  1. “Mister President, it is a shame that this year that the empire didn’t elect another woman to the Imperial Senate and it is a shame that my good friend, the former Senator for Kaedrin Jeanne Vladov was smashed to death by a golem. I will be issuing a Writ of Summons after the new Senators are sworn in and I would like to congratulate Terrence May, Gwynnestri Elwitt Conrad Barclay and Lajos Karoly on their election victories.”

She’d pause, sipping a glass of water.

“Twenty years ago when I first entered the Imperial Senate , Angelo the Puppet d’Alba rebelled against the crown. I was one of the few outspoken Loyalists to the Empire and  eventually, the martyr Ester Rose liberated my homeland from the AIS and we rejoined the warm fold of the Holy Orenian Empire. My province was on the front lines of this war, and this conflict has truly been DEVASTATING for Curon. It is fair to say the Rubern War has affected Curon the most. We now look to the future after twenty long, depressing years of decline and poverty. I will be working closely with the Cabinet, with my awesome husband Duarte de Antunyes becoming the Minister of War in the Halcourt Administration. I would like to thank my husband for his support and the future is bright for Curon and her people. Now is not the time for conflict, now is the time for peace. What makes me proud to be Orenian is the feeling of comradeship and unity between all Humans and respect for Non-Humans who seek to call our lands home. I’m no nationalist, but I am patriotic of my identity as an Orenian.”

Vivaca Rutledge sheds a tear, resuming her seat and flipping open a book.

    1760 HELENA SENATORIAL DEBATE NOTES.

The candidates begin with their opening statements in the following order:

    Opening Statements.

Conrad Barclay: 500 minas for every vote for myself. I will strive to act as the rightful voice for the Church in the Senate. I also promise to increase security for events so there shall be no more murders.

Mary Philippa D’Arkent: Turn attention inward, pension and benefits for veterans. Increased education funding.

Lombardi: Higher pay for government workers and guards.

Judge Question: Thoughts on civil unions for non-believers or those otherwise ineligible for a sacramental marriage under the Church?

Conrad Barclay: Heathens of same-race couples should be allowed to be bound in civil unions performed by judges. I however do not believe mixed-race couples should be allowed to be united in marriage, sacramental or secular.

Mary Philippa D’Arkent: Non-believers of same-race couples should be allowed to be bound in civil unions performed by judges.

Lombardi: Mixed-race couples have no right to union, no comments on non-believers.

Audience Question 1: Thoughts on children of interracial couples. Do they deserve to be mistreated; are the sins of the parents the sins of the children?

Conrad Barclay: The Church and State's opinion is that they are blameless for their birth with half-orcs acting as the exception as intelligent non-persons. My views line up with these exactly.

Mary Philippa D’Arkent: I oppose unjust treatment of half-breeds, they don't deserve to be punished for their parent's misdoings.

Lombardi: Children are completely blameless for their upbringing. They shouldn't be prosecuted for parent's misdeeds.

Audience Question 2: How do you plan to ensure small businesses can compete in this Helena monopoly market?

Conrad Barclay: I believe in anti-monopoly laws such as restricting businesses to a one commercial property maximum. Dodging this by having sub-enterprises will be harshly punished.

Mary Philippa D’Arkent: We need to enable opportunity by creating grants for small-business owners, property discounts and a higher regulation on stall inactivity. I however do not believe in punishing larger businesses as this will create a vicious cycle.

Lombardi: I believe in creating laws that would disable larger companies being able to overrule smaller businesses. However it is reliant on smaller business owners. We should strengthen eviction regulations to allow businesses to acquire property easier.

    The debate concludes.

Presided over by Justice Joachim B. Haas of the Western Circuit.

GOD BLESS HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY AND GOD BLESS THE HOLY ORENIAN EMPIRE.

  3. ~ – THE TEA – ~

    TEA YOU CAN COUNT ON.

    EDITION FIVE.

    Heyyy!

    We’re back!

Pretty sure it’s fair to say we’ve pretty much won this war, I mean.

The Alliance of Idiotic States is pretty much finished!

    Today’s tea...

    I. Elections in Haense!

    2. ORC (Oren Revised Code).

    3. Holy Scrolls.

    4. Curonian Tea.

    5. Tea-Hee!

    Article I: ELECTIONS IN HAENSE!

It’s nearly election time in the Kingdom of Haense, with the Haenseni voting for who they want to represent them in their Duma and voting for the Maer of New Reza.

Unlike the past, Haenseni voters will only be voting for one Alderman or Alderwoman to represent them in the Senate, with the second Alderman seat being replaced by the Tribune.

The Tribune is a position only commoners can  hold, and like the Alderman and Maer elections, is elected by popular vote!

We look forward to the results of the election, and express our support for provincial democracy.

Article II: ORC. (Oren Revised Code)

The Oren Revised Code was passed through the Imperial Senate after delay.

The Imperial Senate voted to table the bill in the last session, resulting in the code not being passed until the next session.

Eventually, upon the beginning of the Twelfth Session of the Imperial Senate, Senator Terrence May reintroduced the bill to the Senate and it was passed, with two abstentions.

    ARTICLE III: Holy Scrolls!

The Church of the Canon finally published the Holy Scrolls, making them available for all to see.

The Holy Scrolls are the pillar of the Canonist faith.

    ARTICLE IV: Curonian Tea.

Recently, the Auditor of the Tribunal addressed a letter to the Curonian Governor-General, the amazing Sylvester Halcourt concerning the destruction of Avalain’s Church.

The Church was destroyed a few years ago by a lone, Norlander terrorist and the Auditor of the Tribunal foolishly Senator Vivaca Rutledge as a potential suspect.

That is not the case however, the church was set ablaze by a lone Norlandic terrorist which, ironically helped the Curonian government in their reconstruction plans for Avalain.

The Governor-General addressed a letter to the Auditor of the Tribunal in response to his allegation, rightfully calling his attack on Vivaca Rutledge silly and libellous and raised the point that the church was destroyed years before the letter was addressed to him.

The Curonian Government waits for a response from the Auditor of the Tribunal.

    TEE-HEE!

Thank you for reading this edition of The Tea.

    THE TEA.

    TEA YOU CAN COUNT ON.

DON’T BE OFFENDED, IT’S JUST TEA.

  4. Vivaca Rutledge’s eyes widen, shaking her head “Nonsense. The church was destroyed by Norlanders a few years ago, destroying any place of worship is a vile thing regardless if you disagree with the faith. I believe the Norlanders who set ablaze the church escaped. Bunch of no good terrorists. I do agree that the government of Curon should’ve informed the Church though!” Senator Vivaca Rutledge said, leaning back in her chair.

    THE SUPERIORITY OF NOBODY.

    1758

An anonymous figure recently published a racist piece of literature called The Superiority of Us.

This anonymous figure believes in segregation.

Let me tell you this, segregation is not the way to go. Segregation does nothing.

This figure hides behind posters, this figure might not like seeing Elves or dark-skinned Humans walking the streets, but if you want them to assimilate into Orenian society then you must encourage integration, not segregation.

This figure wants us to squabble among ourselves over the topic of ethnic nationalism.

We’re better than that, the world is changing and so too must we if we are to adapt to an ever-changing environment.

Segregation and racism is not the way to go.

Oren will always be made up of primarily Human and white, there’s no denying that.

But if everybody was the same skin colour, same ethnicity or same race, it would be rather boring and uninteresting, wouldn’t it?

This anonymous figure should stop hiding behind posters and leaflet propaganda and instead should take part in a public debate on the subject.

    Encourage integration, not segregation.

    Signed by...

Senior Senator for Curon, Vivaca Adhara Rutledge.

  6. Vivaca Rutledge eyes widen, shaking her head in disgust and she almost vomits all over her floor!

“Disgusting. Whoever wrote this wants to divide our communities like the Priorists!”

Vivaca Rutledge shrugs, leaning back in her chair in the safety of her home.

  7. Senator Vivaca rises,

"I would like to thank the Curonian people for giving me their trust for the past 18 years, and I will hopefully serve as their representative for many more years. Mister President, I rise to introduce a bill on behalf of the Secretary of Civil Affairs. I introduce the “Former Presidents Act of 1758” to the floor, establishing a pension for those who have served as President pro Tempore.”

“Oh look, Vivaca! We have haters because we’re from Curon.” Gwynnesti Elwitt GREEN, a lady of good morals, sits sipping her tea in a private location. “Perhaps this man needs a kick in the jewels to put him in his place.”

“Yes, it’s quite silly really. I’m not offended by this person though, because I don’t even know who he is!” Vivaca Rutledge rolls her eyes, sipping her tea with Gwynnestri in a private location!

“Because you’re one of the heretical senators who seem to do everything these articles speak about, including agreeing with mix-racial marriages which are against canonical law.” replied Boniface, having recently been permitted back into the empty streets of Curon.

“I DON’T f*cking support mix-race relations, I don’t give a f*ck if an Elf or a Human marry or have babies!” Vivaca Rutledge rolls her eyes.

  11. Curonian Senator Vivaca Rutledge sighs, throwing the poster away! She then spoke...

“So, an empire is not an empire without the people. The Holy Orenian Empire would be nothing without the people from all four of our provinces, who have equal representation in the Senate. An absolute monarch wouldn’t give fair representation to his vassals in his privy, such was the case of the cruel Emperor Anthony Pertinaxi who gave the Adrians no representation in his privy. An absolute monarch would only care for the needs of the few and not the views of the many different voices in our Empire. This is regression and for some stupid reason calls me UNCIVIL? What absolute nonsense!”

  12. Senator Vivaca Rutledge rises...

“Mister President, I congratulate you on being elected to the position of President pro Tempore. It is important that our laws and our duty as a legislative body are respected and that is why I support the impeachment of Secretary Peter de Sarkozy, who has breached the trust of the legislative body of our Empire. I will aid my fellow committee chairs and I encourage the Civil Affairs Committee to take part in the impeachment proceedings. First, we must explore impeachment and we have to see what Secretary Peter de Sarkozy has done wrong. I want to see our laws implemented within the next decade, such as the university project. It is important that all Orenians, not just from Helena experience the benefits of quality education. It seems to me that the Senate’s laws only take effect in one province, and that is the Crownlands. We need to spread the benefits of many of the laws we have implemented and personally, I would like to see sessions of the Imperial Senate hosted not just in Helena,  but all across our empire to connect our institution to the citizens we represent.  Thank you.”
