What is metagaming?: giving a character knowledge about something he/she shouldn’t have such as knowing what a friend is doing half-way across the continent in-character just by a sudden feeling, while really you got a skype message out-of-game. What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: giving a character unnatural strength that they shouldn’t have such as one character being able to fall five stories and survive or battle a whole army by himself. Highlight in blue=LORE Thomas Lenium was born to Leo and Cassi Lenium. They were both kaedrin highlanders and owned a small inn together in Salvus. Thomas’ father, Leo, worked with his mother at the inn and was a member of a local shipment crew. Thomas grew up seeing many different people come and go in the inn and thus grew a great curiosity for foreign life and culture. From orcs coming in from Asulon to Dwarves from the northern mountains of Aegis, he saw them all. Thomas grew up with a pet alabaster seabird. The bird belonged to his father, who used it to send letters back home when he was on long voyages. Then, when Thomas was only nine years old, his father woke him up early in the morning. His father said that he loved him and he would miss him. Thomas did not understand what he meant and asked where he was going. His father’s only response was “Axios”. That was the last time he saw him. Thomas and his mother lived without Leo for a whole five years before the debts started to pile in. Thomas decided to join a shipping crew just like his father. He worked hard and got money for his mother and him. Then one day, after a long day of work, Thomas came home to find a group of thugs with his mother tied to a chair. They asked for all the leftover money and he gave it to them. He knew the thugs were part of a local thieves guild and decided not to fight them. Thomas asked them to give him his mother back, but they wouldn’t. They thought it was funny that a fourteen-year old’s mother was crying while he was pleading for her life. So, after they were tired of all the harassment they finally slit her throat. This made Thomas freeze, and after he finally woke up from his daze, he ran. He ran away from his home and away from that town. And the worst part was, it was his birthday. That 12 years ago, and now Thomas has grown since then. He has become a hunter/smuggler, he’s got his own boat, but no crew. He prefers to work alone. Thomas has never stopped thinking about what his father said, or his mother. He has finally figured out the puzzle and is now on his way to Axios. Just like his father had told him to do. ~FIN~ Personality Traits: (what are your character's quirks?; habits?; likes and dislikes?)Thomas likes to keep to himself and mind his own business, but curiosity always gets the best of him and usually ends up on the wrong end of the sword. Though he does have a way to seduce women, he doen’t usually stay with one for very long. Thomas also has a short-temper. Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?) Thomas has been on a quest to find his father ever since he was a little boy. He also wishes to exact revenge on the people who killed his mother and maybe even make a profit on the way. Strengths/Talents: (what is your character really, really good at?) Thomas can always make a deal, but he has gained his share of enemies over the years by poorly-attempted cons. Thomas is a master at the blade and a wonderful navigator. Thomas can hunt for his own food and doesn’t need anyone to back him up (or so he thinks.) Weaknesses/Inabilities: (what is a skill that your character needs to work on?) One of the few weaknesses that Thomas holds is that he often becomes attached to people for too long, only to lose them in short time. After his father’s disappearance and mother’s death, he has learned never to stay in one place for a long time. He often finds himself in a bad predicament because of lack of thought and preparation. He also tends to lose focus when him or others are in severe danger. Thomas also have a lot of enemies and generally has to keep traveling to stay alive. Thomas grew up seeing different faces and types of people that would spark his curiosity about what life was like outside of his hometown. Thomas’ father, though, had signed onto a shipping crew to earn money to pay of the family's’ debts. The morning that he left, Thomas (at age 11) woke up early to say goodbye to his father. That was the last time he ever saw him. Weeks turned to months which turned to years of waiting for Leo to return. Sadly, the years of waiting had taken it’s toll on the family. Thomas’ mother couldn’t take care of the inn on her own. Knowing that they were low on coin, a local thug gang offered a small loan that they would collect later with interest. The Leniums fell into the traps set by the thugs and agreed to the deal. The money had saved the inn, but soon the thugs would be back for the money and Thomas and his mother had almost used all of it. So, in a desperate attempt to earn some coin, Thomas joined a shipping crew just like his father. He worked hard at his new job and earned some of money, too. Then one day, after returning from a long voyage at sea, he was welcomed by the thugs with a blade to his mother’s throat. Thomas tried to persuade the thugs, but they would not listen. They had the upperhand. They had his mother. They killed her right in front of him. After that, he ran. He ran from the thugs, he ran from the town. He ran from the sea.
