • No white flame because it’ll kill you.
    • No black flame because the shades stole it, apparently.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

    There aren’t.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Casting emote- Flamethrower.

Faeryel, brow matted with sweat, flicks forth her wrist. The gathering mass of crackling flame which had been accumulating above her hand spills into a torrential flow of fire. The rollicking stream stretches for eight meters, and would immediately ignite the shabby clothes of the peasant, and give him second-degree burns, unless he got out of the way.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

    Teaching emote- flame blast

“Alright. Now that you’ve mastered the fireball, we’re going to move onto something much better-- the big fireball.” Faeryel gestures with the crackling, baseball-sized flame hovering over her hand, smiling up at her Uruk apprentice. “Sarrion calls it a flame blast, but he doesn’t get to determine the terminology everyone uses. Anyway, once you’ve produced a fireball, you’re going to want to feed it more mana until it swells to something the size of a pumpkin.” Faeryel allows the fireball above her palm to expand, rising higher into the air to avoid touching her, before it becomes a rollicking orb of beach ball sized fire. “Any larger, and it’ll explode and disfigure you.”

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If my student powergames during my teaching, I would stop them there. I would explain what they did wrong, why what they did was wrong, and then have them reemote.

    Correct.

The intention behind both of these was to ensure that an antidote would not be readily available for an ill prepared medic or apothecary. There’s no point in a poison that can be easily cured. The Goblin’s Ivy taking four counts is meant as an assurance of a total system purge, rather than just inducing a singular purge by vomiting. As for Desert Berry Bush and Frost Vine, the thought process was based on both herbs not being easily obtainable within the narrative hour, unless a medic or alchemist has them on hand. The use of this poison starts a clock, where time is of the essence to find a cure.

If I receive more negative feedback on the antidotes, I will gladly make changes as needed, but I wanted the poison to be curable by many means, and not by writing out a very specific counter antidote, and chose to offer up a few options within the lore itself. I hope this makes my choices more clear.

Might as well kill you instantly, then, if it can be easily slipped into food, induces symptoms easily mistaken for something else, and to cure it requires essentially metagaming.

I don’t know what the LT was trying to do by wiping poisons, but I hope it wasn’t to clear the way for ones like these.

Also, now that I look more closely at it, Kholidav’s Frenzy is nonsensical, too. Druids don’t have any way of “enhancing” large sections of land- they have herblore and infusions, both of which work on individual herbs or artifacts. Saying that it’s ineffective on druidically-enhanced land is therefore moot, and it can’t act as a counter for it. A potion that causes plants to totally ignore druidic healing-- which is what blight healing is supposed to do-- and can only be cured by other alchemy is ridiculous. Let blight healing do what it’s supposed to do, and don’t have alchemy be the end-all be-all when it’s a feat that doesn’t use any slots.

  7. Four measures of goblin’s ivy? You only need one to purge the contents of someone’s stomach, adding three more won’t do anything.

And why Desert Berry Bush and Frost Vine? The two have no curative properties when ingested by themselves. It seems like a completely arbitrary combination.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

    Voidal Translocation

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Voidal translocation is an arcane magic that allows a mage to transport themselves and objects through the void, and also to store objects.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Transporting yourself is known as minor teleportation. It requires a tell, and then an anchor, which is a black dot which manifests wherever you’re about to teleport. It requires three emotes, and at T5 a mage may teleport 8 blocks (16 with an additional casting emote) up to 7 times before exhaustion. You may only shift to places you can reach MCly, and cannot shift past barriers or people. Blinking is like minor teleportation, except it takes one emote less, produces an arcanic trail instead of an anchor, and uses twice the mana. Greater teleportation is a non-combat spell which is simply a flavorful way of using a soulstone. Group teleportation is teleporting a willing target, or multiple willing targets. Only up to four people may be teleported at a time, and the more people teleported, the greater the emote count. Material teleportation is teleporting an unmoving object, and the object teleported must be fully understood by the translocationist.

A translocationist may also store an object in the void, which is called void pocket. A mage must understand what they’re storing in order to retrieve it, or otherwise it is lost to the void. Only whole objects can be translocated, rather than a part of one. Living materials may be stored in the void only if they are in a container and do not possess a Superior Soul. At T5, a mage may translocate anything 12 cubic meters or smaller, and may perform 12 deconstructions/reconstructions before exhaustion. Bigger items take longer to translocate.

Translocationists may also open two rifts to the void, instantly transporting anything that passes through them, with a spell known as half-translocation. At T5, these rifts may be the size of a beach ball, can only be up to 4 meters from the mage, and only five half-translocations can be performed before exhaustion. Momentum is preserved when passing through half-translocation rifts. Living organic matter may not pass through the rifts.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    [Blinking]

Faeryel bursts into grey arcane, before reappearing five meters to her right. She lets out a wheeze, clutching her midsection, before continuing to sprint away. A faint arcanic trail glitters from where she evaporated to where she manifested.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

“The mana-anchor is the most important part of our art,” Faeryel recites dully, gesturing with grey-mist-leaking fingertips. About a foot to her right manifests a two-dimensional grey square, a hole in the world. “Without it, we would never be able to traverse the void. It consists of your own mana, concentrated, locking you into our plane. It is your influence. Your willpower taken form. Once you have mastered it, you will be ready to shift.”

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If my student powergames during my teaching, I would stop them there. I would explain what they did wrong, why what they did was wrong, and then have them reemote.

  10. MC Name: GuardNPC

    Character's Name: Faeryel

    Character's Age: 200ish

    Character's Race:

    Dark Elf

    Link to your accepted MA:

    https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/184686-transfigurationmaguardnpc/

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

    Transfiguration

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Transfiguration is a broad subtype of magic, which takes up two magic slots. It is primarily concerned with the manipulation of worldly mana, and has four main abilities: Voidal Feeling, Transmutation, Enchanting, and Warding/Abjuration.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Voidal Feeling is manipulating one’s mana to slide inside an object, and divine its physical and magical properties. Voidal feeling can be used to determine many characteristics of a mundane object, such as its durability, melting point, boiling point, flammability, components, and Alchemical signs if the transfigurationist also has a further alchemy app. The triggers, charges, and effects of arcane enchanted items can also be discovered through voidal feeling. Voidal feeling cannot feel anything larger than two cubic meters, and cannot be used on living material.

Transmutation is manipulating an object’s mana in order to manipulate its physical characteristics. Transmutation may be used to alter temperature, shape, color, and density, and may also be used to fuse or separate objects. Transmutation can also be used to produced enhanced magelight, which blinds targets who perceive it, and immediately disconnects the caster. Transmutation cannot be used to break equivalent exchange- an example being, you cannot make an object denser without it also shrinking. Nothing larger than two cubic meters can be transmuted without a circling ritual, and it cannot be used on living material.

Enchanting is imbuing a spell onto an object. A lesser enchantment may imbue a non-combative spell, and thus has few limits on what it can do. A potent enchantment can imbue a combative spell onto an object, and has one use if it’s tier 3, two for tier 2, and three for tier 1. It uses up one combat enchantment slot. A grand enchantment can imbue a more powerful combative spell onto a magegold object, and has one use if it’s tier 5, two uses if it’s tier 4, and so on and so forth. It uses up two combat enchantment slots. People have only three combat enchantment slots, and enchantments will malfunction if the user enters melee combat and become unusable. You may only move three blocks while activating, charging, and casting an enchantment. Emote counts are the same as that of a non-enchanted spell. You can only enchant spells with a magic you actively practice, unless you use co-enchanting or an entrapped spell. An abjuration will permanently disable an enchantment.

Warding and Abjuration are interrupting the mana of an oncoming spell with your own mana. A Ward, when cast, is a shield that has five durability points. It will fizzle out after using up all five points, as by a tier five spell, or a tier three and a tier two spell, and so on and so forth. If a spell causes a ward to exceed these five points, the ward will shatter and stun the caster for an emote. A ward only blocks magics that the caster is / has been tier three in. An enchanted ward may only block one magic. Abjurations are balls of mana that can abjure spells of one specific magic, exacting a toll of equivalent mana. So, if one were to abjure a tier five spell, it would be as if they had cast a tier five spell themselves. Only magics the transfigurationist knows or has known may be abjured. Abjurations are ineffective against wards. Unsound magic will destroy both wards and abjurations, unless the transfigurationist is / was an unsound mage.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

[!] The magelight hovering above Faeryel’s hand grows to painful strength. FLASH. An intensely bright flare of light emits from above her palm in all directions, disorienting those who perceive it for an emote. Faeryel winces, drawing back, her connection to the void severed.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

[!] The fireball hovers above Faeryel’s hand, crackling and bobbing. She addresses her student. “Now, you know what a fireball is, you’re a Fire Evocationist. You know how hot it burns, how much light it produces, how much mana it requires to cast. I want you to, in your mind, construct a counter-fireball. An abjuration. It uses the same amount of mana, but is meant to cancel my own fireball’s mana out. D’you understand?”

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If my student powergames during my teaching, I would stop them there. I would explain what they did wrong, why what they did was wrong, and then have them reemote.

If my student powergames after my teaching, I would explain them what they were doing wrong, and why what they did was wrong. If they continued, I’d report them to the ST.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

    Voidal Translocation

Summarise the Lore of this magic(s):

Voidal translocation is an arcane magic that allows a mage to transport themselves and objects through the void, and also to store objects.

    Creator's MC Name:

             Archipelego

    Creator's RP Name:

             Grey Ilianos

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Sorvians are golem-like constructs made of clay, a wooden skeleton, and a porcelain mask. They’re Sculpted by a Sculptor, who scribbles a nonsensical Incantation on the back of their mask using their own blood, imbues a bit of their soul essence, and then sticks it on to the previously-mentioned clay and skeleton. Said Sculptor can also heal an injured or dead Sorvian, either by reattaching limbs, applying fresh clay, or remaking the mask. When remade, a Sorvian will morph into what it looked like before, scars and all.

Non-Newt Sorvians are between 3 and 6 feet tall, their strength, eyesight and hearing equivalent with a human. Their bodies are pretty easy to cut through, being clay and wood. They do not bleed, and feel dull aches that take a while to fade away rather than sharp pains. They do not age, although as the years pass they accumulate scars, wear and tear. A Sorvian will be destroyed if its mask is broken, which takes three direct hits. It will also be destroyed if it is decapitated, or if it is stabbed in the chest and bleeds out soul essence for five emotes.

Sorvians are incapable of disobeying an order from their creator, although they can still vocally disagree with it. When first created, they are blank slates, and soon latch onto and devote themselves to an ideology. They relentlessly pursue whatever ideology they attach themselves to, with inhuman endurance. Sorvians seek to emulate Descendants, but find themselves falling short, as they are not and can never be alive.

    Some cool redlines:

-No magic that requires a soul. Sorvians can learn Sorvian Sculpting, but can only make one Sorvian every three months, rather than three.

    -No FTBing.
-Sorvians have to follow direct commands from their creator, and can’t harm their creator either. They will resist efforts from their creator to destroy their mask, however.

-Sorvians can’t be created from existing characters.

-Healing can’t be done in combat.

Do you understand that if this creature's lore is undergoing an activity trial and that trial fails, you will no longer be able to play this creature and will be forced to either revert the character back to its normal form (if it was a transformative type) or stop playing the character entirely (if it is an entirely new creature)?:

             Yep
